SSCP03 IS THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) NUMBER I FOUND FOR A "SAFETY RECALL" .TODAY I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AT WHICH I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR, TO INVESTIGATE THIS. THE DEALERSHIP REPRESENTATIVE PRESENTED ME WITH A PAGE OF A "WARRANTY DOFU/SSC REPORT" ITEMIZING A "P03 1991 CAMRY/PREVIA RADIO 08/24/94 31027" FOR MY VEHICLE. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS SHOWED THAT THE RADIO [TOYOTA 86120-03042...CE-2233TL1B SERIAL NO. R7002084] WAS FACTORY REPAIRED ON 07/13/94 AND INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE ON 08/29/94, SATISFYING THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SAFETY RECALL. I AM CONCERNED THAT: THIS RADIO CEASED TO FUNCTION SUDDENLY; THE SSCP03 IDENTIFICATION APPEARS ON IT; AND, THOSE DATES PRECEED THE ISSUE DATE "SEP 94" OF THE SAFETY RECALL IDENTIFIED BY ALLDATA.COM. *AK
THE SPARE TIRE WHICH WAS IN THE TRUNK BLEW UP AND POPPED OPEN THE TRUNK AND CAUSED DAMAGE ON THE LEFT REAR SIDE OF THE CAR. ALSO THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED 2 TIRE BLOW OUTS, WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. *AK *CB *JB
ONE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HINGE HAS BROKEN AWAY FROM FRAME, AND SECOND HINGE IS CRACKED AT FRAME ATTACHMENT POINT. PREVIOUS TO BREAKING AWAY, THIS DOOR HINGE HAS ALWAYS OPENED STIFFLY. DOOR IS NOW ONLY HELD ON BY CRACKED FRINGE AND LATCH MECHANISM AND RATTLES DURING MOVEMENT. *NLM

CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE DRIVER SEAT THE AUTOMATIC SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT BACK TO THE OPEN POSITION AND SEAT BELT WILL STAY IN THE LOCK POSITION MAKING IT HARD FOR THE CONSUMER TO GET OUT IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. DEALER NOTIFIED TS

CONSUMER STATES CAR RADIO SHORT CIRCUITED AND THE POWER ANTENNA IS STUCK IN THE UP POSITION. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR WHICH ONLY BEGAN TO SUBSIDE A DAY AFTER MECHANIC REMOVED THE CAR RADIO FUSE. THERE IS A RADIO SAFETY RECALL - SSCP03, HOWEVER, CONSUMER'S VIN IS NOT ON RECALL LIST AND THE RECALL TIME FRAME HAS PASSED, THEREFORE CONSUMER IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A FREE REPAIR OR EXCHANGE. *TT

WHILE DRIVING, ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED, CONSUMER NOTICED SMOKE FROM THE HOOD AND PULLED OVER, THE WHOLE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO FIRE, POSSIBLE CAUSE DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE, OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT #10-90-596. *SLC

PURCHASED NEW BFGOODRICH TIRES AROUND MAY? OF 2001 AT A MERCHANTS SITE NOW CLOSED. AROUND JULY ONE TIRE HAD SIDEWALL CRACKS. MERCHANTS DETERMINED IT TO BE DEFECTIVE. REPLACED ONE TIRE AT A $10 COST FOR HAZARD WARRANTY. ABOUT NOV. 2001 REMAINING 3 TIRES EXHIBITED SAME SIDEWALL CRACKS. CAR HAD ABOUT 10K MILES ON IT AND ROCKVILLE MERCHANTS DETERMINED TIRES TO BE DEFECTIVE AND RETURNED TO DEALER FOR CREDIT. I WAS CHARGED ABOUT $90 OR 1/3 THE PRICE OF THE TIRES. NOW, MARCH 2002 THE 3 REPLACED TIRES AGAIN HAVE THE SAME TYPE SIDEWALL CRACKS AND SOME SWIRL PATTERNS. MERCHANTS DETERMINED TO BE DEFECTIVE AND REPORTED TO MICHELIN WHO OWNS GOODRICH. I REFUSE TO HAVE GOODRICH PUT ON THE CAR BUT AM BEING ASKED TO PAY ABOUT $20 FOR EACH OF 4 TIRES TO BE MICHELIN TO BE PUT ON THE CAR. MY FAMILY DR. ALSO SAID HE HAD 3 SETS OF SUCH TIRES REPLACED (FREE OF CHARGE) THEN JUST BOUGHT DIF. ONES HIMSELF. IT APPEARS THEY ARE NOT ACKNOWLEDGING A KNOWN DEFECT AND CONSUMERS ARE BEING PUT IN DANGER AND RIPPED OFF. I DO NOT PLAN TO KEEP THIS CAR MORE THAN A YEAR AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE DEFECTIVE TIRES REPLACED!!! OTHER DOT #'S END IN 2602 AND 3501. THOSE ARE THE RECENT ONES. WHILE DRIVING 55-60MPH WHEELS LOCKED ON VEHICLE. COULD NOT TURN WHEELS. TOOK TO DEALER AND DEALER INDICATED THE TRANSMISSION FROZE AND LOCKED WHEELS. NLM
SHOULDER BELT LOCKED AND TIGHTENED AT NECK, CAUSING STRANGULATION FEELING AND PROBLEM BREATHING, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION DIDN'T HELP, AFTER DRIVER DOOR OPENED, BELT RELEASED.
