While driving in heavy interstate traffic on March 18, 2026, the vehicle suddenly downshifted hard to 2nd gear, locking the rear wheels and causing the vehicle to slide out of my lane. The truck then entered limp mode and appeared to be stuck in 2nd gear. I immediately called my chevy dealer to make an appointment to drop the truck off. While researching, I found there was a recall for the same vehicle symptoms, but my truck falls outside of the recall. The truck is currently at the dealership for a valve body replacement, due to a KNOWN issue with the Allision transmission where TSB's have been issued. Chevrolet should be more proactive and recall the trucks, and replace the transmissions instead of a bandaid fix, before someone with less driving awareness/experience is involved in an accident
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that on two occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode with an audible chime, and several undisclosed messages displayed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the vehicle was turned off, and the battery terminals were disconnected for several minutes before being reconnected. The vehicle resumed to normal functionality and the warning lights independently turned off after driving for a while. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered several diagnostic trouble codes associated with the transmission control module. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
My 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Bison ZR2 (VIN [XXX] ) suddenly lost all power steering, acceleration, and propulsion while driving my children to school at approximately 8:00 AM on March 16, 2026. The truck came to a complete stop with no warning lights or prior indication. This matches the exact ‘critical issue with the engine and transmission system’ alert I received from OnStar Advanced Diagnostics the same morning. Steering was completely unresponsive and I had no acceleration. My children were passengers — this was extremely dangerous. I have not driven the vehicle since and have requested towing to the dealer. Please investigate under any open probes into 2024 Silverado HD power-loss and steering failures. While accelerating to merge onto the highway, the transmission attempted a shift twice and could not complete the shift. That process causes an aggressive deceleration with each shift attempt. It then slowed, turned on the check engine light and displayed "Reduced Power Mode" - i.e. went into limp mode. The dealer pulled code P0747. The repair is a full transmission rebuild. I did not experience wheel lock up like other people have, but this is the same problem that has been heavily documented.
When driving, between the speeds of 40-50mph, the wheels would lock up without warning. This happened 4 times during the month of January, sometimes in 4wd. This occurred at speed when the vehicle seemed to be upshifting. Control of the vehicle would be lost during the lockup as the wheels would stop rotation entirely and rather violently. Check engine light came on after the 4th incident, reducing power and a code of P0747 "Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Stuck On". The transmission valve body was repaired by the local Chevrolet dealership under powertrain warranty. This is a known issue on previous years of this truck with the same transmission but has not been expanded to cover this vehicle. Thankfully, I was able to maintain contorol and was not in traffic when this occurred. I notified the dealer that the vehicle was shifting very hard during the last visit but no codes or issues were found at that time indicating an issue.

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle entered LIMP Mode. During the failure, the transmission became stuck in 5th gear, and the vehicle operated at reduced speeds. The vehicle was turned off but failed to immediately restart. After approximately 15 minutes, the vehicle restarted, and the failure was self-corrected. The failures had occurred while hauling a heavy load and while not carrying a load. The message "Decreased Acceleration" was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The transmission fluid was flushed and refilled, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000.
My husband and I were driving his Chevy Silverado with our two dogs in the back. Without any warning or any alert, our vehicle came to a complete stop in the middle lane on a three lane highway. Not a slow stop where there was any time. I’m confirming immediate. At that time, the vehicle would not move at all for almost 5 minutes. As we sat there praying to God that we wouldn’t die as tractor trailers and other vehicles came flying past missing us by inches. It’s truly a miracle that no one was killed. He put truck in neutral and pressed start button and was not able to go any faster then 5 mph and once again a miracle we were able to make it to shoulder of highway without being hit. The vehicle was shaking excessively and flashing things like emissions, traction, as our videos and pictures will show when we made it to side of highway. This is a disgrace that any vehicle would ever be manufactured with this outcome. I am deeply grateful that my husband and I and our two dogs are alive and not injured but this should NEVER happen again.
The check engine light goes on continously and it goes to limp mode. The truck cannot be driven daily and most of the time is in the dealer fixing the updates or computer. It is not an equipment problem but a computer problem.

I was leaving my farm property after loading my truck and tailgate and drove home 20 miles. At some point in the drive my tailgate dropped and fell onto the trailer tongue. This caused damage to my tailgate. I have called the dealer and they informed me there was a recall on the tailgate latch but they completed the work on the recall defect. I am questioning this and want to understand what to do now. I don't trust the tailgate and the truck has no warning system for when the tailgate drops like a door open signal.

My 2024 Chevrolet 2500HD Duramax experienced a forced emissions derate event with a speed-limited countdown. The vehicle suddenly lost normal operating capability and became unsafe and undrivable. The truck was disabled in Enid, Oklahoma and had to be recovered and transported to a dealership. Prior to failure, the vehicle showed abnormal DEF/emissions behavior. The failure involves the SCR/DEF emissions system. I later confirmed this vehicle has a completed Product Emissions Recall for SCR Fault Detection. Despite that recall, the emissions system failed and triggered a derate and loss-of-mobility event. The truck is currently at Classic Chevrolet in Owasso, OK for diagnosis.

The transmission valve has gone bad a few thousand miles outside of warranty. This part has widely been recalled in Silverados up to 2022 but is not including 2024 yet. This is the same issue, that I also had with my Chevy Tahoe last August. Please include 2024 2500 Silverados.
2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD purchased new. Vehicle did not include a complete owners manual only a brief description of vehicle. Many safety issues were left out such as maintenance schedules that could affect performance and safety over the life of the vehicle. another issue that was omitted was the operation of the automatic tailgate that was involved in a previous recall. I contacted Chevrolet and asked for the complete version of the owners manual and was told the the incomplete manual was all that was included in the purchase of a $72,000 truck. I was directed to a third party which offered the complete manual for $94.00 which included $32.00 shipping and handling. Book rate shipping is $5.95. For an automaker to excessivey profit from a safety problem is inexcusable and a danger to the public.
2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD purchased new. Delivered with missing capless fuel adapter. Pointed out missing capless adapter defect to Chevrolet dealer. Dealer refused to correct defect. When the vehicle ran out of fuel on busy roadway a large quanity of fuel splashed on the owner, the vehicle and the road creating the potential risk of serious fire, injury and environmental hazard. Owner had to purchase the capless adapter from the dealer service department when #1 it should have been included with vehicle purchase #2 Dealer should have corrected this serious safety issue when customer brought it to their attention.

Very limited while driving in the dark cause head lights go off and can’t drive in the rain or snow cause wipers turn off not save for my family and I and other drivers on the road Thai all happen, After the dealer (Lithia Chevrolet of Redding, CA) performed GM recall programming on the Serial Data Gateway Module (SDGM) and related software updates, my truck began having serious electrical failures. Immediately after the recall work, all exterior lights, interior lights, and trailer lights began flickering on and off while driving. The windshield wipers also pause or stop for a moment when this happens. None of these issues existed before the recall. This appears to be a module reset or corrupted calibration caused during the recall reprogramming. GM has already told NHTSA that they have hundreds of field complaints about flickering headlamps on 2024 trucks, and they identified lighting flicker as a safety defect. My symptoms match those issues exactly. The dealer refuses to accept responsibility, saying the recall is “closed,” but the electrical failure only began immediately after their programming. This is a safety hazard when driving at night or in the rain, and it affects the trailer braking/lighting circuits as well. I have an active GM case opened for this issue. The truck is unsafe to operate in this condition. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the recall programming is causing electrical module failures and whether additional action is needed.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that after parking and turning off the vehicle, the tailgate inadvertently unlatched and opened. The contact stated that the failure was caused by a short-circuit in the tailgate electronic gate switch due to water entering the unit. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V894000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Can not see when driving in reverse in the dark. Camera image appears as a red fog and I can't see a thing. I tried using the rear view mirrors and again could not see anything. Totally driving in reverse in the blind. Absolute safety issue that needs to be addressed. I don't know if this is a camera issue, a lighting issue or both. I have an appointment with the dealership I purchased the vehicle from on 10/23/2025 to address the problem explained above. I purchased this vehicle as a used unit with less than 8,000 miles and this was the first time I had the occasion to operate the vehicle in reverse in the dark.

The fuel pump inside the tank shorted out and left us stranded. This is the same pump that was used on the the 2022 Duramax systems however they upped the fuel pressure on the 2024 refresh and it has become a known problem of shorting out.
The differential, front right axil "housing" is rusted to the point that it is pitting. The rust completely covers the entire right axil housing and does not come close to matching the light corrosion when compared to the rest of the differential or anywhere else on the vehicle. These indicators lead me to believe the housing was in a corrosive environment prior to being installed onto the differential where both the internal and external surfaces of the housing were exposed to same corrosive environment. Several concerns: If the inside of the axil housing is rusted as bad as the outside, the integrity of the axil has been compromised; Internal rust contamination will lead to premature failure; the housing was not properly heat-treated; no vehicle should be delivered brand new with this level of rust on any part. The issue was pointed out to GM shortly after purchased new. The vehicle has been kept in a non-corrosive environment since it was purchased, and GM refuses to assess the internal integrity of the axil housing and refuse to install a new housing. I am cautious about towing heavy loads since I do not want risk towing 21,000 lbs. if or when the housing fails. I have seen other Silverado, 2500 HDs with the same issue. As an experienced Airframe and Powerplant mechanic with automotive experience, I would never allow a vehicle to operate with this level of contamination unless I could confirm the integrity of the housing via nondestructive inspection and thickness measurements. Or should I just start towing and wait to see if it fails?

The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. An unknown warning light illuminated, and a transmission message was displayed. In addition, the RPM was fluctuating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired because the part for the repair was not available. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Instrument cluster stopped working, I have no speed or fuel remaining indicators. Dealer completed software recall work which did not fix the issue. Replacement is on back order so I am unable to drive the vehicle for an unknown amount of time.
My truck had approximately 55,000 miles on it when the incident happened. I pulled out of a store and began going down the road and the rear wheels locked up slamming everything forward and the truck and leaving us almost rear ended. The truck was stuck in one gear after breaking the tires free with check engine lights flashing and the dash saying reduced power. It has since been at the dealership for 3 months waiting on a valve body with no end in sight. There is apparently a national back order on these faulty parts because of how common this high speed rear wheel lockup is so I am left without a vehicle or an end in sight.
While towing my travel trailer at 55 mph the truck rear tires locked up causing an alerting situation. The transmission automatically shifted out of tow/haul mode, the CEL illuminated and the following message appeared on the dash "reduced acceleration condition, drive with caution". This event happened a total of 3 times within a 20 mile distance. Because it was a short burst and I was traveling on a straight section of roadway, the risk of accident was moderate. This would have been a high risk of danger if I were on a curving downhill section of roadway. The situation was confirmed by my local dealer through a diagnostic check exhibiting a P0747 and P0700 error code. There were no CELs or other warnings prior to the lockup. The diagnosis was a problem with the transmission valve body. A new valve body was ordered and arrived 14 days later. After the new VB was installed the symptoms appear to be gone after driving about 50 miles.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that the trailer brake control module failed to operate as needed while hauling a trailer, causing the trailer to lose braking capability. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the trailer control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,500.
The tailgate releases on its own multiple times a day. Once it’s down, you can hear it attempt to do it again and the lights flash. It drained the battery also

Truck went into “Reduced Acceleration” or “Limp Mode” while pulling my camper. Took truck to Kool Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, MI. They confirmed it is a bad Valve body on the transmission. No estimated time from Chevy on getting a replacement valve body. They confirmed this is a widespread known issue and could be weeks if not months. I have a family camping trip planned for the upper peninsula of Michigan in mid July and they aren’t giving not giving me any indication that I could have my truck back by then.
I bought my track about a year ago. Within the first week of owning it. Multiple times a week, when I start it there is no sound. No radio, music, blinkers, etc. Absolutely no sound. Some of the time once I get to where im going, turn it off. Once I start it again it's back. The other times takes a couple times to hear it again. When I asked the dealership, I was told it's a known issue. 9 months later it still does it. Some weeks once or twice. Other weeks up to 10 times. I pd alot of money for my truck and yes I expect it to have no problems like this.
With 19,000 miles on my Silverado 2500 HD I was traveling down a hill towards a stop sign at a T intersection. About 100 yeads from the stop sign I had many flashing errors on the dash, very little brake and very little steering. The engine just shot off. Fortunately I was able to stop the vehicle right at the stop sign while traffic from right and left had no stop sign. The truck would not start after. It did have electrical power. I tow was needed. The next day the Chevy dealer did find a bulletin for a wire in the engine compartment chaffed. Symptoms were the same as what I experienced. Repair was made. Bulletin #24-NA-124. There is no doubt a bulletin should be issued but I believe this is a real safety issue with the engine just randomly shutting off leaving no power to brakes and steering. Had this happened while I was towing our camper I would not have stopped and t boned another vehicle causing damage and no doubt injury to others and myself. If traveling on an interstate at 70 MPH this could have been even worst. This is a known problem and should be a recall and not just a bulletin. Thanks.
