CERTAIN HONEYWELL FRAM RACING BRAND HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 25, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, AND SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES LIST ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS NOT BEARING A DATE CODE IN THIS RANGE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. THE GASKET OF THE OIL FILTER BECOMES MORE PLIABLE UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL REPLACE THE AFFECTED OIL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING NOVEMBER 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLL-FREE AT 1-800-890-2075.

Odometer Fraud. The contact previously owned a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that a friend was doing research on Facebook Market and discovered that the contact's former vehicle was listed on the website. The contact then discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was sold through a private sale. Upon original sale of the vehicle, the mileage was approximately 330,000 and at the time of searching the vehicle on Facebook Market, the mileage was 123,456.

The contact owns a 1989 Chevrolet C/K2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission was slipping. The vehicle was driven back to the residence. The contact’s husband replaced the spark plugs and added transmission fluid. The contact stated that the following day, the vehicle was driving sluggish, and the gear shifter failed to function as intended. While the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact's husband lifted the hood and noticed transmission fluid was leaking out of the transmission line. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission line failure. The contact was informed that the transmission line needed to be replaced. The contact received Manufacturer Recall Notification N930018. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the recall repair was performed. The contact stated that after the recall repair was completed the failure began. The contact stated that the failure did not began until the recall repair was performed. The contact was informed that the transmission line needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the transmission line would be replaced under warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 300,000.

Tire size LT245/75R16 While driving on highway at speeds between 55 and 65 mph, front driver's side tire started to vibrate. Cause of vibration was not known at the time. Within 50 miles of driving, the entire tread on the front left tire separated from the tire while traveling at 55 mph. The tire has less than 12,000 miles of wear on it at the time of failure, and the tires were bought new. Control of the vehicle was maintained during tread separation and fortunately the projectile tread did not hit other cars or people. Tire remnants are available for inspection.

WHEN COMING TO A STOP SIGN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO STEER INTO A PARKING LOT AND COASTED TO A STOP. I HAD NO BRAKES FRONT OR REAR. WHEN I STOPPED AT THE PREVIOUS STOP SIGN THE BRAKES WORKED AS USUAL. AFTER HAVING THE PICKUP TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP I WAS TOLD AND SHOWN THAT THE BRAKE LINES AT THE FRAME BEHIND THE LEFT TIRE HAD RUSTED THROUGH. THIS FAILURE CAME WITH NO WARNING AND AT NO TIME DID THE DASH BRAKE LIGHT COME ON.

THE PEDAL HELD FOR A SECOND AND THEN QUICKLY DROPPED TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE TO THE RIGHT OF THE TRUCK, MISSING IT AND PUSHED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. REALIZING I ENCOUNTERED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE I CAUTIOUSLY DROVE THE TRUCK INTO A MCDONALD'S PARKING LOT AT THE CORNER. THERE WAS NO BRAKE WARNING LIGHT COME ON. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK. ON THE DRIVERS SIDE UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR THE UNDERSIDE WAS SOAKED WITH BRAKE FLUID. WHERE THE 4 BRAKELINES ARE BUNDLED TOGETHER DIRECTLY ON THE FRAME UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR, ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAS A SPLIT IN IT. THE TRUCK IS PRESENTLY BEING EVALUATED FOR REPAIR.

I HAD JUST PICKED UP A TRAILER AT U HAUL AND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HILL IN FRONT OF THEIR STORE TO FINISH SIGNING THE PAPERWORK. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I CAME CLOSE TO RUNNING INTO THE U HAUL BUILDING BUT THE TRUCK FINALLY STOPPED JUST IN TIME. I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND GOT OUT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED. I WENT TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK, LOOKED UNDER AND SAW NOTHING. I WENT TO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK AND LOOKED UNDER AND THERE WAS FLUID STEADILY DRIPPING AND A HUGE PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID UNDER THE TRUCK. I DISCONNECTED THE TRAILER AND CALLED A FRIEND TO PICK ME UP. ONCE I GOT THE TRUCK HOME, I BEGAN SEARCHING FOR THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK (AT THIS POINT I THOUGHT I HAD BUSTED A BRAKE HOSE) I QUICKLY REALIZED THIS WAS NOT A BRAKE HOSE THAT HAD RUPTURED. THE BRAKE LINE THAT RUNS PAST THE GAS TANK AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND HAD A HOLE IN IT. ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTING IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I TOOK A PICTURE OF THE LINE WITH THE HOLE AND WENT OFF TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD BY THE YOUNG MAN WORKING THE PARTS COUNTER THAT CHEVROLET DID NOT SELL REPLACEMENT BRAKE LINES. HE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY BULK BRAKE TUBING AND MAKE MY OWN LINES. I LET HIM KNOW THAT THE LINE THAT RUPTURED ON MY TRUCK HAD OVER 20 BENDS ON IT AND THAT THE LAST FOUR BENDS WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT TO BEND BY HAND. I GOT NOWHERE WITH CHEVROLET ON REPLACEMENT PARTS. I WOUND UP ORDERING NEW STAINLESS STEEL LINES FROM INLINE TUBE. I REPLACED ALL THE BRAKE LINES. WHILE TAKING THE FUEL TANK OUT SO I COULD INSTALL THE NEW BRAKE LINES......IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT ALL OF THE FUEL LINES WERE RUSTING ALSO. I REPLACED THEM AS WELL. LIMPED VEHICLE HOME, PLACED ON STANDS, PULLED WHEEL AND FOUND METAL END OF FLEXIBLE BRAKE LINE ADJACENT TO THE HOLLOW BOLT THAT CONNECTS TO CALIPER WAS NOW MULTIPLE LAYERS OF RUST SATURATED WITH BRAKE FLUID. ORDERED IN A REPLACEMENT LINE AND REPLACED. OLD LINE RETAINED AND EXCESS RUST FLAKED BACK TO REVEAL A PIN HOLE RUST THROUGH ROUGHLY 1/2 INCH ABOVE CALIPER MOUNTING POINT. RESIDUAL BRAKING AT TIME OF FAILURE WAS NOT CAPABLE OF STOPPING A VEHICLE QUICKLY IN TRAFFIC OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND A STREAM OF HYDRAULIC BRAKE FLUID HIT MY WIFE. A BRAKE LINE HAD BURST AND I COMPLETELY LOST BRAKES. I HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER THEY CHARGED $650 TO REPLACE THE RUSTED BRAKE LINE THAT HAD BURST. NOW I HAVE LOST BRAKES AGAIN 6/21/13 ANOTHER LEAK FROM A RUSTED OUT HOLE IN THE BRAKE LINE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET K2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP WITH THE BRAKES DEPRESSED, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED. THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

HE WAS ALSO SHOCKED TO FIND THAT FOR ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES, HE HAD TO REMOVE THE TRUCK BED, IN ORDER TO SEE IT. THE FIRST RUPTURE OCCURRED ON THE LINE RUNNING FROM THE METERING OR PROPORTIONAL VALVE TO THE REAR BRAKES. THERE WAS NO WAY HE COULD SEE THAT AREA. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED DURING BLEEDING AND TESTING OF THE FIRST REPAIR. THE THIRD LEAK APPEARED BY THE MOVEMENT OF THE LINE DURING THE SECOND REPAIR. ALL WERE DUE TO CORROSION IN WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN NON-CORROSIVE MATERIAL. ON 11/23/2011 AT 6:45 AM EST, I WAS HEADED DOWN A SNOW COVERED ROAD WHEN I NOTICED A PLOW TRUCK COMING TOWARDS ME AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I THEN HIT THE BRAKES AT NORMAL PRESSURE AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NEXT TO NO RESISTANCE, HAVING NO BRAKES I DOWNSHIFTED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SLOWING ME BUT NOT FAST ENOUGH, I COLLIDED WITH A FIRE HYDRANT AT THE TOP OF A STEEP EMBANKMENT ON THE SIDE OF THE AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH AND KNOCKED THE FIRE HYDRANT OUT OF THE GROUND. HAD THE FIRE HYDRANT NOT BEEN THERE, I COULD'VE FELL MORE THAN 50 FEET DOWN TO MY DEMISE. LUCKILY, THE HYDRANT WAS SHUT OFF AND THE ONLY DAMAGE (BECAUSE THE PLOW FRAME ABSORBED MOST OF THE IMPACT) WAS THE FRONT BUMPER. I HAVE HAD TO PAY $75 JUST TO HAVE THE LINE PATCHED GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE TRUCK TO BE DRIVABLE, WITH IMMINENT FAILURE OF THE REAR BRAKE LINES ACROSS THE REAR AXLE AND THE FRONT BRAKE LINES TO THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH BOTH MY CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 (MODEL YEAR 2000) AND MY CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 (MODEL YEAR 1999). *TR
