STEERING Apr 1, 2026
I own a 2023 Ram 1500 Limited 4x4 with approximately 53,000 miles. The truck has had no issues for the first 40,000 miles and then developed a noise and vibration coming from the front end that is present at all speeds. I took it to Jerry Ulm Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Tampa, FL. They kept my truck for 14 days and replaced the axle, stub shaft, wheel hub and bearing assembly. The truck was returned to me with the exact same noise and vibration — the repair did not fix the problem. After getting my truck back, the service advisor communicated to me in writing that the technician said there is no permanent fix for this issue and that he sees it all the time on Ram trucks. This is a written admission from an authorized Ram dealership technician that this is a known, widespread defect with no solution. This vehicle is still within the 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. Stellantis/Ram has been notified via formal complaint. I am filing this report because if the dealership's own technician is saying this is common across Ram trucks and there is no permanent fix, this needs to be on record with NHTSA. Other Ram 1500 owners may be experiencing the same issue and not know it is a known defect. Dealer: Jerry Ulm Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Tampa, FL Service contact: William Usewick

Many vehicles functions are controlled by the Uconnect screen, climate controls, stereo, navigation and hands free phone operation. The 12” screen for the Uconnect system has a know issue where it goes blank, screen dances around and renders the hands free function useless along with the other critical functions. If the screen goes out while driving it can cause confusion with the driver.
PARKING BRAKE Mar 24, 2026
The contact owns a 2023 Ram 1500. The contact stated that on two occasions while driving approximately 60 MPH, the traction control warning light illuminated and the message "Parking Brake Deactivated" was displayed. The contact stated that during the first failure, the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, turned off, restarted the vehicle, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the residence and then to a dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. During the second occasion, while driving up a bridge, the vehicle lost automotive power and the vehicle decelerated to 28 MPH. The vehicle then coasted down the bridge, and it was pulled over to the side of the road, turned off, and restarted. The check engine warning light became illuminated. The vehicle was parked for several hours during a class, the vehicle was restarted and reset independently, and the warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

2023 Ram 1500 V6 eTorque, 40,000 miles. Two stalling incidents have occurred under different conditions. Incident 1: While towing approximately 4,000 lbs, the 12V battery began slowly draining while the vehicle was in motion. Battery voltage gradually dropped below 10 volts until the engine shut off completely while driving. No warning lights appeared prior to shutdown. Jump start restored normal operation. Stored fault codes retrieved afterward showed 16 simultaneous voltage fault codes across every major module including ECU, ABS, EPS, DDM, PDM, CSWM, IFC, PTS and SCCM — all logging system voltage below allowable range simultaneously, consistent with a complete charging system failure. PCM also logged a U0401 code indicating implausible data received, consistent with the PCM losing stable voltage. Incident 2: After approximately 45 minutes of low-speed driving (5-10 mph) in a Walmart parking lot, the vehicle stalled without warning on a busy road in [XXX] . My wife and two young children were in car seats in the vehicle at the time. The engine cut off completely in live moving traffic with no warning. I was forced to exit the vehicle and jump start it in the middle of traffic while my children remained strapped in their car seats, creating a serious and dangerous situation. Jump start restored normal operation. On the subsequent highway drive home, battery voltage was observed declining from 14V to 13.2V over the course of the drive, suggesting the charging system is unable to maintain adequate voltage output. This is a known recurring issue with the Ram eTorque mild hybrid system. NHTSA has an open preliminary investigation into eTorque stalling on 2022 Ram 1500 models. The MGU, BPCM and PCM are all covered under the 8-year/80,000-mile Federal Emissions Warranty verified via VIN. PCM software updates have never been performed on this vehicle. Vehicle is being brought to an authorized Ram dealership for diagnosis and warranty repair. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Mar 18, 2026
The major, widely reported, 1.4-million-vehicle Ram recall regarding malfunctioning tailgates that may open while driving primarily affects 2019–2022 model year Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks, not the 2023 model year. The issue stems from misaligned striker plates that can cause the tailgate to unlatch.

The dash board showed the (A)auto start stop amd the (P) parking brake after hitting a puddle in rain. I brought the vehicle into the dealership for service on 4/18/2025 . They replaced the right rear caliper and EPB actuator and it temporarily fixed it. The lights still came on but would go off in rainy conditions. They came back on and didn’t go off so I brought it back to the dealership in again on 3/2/2026. First said they would fix the same part now after having my truck for 2 weeks claim it’s not the parking brake actuator but the main wiring harness and refuse to fix it under warranty of their work. I am now told by them they have to replace the entire wiring harness on my expense. Called customer support at ram truck and still haven’t heard back if they would do anything

I own a Ram 1500 Big Horn that has repeatedly shut off while driving and entered limp mode, causing sudden loss of power and engine shaking. This has occurred both while driving and while stopped at intersections, creating a serious safety hazard in traffic. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership more than nine times for the same issue, but they initially claimed they could not diagnose the problem because no codes were present. The vehicle recently broke down again and the dealership retrieved diagnostic codes P2172, C121C00, B151A100, and U100300, indicating airflow and CAN bus communication issues. Ram ordered an alternator to fix the truck, but the first part received was defective and had to be reordered, further delaying repairs. Despite being a loyal customer since 2019, I have repeatedly received substandard service and temporary fixes from Ram, and the truck remains unsafe and unreliable. The problem is unresolved, and I am concerned this defect could cause the vehicle to stall in traffic and potentially lead to an accident.

* Sudden shutdown while driving * Dash failure * “Vehicle not in park” message * RF hub failure * Recall references While driving at highway speeds and without warning the entire dashboard shut off and the vehicle lost power. The message “Vehicle Not in Park” appeared. My son was forced to coast off the highway to safety. Once the vehicle stopped, it shifted itself into park. The truck restarted briefly but failed again shortly after. Luckily this time he was able to drift into a nearby gas station. At that point the vehicle had no dashboard lights, no ignition response, and no electrical power to the drivetrain, though interior lights still worked. Vehicle would not start and needed to be towed to the dealership where is sat for 12 days before they replaced a water damaged RF hub. There was no cracks or leaks located but there was water damage. Weather conditions: Sunny and dry, temperatures in the mid-50s. This failure created a dangerous situation. While driving at highway speed. This incident placed my sons life and the lives of others on the road in danger. Since this frightening event, we have conducted extensive research and discovered that this appears to be a well-documented issue affecting Dodge Ram trucks, specifically involving moisture entering the cab and damaging the RF hub, which can cause electrical failures and loss of drive power. The dash shutting off and truck losing power while driving — is a major safety issue. Situations like this are known to fall under sudden loss of power / drive power investigations by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). I' am requesting a formal investigation into the moisture intrusion issue affecting Ram trucks, consideration for a recall or technical service bulletin addressing this defect and invoice reimbursement.

The Auto Start-Stop system is not working properly. Three times it has failed to restart when sitting a traffic light. I believe this is safety issue because I could be rear ended if a vehicle is not aware of my vehicle not starting to move with traffic. The Auto Start-Stop can only be manually stopped by turning it off in the vehicle ever time to start to use it. This system needs fixed or there could be an accident on the road.

The uconnect 4 system that controls everything on the vehicle will randomly reboot while being driven, disabling safety systems like reverse cameras during the reboot, and leaving the UI for uconnect incomplete after restart is completed so vehicle settings are not available until vehicle has been turned off for over 10 minutes. I believe that this is due to bugged wifi drivers since it seems to reboot when it tries to connect to android auto. I have video of a reboot showing my truck in reverse for exponentially longer than the required two seconds for the camera to come on but it is too large to upload here.

2023-2025 dodge rams and promasters 20,000miles to 70,000 miles my truck has 69,432 miles dash boards are getting so hot the radios are going into overheat mode the head units are hot to the touch the cigerette 12volt outlets are melting anything in them. My heater core erupted in my truck last week and the coolant vaporized into a thick smoke that smothered me in my cabin that i had to pull over and air our my vehicle i believe this is due to the dash boards getting really hot i took it to savage dodge on 61 in reading pa 19605 they diagnosed it as a heater core and heater core hoses. I called Stellantis manufacturing to ask them to review the manufacturing defect the customer service line wants nothing to do with this even after i stressed to them the dangers of inhaling vaporized coolant and the fire hazard their dash boards present. They keep denying the claim to fix this and I am trying to stop someone from dying before they decide to correct the problem. I am a 10 year master mechanic and 8 year master diagnostician in the auto industry this needs to be addressed my friends 25 dodge promaster with 21,xxx miles on it had the heater core erupt on his too but his is inder warranty. But they want no parts in achknowledging this massive issue.

My 2023 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting both Uconnect 5 (12” screen) and earlier Uconnect 4 units. These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. The primary defect is screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. My vehicle experiences the same issues, including a frozen screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, etc. Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures.

While driving at roadway speeds, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of the instrument cluster and infotainment display, immediately followed by an engine shutdown. Steering and braking assistance were reduced during the event, requiring immediate driver intervention to safely maneuver the vehicle. The failure occurred without warning. No prior warning messages or indicators were visible before the loss of power and instrumentation. After the vehicle coasted and was restarted, all systems appeared to return to normal operation. This condition has occurred more than once and presents a serious safety risk, especially at highway speeds, due to loss of engine power and driver information. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership and remained there for over three weeks for inspection. The manufacturer was consulted, but the condition could not be duplicated during testing. No repairs were performed, and the vehicle is being released back to the owner with instructions to drive it until the condition occurs again. The issue has not been resolved, and the vehicle remains susceptible to an unexpected shutdown while driving, which could result in a crash or loss of vehicle control.
