ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, Maverick, 2024-2026 Ranger, 2023-2026 F-600 SD, 2022-2027 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, and 2026 E-Transit vehicles. When towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle, possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights, or a loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Remedy: The integrated trailer module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 25, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C10. Vehicle has gone into LIMP mode multiple times. Was driving the vehicle and the check engine light went on and the vehicle reduced its speed to 25 mph. This is very dangerous because the traffic was moving at 70 mph and could have rear ended me. The F350 has been at the dealership since March 18. The dealer has diagnosed it but claim they cannot get the part they need to fix it. They insist I return the loaner and drive the F350 home with the problem.

The truck has a clunk in the steering when pulling trailers and does not do this when not laden. The vehicle has only 2,480 miles on it. I was told at the dealership that this will not be fixed because they are not able to replicate the issue. There is a TSB on the issue: SSM 53169 2023-2024 F-Super Duty - Popping/Thumping/Clunking/Knocking Noise From The Steering Column - Built On Or Before 12-Jul-2024 The vehicle was built prior to 12-Jul-2024.
I own the 2024 f350 dually truck and regularly tow heavy trailers for commercial transport under DOT regulations. I have experienced repeated intermittent failures involving the truck’s trailer brake and trailer lighting system. While towing, the truck intermittently displays warning messages on the dashboard such as “Trailer Brake Module Fault” and “Trailer Light Module Fault.” When this occurs, the trailer’s right rear brake light stops functioning, and at times the trailer braking system stops working entirely. This issue occurs sporadically and without warning. The trailer may function normally at the start of a trip and then lose lighting or braking capability during operation. One notable pattern is that when I shut the truck off and restart it, the faults clear and the trailer brakes and lights begin working again. This suggests the issue may be related to the truck’s trailer brake or trailer lighting control module resetting rather than a defect in the trailer itself. Because of the repeated failures, I inspected and repaired my trailer multiple times. I have: Replaced the affected trailer light Inspected and checked all trailer wiring and connectors Verified the trailer braking system and wiring integrity Despite these steps, the problem continues to occur. I have taken the truck to a Ford dealership multiple times, and they have stated the issue is with the trailer. However, the trailer has been inspected and repaired, and the problem still persists. I recently became aware of a recall affecting Ford trucks related to the trailer brake control module and trailer lighting system, which appears to mirror the exact symptoms I am experiencing. This issue presents a serious safety hazard. When the malfunction occurs: Trailer brake lights may not function properly Trailer brakes may stop working Drivers behind me may not be aware the vehicle is slowing or stopping Because I regularly tow heavy trailers, loss of trailer braking and lighting creates a significant

The 10 speed transmission is this truck shifts horribly. It will stall in intersections as it works its way thru 3 or 4 gears shifting away while refusing to move faster than a crawl. It has occasionally jerked harshly into 2nd gear at ONE(1) mile per hour. When you are coasting towards a traffic light it will jerk violently downshifting from 4th to 3rd. That downshift feels like the rear brakes are dragging. All of these behaviors occur at any point in city driving, making it risky to make a left turn in traffic and making passengers uncomfortable when riding, at any time they can be jerked any which way while riding in the truck. To make matters worse, the traffic warning lights on the mirrors will lite and alert occasionally when there is no traffic anywhere near the truck. This has happened on remote roads where there are no other vehicles, plants, shrubs or signs anywhere near the roadway. This truck is uncomfortable to drive and feels unsafe. I believe it is all related to the poorly made and engineered transmission.
Our passenger side heated mirror is melting. We are unsure as to the plastics used and why it is melting. This mirror is also a heated mirror with electric connected to it. The Ford Dealer told us that Ford will not repair this under warranty. Why is this melting. What type of cheap plastic did they use. Please help us getting to the bottom of this. Thank you.

Ford Panoramic Sunroof P/N: ml3z-16500a18-c Spontaneously shattered while driving. No foreign object came in contact with the glass. No harsh or unique road conditions during event. No occupants of the vehicle came in contact with glass prior to shattering. The sunroof operation itself, or components adjacent to the sunroof, (e.g. the sunroof shade cover) were not in use during the failure. The glass shattered outwards away form the vehicle causing most of the glass to land in the truck bed, rough a third rained down inside the vehicle onto the occupants. The safety hazard is that glass shards fell down on occupants at enhanced by road speed. There was no way to avoid the shattering. There was no previous indication of wear of stress on the glass in previous weeks or moments prior to the explosion. There was a known class action lawsuit (dismissed) concerning the Ford Panoramic sunroofs spontaneously failing. Beaty v. Ford Motor Company. No official has inspected the vehicle since the failure. An insurance claim was not filed, it was cheaper to perform the repair myself. The repair cost ~$770 in parts ~$120 in shipping fees, 2 hours of labor to clean glass and 30 minutes to install the new panel.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-350 SD. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the 360-degree camera screen failed to display the rearview, and a message stating that the full screen was not available was displayed. The contact stated that the fault was in the middle of the screen display, which failed to display the trailer that was hitched to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the wiring harness was replaced under an unknown recall. In addition, the contact was informed that the rear-view camera display system had been adjusted; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact was informed that the failure was not a consumer error, and that the failure could not be corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the dealer contacted the manufacturer for assistance, but the request to cover the repair was denied. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
I bought a new Ford F350 superdury on 10/24/2025 with 73 miles on it. I drove 110 miles to my parking lot and then on 10/27/2025 morning the vehicle spontaneously caught fire under the dashboard.
Fire
The vehicle part ML3Z-16500A18-E, or rear panoramic sunroof panel, spontaneously shattered while the vehicle was parked and turned off. I was not driving, and nothing impacted the vehicle. There were no signs of attempted break-in, falling debris, or vandalism, and there was no object inside or around the vehicle that could have caused the breakage. With this being tempered glass, it fragmented violently. This sudden failure created a significant safety hazard, as shattered glass covered the interior. If occupants had been inside, this could have caused serious injury from falling glass. If this unexpected failure occurred while the vehicle was in motion or at speed, it could result in distraction, loss of control, and/or a potential collision. The dealer had inspected the vehicle in person and was unable to determine the reason for the failure. The manufacturer has been contacted, but they do not accept responsibility and have not provided a cause for the failure. The issue has not been reproduced, but spontaneous panoramic sunroof glass failure appears to be a known concern on other Ford models. The vehicle had no warning messages, noises, cracking, leaks, or other symptoms prior to the failure. There were no safety alerts or warnings on the dash. The sunroof glass failed without any prior indication.
Fan Clutch Failure at 34,000 Miles, new clutch installed, fan clutch failure again at 47,000 miles. Causes unpredictable accelerations, delayed reaction and poor driveability. Ford did not honor warranty for first fan clutch as when they could service it, the truck was over 36,000 miles. No warning lights or other indicators, extreme engine noise when driving.

I purchased this 2024 f350 from Auto Park Ford in Laporte, IN on [XXX] with 94 miles on the truck. It was shipped directly to me and arrived July 21st 2025. Upon taking delivery there were many safety faults present once I drove the vehicle that included loss of power, the vehicle randomly braking by itself, adaptive cruise control faults, cross traffic faults, blind spot warning faults, forward collision faults, rear cross traffic faults, rusty engine components as well as other rusty components on the vehicle. These safety defects in manufacturing materials, workmanship, improper storage by the selling dealer, and selling of a defective vehicle to me has put myself and my family in an unsafe vehicle. The vehicle has been at the local Ford service center since July 22nd 2025 with the service department stating there is no fix for these issues and is a known issue by Ford. My safety and my family's safety has been put at risk by the vehicle's loss of power, random braking applications, and rusty engine components. These issues were confirmed by Pierre Ford of Lynnwood service department. The repair report states "VERIFIED WARNING FAULTS PRESENT. SELF TEST NUMEROUS DTC'S PRESENT IN ABS MOD. C0051 PPT Q Q1 YES, Q2 NO YO23A FOUND SSM 53892 STIIDING THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH NO FIX CURRENTLY. UPDATED ABS MODULE AND AWD MODULE ROAD TESTED DTC'S CAME BACK". the service center informed me that I could come pick up the truck and there may be a fix in the future. I asked them to keep the truck as it's a major safety concern for myself and my family to operate this truck with all the safety faults, loss of power, random braking, etc. The vehicle will have been at the dealer 21 days by Monday 8/11/25. I have contacted Ford about this issue and requested a buyback, vehicle replacement, a fix, and have gotten no where. I have submitted a lemon law buy back claim because of the many safety issues, but they have put my claim on pause for an addition 30 days. Steering Wheel Misalignment, 2024 Ford F-350 Platinum (VIN: [XXX] ) I am submitting a safety-related defect complaint involving a visibly off-center steering wheel in my 2024 Ford F-350 Platinum. The steering wheel remains misaligned to the left when the vehicle is traveling straight, impacting driver perception, confidence, and potentially overall safety. In January 2025, the dealership performed a front-end alignment in response to my concern, acknowledging it as a deviation from acceptable standards. However, when the issue persisted, Ford reversed course and claimed the off-center wheel was an intentional design feature called “Clear Vision,” supposedly meant to improve gauge visibility and compensate for road crown. This “feature” is not documented in any Ford manuals, bulletins, training, or consumer-facing materials. Ford’s April 2025 written response to BBB Autoline leaned on this “Clear Vision” claim, but during a May 2025 arbitration hearing, Ford’s representative admitted a repair was attempted to address the issue. These contradictory statements raise questions about Ford’s transparency and accountability. There is no engineering justification for a visibly misaligned steering wheel to be presented as a feature, especially in a $95,000 vehicle. I urge NHTSA to investigate whether Ford is misusing this terminology to conceal defects in its 2024 Super Duty platform, and whether this violates federal safety or design standards. The contact owned a 2024 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the steering wheel seized, causing the front passenger side to crash into the front driver side of a commercial vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle ricocheted and rolled over to the driver's side, and did a 180 turn where the tires came to a stop at the bottom of a hill; however, there was no property damage. The air bags deployed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where the vehicle was deemed totaled due to severe front tire damage. The vehicle was then towed to a salvage lot, where it was informed that the link to the ABS unit failed and there was a connectivity issue with the steering module that could have possibly caused the failure. A police report was filed. Due to the impact, the contact's wife broke her right wrist and immediately sought medical attention; the contact's wife was seated on the front passenger side. No one outside of the vehicle was injured. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

After purchasing our Ford F350 in October 2024, on [XXX], the truck did not start. The starter appeared to work, but the engine would not turn over. An error message appeared about the fuel gauge on [XXX], but then disappeared by [XXX]. The fuel gauge stopped registering fuel in the tank. Fortunately, the non-starting issue occurred locally and the truck had to be towed to a local Ford dealer. Upon inspection by a Ford dealer service department, it appears as though rodents have chewed through the soy-based polymer used for electrical wiring. It is currently at Ford City in Urbana, Illinois and the dealer is taking photos of the damage. This will likely cost several thousand dollars to repair. My [XXX] daughter uses this truck to pull a horse and trailer to horse shows often several hours away. The engine failure would have put her and her horse at great risk had it happened on her way home when she stopped for gas or at a rest stop. We will likely have a Geico insurance representative examine the damage as well. However, I don't feel this should be at our expense and affect our insurance rates as it is a "defect" in the design of the Ford F350. vehicle dash goes blank when a trailer is hooked up to the truck. This leaves the driver with no information on the engine. This is a serious safety issue becuse the driver has no information that could protect the vehicle from having serious engine problems and possibly catching on fire.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F 350 SD. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal burning odor coming from the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a faulty coolant temperature sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer; Power Ford (1101 Montaño Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107); however, no cause for the failure was found. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
The nozzle on the flow thru system under the dash (Part No. PC3Z-18490-B) loosened and dropped down directly over the gas and brake pedal. This interfered with the driver's foot causing the driver to loose control which caused the pickup to run into a fifth wheel trailer hitch while the vehicle was in reverse. The tailgate of the vehicle was damaged but, luckily, no one was injured. However, if this had occurred while the vehicle was on the highway, lives could have been lost. I have temporarily taped the part up under the dash but I have not yet discussed this with a dealer. This incident occurred on February 6, 2025 at approximately 1:00 pm.

Main fuse panel shorted out with 6700 miles on vehicle - short created constant power to AC compressor locking it up and damaging all ac components. Cabin filled with smoke at time of electrical failure.
Battery failed on the drivers side. The 12 volt outlets quit working except after driving down the road for a while. They all the sudden started working. Went to Auto Zone the battery tested bad. When replacing the batteries the one on the driver side that failed had less weight then the one on the passanger side even tho they were the same battery make and model
When connected to a trailer the instrument panel goes blank. I am unable to se any important information about the truck such as but not limited to coolant temp, oil temp, transmission temp, boost pressure, etc. having driven trucks that pull hard this information is critical. I have researched this issue on the internet and found that I am not the only person having this issue. Ford is aware that they have a problem and indicated that they have resolved it on the 2025 models, but not on the 2024 models. I feel that this is a safety issue and needs to be resolved. Thank you
New SAFTEY ISSUE .... At about 670 miles on the odometer, the cruise control is acting up, Set cruise control to any speed and within less than a minute it jumps up to another value. I.E. set at 45mph, jumps to 61. Set at 50 mph, it jumps to 61. At 70 mph setting it goes to 86mph!. Replicated this many times today (12/18/2024). It didn't make any difference between Normal, ECO or Tow/HAUL MODES. Testing further demonstrates that the cruise will step up as above after engaging and if you let it run by itself it will make a second jump then a third to 86MPH! Needless to say I didn't check to see what it would do if it hit 86mph!! Not safe to operate. Other than above the cruise had been working fine. BTW, it did matter if lane departure was on or off either as a note. As late as today 12/30/2024 the cruise control continues to act as above. I have not done a factory reset to the sync 4 system either. Will leave that to the dealer. The vehicle is going into the dealer 12/31/2024
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Lane Keeping Assistance. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When Lane Keeping Assistance is engaged the truck steers the truck off-center to the right, uncomfortably to the right. At times it's riding the right lane line, but maintains at least twice as much distance on the left as the right and up to no distance on the right. While the system is engaged, I am continually fighting the steering input to correct it to the left. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I reported the problem to MacHaik Ford, the one service advisor I spoke had not heard of the issue. Forums online indicate the problem is present on 2024 models but not prior to 2024; other owners of 2024 SuperDuty trucks have commented that their vehicle also over-corrects to the right. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. I reported the issue to Ford Customer Service over the phone today (2nd day of ownership), have not heard back from Ford yet. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning signals.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-350. The contact stated that upon approaching the vehicle in the morning during a rainstorm, he observed that both the driver’s and passenger’s side windows had rolled down independently. As a result of the failure, the vehicle had become rain soaked overnight. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 9,000.
When pulling a trailer the breaks are delayed by at least 8 seconds. The hand break normally does it instantly but no longer. This is a safety issue when pulling trailer that it pulling over 20K lbs & not being able to stop immediately when placing you foot on the break. Vehicle was look at by Ford dealership who stated they have had many complaints regarding this issue to contact Ford Motor Company.
Within the first 200 miles of ownership i noticed the truck pulls right and is difficult to steer left with the lane assist control switched off. The dealership i bought it from has replaced the electric motor which controls the lane assist and has performed 2 alignments. The dealership stated Ford instructed them to change the steering motor, the condition still exists. The dealership then stated other trucks on their lot act the same way and according to Ford if more then 2 trucks act this way it is a condition of the truck's design. I have request a Ford engineer update the software on the truck because older models do not act this way. I am concerned the situation can worsen and the truck can drive off the road or the electric motor will over heat from trying to correct all the time. The truck has been at the dealership since 6/28/2024.
It is hard to explain to people and some people might not fully understand what they are even feeling if they are not in tune to how the steering system works normally vs with some type of assist. I don't use the lane keeping assist (button on steering wheel) because it is not comfortable for me where the truck wants to be in relation to the lane. But even with lane keep assist off i could feel different amounts of "intervention" occurring. First i described it as the input force required to turn the steering wheel either direction was different. Like it would be super easy to turn right but took lots of effort to turn left. So my dealer also replaced the steering assist motor. Then i felt like the issue just inverted and was easy to turn left but hard to turn right. But as i have already put almost 7,000 miles on it i have become more in tune to what is happening. It is most affected on roads with a high crown and it is attempting to counteract the crown in the road but is not quick with making adjustments so if you are in the far left lane with a crown to the left and you change lanes to the center lane with no crown it will have a heavy pull to the right for about 30 seconds or more then can sometimes level itself back out but it is super tiring to drive this truck on the road for long periods of time. But yesterday i had a breakthrough. I went into the center radio screen under the Driver Assistance, In Pre-Collision Assist and turned off the Evasive Steering Assist. BAM FIXED There is no pulling or pushing and the input force required to turn left and right is equal. So this did at least confirm the issue is some level of intervention is happening that should not be.
