Oil pan leaks. The F150 just crossed 70,000 miles. At just under 60,000 miles the truck had what the Ford Service tech described as a weap from the oil pan. He said it was a costly repair so just to watch it. At 65,000 it was a steady drip when the oil was warm. Now at 70,000 the Ford dealer is recommending a replacement. What I have learned is this is a common failure on 2015 to 2017 F150s with the 2.7L engine. I suspect this was happening earlier but the Ford Dealer was relucant to bring it up as it would have at the time been covered under warranty. I have also now learned Ford is on its 3rd TSB for resolving this common leak at the oil pan. Hopefully this will warrant a recall response from Ford. From research this is a very common failure and engine damage will occur if the leaking oil pan is not repaired. Please investigate as I suspect there are numerous complaints. Thank you.

POWER TRAIN Mar 28, 2026
While driving at highway speed, in traffic, the transmission down-shifted without warning almost causing me to lose control and almost rear ended by another vehicle. The vehicle then lost power and would barely make it uphill. After parking safely and shutting it off, the check engine light came on and it would not crank and would not show what gear it was in. According to the Ford dealer, where I had it towed for repair, it suffered a lead frame failure and pcm failure and cost over $2300.00 to repair plus a $240.00 tow bill.

SERVICE BRAKES Mar 27, 2026
Truck was repaired under recall 20S31 to repair the master cylinder issue in November 2020. Just the other day the master cylinder went out again and my brakes went out while driving. There clearly was an inadequate repair and Ford so far is not open to covering the expensive repair costs to this critical safety issue.
POWER TRAIN Mar 24, 2026
There currently is a NHTSA inspection investigation going for this issue. I only have 75k miles on this truck. The shifting is off. Sometimes it goes out of gear. I had to stop and restart everything to get it home. Getting on the freeway it went to first gear and I had to pull over. Made a weird noise in shifting. The shift illumination goes on and off. The shifting was acting definitely not right.
POWER TRAIN Mar 23, 2026
The truck out of nowhere downshifted when I was going down the highway at 60 and locked up the back tires, and then it went into limp mode and woundnt drive very fast. The mechanic shop said that it was probably that the TRS and the 6R80 transmission were currently being investigated for these safety concerns and i couldnt agree more. I could have hit someone or even got hurt my self.
POWER TRAIN Mar 23, 2026
I've been reading the reports that there could be a recall for transmission issues in 2016 F150's. I've noticed similar issues as what's been reported. This is irregular shifting, down shifting hard at times, and irregular shifting in cruise control.
POWER TRAIN Mar 23, 2026
I have noticed transmission slipping when transitioning from 3rd gear to 4th. It has done this is owning the truck. There is also a noticeable lagging when accelerating.
POWER TRAIN Mar 22, 2026
Sudden downshift when going down a long hill while driving at highway speeds then applying brakes to slow down. Luckily no one was behind me because its like slamming on the brakes with no brake lights. I could have easily been rear ended or gone into oncoming traffic if it I was on wet snowy or icy roads. It's happened more than one time. Something needs to be done before someone is killed!
UNKNOWN OR OTHER Mar 20, 2026
While driving, the hill descent fault error would pop up on the instrument panel, the truck would begin to shake, and the gas pedal would no longer work. I would have to pull over, shut the vehicle off for a few minutes and restart it. This happened multiple time while driving on the highway and in town. After sitting in the driveway for while trying to get repairs scheduled, the issue got worse, and I would have to pull over every one to 2 minutes due to this issue occuring.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Mar 20, 2026
While driving the instrument cluster would flicker and then the truck would down shift gears. The first time it did, it dropped from 6th gear to 3rd gear at 70 mph, and the next time it dropped from 6th to 1st around 65 mph. It also occurred at lower rates of speed.
POWER TRAIN Mar 20, 2026
Within the past year there have been a few times when driving in 6th gear (primarily, but also happens in 5th) if I press the gas and it downshifts into 5th, it will trip a gear icon warning light, either not shift, shift into 4th, 3rd, or neutral and sometimes VERY abruptly. When that happens, I've managed to get to the side of the road, turn the truck off and back on, then everything is good for a while. It happens randomly in different conditions and can occur and hour later, a couple of days or as long as a few months. I scanned the system and it showed a P0735 : 00-6C error. When this happens the dash usually does not show the correct gear the truck is in.

Date of occurrence 3-11-2026 2016 F-150 5.0 6R80- Vehicle down shifted to first gear sporadically locking rear wheels up around 30-35 mph. Wrench light came on saying see manual. Shortly after the check engine light came on. I came to a stop and the truck wouldn’t shift properly. When I would put it in reverse it would slam into gear. The dash would not show if I was in park, drive or reverse. I shut the vehicle off and it would not restart or turn over. I was only a mile or two from home. Was able to get it home in neutral with the truck off with a short tow. The truck started fine and acted fine the following day. I thought it was just a glitch so I drove it around in the driveway. And once the truck and trans got up to full operation temps the same problem occurred. Thankfully it was still in the driveway so that’s where it sits now. It is very unsafe and unstable to drive. 130,000 miles. I was able to hook my code reader up to it and now I’m getting codes P0707/P0706 all Transmission range sensor codes. P0707(1/ 6) Stored Transmission Range Sensor 'A' Circuit Low DTC Severity 2 of 3: This fault may pose damage to components and should be repaired as soon as possible.//// P0706(2/6) Stored Transmission Range Sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance/// P0707(4/6) Pending Transmission Range Sensor 'A' Circuit Low The vehicle is still at my residence I have not moved it since the occurrence. Has not been inspected by dealer or mechanic. Will have to arrange a flatbed tow to a facility so there is no risk of injury or causing any more possible damage if any exists.

Today I was driving my truck at 55mph on a local highway and all of the sudden I felt/heard/experienced a massive clunk out of nowhere - almost like the truck tried to downshift into 1st or something similarly jarring. It only lasted a second, and then I got a dash light on that said Service AdvanceTrac. Based on the service codes I'm seeing (two of them that are both UO100 codes which indicate loss of communication), I did some research and found out about the OSS sensor issue and think that's what is going on with my truck too. Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get a Ford dealership to do anything about it since there isn't an official recall, and I'm afraid to keep driving it as this is likely going to keep happening - but fixing it myself is going to be expensive I think. It is available for inspection upon request. I felt that my safety was and continues to be at risk - downshifting into 1st gear, or whatever that was, while driving high speeds is dangerous and could potentially significantly damage my vehicle and myself. I have not taken it anywhere yet to be reproduced or confirmed - just plugged my scanner in and did a bit of research. No one has inspected it.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER Mar 18, 2026
The drivers side door latch froze and stopped working, the door wouldn’t close and the lock would glitch when trying to lock or unlock it, once the door did close it reopened while driving, so it never really closed all the way, and it started working just fine once the weather warmed up. There are recalls on this issue but not for my vehicle specifically.

I’m reporting a serious transmission issue with my 2016 F-150. While driving, the 'wrench' light suddenly pops up on my dash and the truck starts shifting erratically. Sometimes it feels like it’s searching for a gear or jerking unexpectedly. I had the codes scanned and found P0706, P0707, and P1921. These are all related to the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) signal. I know the NHTSA is currently investigating this exact failure under EA26001 because it causes the truck to lose track of what gear it’s in. Even though my tires haven't locked up yet, the erratic shifting is making the truck unpredictable and dangerous to drive in traffic. It’s clearly the same Lead Frame defect that is being investigated for a recall.

2016 F150 5.0L 6 speed transmission. Lead Frame failure, Output Shaft Speed Sensor failure/lost communication with PCM. Truck had poor shifting, poor driving, eventually locked in 5th gear and went into limp mode. Only downshifted into 3rd When slowing to a stop. Continued limp mode. Dealer replaced lead frame after diagnosis of the failures.

While traveling at interstate speed (75 mph) the transmission downshifted to 1st gear. truck slowed down ad engine revved up. i was able to get to the shoulder and stop. I attempted to take off again and the truck would on up shift to 5th gear and displayed the wrench icon on the instrument cluster. Had truck towed home, about 90 miles. Was advised that the problem was the molded lead frame in the transmission.

I know there is an ongoing investigation for F150s years 2015 to 2017 with the six speed automatic transmission. I just wanted to report that I've been having similar issues with my transmission, especially when 4 x 4 is enabled, it seems to worsen the problem. I've had unusual and unexpected shifting shifting. It's almost as if the gears are hiccoughing. I do remember they were having one issue on the highway upon accelerating where it dropped a few years, almost lags, but then came back. Like I said, it worsens in 4 x 4 and especially during hard accelerations, that is worth, I would emphasize the most. My biggest issue is upon hard accelerating. The gears slam, is the best way I could describe it. It's a noticeable and loud, slamming noise that happens when the gearshift from 1st to 2nd into third I haven't tried pushing it past fourth on hard acceleration I'll usually let off because it's such a loud slam, and noticeably shakes the vehicle.

My 2016 ford f150 started to harshly downshift non stop no matter how fast or slow I was going and on one occasion going 40 mph getting onto the highway the truck dropped into first gear and caused my wheels to lock up and in result I spun out on the onramp. I then brought the truck to a transmission shop and was told that my lead frame had officially caused my transmission to go out and unusable until a rebuild or replacement is done. now leaving the truck sitting. This is absolutely ridiculous and an extreme safety issue especially when I have done the proper maintenance on time for the transmission for years. I was lucky to not have hit anybody or have gotten hit. This needs to be fixed my ford ASAP.

The rear window made a loud popping noise. It buckled and cracked. The window appeared to be sliding down. A lot of the edge pieces where the seal is broke off. Within an hour a large hole appeared as if it was hit by something. The Ford dealership in Milford, CT told us to call our insurance company and get it fixed by Safelight. We talked to our insurance company by phone. No one inspected it. No warnings or other problems.

My wife was driving our f150 and the wrench appeared on the dashboard, the truck lost power. She was able to pull over and shut the truck off. I drive over and plugging in my code reader and the codes I got said the transmission shifter wasn't recognizing what gear it was in. I was able to erase the codes to start the truck and get it home. I called ford and was told there are recalls for this but my truck was not affected. I called a transmission company and was able to get it to them for repair. The part they repaired is the same part that is recalled on other trucks the same age as mine. So my truck should be recalled for this issue. How do I get this recall to include my truck and how do I get reimbursed for this cost. My truck only has 88k miles on it. This needs to be covered and I need your help in making this happen please.

Wrench randomly comes on and downshift will happen before i am able to slow down.

ENGINE Feb 23, 2026
Very slowly a noise started on the passenger side of the engine and kept getting louder, didn’t know if it was a vacuum hose leak or something else. Finally the noise was very loud especially when accelerating, I took to my local Ford dealership to have them find the noise and let me know. 3 days later, I get a call from the service writer and he tells what the problem was, so I told I would be by to pickup the vehicle and he tells me that I can’t as the engine was taken apart on the passenger side. I told him, I didn’t authorize him to do that, only to find the noise, needless to say I was quite angry and I had no choice but to have them repair the exhaust manifold bolts which had broken towards the rear of the engine. After much discussion, he told me that this was a normal incident with this engine/vehicle combination due to heat buildup. I asked if there was a service bulletin on it and he played dumb and said no there wasn’t after telling me it happens a lot. To me this should have been covered under the long term factory warranty. The vehicle only had 61,500 miles on it. After hassling with him, I asked the price and it was going to over $6000.00, Again I am very angry, as I have no choice, and they end up replacing turbo parts that were just replaced 5,000 miles ago. I can’t believe how they handled it, no recourse and out of pocket $6,000. I made numerous calls to Ford in Michigan and got the total run-around. I really like this truck as it has served me well. Since, the service writer admitted that it was a continuous problem with this issue, as they have steel bolts going into an aluminum head, of course with heat there will be problems. I have heard of a few F-150 owners on a Ford website with the same issue and they ask the same thing, why not a recall? I would love to get reimbursed for all that money I had no choice to put out, as I would taken it to a certified mechanic that does all my work now! Total BS on the dealer and Ford!

The first sign of trouble with my 2016 Ford F-150 was that the blind spot sensor failure light came on while driving. Then the engine warning light came on and the gear indicator on the dash went blank. Also, while the truck was in forward driving motion, it lost throttle control. After stopping the truck and shutting it off, it would not restart. The check engine codes were 0706 and 0707. After clearing these codes, the truck started again, but repeated the same issues three more times in one week. The truck was taken to the Ford dealership and confirmed that the lead frame needs to be replaced.

Vehicle is having ECM module errors and sensor issues just like other Ford models. It throws a code and then will not go above 5th gear or go below 3rd gear until vehicle is shut off and restarted. Once it restarts it is fine for a bit. It can go a few days in between malfunctions or can happen multiple times per day.

I was driving down the road with the cruise set at 60 mph when I came over the top of a hill and I started to decend down the hill if felt like my truck had down shifted and the back tires locked up and screeched a little bit then a big bang happened and had no more drive gear as I hit the gas it just reved the motor up and didn’t move. Upon further inspection I pulled the rear differential cover off and my spider gears and the shaft holding the gears in place was snapped in 2 different places, chips in the gears. My transfer case chain was snapped in half and my transmission had hard shift from first to second gear and a loud buzzing noise. . I took the truck to my mechanic and hooked a scanner up to it and took it for a test run. As it was driving a sensor was telling the truck to shift into park as it was shifting from first to second or second to third causing a hard shift and buzzing noise and eventually losing all connectivity to the transmission and internals as well. I have sense replaced the whole rear axel, transfer case myself with used parts and is currently in the shop swapping transmissions as I needed my vehicle to continue working. Safety of myself and or others was definitely at risk when my rear tires locked up the rear end could have slid out cause me to wreck and possibly wreck into someone else. There was also no warning lights or anything on my dash before this incident occurred.
