BACK OVER PREVENTION Mar 16, 2026
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while in Reverse(R), the rearview camera mainly displayed an image of the license plate located in the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure started occurring some time after purchasing the vehicle brand new. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it remained for 4-5 weeks for repairs. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted, causing the vehicle to hit the rear passenger's side door of another parked and unoccupied vehicle. The contact stated that, prior to the crash, the rearview camera failed to make a beeping sound to alert that there was a vehicle in the near proximity of the vehicle. The contact's vehicle sustained rear bumper damage and unknown panel damage. The other vehicle sustained dents. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injury sustained. No police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

This car I bought a year ago from the dealership has stalled out numerous times. It has been to the dealership multiple times to be fixed. The battery has been replaced along with the fuel pump twice. The car has been to the dealership several times. They can not seem to figure out the problem. I am not sure what to do. But this is becoming a hazard on the road.

Vehicle started shuddering. Year is a 2022 so less than 5 years old. My son and I both drive this vehicle and the car starts to slow and jerk making it unsafe to drive. Taken vehicle to many shops who could not find the problem. Finally took it to Ford and they confirmed the torque converter is failing. I bought this vehicle because I thought it would be a safe family vehicle and boy was I wrong. Please make this right. I've done my research and I've seen many complaints about this same exact problem. Noone in this current economy has 11,000 to put into a vehicle I still have 6 years to pay on. This vehicle is new and should not need a new transmission.

Airbag System Failure Warning - Dealer is unable to diagnose The ford pass app alerted me that my airbag system was not functioning and instructed me to not drive the vehicle and to have it towed to a dealership. This too me seemed like a very serious alert. I immediately called the dealer and brought the vehicle in to have it looked at. During the call the dealership technician confirmed for me that the problem had persisted for a couple of days prior and was concerned that I just found out about it. Naturally the day I took it in the light went off. The technician looked at it for over a day and ultimately said they could not determine the cause. They then advised me to continue driving the vehicle and only return when the warning appears again. I called Ford to get their take on this problem and to ask for help, and I got the same response, that there is nothing that the dealer can do unless the light is actively on. This contradicts fords own safety warning and leaves me driving a vehicle that may have a non-functional airbag system. I am reporting this because it appears to be a potential safety defect, and the dealership was unable to repair it. I am not sure if this is a defect of the airbag system itself, or the system that monitors the safety of the vehicle. If there is a couple days of specific warnings that ford and the dealer has access too, I wouldn't think that they would need the light to be actively on for diagnosis. I have attached a screenshot the warning in the ford pass app, however it will no longer let me view details that I had before, just the occurrence and warning name.
BACK OVER PREVENTION Feb 6, 2026
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing at an undisclosed speed, the rearview camera intermittently became dark, distorted, or the image was frozen. No warning lights were illuminated. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that a software update was needed. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V315000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part for the repair was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received a second notification letter stating that the software update was an over-the-air (OTA) update, and no visit to the dealer was required, and that the recall repair had been performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, West Alabama Ford of Fayette (2024 Temple Ave N, Fayette, AL 35555); where it was determined that the vehicle needed the software update. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving across an intersection, a work vehicle ran across the intersection. As a result, the contact's vehicle T-boned the work vehicle, which came to a stop. The front driver's side air bag and the front passenger side air bag did not deploy. It was unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the impact crushed the metal on the driver's side, which caused the driver's side door not to open. The contact exited the vehicle from the front passenger-side door. The police were called to the scene. The vehicle was towed to a collision center. The contact sustained injuries to the right shoulder and right hip. The contact was taken to the hospital by a family member later in the day. The doctor diagnosed that the contact had sustained a slap tear on the right shoulder and a slight tear on the right hip. The contact underwent surgery on the right shoulder. The vehicle was towed to a collision center, where it was repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving in the snow, the vehicle slid on black ice and hit a tree, where it came to a stop. The front driver's side air bag and the front passenger side air bag did not deploy. The passenger-side mirror was damaged, and the vehicle had scratches on the passenger side. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. It was unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. The insurance company was contacted. The insurance company was waiting for the report from the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Pulled into hospital parking lot and had a pwertrain failure on the ford app. Edge Titium 2022 with approx 91000 miles, mostly highway miles, towed to dealership, extended warranty only will cover certain amount of transmission which now leaves me either getting a used with only a 6 month guarantee or paying for a new one. Prior to this there had been no shifting or other indicators that the transmission had any problems.

I was driving down the road in Sioux Falls and went to go on a green light and pushed on accelerator and car hesitated. It finally decided to go and started jerking and going thru all of the gears at once. It did this several times on the way home. There was a lot of traffic out also. The next day I was driving from my house in Harrisburg and it started jerking and deacceralting on its own (with traffic behind me). I got to the stop sign and kept smelling smoke. I shut the car off and restarted it and could only drive 10 miles per hour to get to the shop. This has happened 5 different times. I got to the shop and they said it was my transmission. They stated they hooked it up to computer and threw codes out. 8 days later I took to another shop and they stated the same thing (this shop took my car for test drive and understood what I was talking about). I called Ford about it and they stated they could not help me and hung up. It is a safety issue. I could of been crossing railroad tracks when this happened and a train could of been coming down the tracks.

As we were driving the vehicle it started to hesitate then would begin slipping as it shifted to the point it had to be babied as you drove it. Less than 10k miles out of warranty and only three years old. All of the previous awd edge models had a recall by Ford to cover what I learned was a failing torque converter, requiring a full transmission rebuild. This model has yet to be covered even though it is having the exact same problems as previous versions.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report an ongoing and concerning issue with my 2022 Ford Edge. My vehicle has begun hesitating when pressing the accelerator and jerking between 20 mph and 40 mph. Some days the issue is worse than others, but it has progressively made the vehicle feel unreliable and unsafe to drive. At times, it feels as though the vehicle may break down while in motion. After researching this issue, I have found that many other Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same symptoms, with the torque converter frequently identified as the cause. This appears to be a widespread and recurring problem rather than an isolated incident. Additionally, the vehicle will coast between approximately 2,000 and 5,000$. This behavior is not normal and raises serious concerns regarding drivability, safety, and long-term damage to the transmission. Given how common this issue appears to be among Ford Edge vehicles, I strongly believe this warrants further investigation and the establishment of a recall. Stuttering between 10-35mph no warning lights went to dealer to get and fuel injection flushed but was told i couldnt do so bc i needed to have transmission looked at and then was advised that i would have to leave it at the dealership for 2weeks with no loaner before anyone could look at it which meant that i had to pay for a rental while waiting just to see if that was the issue the. To be told it will be about 8000 to replace the transmission

Torque converter coming apart inside housing. Metal making its way into the transmission at about 87,000 miles. Dealership inspection was concluded and transmission replacement was recommended. No lights or messages due to problem. This issue results in shuddering and poor shifting along with potential transmission failure while driving, making it extremely unsafe.

A month ago I rear ended somebody. I take full responsibility for this. However the crash alert did not go off. Yesterday I was driving down the road in the dark at about 6:00 AM, by myself, nobody else around and the crash alert went off for about two minutes saying that I was about ready to get into a wreck. Ford did look at it two weeks ago, they had one of their techs walk around it make sure that the crash alert would go off and apparently it did.

I wanted to report that on this vehicle Ford has a very unsafe and hazardous horn. I just purchased the car and had to use the horn for the first time yesterday to avoid a car hitting me. I avoided an accident but the other driver said they did not hear my horn. The horn sound is not loud at all and i thought it was defective. I had others listen to it and they all were amazed at how ineffective the volume was. I did some research on line and found i am not the only one that complained about this to Ford. Apparently Ford changed the horn assembly in sometime after 2017 on the Ford Edge to save money. Apparently there is no federal standard for horn decibel levels on automobiles. I travel with small grandchildren in this car and feel this makes it unsafe, as many, many others do after researching this. It is a disaster just waiting to happen. Can you confirm that there are no regulations for automobile horns other than that they work? I just wanted to bring this up as it is dangerous to drove a vehicle like this. Interested in knowing if you have received any other complaints. Most of the research i have done shows owners actually having the horn assembly removed and replaced with one that actually works correctly at their own expense. Seems Ford should be held accountable for this defect. Seems the opted for profit over safety here. Thanks.
