BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, Mustang, F-350 SD, F-250 SD, F-450 SD, 2015-2017 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, 2015-2018 Edge, Transit Connect, 2016-2019 F-550 SD, Transit, 2017-2019 Econoline, and 2019 Ranger vehicles. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Ford owners will receive letters in phases, beginning January 2026 and May 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S89. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V270. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 8, 2025.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 F-Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 4x4 vehicles. A radial damper inside the driveshaft may move out of position over time, which can cause a driveshaft imbalance and result in a fracture.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the driveshaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 27, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S74.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2020 F-Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450, and 2017-2020 Lincoln Continental vehicles equipped with the 360-degree camera system. Degradation of the camera's anit-reflective lens coating can lead to a foggy or cloudy rearview camera image.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2022 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty vehicles equipped with gasoline engines and aluminum driveshafts. Underbody heat and noise insulators may loosen and contact the aluminum driveshaft, which could damage the driveshaft and cause it to fracture.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the driveshaft as necessary, and properly attach the underbody insulators, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 7, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S09.

Icon Vehicle Dynamics, LLC (Icon) is recalling all 05-UP FSD 2.5 Centerline Stabilizer Kits with part number 65050. The kits were sold as an accessory for certain 2005-2021 Ford F-250 4X4 and F-350 4X4 pickup trucks. The foam ring inside the stabilizer "through shaft" may block the piston ports, possibly causing the steering to lock up.

Remedy: Icon will notify owners, and dealers will install a new shock assembly with a revised foam ring and steel support disc, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact Icon customer service at 1-951-689-4266.

If a front seat belt pretensioner deploys as the result of a crash, the sparks may ignite materials such as carpeting or insulation within the B-pillar area.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply heat resistant tape to the carpet and its insulation, and modify the B-Pillar insulation as necessary, free of charge. Water may enter the electrical wiring system and cause a short circuit, activating the switch and releasing the tailgate latches.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will modify the tailgate/frame wiring harnesses by adding jumper pigtails to isolate the tailgate release control circuits and will install a new tailgate handle release switch, free of charge. The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) may not dim when the headlight switch is moved into the "On" position. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Remedy: Ford has notified owners, and dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module (BCM) software, free of charge. The recall began November 25, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C10.

During the previous repair, the block heater cable's splice connector may have been damaged.

Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will disable the engine block heater from being used. When replacement cables become available, a second notice will be mailed and dealers will replace the engine block heater cord, free of charge. The recall began May 31, 2019. The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-250 SD. The contact stated that while reversing, the rearview camera image was blank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rearview camera had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

WHILE ON VACATION TOWING MY 31' 10,000 POUND TRAVEL TRAILER AT 60 MPH HEADING NORTH ON HWY 89 ARIZONA IN EARLY MAY 2019 I EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SCARY WOBBLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND ENTIRE VEHICLE IN WHICH I ALMOST LOST CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL AND SLOW DOWN TO 33 MPH TO GET THE WOBBLE TO STOP. WE WERE HALF WAY THROUGH OUR TRIP SO I KEPT THE SPEED AT 55 MPH OR LOWER TO GET HOME. I SINCE THEN RESEARCHED AND FOUND A FORD TSB CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT TAKEN THE TRUCK IN FOR A POSSIBLE REPAIR YET AS WE ONLY USE IT TO TOW WITH.

TSB # 18-2268 AT 60 MPH ON A SMOOTH FLAT HIGHWAY AND AFTER CROSSING A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK SO VIOLENTLY IT WAS DIFFICULT TO HOLD ONTO IT. ONCE THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO UNDER 30 MPH THE SHAKING STOPPED. BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC I WAS NOT ABLE TO CHANGE LANES AND GOING FROM 60 MPH TO 30 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE (FAST LANE) WAS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER BEARING DOWN ON ME BLOWING MADLY AS HE TRIED TO SLOW HIS TRUCK DOWN FROM REAR ENDING ME. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ARE LOOKING AT IT ON 06/04/2019 @ CIOCCA FORD IN QUAKERTOWN

WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE ABOVE 55MPH A VERY SCARY WOBBLE WITH START IN THE FRONT TIRES.. STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY & THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS TO SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 30 MPH. VEHICLE STARTED DOING THIS AROUND 15K MILES. EVERYTHING IS FACTORY PARTS HAVE NOT INSTALLED ANY AFTERMARKET TIRES OR WHEELS. SCARED TO DRIVE OVER 55MPH

WHILE DRIVING IT DEVELOPS A DEATH WOBBLE MAKING FOR A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION TO TRY TO REGAIN CONTROL. IT HAPPENS WHEN HITTING AN UNEVEN AREA IN THE ROADWAY. IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY TRUCK.

AT SPEEDS GREATHER THAN 50 MPH, HITTING A BUMP OR POT HOLE CAUSES A STEERING OSCILLATION KNOWN AS "DEATH WABBLE". THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND KNOWN BY MANY. VEHICLE STEERING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE.

METAL TYPE ENGINE NOISE ,SCRAPING ,TAPPING COULD HEAR LOUDER ONCE WARMED UP AND AT IDLE. SOUND PRESENT FORM DRIVER AND PASSENGER WHEEL WELL AREA.METAL FOUND IN OIL SAMPLE AND FORD DETERMINED IT WAS A MAIN BEARING FAILURE. COULD HEAR WHEN STATIONARY BUT LESS NOTICEABLE WHEN ACCELERATING . 6.2L GAS ENGINE

WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE KNEW THIS PAST SATURDAY ONLY TO FIND THAT WHEN YOU MAKE A LEFT TURN OR YOUR TURN THERE'S A THUMPING FOUND ON THE DRIVER SIDE THAT WE BELIEVE. WE ARE NOT SURE OF THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. WE ARE BEYOND UPSET THAT WE BOUGHT A BRAND NEW VEHICLE TO FIND THAT THERE IS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE ON IT

AT AROUND 7K MILES DEVELOPED A DEATH WOBBLE SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEN HITTING POTHOLES OR CRACKS IN THE ROADWAY AT 40 MPH AND UP. TOOK INTO DEALER AND UPPER TIE ROD WAS REPLACED. PROBLEM APPEARED TO BE SOMEWHAT LESS NOTICEABLE. NOW AT 10K MILES THE DW IS PREVALENT IN EVERYDAY DRIVING AND MAKES THE VEHICLE VERY SCARY TO DRIVE. ALMOST TOTAL CONTROL IS LOST FOR SEVERAL SECONDS UNTIL YOU BRAKE HOPING NOT TO GET REAR ENDED WHILE REGAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. ITS BAD ENOUGH TO SPEND $60K ON A TRUCK THAT DEVELOPED THIS TYPE OF ISSUE AT 7K MILES BUT AT 10K MILES IT'S NOT EVEN ABOUT MONEY, THIS COULD KILL SOMEONE. FORD HAS LISTED A TSB ON THIS ISSUE THAT I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING INTO BUT I'VE SEEN NO CONFIRMATION THAT THIS FIXED THE ISSUE, APPEARS TO BE MORE OF A BANDAGE. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE ASAP.

2018 FORD F-250 4X4 WITH 6.2L GASOLINE ENGINE: UNDER CERTAIN SPECIFIC CONDITIONS, THE TRUCK WILL CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE AFTER DRIVER INPUT IS STOPPED. THE ENGINE WILL CONTINUE TO REV UP (ALL THE WAY TO RED-LINE) WHILE IN GEAR EVEN THOUGH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS BEEN RELEASED. THIS HAPPENS UNDER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: - VEHICLE IS IN A "COLD START" CONDITION (ENGINE NOT UP TO TEMP) - VEHICLE IS IN "M" (MANUAL TRANSMISSION DRIVER SELECT MODE) - VEHICLE IS COMMANDED TO INITIALLY ACCELERATE WITH THE PEDAL, BUT THEN PEDAL IS SUBSEQUENTLY RELEASED, AND YET ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN UP TO RED-LINE - VEHICLE WILL SLOW DOWN IF THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED - VEHICLE WILL AGAIN SPEED UP AS SOON AS FUEL PEDAL IS PRESSED TO A LEVEL OF APPROXIMATELY 2300RPM EACH TIME, AND THEN THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ESSENTIALLY STARTS THIS "RUN AWAY" FREE REV CONDITION. - THE CONDITION IS MORE PROMINENT WHEN THE TRUCK IS IN "4L" MODE, BUT CAN HAPPEN IN "4H" OR EVEN "2H'. - CONDITION IS REPEATABLE; THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED EVENT AND CAN BE MADE TO HAPPEN WHEN CONDITIONS ARE AS STATED - CONDITION HAS BEEN EXHIBITED ON OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR BUILD DATA; OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS I HAVE SPOKEN WITH HAVE HAD THIS SAME CONDITION HAPPEN TO THEM

THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' UNCONTROLLABLE SHIMMYING OF THE STEERING WHEEL AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD ON MOSTLY HIGHWAYS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS! I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AND THEY JUST KEEP TRYING TO BLAME MY TIRES. THEY TRIED ROTATING MY TIRES AND TELLING ME ITS GONNA FIX THE ISSUE BUT DOESN'T. THE TIRES ON THE TRUCK ARE GOODYEAR WRANGLER KEVLAR TIRES THAT CAME ON THE TRUCK FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND NOW HAVE ONLY 20,000 MILES AND ARE NOWHERE NEAR WORN OUT! IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT SLOWER SPEEDS (AROUND 45 MPH) IN THE CITY, BUT MOSTLY OCCURS AROUND 60-70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY.

3 TIMES MY TAILGATE HAS OPENED SPONTANEOUSLY. TWICE WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN ON A HIGHWAY, AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING IN SNOW IN TOWN. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM MYSELF. IT SEEMS TO BE RANDOM. I HAVE 6000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE NOW.

MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING ON HWY 77 IN VA ON OCTOBER 25, 2018 WHEN HE ACCIDENTALLY RAN INTO THE BACK OF A TRI-AXLE DUMP TRUCK GOING AT A SLOWER SPEED. UPON IMPACT SOMETHING UNDER THE HOOD IMMEDIATELY BURST INTO FLAMES AND THE FIRE QUICKLY SPREAD. THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEFLATE AND MY HUSBAND STRUGGLE TO GET THE DRIVER DOOR OPEN. FORTUNATELY MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE TRUCK WITH THE HELP OF THE DUMP TRUCK DRIVER PULLING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRUCK DOOR. THE FIRE QUICKLY SPREAD TO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK AND THE ALUMINUM MELTED AWAY. HE LOST EVERYTHING THAT WAS IN THE CAB OF HIS TRUCK AND SOME THINGS IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK. HE WAS PULLING AN ENCLOSED TRAILER WITH TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT AND THE FIRE SPREAD TO THE TRAILER AND DAMAGED/DESTROYED SOME TOOLS UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. I HAVE ATTACHED A PICTURE OF THE BURNING TRUCK FOR YOUR REFERENCE. I ALSO HAVE PICTURED OF THE TRUCK REMAINS. I WOULDN'T BE AS CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BUT THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM EARLIER THIS YEAR WHEN HE WAS INVOLVED IN ANOTHER FRONT END COLLISION, IN A 2018 FORD F-250 SD TRUCK. THAT TRUCK ALSO CAUGHT ON FIRE THE SAME WAY AND ENDED UP BURNING UP COMPLETELY. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE REMAINS OF THIS VEHICLE AS WELL. TOLD THE CAR DEALER AND THEY GAVE US A NUMBER TO CALL FORD AND TELL THEM. MY HUSBAND CALLED FORD AND ALL THEY DID WAS LOG THE COMPLAINT AND GAVE HIM A CASE NUMBER.

WITH LESS THAN A 1,000 MILES ON MY 2018 F-250 THE TRUCK SHOWED SIGNS OF "DEATH WOBBLE" AND HAS BECOME WORSE OVER THE PAST 5,000 MILES. THE EARLY SIGNS HAVE TURNED INTO FULL "DEATH WOBBLE" NOW AND ARE GETTING WORSE. THE TRUCK IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AFTER HITTING BUMPS IN THE ROAD, TYPICALLY CROSSING BRIDGES.
