Icon Vehicle Dynamics, LLC (Icon) is recalling all 05-UP FSD 2.5 Centerline Stabilizer Kits with part number 65050. The kits were sold as an accessory for certain 2005-2021 Ford F-250 4X4 and F-350 4X4 pickup trucks. The foam ring inside the stabilizer "through shaft" may block the piston ports, possibly causing the steering to lock up.
Remedy: Icon will notify owners, and dealers will install a new shock assembly with a revised foam ring and steel support disc, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact Icon customer service at 1-951-689-4266.

I WAS TOWING A CAR HAULER AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON I-94 OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO, IL WHEN MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO VEER SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT AND CROSS INTO THE OTHER LANE. I TRIED TO CORRECT STEER TO THE LEFT AND MY VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND. DRIVING MY 2007 F250 SD AND HIT A BUMP, FRONT END STARTED TO SHIMMY. SLOWED DOWN AND THE SHIMMY STOPPED. HAD RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY GIVING INFORMATION ABOUT THE FRONT END SHIMMY. SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT, IT HAS OCCURED NUMEROUS TIMES. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT 87000 MILES AND THE SHIMMY HAPPENS NUMEROUS TIMES A DAY WHEN I HIT BUMPS/DIPS IN THE ROAD. DIESEL SHOP TELLS ME TO KEEP TIRES INFLATED PROPERLY, ROTATE AND BALANCE TIRES AS WELL AS PROPER ALIGNMENT AND HAVE THE STEERING DAMPNER REPLACED. STEERING DAMPNER IS BRAND NEW (3 MONTHS OLD), TIRES ARE AT PROPER INFLATION AND BALANCED AS WELL AS ALIGNMENT DONE AND THE FRONT END STILL VIBRATES, SOMETIMES VIOLENTLY TO WHERE IT IS TOUGH TO CONTROL UNTIL SPEED DROPS UNDER 40 MPH. STILL WAITING ON A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE AS THE SHIMMY IS DAILY AND IS GETTING WORSE AND I GET THE SAME TEXTBOOK ANSWER FROM FORD EVERYTIME I CALL (TIRES, INFLATION, ALIGNMENT, STEERING DAMPNER). SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT, IT HAS OCCURED NUMEROUS TIMES. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT 87000 MILES AND THE SHIMMY HAPPENS NUMEROUS TIMES A DAY WHEN I HIT BUMPS/DIPS IN THE ROAD. DIESEL SHOP TELLS ME TO KEEP TIRES INFLATED PROPERLY, ROTATE AND BALANCE TIRES AS WELL AS PROPER ALIGNMENT AND HAVE THE STEERING DAMPNER REPLACED. STEERING DAMPNER IS BRAND NEW (3 MONTHS OLD), TIRES ARE AT PROPER INFLATION AND BALANCED AS WELL AS ALIGNMENT DONE AND THE FRONT END STILL VIBRATES, SOMETIMES VIOLENTLY TO WHERE IT IS TOUGH TO CONTROL UNTIL SPEED DROPS UNDER 40 MPH. STILL WAITING ON A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE AS THE SHIMMY IS DAILY AND IS GETTING WORSE AND I GET THE SAME TEXTBOOK ANSWER FROM FORD EVERYTIME I CALL (TIRES, INFLATION, ALIGNMENT, STEERING DAMPNER). THE VIBRATION IS SO SEVERE THAT THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO SLOW DRAMATICALLY TO LESS THAN 30 MPH AND MOVE OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANES. THE VIBRATION DOES NOT STOP UNLESS I SLOW THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN, BUT THE VIBRATION CONTINUED FOR MORE THAN 45 SECONDS. I HAVE ADDRESSED THIS WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE EVENT. ON ONE OCCASION THEY COULD NOT ADDRESS IT BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE A TRUCK SPECIALIST ON SITE THAT DAY. MY VEHICLE IS AT THE FORD DEALER TODAY TO HAVE THIS ADDRESSED, BUT BASED ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, I DO NOT FEEL THEY WILL ACKNOWLEDGE OR ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEMS FIRST OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES. ALL SERVICE ON MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PERFORMED AT FORD DEALERS, SO THEY HAVE RECORDS OF MY COMPLAINTS. I HAVE ON MORE THAN TWENTY (20) OCCASIONS EXPERIENCED A SEVERE SUSPENSION AND STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION, CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I OWN A 2007 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY EXT CAB, I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT SHAKING/ BOUNCING VIOLENTLY WHEN I GO THROUGH A POTHOLE OR RUN OVER A BRIDGE SEAM WHEN TRAVELING OVER 60 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES UNDER DIFFERENT LOAD CIRCUMSTANCES PULLING A TRAILER, WITHOUT A TRAILER, FOUR ADULTS IN THE CAB ONLY MYSELF IN THE CAB, WITH AND WITHOUT A LOAD IN THE BED. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW IN MAY OF 2007. THERE WERE SEVERAL TIMES I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE NEXT LANE BECAUSE OF THE STEERING WHEEL PULLING RIGHT TO LEFT OR THE TIRES BOUNCING UP AND DOWN AND WHEN I APPLY THE BREAKS THE TIRES SKID AT FIRST. I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN VERY FAST AND TO A VERY SLOW SPEED TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER 2 1/2 YEARS AND IT ONLY HAS 25,000 MILES. FORD SENT OUT LETTERS WARNING OF THIS PROBLEM AND SAID TO MAKE SURE THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS CORRECT AND EQUAL IN THE TIRES. I HAVE DONE THIS AND CONTINUE TO MAKE SURE IT IS CORRECT AND THE SAME. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-250 SD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, AN OPPOSING VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY, HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWING A TRAILER AT A TIME, WHICH JACKKNIFED AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A UTILITY POLE AND THE POLICE AND AMBULANCE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. ALSO, THE DRIVER OF THE OPPOSING VEHICLE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. BOTH VEHICLES WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE FACILITY.
