General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall number 20V-736. GM's number for this recall is N202324251.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, 1500 Crew Cab Special Service, Tahoe Police Pursuit/Special Service, GMC Sierra 2500, and 3500 vehicles. The brake pedal pivot nut may loosen, causing the brake pedal to be loose or inoperative.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall the nut with increased tightness, free of charge. The recall began October 3, 2018. The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH with the rear defroster activated, there was an electrical burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle before the rear window cracked and then shattered. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the Extended Warranty Coverage related to the failure. The rear window was replaced by the local glass repair shop. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving, and the rear window shattered while a grandson was seated in the rear seat. During the failure, there was no injury sustained. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle started to vibrate and shudder abnormally. There was no warning illuminated. The contact continued driving at approximately 30 MPH. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact had another 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 in 2025, and the vehicle experienced similar symptoms before the transmission failed. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to a dealer, who advised that this was a known failure with the 6-speed transmission. The contact was informed by the dealer that the torque converters were too small for the transmission. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

My pickup truck has a Duramax diesel engine with a CP4 diesel injection pump. That pump has not failed yet in my truck. However it has been known to fail in numerous other GM vehicles with Duramax engines and when it does fail the engine comes to a complete stop and cannot be restarted. This is a potentially hazardous even fatal situation. Repair if the pump fails is very expensive - $12,000 to $14,000 in some cases. I would like GM to replace the injection pump at my dealership to ensure this known failure does not occur. My pickup truck is otherwise in excellent condition.

On 8/25/2025 I purchased a used 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD from a auto dealer and they had put new tires on the truck that aren't rated for a 2500 HD, I contacted them and they offered me $400 to replace them with the correct tires that cost me $1319.78 they refuse to help me anymore which is putting my life and others at stake if a tire is to blow out hauling heavy loads that the tires aren't rated for. That 3/4 ton truck is suppose to have tires with a (E) rating, also the TPMS system does't work because all the tires are under inflated for that truck. They have been contacted about this issue; FMVSS No. 120: FMVSS No. 139: FMVSS No. 138 cover this issue! The dealership violated the NHTSA standards and consumer protection laws among other laws.

Steering great box replaced steering still not stable, electrical glitches such as stability trac service message, hill assist, breaking assist messages pop up and then disappear constantly, power steering pump, hydro boost and master cylinder replaced multiple times, no sound emitting for seat belt, door chime , turn signals with no accessory mode power when key is turned. Vehicle has been in and out of shop for repairs and noone can figure out the sound or electrical issues and keep replacing the steering and power steering components. When using driver side window switch all dashboard lights increase in brightness then dim back down

We have been calling and trying to get this recall taken care of. Every time we call they never have the parts and "will let us know". Its getting frustrating getting these notices from different sources and not being able to take care of it. Please help us to het this done by directing us to a repair shop that has the parts available.

Rear roof rail airbag inflator endcap failure. The endcap of the steel inflator separated and ejected throught the roof liner, read passenger window and through the wall of a house. The vehicle was parked in the driveway at the time and was not running. I was next the the window at the time of failure and was narrowly missed by the end cap but was his by the full force of the passenger window and sustained minor abrasions and closed head trauma from the glass. A police report was filed, and the manufacturer was notified. The vehicle is currently at a dealership awaiting inspection by the manufacturer.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while attempting to sell the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 87,000. After obtaining a Carfax Report on the vehicle, it was discovered that as of April 2024, the odometer mileage was listed as 217,350.

The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the high-pressure diesel fuel pump had failed, and the entire fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

The rear sliding glass/defrost has a defect in where is short out and overheats the contacts. This in turn get so hot that is start to melt contacts and all the plastic where the contacts are in addition the rear window shatters. Gm has a recall N192265660 but my vin isnt included. on [XXX] my 2015 Chevy 2500 crew cab LTZ Duramax with 50,959 miles stopped running going down a large hill, Barely made it off the road coasting into a Fire department parking lot. 2nd failure occurred while driving on a main route in WV. At 66,600 miles [XXX], was almost rear ended because truck again just stopped running going 50 mph around a turn. Diesel fuel was pouring onto the hot engine second occurrence. I don't know how the truck didn't catch on fire. Thank [XXX] I wasn't towing my 14,500 lb fifth wheel either time. Both incidents were because of a CP4 injection Pump Failure completely taking out and polluting the entire fuel system. Per GM service department in Wintersville, Oh. Sudden and violent shattering of the rear window during the use of the rear defogger. The passenger side panel of the rear window on my 2015 2500HD LTZ suddenly and violently shattered on 12/09/2024. Glass fell out of the window while traveling on the highway at 70 MPH! The attached images appear to indicate the shattering started from the lower corner of the window nearest the sliding section and the center of the window is where the glass blew out of the window. Replacement is scheduled and will cost me my $500 deductible and insurance company approximately an additional $350+.

The contact stated while the vehicle was parked with an enclosed Carson trailer hitched to the vehicle, the contact became aware that the trailer hitch ball was lower than normal. Upon inspecting the trailer hitch, the contact noticed that the trailer hitch bolt was fractured. The trailer hitch manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered a discount on a replacement part. The contact declined and requested an improved part. Vehicle stopped without warning due to the CP4 Pump failure in the diesel truck. This pump has been recalled by other manufacturers but not by GM / Chevrolet which is the maker of my vehicle.

I purchased this 2015 pickup as a preowned vehicle in March of 2022. Only a few months later and 2,000 miles, the service trailer brake system warning chime activated over and over again. This happened randomly without any apparent pattern. It happened primarily when no trailer was connected. It has continued to get worse and more frequent. When it starts to chime the message and chime doesn’t just come on once it chimes over and over again for entire drives lasting hours. This problem has gotten worse by becoming more frequent. This is so bad that it is very distracting to me as the driver. It takes my attention off the road and not only that it causes me a headache from the constant annoying chime. This is very unsafe whether towing or not. It is even more dangerous when towing a vehicle as it is unknown if the trailer brake system will work in any moment of need. This malfunction can endanger the lives of people on the road.

Per a report from Car Complaints, the lawsuit alleges that 2011- through 2016-model-year Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups equipped with the 6.6L V8 LML turbodiesel Duramax engine are equipped with defective Bosch CP4 fuel pumps that are more fragile and prone to wear than previous CP3 fuel pumps. According to plaintiffs, the defective CP4 pumps can be destroyed by U.S. diesel fuel, which is allegedly “drier” than diesel fuel in other countries. The lawsuit alleges that U.S. diesel fuel does not provide adequate lubrication for the CP4 fuel pump. The lack of lubrication can lead to internal fuel pump damage and result in metal shavings that damage the pump, the fuel system, and the GM Duramax engine as well. This damage can lead to the truck stalling and losing power, and may require the vehicle to be towed to a shop, leaving customers with big repair bills. The lawsuit goes on to allege that GM was aware that the Duramax engines and related fuel pumps were defective prior to selling affected vehicles, but declined to notify customers. Rather, GM allegedly concealed that the defective CP4 pumps may be destroyed by U.S. diesel fuel.

I was pulling a camper in in downtown Dallas Tx and the TCM failed was most ran I’m not sure how times trying to get clear of traffic to safe place on the side of the road.Dealership told me I was just she it out of luck cause there not making the part any more and that’s when I found out GM has known about this for a long time and has done nothing to fix it.

In 2017 the truck started making a slight ticking sound from the engine so I asked the mechanic about it when I got the oil changed and he said it was a valve problem the GM had no fix for yet. Over time the ticking got louder so I took it back to the dealership last year and the noise as it turns out was from the exhaust manifold bolts breaking off and the exhaust is leaking into the cab. I contacted GM and could not get them to pay for the repairs. After doing an internet search I found out that this is an ongoing problem with these trucks. This is a safety issue and GM needs to fix the problem. Nhtsa made GM do a recall on the 2019 Buick Enclave because of a possible exhaust leak under the floor and I believe GM should be forced to do a recall on these trucks considering the exhaust fumes are coming out directly in front of the drivers compartment.

The fuel injection pump malfunctioned causing the truck to shut down going down the highway. It was taken to a professional and was confirmed to be an issue with these vehicles. There was no warnings at all. The cost to repair was $8000.00

Trailer brake system alert constantly comes on. with or without trailer connected. It comes on from the time I start the truck until I shut it off. It is a distraction when the warning chime is constantly ringing. I can't even use my speaker phone due to the chime constantly ringing. I took it to the local dealer and they can't find the problem. No code comes up on their machines for the problem. No other problems before this happened. Just started about 2 months ago and will not shut off.

I was driving on Interstate 15 northbound on March 6th, 2023. I was driving 70 mph, my truck dash had a message come on that said Stabilitrak needs service. Once this came on the truck dropped down to 45 mph during rush hour traffic. My truck is currently at Young Chevrolet in Layton, Utah because this happened again last week on Monday April 3rd, 2023. The Stabilitrak message came on and then my PRNDML indicator disappeared. I could not get the truck to go into any gear besides neutral and drive. I had to shut the truck off, wait then restart it. This happened when I was trying to back the truck up into my driveway and I was almost hit by another vehicle. The technician at Young chevrolet said my TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS BAD, from my own research of online forums and social media pages, there are numerous others with the same exact problem. Others have gone months to almost a year without their trucks back on the road and GMC and Chevrolet do not have a replacement part, nor can they make any repairs to this module. Some have been told by the end of april they will have replacements, others have been told July-October of this year. This affects model trucks 2500HD and 3500HD years 2009-2015. This HAS TO BE A RECALL AND GMC/CHEVROLET/ACDELCO NEED TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM ASAP.
