Icon Vehicle Dynamics, LLC (Icon) is recalling all 05-UP FSD 2.5 Centerline Stabilizer Kits with part number 65050. The kits were sold as an accessory for certain 2005-2021 Ford F-250 4X4 and F-350 4X4 pickup trucks. The foam ring inside the stabilizer "through shaft" may block the piston ports, possibly causing the steering to lock up.
Remedy: Icon will notify owners, and dealers will install a new shock assembly with a revised foam ring and steel support disc, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact Icon customer service at 1-951-689-4266.

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, MY F250, SUPER DUTY 6.0 DIESEL BECAME SLUGGISH AND GAS MILEAGE SUFFERED IMMENSELY. THEN, WITH ONLY 53,000 MILES, MY LEFT REAR DISK BRAKE CALIPER WAS DRAGGING AND STARTED SMOKING. AT MY COST AND ON THE LEFT REAR, I HAD FORD REPLACE THE CALIPER, PADS, BRAKE LINE AND RESURFACE THE ROTORS. ALSO, THE RIGHT REAR ROTOR WAS RESURFACED. AT 54,000, I MAKE A 100 MILE TRIP AND THE RIGHT REAR CALIPER STARTED DRAGGING. I AM NOT SURE HOW TO FIX THIS SINCE NO ONE HAS THE SOLUTION.ADDITIONALLY, I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THIS COULD CAUSE TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE AND A POSSIBLE FIRE RESULTING IN FATALITIES.

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE ON EACH VISIT. I PAID APPROXIMATELY $1100.00 FOR THAT BRAKE JOB AND TOLD THAT FORD WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE PARTS IT WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RE-DESIGN OF THE BRAKE SHOES. THEY REPLACED ONE REAR ROTORS, "FREED UP" ONE REAR CALIPER. I DID ADVISE DRIVERS FRONT WAS SEIZING UP AT ONE POINT AS WELL. I WAS PROVIDED THE REAR ROTORS AND SHOES. THE SHOES WERE WELL WITHIN USABLE RANGE WHICH WAS NOTED BY MYSELF, ALSO A DIESEL MECHANIC AND A INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP. THE DAY I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I WAS DRIVING HOME LOST ALL BRAKES. I HAD IT TOWED AT MY OWN EXPENSE THEN THEY DISCOVERED THE OTHER REAR CALIPER HAD IN FACT SEIZED LIKE I HAD TOLD THEM THEY REPLACED IT COST ME FOR THE REPAIR.THIS YEAR MAY 2013 WAS AGAIN NOTICED SMELL OF THE BRAKES BURNING, ALONG WITH FAMILIAR BOUNCING. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, HIT A SMALL POTHOLE IN THE ROAD AND THE SUSPENSION STARTED TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE THE TRUCK ALONG WITH SEVERE STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATIONS. NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL I COULD GET SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH TO STOP THE OSCILLATIONS. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON MY TRUCK MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEARS AT SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 30 TO 60 MPH AND CONTRARY TO OTHER REPORTS LISTED ON HERE, THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS CORRECT AND MADE NO DIFFERENCE. I HAVE PUT ON AFTERMARKET SUSPENSION AND TIRES SINCE THE ORIGINAL TIME THIS HAPPENED AND ADDED A STEERING STABILIZER WHICH HELPED TO KEEP THIS FROM OCCURRING BUT IT STILL HAPPENS ON OCCASION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-250 SD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE STARTER FLUID WAS DISPENSED INTO THE ENGINE AND VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE CONTAC REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS INELIGIBLE FOR REPAIRS UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINEERS WOULD INVESTIGATE THE ENGINE STALLING MALFUNCTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V270000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

2005 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY, STARTED AT @ 25,000 MILES IN 2008 AND STILL HAPPENS TODAY. HAPPENS WHEN TRAVELING OVER 60 MPH, WHEN YOU HIT ANY SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE FRONT SUSPENSION STARTED TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. IT IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL THE TRUCK. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME ON THE FREEWAY. THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS CORRECT AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE TIRES WERE BALANCED AND THE LUG NUTS WERE TORQUED TO FORD SPECS. TALKED TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A SIMILAR PROBLEM. AFTER A FEW HOURS RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND FREQUENT WITH THE FORD SUPER DUTY LINE FROM 05"-08". IT SEEMS TO BE AN ENGINEERING DEFECT AND FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT IT DOES APPEAR THAT FORD HAS OFFERED ANY REMEDIES. THE NHTSA ALSO KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM. I VIEWED FOUR NHTSA VIDEOS THAT DEMONSTRATED THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM THAT I AM EXPERIENCING WITH MY TRUCK. I HAVE FOUND NO ACTION ON THE PART OF THE NHTSA. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED AND CORRECTED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *JS
