ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4Xe and 2022-2026 Grand Cherokee 4Xe vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
Remedy: Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures and not to charge their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will update the high voltage battery software, and replace the high voltage battery, as necessary, free of charge. Some owner notification letters were mailed beginning December 17, 2025. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a later date. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 68C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning November 6, 2025. Vehicles that were previously recalled for the same issue under NHTSA Recalls 24V720 and 23V787 will need to have the new remedy performed.

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The wiring harness for the rearview camera and the center brake light may short circuit, which can disable the rearview camera image and center brake light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, "Rear Visibility" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Remedy: Dealers replaced the harness for the center brake light and rearview camera and/or the spare tire carrier/harness assembly, as necessary, free of charge. All vehicles were repaired by January 15, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed September 26, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the HV battery fuse, as necessary. Dealers will also inspect the battery assembly for damage and replace it, if necessary. The instrument cluster/dashboard intermittently shuts off while driving, resulting in complete loss of speedometer, warning indicators, and critical driver information. This creates a significant safety hazard, as I am unable to monitor vehicle speed or receive warnings while the vehicle is in motion. In January 2026, I took the vehicle to the dealership for this same issue. The instrument cluster was repaired under warranty/customer satisfaction repair. However, the exact same problem has now returned. My vehicle is not currently included in Recall 30B, but the symptoms are consistent with that recall involving instrument cluster failure. I am concerned that this defect may affect additional vehicles not currently covered. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and consider expanding Recall 30B to include vehicles like mine. The steering wheel rapidly shakes left to right, and the entire vehicle shudders for 5 to 10 seconds. The oscillation does not stop until I slow the vehicle down to below 45 mph. This issue is reproducible and occurs frequently on rough or uneven road surfaces at highway speeds. During these events, I temporarily lose the ability to maintain proper steering control, creating a dangerous situation for myself, my passengers, and other drivers. This condition is commonly referred to as “Death Wobble,” and it makes the vehicle unsafe to operate. Given the severity of this defect and the safety risk it poses, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and that Jeep/Stellantis address the defect under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (3‑year/36,000‑mile basic warranty). Parked my 2023 Wrangler 4xe for about three hours. When I started driving again the brake pedal was hard and it took way longer than normal to stop. No warning lights, no codes on the OBD reader. Toggling max regen on and off made no difference. Power cycling the vehicle didn’t fix it. Pads are warm so the calipers are engaging, but there’s very little stopping force behind them. I would guess there is an electrical issue with the regenerative breaking system or brake vacuum.

Parked my 2023 Wrangler 4xe for about three hours. When I started driving again the brake pedal was hard and it took way longer than normal to stop. No warning lights, no codes on the OBD reader. 1. The Hybrid Battery , yes, Jeep is at dealer since 3/12/25. After daily calls to get updates, including voicemails and emails to service rep and Manager several times, Finally was advised on 3/25/26 (13 days) that it needs the part and will be at least 4-6 weeks more, no loaner, no info, nothing else was provided other then to call Jeep cares to file a complaint--you can imagine how that went---they referred me back to the dealer but did open a complaint/ 2. was advised car could go on fire at any time, thank God I was not driving it at the time. 3. seems its a known common problem and current recall. 4. Inspected by Rockland jeep dealer and still sitting there. 5. no warning signs prior to car not starting. car is a lease and the lease expires prior to getting the car back, I called chrysler leasing and they directed me to call the dealer, called Jeep cares and they advised still waiting on rental authorization so I can get a rental car (which I would have to pay for and trust they will reimburse me- after all this, I do not trust them) , also they said to call the dealer after opening up a case. Bottom line, I am 16 days in , with 4-6 weeks to go with no car, no options as of this claim. I pay 700 a month for this lease and I will be out 2 months---I just asked them to extend it for the 2 months on them or keep the Jeep, Chrysler advised again to call dealer as they cannot do any of that. The dealer not advising me for 2 weeks what ( per Jeep cares) takes 10 minutes to diagnose, not providing a loaner after a week calling for one. I do not know what to do other then start to call lemon law attys?

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V111000 (Visibility), and 25V741000 (Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with Hybrid Mode activated, the vehicle shuddered abnormally. While attempting to defrost the front windshield, the defroster took longer than normal to defrost the windshield. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V111000 (Visibility), and 25V741000 (Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds with Hybrid Mode activated, the vehicle shuddered abnormally. While attempting to defrost the front windshield, the defroster took longer than normal to defrost the windshield. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a safety concern with my Jeep following the completion of Recall 68C. Since the recall service was performed, the vehicle has experienced significant issues when operating in hybrid mode. While driving in hybrid mode, the vehicle repeatedly switches back and forth between hybrid and electric operation. When the vehicle enters electric mode, the RPMs will suddenly spike and the vehicle will call for the gasoline engine. When the accelerator pedal is pressed, the vehicle is unable to maintain electric power and immediately switches into gasoline mode. This behavior results in constant drivetrain shifting and erratic engine speed changes. The RPMs frequently jump from 0 RPM (electric operation) to approximately 3,000 RPM when the gasoline engine abruptly engages. The repeated transitions between electric and gasoline power create noticeable hesitation, jerking, and inconsistent acceleration. This issue began only after the Recall 68C service was completed and was not present beforehand. The repeated switching between propulsion modes appears abnormal and may pose a safety concern, particularly during acceleration or when merging into traffic where predictable vehicle response is critical. My 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has been in the shop at Tameron Jeep in Daphne, AL for 37 consecutive days. After having the recall on the hybrid battery software performed, an engine light came on. When I returned it to Tameron service department, I was told the diagnostic scan showed a fault in the hybrid battery due to the recall software update. It has remained at the service department for 37 days without remedy. The service department says they are waiting on Stellantis to advise them and that they feel like Stellantis "Star Connect" tech line is requiring their service tech to perform the same repeated tests again and again to avoid approving the hybrid battery replacement. I have called Jeep customer care, opened a case twice, escalated, requested area manager, etc., and currently there is no update, plan of action, or timeline for repair. The service department said even after the battery replacement is approved (it has not been yet), it would be more than 30 days to get the new battery. So in addition to the current 37 days in service, it could potentially be another 30-60 plus days. I have been unable to get any help, any plan, any updates from Stellantis. The service department has been very understanding but they can't do anything further without approval from Stellantis. I'm still making payments and insurance on the vehicle.

I am writing to formally report a serious issue with my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe following the second recall repair (Recall 68C) related to the high-voltage battery fire risk. In November 2025, my vehicle underwent the required recall service. The repair was completed at the end of December 2025. However, immediately after the repair, I began experiencing significant performance problems in Electric Mode. Specifically: The vehicle now has severely reduced power output when operating in pure electric mode. Acceleration is noticeably weak and inconsistent compared to its performance prior to the recall repair. The gasoline engine frequently engages even when sufficient battery charge is available and Electric Mode is selected. Before the recall service, the vehicle operated normally in Electric Mode without these issues. The current condition substantially affects drivability, fuel efficiency, and the overall value of the vehicle.

On 1/19/2026 I had my 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe serviced at a Jeep dealership to have recall 68C corrected. I received a call from the dealership later that day stating a new battery was not needed, only a software update was needed. They completed the software update. On 1/31/2026 when I started my Jeep in the morning, the check engine light was on. After stopping at a red light, my Jeep felt like it was losing power. To get it to move, I had to push the pedal down to the floor, the Jeep jerked some and did drive but felt like it was going to shut down. I pulled in the parking spot. Turned the car off and tried to turn it back on. It would not start. The red battery light appeared, a symbol of a charger (accel.), and an error message stating, "service charging system". None the hybrid options were available and electronic mode showed not available. I had to have the Jeep towed to the dealership that recently completed the recall. The Jeep did start when the tow truck driver arrived, but I was worried that it would stall and leave me stranded on the beltway. On 2/2/2026 I received a call from the dealership stating the issue was with the battery and that it needed to be replace but it will take "some time" to receive. On 2/5/2026 I received a call from the dealership stating the battery should be received around 2/26/2026. I was reviewing online comments from other Jeep owners impacted by recall 68C and the issue that I experienced appears to be a common theme. Some reported it taking 4-6 weeks due to the battery not being available.

Vehicle Safety Complaint – Instrument Cluster Failure Component/System Failed: The instrument cluster (dashboard display), part number 68522503AD, malfunctioned and intermittently went completely black while the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle and component were available for inspection and were inspected and repaired at Tomball DCJR. Safety Risk: When the instrument cluster malfunctioned, I could not see vehicle speed, warning indicators, gear position, or other critical safety information. AutoNation CDJR Spring instructed me to continue driving the vehicle and rely on a mobile phone app to view speed, increasing distraction and crash risk. Stellantis later instructed me to drive the unsafe vehicle to another dealership, showing disregard for my safety. Problem Confirmation: The defect was diagnosed in April 2025 at AutoNation CDJR Spring while the vehicle was under warranty. The dealer confirmed the cluster qualified for warranty replacement but released the vehicle back to me against my wishes due to parts backorder, despite it being unsafe. Stellantis repeatedly refused to assist after I filed complaints. Inspections: In January 2026, after the condition worsened, AutoNation CDJR Spring again refused service. Tomball DCJR inspected the vehicle, confirmed internal cluster failure, test-drove it and observed the display shutting off, then removed and replaced the cluster. I was forced to pay $111.63 for installation despite the repair being warranty-related. Warnings/Symptoms Prior to Failure: The issue began as water-like droplets or spots inside the cluster glass that could not be wiped off, reducing visibility of safety information. The spots increased over time, visual clarity worsened, and the display eventually went completely black while driving. Summary: Jeep/Stellantis and AutoNation CDJR Spring failed to repair a known, worsening safety defect under warranty and instructed me to continue operating an unsafe vehicle.

The failed component is the high-voltage hybrid battery system. The vehicle and battery pack are currently located at an authorized Jeep dealership and are available for inspection. The vehicle was delivered to the dealership on December 29, 2025 for recall-related service. On December 30, 2025, the dealership confirmed a high-voltage battery failure. A STAR case was opened and escalated to Stellantis engineering. The vehicle was immediately removed from service and has remained unusable since that date. Prior to removal from service, the vehicle experienced repeated loss of propulsion, Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable messages, and driveline warnings during normal operation. These symptoms were reported over multiple service visits and documented by video. The vehicle was repeatedly returned to service with repair notes stating “could not replicate” and assurances that it was safe to operate, park indoors, and charge. Those assurances were later contradicted by the confirmed battery failure and recall-related safety restrictions, exposing my family and home to avoidable safety risk. The vehicle is subject to Recall Campaign 68C. Despite confirmation of a safety-related battery failure, Stellantis has not provided a written remediation plan, assigned a decision owner, or communicated a resolution timeline. The dealership has confirmed that further action is blocked pending manufacturer authorization. Stellantis initiated corporate contact by phone on January 27 and January 29, 2026. I responded in writing and by voicemail requesting written follow-up and confirmation of ownership. Stellantis did not respond in writing and did not return my voicemail. Prior to removal from service, the vehicle experienced repeated loss of propulsion, Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable messages, and driveline warnings during normal operation. These symptoms were reported over multiple service visits and documented by video. The vehicle was repeatedly returned to service with repair notes stating “could not replicate” and assurances that it was safe to operate, park indoors, and charge. Those assurances were later contradicted by the confirmed battery failure and recall-related safety restrictions, exposing my family and home to avoidable safety risk. The vehicle is subject to Recall Campaign 68C. Despite confirmation of a safety-related battery failure, Stellantis has not provided a written remediation plan, assigned a decision owner, or communicated a resolution timeline. The dealership has confirmed that further action is blocked pending manufacturer authorization. Stellantis initiated corporate contact by phone on January 27 and January 29, 2026. I am submitting this complaint regarding a confirmed safety-related defect and manufacturer nonresponse involving my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe, VIN [XXX] . The failed component is the high-voltage hybrid battery system. The vehicle and battery pack are currently located at an authorized Jeep dealership and are available for inspection. The vehicle was delivered to the dealership on December 29, 2025 for recall-related service. On December 30, 2025, the dealership confirmed a high-voltage battery failure. A STAR case was opened and escalated to Stellantis engineering. The vehicle was immediately removed from service and has remained unusable since that date. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated, and the vehicle jerked abnormally while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair, and the contact was informed that a diagnostic test was initiated. The contact was concerned that the dealer was trying to charge a fee and advised the dealer to start with the recall repair, which was free of charge. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,500.
