Icon Vehicle Dynamics, LLC (Icon) is recalling all 05-UP FSD 2.5 Centerline Stabilizer Kits with part number 65050. The kits were sold as an accessory for certain 2005-2021 Ford F-250 4X4 and F-350 4X4 pickup trucks. The foam ring inside the stabilizer "through shaft" may block the piston ports, possibly causing the steering to lock up.
Remedy: Icon will notify owners, and dealers will install a new shock assembly with a revised foam ring and steel support disc, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact Icon customer service at 1-951-689-4266.

CURE IS TO REDUCE VEHICLE SPEED BELOW 15 MPH. THIS IS HAZARDOUS IF TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED OR PULLING A TRAILER. AS YOU CANNOT HOLD THE WHEEL DURING THIS EVENT, THE VEHICLE WILL CHANGE LANES AND PRESENTS A FATAL HAZARD AS YOU ATTEMPT TO REDUCE SPEED FROM 65 MPH TO BELOW 15 MPH WITHOUT STEERING CONTROL. THIS VEHICLES ISSUES BEGAN WITH THE GALVANIZING OF THE INTERIOR OF THE FUEL TANK FLAKING OFF AND GETTING INTO THE FUEL SYSTEM. IT IS A DIESEL. IT HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP TO HAVE THE FUEL TANK REPLACED, INJECTORS REPLACED, HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP REPLACED TO NAME A FEW. ALL AFTER THE FUEL TANK PROBLEM. SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN A NUMBER OF TIMES WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS TO LOSE ALL POWER. FORTUNATELY OUR DRIVERS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MANEUVER IT OFF THE HIGHWAY BEFORE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. FORD HAS DENIED HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THEIR FUEL TANKS; HOWEVER, WHEN WE CHECKED AROUND WE FOUND IT TO BE QUITE COMMON. IN FACT WE HAD A DIFFICULT TIME SECURING A NEW TANK BECAUSE THERE WERE SO MANY REPLACEMENTS BEING DONE. I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD STEP FORWARD AND ADMIT THERE IS AN ISSUE AND DEAL WITH IT. WE DISCUSSED THIS WITH A ZONE MANAGER AND GOT NOWHERE.

TIRES WERE FINE BUT THERE WAS A DISTINCTIVE SMELL OF BURNING PAD AGAINST RED HOT METAL AND TREMENDOUS SMOKE WAS BILLOWING OUT FROM BEHIND THE PASSENGER SIDE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WHERE THE ROTOR IS SEATED. BRAKE CALIPER SEIZED ONTO THE ROTOR, WARPING IT AND DESTROYING THE BRAKE PAD. POST POLICE ESCORT, HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND $2,400 LATER (WHICH INCLUDED NEW BATTERIES AND 2 NEW FRONT TIRES), ALL THE OFFENDING ITEMS WERE REPLACED. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THAT THE REAR CALIPERS AND BRAKE MECHANISM BE CHECKED AND THEY ASSURED ME THEY DID AND NOTHING WAS WRONG.
