CERTAIN REPLACEMENT FUEL FILTERS, FRAM BRAND NAME P/N G3727, WITH DATE CODES X52911 THROUGH X60801 SEQUENTIALLY OR X600141 AND A MEXICO COUNTRY OR ORIGIN MARKING ON THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 18, 2005, THROUGH MARCH 21, 2006, SOLD FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE AND ON CERTAIN SCHOOL BUSES. (TO SEE THE SCHOOL BUS ENGINE SIZES, CLICK ON "DOCUMENT SEARCH" AND THEN "BUS APPLICATIONS"). THE CONNECTOR ON THE FUEL FILTER WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO HONEYWELL'S SPECIFICATION. AS A RESULT, THE O-RING MAY NOT SEAT CORRECTLY ON THE FUEL LINE.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 18, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-890-2075 (OPTION 1).

CERTAIN FABTECH AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT PITMAN ARMS, P/NOS. FTS71000 AND FTS71001, INSTALLED FOR USE ON CERTAIN 2001-2006 GM C/K 2500 PICK UP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES. THE PIN LOCATED INSIDE THE PITMAN ARM CAN SHEAR OFF DUE TO A REVERSE BENDING FATIGUE CONDITION, RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.
Remedy: FABTECH WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE PITMAN AND IDLER ARMS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING FEBRUARY 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FABTECH AT 909-597-7800.

The transfer case wore a pine hole in the case from the oil pump spring lock not securing movement causing me to loose all oil from transfer case. This left me stranded when I could not shift into 4 wheel drive the could not get it to re- engage 2wheel drive. This could have possibly caused catastrophic loss of control had the transfer case locked up while driving at high speed on slick roads or if someone ran into me from sudden lock up of the drive train.

HYDRO BOOST HAS FAILED. IT WAS DISCOVERED BY GARDNERVILLE AUTO IN GARDNERVILLE, NEVADA . ON WEDNESDAY 1/15/2020. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY SAID THERE NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. THEY SHOWED OLD RECALLS ON LIGHTING AND POWER STEERING BUT NOTHING ON THE HYDRO BOOST. THE GARAGE SHOWS THREE DIFFERENT RECALLS ON THE HYDRO BOOST, TWO OF WHICH WERE REPORTED BY NTSB.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 EQUIPPED WITH PRIMEWELL VALERA HT HARRY TRUMAN TIRES, SIZE: LT265/75/R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHOOK. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE ALL THE TIRES REPLACED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND COULD NOT BE BALANCED CORRECTLY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

DRIVING SOUTH ON INTERSTATE 15 IN #1 LANE SOUTH OF CEDAR CITY, UTAH. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND WITHIN SECONDS THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION WITH DEBRIS FLY A HEAD OF ME. I FOUGHT TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN TO PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WITH HITTING ANY ONE. THE TIRE THAT EXPLODED WAS ON LEFT FRONT. THE ENTIRE TREAD CAME OFF OF THE TIRE AND TIRE SEPARATED WHERE THE TIRE WAS SEAMED TOGETHER DURING MANUFACTURE. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BENT FRONT BUMPER, TORE THE WHEEL WELL LINER, DENTED THE FRONT DOOR IN SEVERAL PLACES AND DENTED ROCKER PANEL UNDER THE FRONT DOOR. THE TIRE WAS A BF GOODRICH ALL TERRAIN T/A KO, LT285R70/17 LOAD RANGE E. THE TIRE HAD A 50,000 MILE WARRANTY BUT HAD JUST A LITTLE 20,000 MILES WITH 10/32 TREAD ON ALL TIRES WHICH MEANS THERE WAS 60% TREAD LIFE LEFT IN THE TIRES. WHEN I WAS ALMOST HOME, I NOTICE A TYPE OF VIBRATION LIKE A TIRE WAS UNBALANCE OR OUT OF ROUND. I CHECK THE OTHER THREE TIRES AND DISCOVERED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD LARGE BULGE ACROSS THE TREAD WHICH INDICATES THAT ANOTHER TIRE WAS FAILING. TOOK THE TIRES TO THE DEALER AND TOLD ME THAT ME THESE FAILURES WERE DO TO A MANUFACTURER/WORKMANSHIP DEFECT. MICHELIN WHICH MAKES THE BF GOODRICH TIRES WANTS ME TO PAY FOR A NEW SET OF TIRES AND DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK AND VERBALLY THEY TELL ME THEY MAY REIMBURSE ME BUT WILL NOT PUT THAT IN WRITING. I DO NOT TRUST THEM AND WILL NEVER BUY BF GOODRICH OR MICHELIN TIRES AGAIN. MICHELIN HAS A RECALL ON THIS LINE OF TIRES IN VARIOUS SIZES BUT NOT IN MY SIZE. DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY SIZE WAS NOT RECALLED BECAUSE ALL SIZES IN THE ALL TERRAIN LINE ARE MADE WITH THE SAME MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS THE SAME FOR ALL SIZES. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE SIZE OF THE TIRE.

ALSO, THE COMPLETE UNDER CARRIAGE AND REAR END HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT I AM EXPECTING IT TO FAIL AT ANY TIME. THIS IS NOT ONLY A DANGEROUS SITUATION, BUT IS EXTREMELY COSTLY TO THE CONSUMER, ME. MANY OF THE VEHICLES IN THIS FAMILY SUFFER FROM RANDOM ELECTRICAL SHORTS AND OR POOR ELECTRICAL GROUNDING RELATING TO THE DRIVE BY WIRE THROTTLE ACTUATOR. THE RESULT IS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL GO INTO 'REDUCED ENGINE POWER' MODE RANDOMLY. IN THIS MODE THE VEHICLE WILL IDLE BUT NOT ACCELERATE OR DRIVE. THIS ISSUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON MESSAGE BOARDS WITH NO CONSISTENT FIX. THIS CONDITION EXPOSES AN EXTREME HAZARD AS THE VEHICLE CAN LOOSE POWER AT ANY TIME. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE LOOSE POWER ON THE INTERSTATE AND ON HIGH SPEED 2 LANE ROADS WITH NO SHOULDER AND HEAVY TRAFFIC ON 4 OCCASIONS. NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE ISSUE HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL.

ON THE 17TH OF AUG., 2017, I WAS ON MY WAY CAMPING PULLING A 28 FT RV WITH MY 3/4 TON CHEV PU, WHEN MY LEFT REAR TIRE WENT FLAT. I PUT ON THE SPARE TIRE AND DROVE 12 MILES AND THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT, THE NEXT DAY I WENT INTO A TIRE SHOP FOR NEW TIRES AND MY OTHER TWO GOOD TIRES WERE BOTH LEAKING AT THE VALUE STEM. THE ONLY DAMAGE WAS THE TIRES.

BRAKE LINES AND RELATED CALIPERS CONTINUE TO RUST AND FAIL. HAVE NOW LOST BRAKES WHILE DRIVING DUE TO FAILURE OF VARIOUS BRAKE LINES THREE TIMES. TWICE I LOST THE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. ONCE WHILE BACKING SLOWLY DOWN A RAMP TO A DOCK. HAVE HAD LINES REPLACED 3 TIMES NOW. CALIPERS ALSO REPLACE. VEHICLE IN SHOP FOR EMERGENCY REPAIR NOW. PREVIOUS DEALERS HAVE SAID THIS PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE NEW BRINE MATERIAL APPLIED TO ROADS BY DOT IN WINTER. NOTE THAT I DO CLEAN UNDERCARRIAGE TO REMOVE SALT. ALSO HAVE HAD SEVERAL OLDER VEHICLES OTHER MAKES/ MODELS DURING SAME TIME PERIOD AND HAVE NOT HAD THIS ISSUE. WHILE TRAVELING 50 MPH TOWING A BOAT APPLIED THE BRAKES , THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH THE UNITS FINALLY STOPPING . ALL BRAKE FAILURE WARNING LIGHTS LIGHT UP ON THE DASH AND UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THE BRAKE LINE TO THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BLEW OUT ALL THE BRAKE FLUID DIRECTLY UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR. ALL REMAINING BRAKE LINES ARE SEVERELY RUSTED AND APPEAR SWOLLEN AS TO BE READY TO BURST AS WELL UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR ALONG THE FRAME RAIL. VEHICLE HAS 2,760 ENGINE RUNNING HOURS ON IT WITH 82,500 MILES DRIVEN. ALL BRAKE LINES ARE ORIGINAL TO THE TRUCK .DEALER ESTIMATE TO REPLACE ALL BRAKE LINES WAS IN EXCESS OF $2,000. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEVER OFF ROAD. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND THIS VEHICLE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE WHICH THANKFULLY DID NOT END IN A CRASH. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION WITH OTHER SIMILAR TRUCK OWNERS I HAVE DISCOVERED THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM THAT IN NOW SURFACING AND MAY RESULT WITH TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES IF NOT ADDRESSED BY NHTSA AND GM IMMEDIATELY.

PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS RUST AND BREAK OFF ON ALL GM FULL SIZE TRUCKS. I HAVE 2004 SILVERADO 2500 HD WITH 61K MILES, PROBLEM STARTED AT 56K MILES AS A MILD TICK THAT WENT AWAY WHEN ENGINE WARMED UP AND PROGRESSED TO CONSTANT LEAK WHEN ENGINE WAS UNDER LOAD , TWO REAR EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKE OFF CAUSING EXHAUST LEAK. SEEMS ALL TRUCK ENGINES HAVE THIS PROBLEM FROM 1999 -2007. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY GM .

ON 4/28/2016 TRAVELING TO WORK FOLLOWING A TRACTOR TRAILER IN A 55 MPH ZONE, THE TRACTOR TRAILER ABRUPTLY MERGED INTO THE RIGHT TURN LANE AFTER A CURVE WITHOUT A SIGNAL LEAVING TWO STOPPED CARS IN MY TRAVEL LANE MAKING A LEFT TURN. I APPLIED HARD PRESSURE TO MY BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I IMPACTED AN AVALANCHE THAT WAS PUSHED INTO A SMALL COMPACT CAR CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND THE AVALANCHE. THE DRIVER OF THE AVALANCHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH MINOR INJURIES. WHILE AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE I NOTICED FLUID LEAKING UNDER MY TRUCK JUST BEHIND THE LEFT REAR TIRE. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE TO A BODY SHOP WHERE THEY DISCOVERED 2 RUPTURED BRAKE LINES IN BETWEEN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND PROPORTIONING VALVE. ATTACHED PICTURES SHOW SEVERALLY RUSTED BRAKE LINES WITH NO OTHER RUST OR CORROSION ON PARTS IN THE SURROUNDING AREA. INITIAL ESTIMATE FOR REPAIRS ON MY TRUCK WERE $6,371 BEFORE TEAR DOWN.

HAD I NOT MANAGED TO GET VEHICLE STOPPED WITH AGGRESSIVELY PUMPING BRAKE PEDAL WHILE READY ON PARKING BRAKE WE WOULD HAVE GONE INTO THREE LANES OF CROSS TRAFFIC GOT VEHICLE HOME AND FOUND EXTREMELY CORRODED BRAKE LINES UNDERNEATH DRIVER SIDE WITH ONE LEAKING OVER THE YEARS I'VE WORKED AROUND EQUIPMENT AND NEVER SEEN ANYTHING THIS BAD ON A PASSENGER VEHICLE OF ANY KIND. WE LIVE IN THE SOUTH AND THIS VEHICLE IS NOT AFFECTED BY EXTREME WINTER CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 05/31/2016*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED AS HE APPROACHED A STOP SIGN, HE PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. HE PUMPED THE BRAKE AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED THE VEHICLE SAFELY. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK THE RUSTED BRAKE LINES ON MY TRUCK FAILED. SADLY, GM HAS KNOWN FOR YEARS THAT THESE LINES WERE MADE POORLY AND THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE. YET THEY HAVE FAILED TO NOTIFY CONSUMERS OR VOLUNTARILY REPLACE THESE PARTS WITH SOME OF HIGHER QUALITY. UNFORTUNATELY, THE NHTSA ISN'T ANY BETTER, AS THEY HAVE BEEN "INVESTIGATING" THIS ISSUE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS BUT HAVE YET TO FORCE THE AUTO MAKER TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. CLEARLY NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE DIED FROM THIS ISSUE TO MERIT THEM WORKING IN THE PUBLICS BEST INTEREST AND NOT BE IN THE AUTO MAKERS BACK POCKET.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE, IT INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE PARKED IN THE CONTACT'S GARAGE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

THE SERVICE MANAGER REPORTED THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD BE SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE THE REPAIR PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I LATER LEARNED THAT THE SERVICE BULLETIN IS #05-06-04-047C. THE BULLETIN ADDRESSES "A SEVERE REDUCTION IN ENGINE POWER (LIMP HOME MODE)" I WAS CHARGED $1,076 FOR REPAIRS FOR A KNOWN DEFECT THAT CHEVROLET KNEW ABOUT.
