CP4 high pressure fuel pump failed causing Loss of Motive Power (LOMP) in Oct of 2018. Truck became hard to steer and brake but I was traveling at a lower speed. Had it of been 1 hour later I would have been at freeway speeds pulling a 13000lbs trailer. I had the truck towed to a local dealer where they diagnosed the truck as having a failed CP4 high pressure fuel pump made by Bosch. They informed me that the entire fuel system would have to be replaced do to the large amount of metal contaminants that this catastrophic failure produces and spreads though out the entire system. The total cost for the repairs were not covered under any type of warranty or recall and had to be paid entirely out of pocket. Not only was this a huge inconvenience as I was trying to leave town for a vacation it was very very expensive. I still can not understand why there has never been a recall on this issue. I think it can be related to a safety issue as a LOMP. I believe GM knew that the CP4 pump was and could be a faulty product but continued to use it.

TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM). FAILURE OF THIS PART LEAVES THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE AND UNABLE TO DRIVE. BEING STRANDED, OR IN TRAFFIC CAN CAUSE INJURY TO MYSELF OR ANY OTHER DRIVER THAT MAY ENCOUNTER ME DISABLED UNKNOWN, MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE. DEALER INVENTORY OF THE PART IS EXHAUSTED AND TRUCKS ARE SITTING INOPERABLE ALL OVER THE U.S.A. NO INDICATIONS OF A ISSUE WERE DISPLAYED PRIOR TO THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM DOES DISPLAY ON DASH, AFTER THE PROBLEM SHOWS UP
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH and slowing for a traffic signal, the vehicle downshifted very hard. The contact stated that there was an audible clunking sound while the transmission was downshifting. The contact stated that at approximately 1 MPH, the rear wheels locked up and the vehicle came to a sudden stop. The contact stated that the failure had recurred and was unpredictable. The contact stated that the "Shift Inhibited" message was displayed. The contact stated that the rough shifting occurred at various speeds while upshifting or downshifting. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the Transmission Control Module (TCM) needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the TCM module was on a national back order. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.
The DEF system on this vehicle has failed three times since we bought it in 2021. The weather was not pleasant and in one case it was extremely dangerous. The DEF system froze up and fortunately I was able to limp it into a dealer who managed to get it working again but not after losing half a day and spending a couple hundred dollars. The second time a sensor failed and I was able to reset the system myself via removing all the electricity from the vehicle and doing what they call a shady tree reset. The third time the vehicle went into limp mode on us was when a sensor failed and the DEF pump failed at the same time. Chevy refused to help us cover the cost of repairs and refuses to replace the defective system. The vehicle might be over ten years old but it is like showroom new, it only had 20,000 miles on it in 2021 when we bought it and the previous owner took very good care of the truck. The vehicle now only has 32,000 miles on it. Our main argument is that Chevy aka GM knows about the defective systems and refuses to replace them. I have been in the transportation industry for a good part of my life and I know vehicles, especially diesel operated vehicles. The DEF systems are a complete joke and need to be removed especially for people who live in very cold climates.

CAN YOU HELP MEFIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO NEXT.I HAVE NO AUDIBLE INDICATOR LETTING ME KNOW DOOR IS OPEN WHILE KEY IS IN IGNITION AND AUDIBLE INDICATOR LETTING ME KNOW IF SEATBELT IS BUCKLED AND I AM A OVER THE ROAD CARRIER AND SPEND ALOT OF TIME IN MY TRUCK. THANK YOU
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, EXITING TO AN OFF-RAMP, TRUCK LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES SIMULTANEOUSLY, WITHOUT ANY PRIOR INDICATIONS OF MECHANICAL TROUBLE. CHEVROLET CURRENTLY SHOWS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND A COLLISION WAS AVOIDED. WHY WOULD ONE CRITICAL SYSTEM'S PUMP--POWER STEERING--BE USED TO DRIVE A SECOND CRITICAL SYSTEM'S PUMP--HYDROBOOSTER?

TAKATA RECALL NOT REPAIRED
TAKATA RECALL NOTHING YET BUT NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING WITH A UNSTABLE BOMB IN MY VEHICLE. WHATS THE HOLD UP WITH A REPLACEMENT?
TAKATA RECALL: I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE DANGEROUS AIRBAGS FIVE OR SIX TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR & A HALF AS WELL AS TELEPHONING GMC CORPORATE OFFICE TWICE. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY DON'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS. CONSEQUENTLY, THEY LEAVE ME, MY FAMILY & PASSENGERS IN DANGER OF SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH. HOW CAN I FORCE THEM TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS?
RECEIVED LETTER FROM GM JULY 2016 ABOUT RECALL. CALLED DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD ME THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID, GM HAS NOT COME UP WITH A REPAIR YET. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD CALL TO SET UP REPAIR APPOINTMENT ONCE THEY KNOW OF REPAIR AND PARTS ON HAND. CALLED DEALERSHIP 10/26/2017 STILL NO CLUE ABOUT REPAIR PROCEDURE OR PARTS. THEY WILL CALL ONCE REPAIR IS KNOWN. WHY ISN'T THIS SAFETY ISSUE FIXED YET?
DIESEL EXHAUST FILTER (DEF) AND FLOW REDUCTION TUBE ON DURAMAX LML ENGINE. FAUTLY DEF REQUIRES EXTREMELY HIGH TEMPERATURES TO CLEAN - OR REGENERATE - CAUSING THE DEF AND REDUCTION TUBE TO FAIL. HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE A FIRE HAZARD TO VEHICLE AND GRASS OR OTHER TERRAIN OVER WHICH THE TRUCK IS PARKED. GM NO LONGER MANUFACTURES THE REDUCTION TUBE, GM PART NUMBER 25960609 FORCING THE CONSUMER TO WAIT FOR GM TO MAKE PART ON SPECIAL ORDER BASIS - OVER 30 DAYS - OR FORCE CONSUMER TO REMOVE DEF OR MAKE OTHER FABRICATION, ORDER TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. GM IS AWARE VIA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DEALER COMPLAINTS THAT THE LACK OF PART 25960609 AVAILABILITY IS A NATION-WIDE PROBLEM AND HAS A HIGH FAILURE RATE. GM STOPPED PRODUCTION AS A COST SAVING MEASURE. THE DURAMAX LML ENGINE IS IN SERVICE MOSTLY AS COMMERCIAL VEHICLE FLEET. THUS, THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY OF UNSAFE FABRICATION IN ORDER TO RESTORE VEHICLE OPERATION.

IBC ( INTEGRATED BRAKE CONTROLLER ) FACTORY INSTALLED IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH TRAILER BRAKING SYSTEMS USING A EOH ( ELECTRIC OVER HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS) HOWEVER ACCORDING TO REPORTS ON VARIOUS WEB SITES AND GOING TO A GM DEALER THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS FOR OWNERS TO HAVE INSTALLED AT OUR ( OWNERS ) AFTERMARKET BRAKE CONTROLLERS WITH NO COMPENSATION , PEOPLE THAT HAVE BOUGHT THESE TRUCKS WERE NOT TOLD BY THE DEALERS WHO WERE/ ARE AWARE OF THE INCOMPATIBILITY ISSUE AND HAS CAUSED FINANCIAL BURDEN TO THE OWNERS , HOWEVER THE NEW 2016 HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM CORRECTED AND HAVE OFFERED NO SOLUTIONS TO PREVIOUS YEAR OWNERS OTHER THAN THE AFTERMARKET CONTROLLER EXPENSE . THIS ISSUE ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE A CATASTROPHIC COLLISION IF I HAD NOT HAD THE THOUGHT AND AWARENESS TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH WHICH INCURRED UPON ME A $850 TOWING BILL TO GET BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN JULY OF 2015 USED FROM A DEALER IN TALLAHASSEE ,FLORIDA AND HAD NOT USED THE TRUCK FOR TOWING A TRAILED UNTIL THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED OUT OF THE DRIVE POSITION AND INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE'S GAUGES FLUCTUATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,175.
EXHAUST FLUID QUALITY POOR APPEARED ON THE DASH DISPLAY, SO I TOPED IT OFF WITH MORE FRESH DEF AND THE WARNING WENT AWAY.3 DAYS LATER THE SAME WARNING CAME BACK ON THE DASH DISPLAY ONLY WITH A NEW WARNING WITH IT THAT SAID VEHICLE SPEED WILL BE LIMITED TO 55MPH NEXT FUEL FILL, IT DID! I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER THEY FOUND BAD NOX SENSORS 1&2.REPAIRS WHERE NOT DONE BECAUSE I FELT THAT SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF RECALL ON DEFECTIVE PARTS THAT CONTROLS THE DRIVABILITY OF A VEHICLE. ON FEB-4-2015 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM AFTER 2 YEARS TELLING ME THAT MY TRUCK MAY HAVE NOX SENSORS THAT CAN BECOME CONTAMINATED AND THAT GM IS EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE NOX SENSORS AND THE WIRE CONNECTORS FOR 10/YRS. 120.000 MILES WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. SO I GO BACK TO THE DEALER AND SHOW THEM THE LETTER FROM GM AND SHOW THEM MY RECEIPT FROM WHEN I CAME IN 2 YEARS AGO THAT SHOWS THAT THE NOX SENSORS WERE DEFECTIVE WAY BACK IN 2013 AND ARE STILL ON THE VEHICLE AND I NEED THE REPAIRS DONE PER THE LETTER FROM GM. THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE THAT IS NOW ON THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER THE DEFECTIVE PARTS THAT FAILED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS WITHIN THE MILEAGE ARE STILL ON THE VEHICLE AND I FEEL SHOULD BE REPLACED AND REPAIRED OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR $800.00 PROGRAMMER. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY ARE WORKING WITH THAT DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. CASE NUMBER IS AVAILABLE IF NEEDED, GM LETTER NUMBER IS 13386. *JS

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500HD(NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMPUTER WAS PROGRAMMED TO LIMIT THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID WAS TOO LOW. HE NOTICED THAT WHEN HE FILLED THE FUEL TANK, THE COMPUTER DID NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE TANK WAS FULL AND THE DIESEL WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER BUT WAS CONTACTED; THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THE ONLY REMEDY WAS FOR THEM TO DROP THE DIESEL TANK AND EMPTY THE FLUID FOR THE COMPUTER TO REPROGRAM ITSELF. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,500.
