AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 1998 Acura 2.2CL, 1998-1999 Acura 2.3CL, 1998-1999 Acura 3.0CL, 2001 Acura 3.2CL and Acura MDX, 1998-2000 Honda Accord Coupe, Accord Sedan, Civic Sedan, Odyssey and Acura 3.5RL, 1999-2000 Acura 3.2TL, 1996-2000 Civic Coupe, 1997-2000 CR-V, 1997-1998 EV Plus, and 1998-1999 Isuzu Oasis vehicles. These vehicles were equipped with Non-Azide Driver air bag Inflators (NADI) and do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, causing the inflators to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the driver frontal air bag inflator, and replace it if necessary, with an inflator of a different design, free of charge. The recall began October 1, 2020. Owners may contact American Honda's Customer Support & Campaign Center at 1-888-234-2138 or Isuzu customer service at 1-800-255-6727.

SABERSPORT IS RECALLING 16,270 COMBINATION CORNER AND BUMPER LAMP ASSEMBLIES OF VARIOUS PART NUMBERS SOLD FOR USE AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE LAMPS DO NOT CONTAIN THE REQUIRED AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS.

The 1998 Honda Odyssey recall for ignition switch I don't believe included all VIN numbers affected. My van is having the exact issue for what is stated in the recall, yet my VIN does not show as a recall. When the switch is turned to the run position, the dash lights may or may not illuminate. Once the van is started, there is a 50/50 chance that the stops running because of the switch. I believe this is an issue that needs to be looked into. Has not been confirmed yet because we are awaiting service on the airbag recall to put the van into service.

ON 4/01/2015 THE LOWER BALL JOINT ON THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL OF MY 1998 HONDA ODYSSEY BROKE, CAUSING THAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO COLLAPSE TO THE GROUND. THE HALF-AXLE SEPARATED AND FELL OUT AND THE CAR ENDED UP WITH THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER RESTING ON THE TIRE WHICH HAD FLIPPED OUT AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE VEHICLE. WE WERE JUST TOLD THAT OUR 1998 HONDA ODYSSEY NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $4,000. THIS WOULD BE THE 3RD TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT IN THIS CAR SINCE WE'VE OWNED IT (WE'RE ORIGINAL OWNERS). THE HONDA DEALER HAS TAKEN GREAT CARE OF MY CAR UNTIL THIS EVENT. I WAS IN A PARKING LOT, BACKED UP AND BARELY HIT A POLE WITH THE REAR BUMPER. THEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE, AND THE CAR TOOK OFF AT FULL SPEED OUT OF CONTROL, BURNING RUBBER, EVEN THOUGH I WAS HITTING THE BRAKES, PUMPING THEM, TRYING TO STOP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON MY 1998 HONDA ODYSSEY CAME ON WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE REGISTERED A PROBLEM CODE OF P0740-TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR HONDAS WHICH SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE NHTSA. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE ENGINE WOULD RANDOMLY SHUT OFF IN LOCAL STREETS OR WHILE DRIVING LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS 25 MPH. THE CONTACT HAS NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. IN ONE INSTANCE, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE, PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ROLLED BACKWARDS WITH HER DAUGHTER INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT JUMPED BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES. SHE LATER REALIZED THAT EVEN WHEN THE GEAR WAS PLACED IN REVERSE, THE KEY WAS STILL ABLE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. SHE FOUND A RECALL ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 90,150.

OWNER CONTACTS THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER, WHICH REPRESENTS THAT RECALL ITEM REMEDY WAS COMPLETED ON A GIVEN DATE. OWNER ASKS FOR INFORMATION ON WHO REPORTED THAT THE RECALL ITEM WAS REMEDIED. VEHICLE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. OWNER DISAGREES THAT REMEDY ON THE RECALL ITEM WAS COMPLETED, THEN CHECKS WITH THE LOCAL DEALER (THE ONLY ONE IN TOWN). DEALER DOES NOT HAVE ANY RECORD OF RECALL ITEM BEING COMPLETED, THOUGH HAVE CONFIRMED THROUGH DIAGNOSTICS THAT THE PROBLEM IS BECAUSE OF THE RECALLED ITEM. NO EVIDENCE OF CENTER-PUNCH FOUND AT ENGINE COMPARTMENT VIN TO INDICATE THAT RECALLED ITEM WAS REMEDIED. WORK MUST BE DONE, AND DEALER WILL CHARGE OWNER FOR WORK (PARTS AND LABOR). JUST ANOTHER OWNER WISHING RECALL # 03V423000 APPLIED TO THE 1998 HONDA ODYSSEY IN ADDITION TO THE 1998 HONDA ACCORD. SINCE AT LEAST A YEAR BEFORE THAT RECALL WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION OF THE ODYSSEY WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT IN PARK. ON OCCASION THE CAR ROLLED FORWARD OR BACK UNTIL IT BUMPED SOMETHING OR ROLLED PART WAY INTO THE STREET. WHEN THE HONDA RECALL CAME OUT THE DEALER HOWDY HONDA IN AUSTIN SAID THAT IT DID NOT APPLY TO THE ODYSSEY, AND HONDA DEALERSHIPS DID NOT HAVE AN INTERNAL SERVICE BULLETIN TO FIX ODYSSEYS IF OWNERS COMPLAINED.*AK
THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE HAD A NHTSA RECALL PERFORMED AT THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER CONCERNING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ELECTRICAL PORTION OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. AK NOW THE VEHICLE CAN BE TURNED OFF AND THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED WHILE IN ANY GEAR. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT I MAY TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, EXIT THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS STILL IN DRIVE AND IT WILL ROLL AWAY AND RUN OVER SOMEONE. WHILE DRIVING, THE ELECTRICAL DRIVER SEAT WOULD INADVERTENTLY MOVE BACK AND FORTH. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. I TOOK IT TO PALM HARBOR HONDA, AND THEY CHARGED ME ABOUT $100 JUST TO LOOK AT IT, AFTER WHICH THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $800 TO FIX IT. SEE THAT THERE HAS BEEN A SAFETY RECALL FOR 1999 ODYSSEY MINIVANS, AND WONDER IF THE IGNITION SWITCH I HAVE MAY POSE A SAFETY RISK AS WELL. IN ANY CASE, I AM VERY DISAPOINTED IN THIS WHOLE SITUATION. THIS CAR IS MY 3RD HONDA, AND WILL LIKELY BE MY LAST.*AK
VISOR ON DRIVER SIDE BROKE WHILE DRIVER WAS ATTEMPTING TO PUT IT DOWN TO BLOCK THE SUN. WHEN IT BROKE, IT DANGLED IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER AND BLOCKED THE DRIVER'S VISION OF THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY, THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO GRAB THE VISOR AND HOLD IT OUT OF THE WAY AND REGAIN SIGHT OF THE ROAD BEFORE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE SUPPORTING METAL ARM SEPARATED AT THE POINT WHERE THE WIRE FOR THE MIRROR LIGHT EXITS THE ARM. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN AND THE CASTING. *NLM
