Following Hyundai Recall 296 on my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, the second-row “car seat friendly” tilt-and-slide seat functionality changed significantly after the required software update. Prior to the recall update, the seats operated with a one-touch tilt-and-slide function that allow
... ed easy third-row access while using car seats and booster seats. After the recall update: - the seat now requires continuously holding the button during operation, - the seat no longer returns to its previous seating position correctly, - the seatback returns at an unusually upright angle, - and multiple additional manual adjustments are required afterward to reposition the seat properly. As a parent using booster seats daily, I am concerned this updated behavior creates usability issues for children independently accessing the third row and may result in children sitting in improperly adjusted seating positions unless an adult fully readjusts the seat each time. I understand and support the original safety recall, but I wanted to formally document concerns regarding the significantly altered functionality and real-world family usability following the recall remedy.Read more

When I shifted to where drive should be nothing happened. I tried several times as we were now in the traffic lane on a curve. I went completely back to park then cycled to drive and it worked. On the drive to the visitor center I noticed that the blinkers did not work either. Also, what I thought were manual gauges like the speedometer and fuel gauge did not work. When we got to the visitor center the vehicle would not shift into reverse from drive. I had to go back to park and then to reverse. I was able to get the vehicle working by disconnecting the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes. This just happened today and we are 1500 miles from home so the vehicle has not been inspected. I own a 2021 GMC Yukon Denali XL with approximately 81,000 miles. On 4 separate occasions, after coming to a complete stop in traffic and then attempting to accelerate, the vehicle violently jerks and shifts itself into park. I am not pressing the brake when this occurs. I must manually shift the v

This happens so fast, that I am only able to see a red outlined box that intermittantly flashes on the dashboard but I cannot see what it says before it disappears. The incident feels as though the vehicle has been struck from behind due to the abrupt force. This has occurred more than once and creates a dangerous situation in traffic, particularly when vehicle are behind me. The vehicle has been taken to a GMC dealership, which has serviced the vehicle since 2021. The dealership reports they were unable to duplicate the condition after driving approximately 60 miles and therefore cannot perform a repair. This issue remains unresolved. Subject: Safety Complaint – 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ) – Recall 68C High Voltage Battery Fire Risk Dear NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation, I am filing this safety complaint for my leased 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Plug-in Hybrid (VIN: [XXX] ) regarding Safety Recall 68C (NHTSA Campaign
... Number 25V-741) – High Voltage Battery Defect. The recall notice states that the HV battery may become damaged during normal vehicle operation, leading to internal short circuit, overheating, and potential vehicle fire – even when parked or not charging. This poses a serious life-threatening risk to occupants, family members, and bystanders. Current interim remedy is insufficient: Owners advised to refrain from recharging and park away from structures/other vehicles. Permanent remedy (battery replacement) is still under development as of December 2025. Vehicle is effectively unusable for normal family use (cannot park in garage, constant fire fear). I operate in E-Save mode only (no charging), but risk remains per manufacturer notice. Family details: Wife and two children – safety severely impacted. I request NHTSA to: Escalate investigation into this defect. Pressure Stellantis/FCA US LLC for immediate permanent remedy by way of lease termination. Consider expanding recall scope if needed. Attached letter addressed to co-signee. Thank you for your urgent attention to this life-threatening safety issue. I have had two major problems with this car. At approximately 84,000 miles, the engine started making a very loud noise, regardless of speed. It was first diagnosed by an independent service center as a control arm bearing failure. I contacted Honda Corporate and was told that it had to be diagno

Honda Corporate offered a 50-50 split, leaving me with a bill of $8480. This is completely unfair and unjust for me to have to pay this for a manufacturer's defect. In the second incident shortly thereafter, I was on the highway in traffic when the automatic stop-start function failed, and the car stopped and did not re-start. I had cars backed up behind me, and it was a very unsafe situation. After turning the car off completely, I managed to restart it, and got off the highway. The problem continued afterwards, and I had to turn off the function manually in order to drive the car at all.Read more

Good Morning, I’m reaching out in regards to my 2016 Ford Explorer. I’ve been trying to get the necessary recall repairs completed, but unfortunately, I’ve been unable to locate the required pillars for the repairs. I recently brought my vehicle back to the dealership, but was told that no wo
... rk can be done until both parts are available. I was also advised to try sourcing one of the parts from another Ford dealership on my own, which I’ve had no luck with. To be honest, I’m feeling very overwhelmed. I purchased this vehicle used, back in September 2025, and since then, it has been one issue after another. I’ve already invested more into mechanical repairs than what I currently owe on the vehicle. I’m a [XXX], and this vehicle is our only mode of transportation. I’m growing increasingly concerned for our safety, especially knowing that the recall parts are critical and things could start to fall apart — literally — if they’re not addressed soon. With that said, I would greatly appreciate your help in exploring any other options available through Ford or the dealership. Some specific questions I have are: Is there any way for the dealership to help source the necessary parts through other Ford networks or escalate this to Ford corporate? Can you assist with a temporary vehicle solution while waiting on the parts (loaner or rental)? Would there be any way to explore trading in or transitioning into another vehicle, even with the current issues and financial position I’m in? I understand that supply issues happen, but I’m just trying to keep my kids and myself safe, and right now I’m feeling stuck. I would extremely appreciate any help or direction you can offer. Please feel free to call or email me directly. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I am writing to formally bring to your attention a recurring and concerning design issue with the Acura RDX involving the sunroof drainage system. This problem appears to stem from a flawed design in which the drainage channels frequently become clogged, leading to water accumulating and eventually
... leaking into the vehicle’s cabin and trunk areas. In my personal experience, this defect has resulted in persistent water intrusion that not only damages the interior but creates a serious risk for mold and mildew growth, along with unpleasant and unhealthy odors from sitting water. The accumulation of stagnant water inside a sealed vehicle presents a clear health and safety concern, particularly for families and daily commuters. The cost to have the drains professionally cleared at the dealership is approximately $300 per visit. I have been advised that this cleaning will be an ongoing necessity, despite the fact that this type of maintenance is not commonly expected of vehicle owners as part of standard upkeep. In comparison, this expense surpasses the cost of regular oil changes or tire rotations — yet it addresses a problem that stems from the car’s design rather than from use or neglect. I contacted both the dealership and Honda customer service and was told there is no permanent fix for this issue. The best they could offer was to cover 50% of the cost for a temporary solution — drain cleaning — which does nothing to resolve the root design flaw and will inevitably need to be repeated. As a consumer who has invested in a premium vehicle, I find this resolution to be unacceptable and financially burdensome. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this matter as a potential defect affecting vehicle safety and integrity. Given the number of similar complaints circulating in consumer forums and online reviews, it is clear that this is not an isolated incident, but rather a systemic problem that deserves further attention and possible action.Read more

Inability to shift gears on acceleration
The Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) analyzed complaint data provided by Ford as well as complaints submitted to ODI from consumers. In total, there were 364 unique reports indicating various shift quality issues while driving.Ford identified several factors that may contribute to shift quality
... concerns in the subject vehicles, including cold transmission, clutch stay-out at high engine speeds, gear clash or grinding, and gradual loosening of clutch plate bolts in some early production vehicles. The largest percentage of complaints indicated higher than expected shift efforts in cold ambient temperatures. These complaints were related to transmission fluid viscosity and the higher shift efforts resolved themselves with the drivetrain warming.Ford published technical service bulletin TSB 11-3-18 to inform technicians that a lower viscosity fluid was available for use to address the cold shift issues. The clutch stay-out condition typically occurs at engine speeds greater than 4000 rpm.It does not prevent the selection of any gear, but may delay clutch re-engagement depending on how long the driver maintains the higher engine speed.Ford identified rotating inertia of the clutch components as the root cause and replacement clutch pedal parts were made available under Ford TSB 10-19-4.A number of reports alleged increasing difficulty selecting gears along with gear clash or grinding.Grinding or notchy gear shifts may be caused by gradual loosening of clutch plate fasteners, which is promoted by certain aggressive shifting. This condition is progressive in nature and initially results in symptoms related to shift quality/feel.Clutch plate bolt loosening will not result in inability to select any gear unless the progressive symptoms are ignored until complete clutch failure occurs.ODI?s analysis identified only five complaints alleging an inability to shift into gear due to loose clutch plate bolts.None of these resulted in a stall and gear shifting could occur before engine start.A revised fastener was designed and implemented in production and is available for service through a special service message. There is no indication of loss of motive power or unreasonable safety risk associated with the alleged defect in the subject vehicles. This preliminary evaluation is closed.Read more

ACCELERATOR PEDAL INTERFERENCE
ON APRIL 3, 2006, FORD MOTOR COMPANY SUBMITTED A DEFECT INFORMATION REPORT TO NHTSA CONCERNING A DEFECT CONDITION THAT COULD RESULT IN INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND FLOOR CARPETING IN APPROXIMATELY 19,140 MODEL YEAR 2003 AND 2004 MUSTANG COBRA VEHICLES (FORD RECALL NO. 06S43/NHTSA R
... ECALL 06V-108, COPY ATTACHED).FORD WILL RECALL THE VEHICLES TO INSTALL A SHIELD BENEATH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PREVENT THE PIVOT PIN ON THE REAR SURFACE OF THE PEDAL FROM COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE FLOOR CARPETING DURING HEAVY THROTTLE APPLICATION.IN THOSE VEHICLES WHERE THE FLOOR CARPETING DOES NOT FIT FLUSH WITH THE SHEET METAL, THE UNIQUE REAR SURFACE PROFILE OF THE MUSTANG COBRA PEDAL MAY ALLOW THE PIVOT PIN OF THE PEDAL TO CATCH IN THE CUTOUT ON THE FLOOR CARPETING BEHIND THE PEDAL, INTERFERING WITH THE PEDAL'S ABILITY TO RETURN; THE RESULT OF WHICH COULD BE UNEXPECTED, CONTINUED THROTTLE APPLICATION.DURING THE ENGINEERING ANALYSIS STAGE OF THE INVESTIGATION, ODI ALSO EXAMINED THE POSSIBLITY OF THE SAME PHENOMENA OCCURING IN NON-COBRA MUSTANGS.HOWEVER, THE DIFFERENT DESIGN OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDALS ON THE NON-COBRA MUSTANGS RESULTS IN SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN THE POTENTIAL CONTACT BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE CARPETING, WITH THE BASE OF THE PEDAL PAD ACTING TO FORCE THE CARPET AWAY FROM THE PIVOT PIN.THIS ENGINEERING ANALYSIS HAS BEEN CLOSED.Read more

ACCELERATOR PEDAL INTERFERENCE
PE05-038 WAS OPENED ON JULY 7, 2005, WITH 11 CONSUMER COMPLAINTS TO ODI ALLEGING INCIDENTS OF THROTTLE STICKING DUE TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL INTERFERENCE WITH THE CARPET.ODI HAS RECEIVED AN ADDITIONAL 24 COMPLAINTS SINCE THE PE WAS OPENED.DURING PE05-038, FORD SUPPLIED COMPLAINT AND WARRANTY INFORMATION
... REGARDING 86 ADDITIONAL INCIDENTS OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL INTERFERENCE IN MODEL YEAR 2003 TO 2004 MUSTANG COBRA VEHICLES.EIGHTY-FIVE OF THESE HAD CONCERNS OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKING, 70 OF WHICH WERE ANALYZED AS BEING RELATED TO CARPET INTERFERENCE.ODI IS CONTINUING ITS ANALYSIS OF THE CAUSAL FACTORS IN THE REMAINING 15 INCIDENTS.THIS PRELIMINARY EVALUATION HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO AN ENGINEERING ANALYSIS.Read more
