AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2007-2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles equipped with non-desiccated, passenger frontal air bag inflators containing phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant that were used as interim remedy parts for previous Takata recalls. These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflators, free of charge. The recall began February 11, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-866-522-9559. GM's number for this recall is N192290990.

The affected vehicles are equipped with a passenger side frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture upon its deployment.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began on July 27, 2015. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's numbers for this recall are 15438 and 15817.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500/3500 trucks manufactured January 18, 2007, to June 22, 2011, and GMC Sierra HD 2500/3500 trucks manufactured January 22, 2007, to June 21, 2011, and equipped with an auxiliary battery. Owners may unknowingly draw too much current through the vehicle's trailer harness resulting in the melting of fusible link for the auxiliary battery.
Remedy: GM will notify owners and dealers will replace the jumper harness with one that includes a 40 amp inline fuse, and provide the owner with supplemental Owner Manual information, free of charge. The recall began on August 29, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 14260.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated that while researching the history of the vehicle it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 166,521 and while researching online, it was discovered that the mileage was 207,759.
High speed collision with a cement truck destroyed most of the front portion of the vehicle. Neither passenger nor driver airbag deployed and seat belts did not lock up, injuring the driver. STEERING COLUMN SEPERATED AT THE TILT COLUMN PIVOT JOINT. TOTAL STEERING LOST. THE COLLAPSIBLE COLUMN SECTION ALLOWED THE PIVOT JOINT RETENTION TO DISSENGAGE ALSO SLIDE TOWARD ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE ARE TWO SET SCREWS, THAT WORK LOOSE (GOOGLE SEARCH OF ISSUE RESULTED IN LOTS OF DOCUMENTED CASES), AND SET SCREWS FELL OUT AND TOTAL STEERING COLUMN SHAFT SEPERATED AT PIVOT JOINT. NO INJURY, BUT ONLY DUE TO REMOTE COUNTY ROAD AT 7AM WITH NO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE WENT INTO DITCH VS ONCOMING TRAFFIC ONLY DUE TO CROWN OF RURAL COUNTY ROAD. VEHICLE SPEED WAS MINIMAL AS I JUST EXITED A TURN IN INTERSECTION. VEHICLE TOWED. WILL UPLOAD PICS LATER OR PLEASE REQUEST THEM ALSO. I AM SAVING ALL PARTS AS THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION, THESE DASHBOARD PARTS WOULD BECOME THE EQUIVALENT OF SHARDS OF GLASS FLYING AROUND IN THE CAB OF MY PICK UP. I WAS INSPECTING MY TRUCK FOR PROPER FLUID LEVELS AND WEAR WHEN I FOUND MY TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK TUBE LAYING ON MY ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK TUBE. I WENT TO GRAB IT TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND IT WAS JUST FLOPPING IN THE WIND. I PULLED MY TRUCK ONTO RAMPS, SLID UNDERNEATH AND INSPECTED THE ISSUE. I FOUND THE TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK/FLUID FILLER TUBE COMPLETELY FRACTURED IN HALF. THE DIPSTICK IS THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT IN PLACE. I SEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THIS FAILURE, BUT THAT THE RECALL HAD NOT BEEN APPLIED TO MY VIN. MY TRUCK=2008GMC SIERRA 2500HD WITH A GAS 6.0L ENGINE AND A 6L90 TRANSMISSION. MY MILEAGE=71,800. THE TUBE IS COMPLETELY SEVERED JUST ABOVE THE BRACKET THAT MOUNTS THE TUBE TO THE BELL HOUSING. MIND YOU - THIS IS A 4 WHEEL DRIVE PICK UP THAT I USE AS A 4 WHEEL DRIVE. SOUND SILLY, I KNOW, BUT THE RECALLS WERE AGAINST 2010-2013 ESCALADES AND SUCH. AN ESCALADE!?? I SPOKE WITH A LADY AT GM AND SHE CREATED A CASE FOR ME. SHE SAID TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP, HAVE THEM INSPECT IT AND THEN GET WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE CONTACT THERE. MY DASH PANEL HAS CRACKED. THIS PANEL GOES AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND COULD POSE A SAFETY HAZARD. THERE ARE NEARLY 5000 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE DASH PANELS ON FACEBOOK PAGE 07-13 GMC CRACKED DASHES SAFETY HAZARD FOR ALL TRUCKS.

TAKATA RECALL. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN ON THE RECALL LIST FOR OVER 1 YEAR NOW, STILL WITH NO REMEDY TO FIX IT. THE IDEA THAT MY PASSENGER AIR BAG CAN DEPLOY AND INJURE OR KILL MY WIFE OR MY CHILD MAKES ME VERY UNEASY. GMC WILL NOT OFFER A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS FIXED AND I NEED TO DRIVE IT FOR WORK. I LIMIT MY VACATIONS WITH MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF INJURY. NOT ONLY THAT BUT I CAN'T EVEN SALE MY VEHICLE HAVING THIS ISSUE, AND IT HURTS MY TRADE IN VALUE BECAUSE THERE IS NO REMEDY AND NO OTHER DEALER CAN RESALE WITH AN OPEN RECALL. I FEEL THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE DONE TO ENFORCE THE AUTOMAKERS TO HELP THE CONSUMERS AND CUSTOMERS OUT.
