On December 23, 2025, a 2023 RAM ProMaster 2500 Van used as a commercial fleet delivery vehicle in [XXX] suffered an engine compartment fire. The vehicle was declared a total loss by the insurance carrier. At the time of the fire, the vehicle was subject to open Safety Recall 25V-720 / Manufacturer Recall 67C, issued by FCA US LLC for a defective cooling fan module with premature bearing wear and inadequate fuse protection on the 400W fan circuit — the exact defect identified as a known fire risk. No remedy was available at the time of the incident. The interim recall notification letter had been received but the vehicle could not be repaired as FCA had not yet developed or made available a fix. The vehicle was inspected by insurance representatives and declared a total loss. No warning lamps or prior symptoms were observed before the fire occurred, consistent with NHTSA's own warning that affected vehicles may fail suddenly with no prior dashboard alert. The component believed to have failed is the cooling fan module. It is unknown whether the component remains available for inspection as the vehicle has been transferred to the insurance carrier as part of the total loss settlement. The contact owns a 2023 Ram Promaster 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel was shaking abnormally. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving over a speed bump or while turning the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with EPS control module connector failure. The contact was informed that the EPS control module connector needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact stated that the failure was a known failure with the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
The electronic power steering system randomly cuts out. While turning on the on ramp, speeding up to get up to highway speeds the power steering randomly cuts out when hitting small bumps. This caused the van to almost drive into the wall going 40+ mph. I had to use 2 hands an a lot of force to correct the steering. This is especially scary because I regularly drive on snowy roads on i70 in the winter. On a slick surface this would cause me to loose control of the van with no way to correct it. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer/police/insurance. There were no warning signs.
EcoFlow unit wires crimped, may be inadequate on size of wire from alternator to EcoFlow unit . Leading to overheating and potential fire danger .
On 3/13/26 we were driving to a location to make a delivery when the steering locked up causing loss of control, the driver was able to correct the van and was able to limp it back to our location, we contacted our dealer Bob Johnson Chrysler in Avon NY where we just dropped it off today 3/17/26 , He stated that he hadn't heard of any issues with that vehicle, but I looked up the cause and saw that there has been a ongoing problem, luckily our driver was going slow enough to be able to gain control before he crashed. this van was purchased new from this dealer in November of 2022 and only has 13500 miles on it. The dealer hasn't looked at it yet but said its out of warranty and probably wont be covered

Nothing has occurred, yet. I was told by Dodge representative, Riazen on 12/6/2025 “DO NOT DRIVE” as a result of the safety recall. As it is reported that 300,000 vehicle are affected by this recall I am terrified of driving my RV! I have initiated a vehicle buyback letter with John Elkann, and complaints with the CT Attorney General, CT Consumer Protection, CT Lemon Law, and BBB.

Without any warning my steering wheel locked up and started jerking resulting in lack of steering and drivability. I was backing out of my driveway and started to turn onto the street when this happened. This could have been very dangerous if I had been driving on regular roads. The van is currently parked on the street and available for inspection as I was able to gently maneuver it to a safe spot. This has been looked at by a mobile mechanic who put an OBD2 scanner on it and couldn't bring up any codes. It has not been taken to a shop at this point. The dealer said over the phone that this is not a powertrain warranty because it is not engine or transmission. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance. There were warning lights on the panel when this happened but they didn't stay on. Checking the internet for answers I discovered that a power connection to the rack for power steering was getting corroded from not being sealed properly and water was entering the connection. Today I removed the black battery cable and checked on the connector to the rack myself and discovered the same issue many people are having. below is a photo from today January 9, 2026. The connector looks corroded and burnt. Why is this not a recall? This is not safe.

Power steering failure and tech said it was corrosion of wire harness and not considered a mechanical failure. Water had entered the power steering rack and harness. Pump and rack need to be replaced as well. Driving on highway and power steering gave out without warning. Had to pull to the side of the road. Safety at risk.

The emergency call / SOS system in my van has never worked. I have taken it in multiple times over the last 3 years to have this repaired to no avail. This is an advertised safety feature of the vehicle and has never worked properly and the dealership has avoided permanently fixing the problem for over 2 years now. I believe the problem is caused by an electrical shortage from bad factory seams on the roof leaking into the Emergency call unit.

Blind Spot Alert Unavailable. Service Required. Randomly occurs with potential for accidents while changing lanes. Dealer confirmed event but was unable to resolve. Appears many Promasters since 2021 experience same problem.
Initial Diagnosis: We had the vehicle towed to a dealership for repair after losing steering while driving. The dealer's service department informed us that the issue was caused by water and corrosion in the electric power steering rack. They also indicated that this is a known issue, suggesting that the wiring harness seals are failing and allowing water to damage the system. Video the dealership sent us of the issue can be seen at [XXX] Repair Timeline: On July 30, 2025 I was informed that the replacement part for the steering rack was on backorder for approximately 45 days. After waiting 56 days, I contacted the dealer again on September 25. They informed me that they were unable to get the part. The dealer stated they could not locate the part even after contacting other dealerships, suggesting a widespread shortage. The reason given was a high volume of similar repairs. Requested Action: I am reporting this to the NHTSA because the sudden loss of steering is a severe safety defect. The widespread parts shortage suggests this is a common failure. The manufacturer needs to address this issue and provide a remedy to prevent accidents. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My company issued 2023 Ram Promaster has an issue with the cab filling up with raw gas fumes during hot weather. They are very over bearing, make breathing difficult and of course they are flammable. I've taken it to the dealership 4 times now over the past year. The first 3 times they've said they can't replicate it and they don't smell anything. One dealership did try replacing the evap canister and fuel tank pressure sensor but this did not fix the issue. Eventually I determined the source of the fumes myself. They are back flowing from the leak detection pump filter and I even have this on video. The 4th time I took the van back, showed them the video and raised a fuss so they gave me a brand new 2025 to borrow while they try to fix my work van. Well sure enough I have caught the 2025 loaner doing the same thing and I also have it on video and have a witness. This leads to me to believe this is a factory design flaw with the Ram Promaster vans. They are supposedly submitting this to their engineering department but I do not want this getting swept under the rug. If you look up emissions recall UB4 it appears they have had this issue for years but never truly fixed it. The manufacturer is getting away with putting dangerous vehicles on the road and not properly resolving the issue.
The contact owns a 2023 Ram ProMaster 1500 used as a company vehicle. The contact stated that on various occasions, employees reported that while driving at various speeds, the power steering remained intermittently disabled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
The oil pan for the van was damaged due to debris picked up on the road resulting in a hole, which in turn drained the engine oil and jammed the engine preventing from operation. The lack of protection to the oil pan which is exposed, caused the debris to damage the oil pan. Ford Transit vans have a protection under the oil pan which prevents such incidents to occur. The vehicle was repaired for $10,172 by budget as this was a rental van. Attached are the documents pertaining to this repair. Installing some sort of protection beneath the oil pan would have saved several thousands of dollars. This is the third occurance in our fleet and other two VINs have been reported already to NHTSA.

The vehicle was rented for delivery services and the oil panel underneath was damaged on the road and as a result a big hole where the metal was broken off. This has caused all the oil to drain and in turn the engine was jammed. There was no indication to the driver until the engine lights came on after the engine stoped and couldn't be driven. The oil pan material has been so fragile nor there were any protection below the pan to prevent any debris picked on the road. The vehichle was inspected by Budget and a Repair Shop and have determined the cause of engine failure is due to the Oil Panel.

The FCW function does not engage if you put the vehicle in gear to soon. You must wait at least 5 seconds after starting the engine before shifting into gear or else the FCW will not turn on. The dealer said there is no fix. I believe this is a software issue. This has been functioning this way since the vehicle was new.
Camping World, Freedom Roads LLC did not complete NHTSA Manufacturer Recall Number 66B NHTSA Recall Number 24V-436 prior to delivery on or about August 8th, 2024 and did not inform me of this recall. Unacceptable! I am scheduled to complete recall at a Ram dealership on 12/10/2024.
From purchase the UConnect system has faulted out and have effected items like Navigation, etc but wasn't a real problem. On 7/18 I had my dealer perform recall # 66B/NHTSA 24V-436 On 7/20 the UConnect system began faulting out but this time it started Disabling the Automatic Emergency Braking while driving, Disabled the parking brake when it was set, Indicated that various lights were not working when they were. The dealership worked on it extensively with the Corp service system reflashing the system, etc and it worked Ok for about 100 miles when the above problems have all started again. I have reviewed several social media sites and notice the UConeect system is very problematic. I am concerned most about the UConnect system turning off what I consider very important safety functions and while this seems to be a long ongoing problem RAM CORP SERVICE doesn't seem to be able to correct it The local Dealership has been great to work with but can only do what CORP tells them to do

I finally found a place to report issues with my 2023 Ram ProMaster 3500. I have experienced different issues with this vehicle. The turn indicator failure first started around 8000 miles. The door ajar light for the sliding door started around 35000 miles. What I believe is the traction control, has been an ongoing issue unsure of when it started, but is the most common issue. 1) Multiple times, the left turn signal randomly fails, the bulb indicator light turns on. The front left and mirror signal don't work. While the rear one does. Then out of nowhere, it starts to work again. Has happened multiple times. 2) multiple times right side sliding door sensor fails. Can be up to 2 hours after driving, the door ajar symbol comes on. Making the user interface unusable. Stop the van, open and close the door, it clears it. Then shortly later, the door ajar indicator comes on. And with the door ajar light illuminated, it does not allow the doors to be locked. 3) the traction control (i believe), on one side or the other, will grab, making a grinding noise, slow the vehicle down slightly and pull it slightly in that direction. It happens on any surface type, dry, wet, or icy. And happens at highway speeds, 50-80 mph. I've notice it happen a quite a few times when passing another vehicle. Which ever side the vehicle is on that you are passing, that side will grind (activate)
