I HAVE AMERICAN EAGLE - 20 " EAGLE ALLOY WHEELS. THEY ARE APPROXIMATELY 24 MONTHS OLD. THIS SUMMER A SPOKE CRACKED ALL THE WAY THROUGH ON ONE WHEEL. THE DEALER WOULD NOT WARRANTY IT AND I HAD TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT. THIS WEEK I NOTICED ANOTHER OF THE WHEELS CRACKED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I HAVE NOT HIT ANY MAJOR POT HOLES, CURBS OR ANYTHING ELSE. MY TRUCK IS NOT A WORK TRUCK OR USED FOR MUDDING OR OFF ROAD, IT IS A PAVEMENT PRINCESS DRIVEN BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. I AM WORRIED THERE IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THAT THE WHEELS ARE NOT SAFE.

I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY DURING FIVE O CLOCK TRAFFIC AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME BEGAN CRASHING INTO EACH OTHER. I PRESSED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP AND SUDDENLY THE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND I SMASHED INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. TODAY THE AUTO SHOP HANDLING THE REPAIRS CALLED ME IN TO LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED. THE MASTER CYLINDER BROKE COMPLETELY FREE FROM THE BOOSTER. TRUCK IS LIGHTLY USED. TODAY I HOOKED UP THE HORSE TRAILER TO HAUL HORSES AND WHEN I WAS HEADED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND USED THE BRAKES THEY COMPLETELY FAILED. I ENGAGED THE TOW MODE ON THE TRANSMISSION AND USED THE E-BRAKE TO STOP. THERE WAS NO WARNING JUST BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR FAILURE. IF THIS FAILURE OCCURRED 2 MINUTES LATER I WOULD OF BEEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THERE WAS A LARGE LEAK ON THE MAIN BRAKE LINE ABOVE THE REAR FUEL TANK. I INSPECTED THE MAIN BRAKE LINE AND EVERY PLACE THE BRAKE LINE IS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME THERE IS SIGNIFICANT CORROSION OF THE BRAKE LINE . 2 INCHES FROM THE ATTACHMENT THE BRAKE LINE LOOKS BRAND NEW. LOOKS LIKE THE ENGINEERS USED A DISSIMILAR METAL AND CAUSED A CORROSION CELL. 10 YEAR OLD TRUCK AND I AM SPENDING $800.00 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE MAIN BRAKE LINE. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE ON A $50,000 TRUCK SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. DEALER SAYS HE HAS NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY FAILURE. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE FUEL TANK LINING WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 125,000.

I WAS AT A STOP SIGN ON 12/3/2010 AND WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO GO, I HEARD A EXTREMELY LOUD POPPING NOISE. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DISCOVERED THAT ONE OF MY SPARK PLUGS AND THE COIL WAS FLOPPING AROUND IN MY ENGINE. I CALL A FRIEND OF MINE WHO IS A MECHANIC AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS AND WHICH PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT, WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT. AFTER GETTING MY TRUCK HOME AND TAKING A CLOSER LOOK, IT SEEMS THAT THESE WERE THE ORIGINAL SPARK PLUGS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY. THIS WAS NOT A CASE OF OVER TORQUING OR NOT TIGHTENING. THIS IS A CASE OF FAULTY DESIGN AND POOR QUALITY BY A COMPANY THAT APPARENTLY DOES NOT CARE IF SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED BY THERE POOR DESIGN. TRANSMISSION COOLER SUPPLY LINE (METAL TUBING NOT HOSE ELEMENT) DEVELOPED A LEAK DUE TO LONG TERM CONTACT WITH THE ENGINE SUPPORT FRAME CROSSMEMBER. LONG TERM CONTACT RESULTED IN A .25 INCH WIDE X .5 INCH LONG FLAT AREA WORN INTO TUBE WALL WITH A PIN HOLE SIZE PENETRATION THRU THE TUBE WALL. FLUID PRESSURE INSIDE THE TUBE IN COMBINATION WITH THE PIN HOLE SIZE PENETRATION RESULTED IN A SPRAYING LEAK FROM THE TUBE WHICH COATED THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE TRUCK AND THE TRAILER THAT WAS IN TOW AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. THE BRAKING SURFACES ON ALL FOUR WHEELS OF THE TRUCK WERE COATED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE LOW VOLUMETRIC FLOWRATE OF THE LEAK ALLOWED FOR CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL HOURS (AT NIGHT ON FAIRLY LEVEL TERRAIN) WITHOUT ANY INDICATION OF THE ONGOING LEAKAGE. THIS ALLOWED FOR THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE INCLUDING THE BRAKING SURFACES TO BE COATED WITH FLUID. THE LEAKAGE WAS IDENTIFIED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED HOT WHILE TRANSITIONING TETON PASS FROM JACKSON WYOMING. INSPECTION OF THE TUBING INSTALLATION REVEALED THAT THE DIRECT CAUSE OF THE LEAKAGE WAS THE AFORE MENTIONED LONG TERM CONTACT WITH THE ENGINE SUPPORT FRAME CROSSMEMBER. THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE ISSUE IS EITHER DESIGN TOLERANCE FOR THE TUBING INSTALLATION OR INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE TUBING AT ORIGINAL ASSEMBLY. THE CLAMPING PROVISION DESIGNED INTO THE TUBING INSTALLATION (ATTACHED TO THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE BLOCK ADJACENT TO THE OIL PAN) IN COMBINATION WITH THE INSUFFICIENT LENGTH OF THE TUBING SECTION CROSSING OVER THE ENGINE SUPPORT FRAME CROSSMEMBER RESULTED IN PRELOADED CONTACT BETWEEN THE TUBE AND THE FORWARD EDGE OF THE CROSSMEMBER. AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE SO THE DAMAGED SECTION OF THE TUBING WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH HIGH PRESSURE HYDRAULIC HOSE. THE REMOVED SECTION OF TUBING WAS RETAINED AND IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. THE TRUCK REMAINS IN THE TEMPORARY REPAIRED CONDITION AT THIS TIME. *TR

THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS OPENED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND CRASHED INTO THE GAS PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BODY REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE BODY DAMAGES WERE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,349 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,360.

TIRE SEPARATION, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROX 70 MPH WHEN THE RIGHT REAR TREAD SEPARATED FROM MY TIRE CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO MY F250 2003 FORD PICK UP TRUCK. MY TRUCK SURGED TO THE RIGHT AND I CORRECTED BACK TO MY LANE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PASSENGERS OF MY TRUCK OR ANY OTHER VEHICLES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN 2 YEARS.
