DESIGN FLAW & SAFETY RISK: Toyota critically mismatched the standard battery to the vehicle's electrical charging profile; an AGM battery should be specified from the factory. Engine programming drops alternator voltage during cruising, deeply discharging the battery, and forces high-voltage surges
... (15V+) into it during deceleration. Because standard batteries cannot handle these rapid recharge loads during deceleration, the internal thermal load routinely overheats and boils the liquid electrolyte, even when brand new. This continuous boiling vents volatile hydrogen gas and discharges corrosive battery acid inside the engine bay. This structural flaw culminated in an immediate safety hazard when the battery physically exploded under the hood, creating a severe risk of engine compartment fire, chemical acid burns, and complete vehicle electrical blackout in active traffic. COLLATERAL DAMAGE & HISTORY: The chronic discharge and boiling of highly corrosive battery electrolyte severely damaged and corroded surrounding critical vehicle components. The acid completely corroded the transmission mount, the metal battery holder restraint, and the body paint. Furthermore, the corrosive boil-over burned off and destroyed several electrical connectors, plastic shrouds, plumbing hoses, and sections of the primary engine wiring cable harness. Since owning this 2020 Toyota Corolla, the vehicle has suffered systematic electrical degradation, requiring a full battery replacement at least once every single year. The exploded battery could not be safely retained due to its hazardous, ruptured state. WARNINGS & INSPECTIONS: No dashboard warning lamps, battery alerts, or diagnostic codes were triggered on the display prior to the physical battery failure. The rupture and electrical blackout occurred instantaneously. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives as no crash resulted directly from the blast.Read more

Part is the coolant bypass valve. Toyota has been taken to court but dealership claims now that I’m over 100k miles I can’t do it. There was also a second part about 10 years but I wasn’t clear on the details of the outcome. Toyota has acknowledged this issue in court but failed to do so at

They have known about this but failed to repair or notify me of it. I would have immediately brought my car in at 97k if. I had known. This puts not only me but my 3 kids and entire family at risk every time i drive. This is known to the dealership and they been taken to court for failures to notify customers of this known defect. FAILED COMPONENT & AVAILABILITY: The manual transmission Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) failed internally. Due to caustic hydraulic fluid contamination and severe system pressure loss, I had to replace the internal CSC unit, the clutch disc, the pressure plate, the flywheel, the master clutch cylin
... der, and the hydraulic clutch lines. The failed components have been retained and are available for inspection upon request. SAFETY RISK: The plastic housing of the OEM slave cylinder cracked internally, spraying caustic hydraulic brake fluid inside the transmission bell housing and completely coating the flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch friction disc. This caused an immediate, sudden loss of hydraulic pressure, forcing the clutch pedal to drop and stick flat to the floorboard. This put my safety and the safety of others at extreme risk, as it suddenly prevented me from disengaging the clutch, shifting gears, or safely dropping the vehicle into neutral while driving in active traffic.CONFIRMATION & REPAIR: A certified Toyota dealership diagnosed the issue and issued an unaffordable repair estimate of $4,800 to fix this recurring manufacturer defect. Because of this extreme cost, I was forced to drop the transmission and perform the entire rebuild myself. The total out-of-pocket cost just for replacement parts was $3,200. The vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives as no crash resulted. WARNINGS & MILEAGE SYMPTOMS: There were no prior dashboard warning lamps, error messages, or clear physical indicators before either failure occurred. The loss of clutch pedal pressure happened instantaneously. This vehicle has suffered this catastrophic internal failure twice: the original factory-installed unit (part number 31400-19025) failed prematurely at 59,000 miles. The updated replacement part (superseded part number 31400-19027), which suffers from the exact same defective plastic composition, failed again just 40,000 miles later.Read more

While driving at highway speeds on the freeway in my 2021 Cadillac CT4-V, the vehicle experienced a sudden, catastrophic loss of propulsion. Without warning, the transmission dropped out of gear as if it were in neutral. I completely lost the ability to accelerate, creating an immediate, life-threat
... ening hazard as I was left stranded and blocking high-speed freeway traffic. Only after the mechanical failure occurred did the check engine light illuminate. The vehicle was towed to Cadillac Dealership. The service department confirmed that the vehicle suffered from the known defective transmission control valve covered under GM Special Coverage Bulletin N242480631 and tied to NHTSA Campaign 25V148. The dealership ordered the replacement valve body but aborted the repair after confirming that the control valve's failure caused massive internal fluid leaks and total mechanical destruction of the transmission assembly. The manufacturer is currently denying coverage for the complete transmission replacement, despite the fact that the total failure was consequential damage directly caused by the federally recalled, component defect.Read more

The powertrain transmission system, specifically the torque converter, failed on my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado at approximately 66,000 miles. The vehicle was taken to and inspected by a GM-authorized dealership, Pellegrino Chevrolet, on January 7, at which time the dealership diagnosed a failed torque
... converter and formally recommended a full transmission replacement due to the risk that metal debris from the failed converter may have contaminated the transmission; the vehicle and affected components are available for inspection upon request. This failure presents a safety risk due to the potential for loss of power, unpredictable drivability, delayed or failed acceleration, or sudden transmission malfunction, and this vehicle is my family’s primary transportation and is used to transport three child car seats. The problem has been confirmed by the GM-authorized dealership and additionally reviewed by four independent mechanics, all of whom advised that replacing only the torque converter would be insufficient. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership and documented under General Motors Case #87048318; it has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives at this time. Prior to diagnosis, the vehicle exhibited abnormal transmission behavior and drivability symptoms consistent with torque converter failure, which prompted inspection and worsened leading up to the dealer diagnosis.Read more

While driving with my family on a busy freeway at approximately 70 mph, our vehicle suddenly displayed a loud, urgent warning: “Hybrid System Warning – Safely Stop and Do Not Drive!” At the same moment, the car lost the ability to accelerate without any prior signs of trouble. We were extremel
... y fortunate to have enough momentum to coast to the shoulder and shut the vehicle off, unsure of how serious the issue might be. Being stranded without warning on a high‑speed highway put my entire family in a dangerous situation. After a few minutes, we restarted the car to see if we could at least get it off the freeway. The warning had disappeared, and the vehicle drove normally, allowing us to take back roads home. The lack of any prior symptoms makes this even more concerning. Losing acceleration at highway speeds with no warning is a major safety hazard. We took the vehicle to a dealership immediately, but because the warning light was no longer active, they were unable to diagnose the problem. A few days later, the same warning appeared again—this time only a couple minutes from home. I turned around immediately for safety, parked the car, and once again the warning disappeared as soon as the vehicle was shut off. At this point, we have a car sitting in our driveway that we do not feel safe driving. The dealership cannot identify or repair the issue unless the warning is active, & even then, they cannot guarantee that a diagnostic code will appear. After researching this problem online, it’s clear that many other Hyundai owners are experiencing the same issue, often spending thousands of dollars without a definitive fix. Despite how common & dangerous this problem appears to be, there are no recalls & no consistent guidance from dealerships. This situation is unacceptable from a safety standpoint. A vehicle that can suddenly lose power at highway speeds—with no warning and no reliable way to diagnose the cause—poses a serious risk to EVERYONE and needs to be investigatedRead more

I first noticed that my vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of motor oil, with the oil change light coming on every 1,500–2,000 miles. I routinely had to add oil between changes to keep it running. On May 30th, while driving on surface roads, I heard clanking noises from the engine. When ac
... celerating, the vehicle clanked heavily, and then went into “limp mode,” limiting acceleration to about 10 MPH before struggling up to 30 MPH. I added oil, but a local shop diagnosed it with code P1326 (knock sensor) and advised that Hyundai engines are prone to failure around 100,000 miles and that I should take it to the dealer for warranty evaluation. I contacted Graham Hyundai, who told me they could not see the vehicle until July 1st and that I would be responsible for towing. I dropped the vehicle off on July 1st, but it was not inspected until July 8th or 9th. I was later told Hyundai was being consulted. Around July 15th–16th, the dealership informed me that I would need $1,500 in repairs. They stated the engine had passed the Hyundai Bearing Clearance Test (a $350 charge) and that Hyundai required me to pay for an ECU “KSD logic” upgrade ($175). They also stated the engine valve cover was leaking, requiring new spark plugs, for a total of $532. Additional charges included an oil change and other shop fees and taxes. After repairs, I was instructed to drive 1,000 miles and then return for an oil consumption test. After approximately 1,000 miles and four weeks, the dipstick check showed the vehicle had consumed nearly all of its oil. I was then told I now need a combustion chamber cleaning, costing approximately $850 and requiring three days in the shop. Given the oil consumption issues, repeated engine warnings, limp mode incident, and the significant costs already incurred for testing and required upgrades, I am requesting that my engine be replaced under warranty and that all fees I have already paid be reimbursed. Rather than keep paying for work.Read more

The primary component that has malfunctioned is the engine's valve stem seals, which are available for inspection upon request. This defect has led to excessive oil consumption, which has now escalated to a critical safety issue. The vehicle is emitting a huge amount of thick smoke from the exhaust
... with a strong smell of burnt oil, and multiple engine warning lights are illuminated. I have stopped driving the vehicle, as the excessive smoke creates a significant visibility hazard for myself and others, and the underlying issue presents a risk of sudden engine failure. The problem has not been formally confirmed by a dealer, as the General Manager at BMW of Rockville dismissed the repair as not "worth fixing." It is important to note that BMW has been aware of this N63 engine issue and created a Customer Care Package (CCP) to address it, yet I was never notified, despite regular service at authorized centers. The vehicle has not been inspected for this specific safety concern by the manufacturer or others. The initial symptom was excessive oil consumption, which has been ongoing for some time and has now worsened to the current safety-critical state.Read more
