FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Mar 20, 2026
I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety defect involving a high-pressure fuel system failure that occurred shortly after recall service was performed by an authorized dealership. The failure created a significant risk of engine compartment fire and potential loss of vehicle control. On March 25, 2025, my vehicle underwent recall service at Hall Ram Dealership for replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump. This repair required removal and reinstallation of the high-pressure fuel supply lines. These lines are torque-to-yield, single-use components that must be replaced once removed to ensure proper sealing under high operating pressures. On April 7, 2025, while driving at highway speed, the high-pressure fuel line connected to the pump suddenly ruptured. This resulted in an uncontrolled release of fuel into the engine compartment, creating an immediate safety hazard. Atomized fuel was exposed to high-temperature engine components, significantly increasing the risk of ignition and fire. The failure also posed a risk of sudden engine power loss. The vehicle required emergency towing. A review of the March 25 service invoice shows no documentation that the high-pressure fuel lines were replaced. This strongly suggests the original single-use lines were reused, contrary to OEM standards and accepted repair procedures. Reuse of these components can lead to sealing failure, fatigue, and rupture under pressure. This incident raises concerns regarding compliance with federal safety regulations, including 49 U.S.C. Chapter 301 and FMVSS No. 301 governing fuel system integrity. A fuel line rupture under normal operating conditions indicates a critical safety defect and possible improper execution of a recall remedy. I request that NHTSA investigate whether authorized repair facilities are properly following required procedures during recall repairs, including replacement of single-use fuel system components.

Traveling at 60MPH on a highway in the middle lane when my truck lost complete power steering. It felt as if I had zero control over my truck at a high speed. I managed to slow down and made it onto the shoulder without crashing. Had my truck towed to Dodge Chrysler ram dealership. Before dropping it off I saw there were at least 10 recalls for my truck that I mentioned to technician. They plugged my truck into their scanner and the technician got in my truck and drove it right into the shop bay. I’m unsure how he was able to maneuver the truck after plugging it in. After diagnosing the problems with my truck they called to tell me that none of the recalls affected my vehicle and they weren’t repairing anything. My gas tank also detached from my vehicle while driving and I knew that was covered. Over a week arguing and proving they are responsible to repair it. They repaired the gas tank and refused to look into the rest of recalls. I could’ve died and hurt many others driving by the loss of power steering traveling at that speed. Truck was fine then randomly loses full control. There are open recalls for my exact truck with this exact issue. The dealership refused to acknowledge any of it.

The ABS module failed in June of 2025. Ram originally told me the part was on back order 6-8 months. In December they said there were 100 ABS modules on order for our area. In January 2026 they informed the mechanic that is doing the work that there is still parts on back order and it could be another 1-2 months. Today 2/25/26 the mechanic was told there are 265 modules on back order and it can be another 2-3 months. The truck now has a throttle body control issue that is stemming from the ABS issue. The truck is not operable at the moment because of this back order. I have been waiting for 7 months for this part and there are no alternatives on the market. If Ram does not get a part available for me I will either have to find a used one that hopefully isn't going to fail or be out of a $50,000 truck. This is a problem that many people have had according to all of the RAM forums. RAM needs to find a solution because the consumer already paid for the vehicle so parts should be available.

The Parts departments in dealerships will typically say that the manufacturer is "looking" for a new contract parts supplier and say that a certain date is upcoming, but it always gets pushed further into the future. I have been without ABS for a long time for this reason. Since I have moved around, I have been unable to stick with a certain parts department for an extended period of time, but I have had this part on order with the current dealership near me for over 5 months, with no status update other than its on order. This seems like a large safety issue to me and I would like the regulator to do something about this.

The Recall Center will not answer the phone and reports errors when I call. The warranty center will not deal with this as it's a recall issue. The cost to repair all the parts is $8,745.75 without any coverage or recall support. The recall remedy was to flash the computer which would be a minimal cost but the dealer cannot do this unless my vehicle is added to the recall. I received the part today to find filter and housing cap. the filter resembles previous filters used but does not have any MOPAR stamp on it says made in China but box is labeled MOPAR and says made in Korea. the date on box is 12/15/2023. Is an aftermarket filter being packaged as OEM filter for a recall?

Good Moring. I have a 2015 and seems to be an on going problem with these years not. The ABS Module fails, turning off the ABS, trailer brakes, cruise control and lights on the dash. The other problem is you can not find any new modulars. the ABS block corrodes causing this part to fail. If you find a used one you can not program it to the vehicle. With this being a safety hazard and Dodge not having the part available I believe this should be a recall. The truck has a blue book of about 20k but with this part failing not only can I not do emissions due to the lights on the dash but it deems the vehicle worthless. This includes the front airbags and any associated crash sensors. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk: The failure of the airbag system significantly increased the risk of serious injury. Due to the airbags not deploying during a high-impact collision with a fixed object (tree), the driver sustained a serious head injury. Proper airbag deployment could have reduced or prevented the severity of the injury. Confirmation or reproduction of the problem: At this time, the issue has not yet been reproduced or formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Investigation is pending. Vehicle or component inspection: The accident has been documented by law enforcement and insurance representatives. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but is available for inspection. Insurance evaluation is in progress. Warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms: There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms indicating an airbag or restraint system malfunction prior to the accident. No airbag warning indicators were illuminated before the crash. If applicable: UNKNOWN whether any fault codes were present prior to the accident. Description of incident: The crash occurred at night in heavy fog conditions. While traveling around a curve, the driver encountered an oncoming vehicle in the opposite lane and took evasive action to avoid a collision. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. I am writing to request urgent assistance regarding a serious safety and service issue with my 2015 Dodge Ram, which has only 45,000 original miles. I recently took the vehicle to an authorized Dodge dealership after multiple dashboard alerts appeared, including: ABS Light On, Brake Light On, “Service Trailer Light,” “Service Antilock Brake System”, Service Electronic Braking”, “Service Trailer Brake System” The dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty ABS Module. I was informed that the part would cost approximately $1,400, plus the cost of ordering the part, and that the part may take up to four (4) years or more to arrive—if it ever becomes available at all. I contacted multiple Dodge dealerships and received the same response regarding the extreme delay and unavailability of the ABS Module. I was also told that the vehicle is unsafe to drive in its current condition. This is especially concerning, as this is my only vehicle, and I cannot use it due to the safety risks. Despite this, Dodge customer service informed me that no assistance can be provided unless I first pay for and order the part, even though the part may not arrive for years. Additionally, the dealership is unwilling to buy back the vehicle at a reasonable price due to the unresolved ABS issue, leaving me without a safe, drivable vehicle and without support or alternatives. I have confirmed that there is no recall listed for this issue, yet the ABS Module is a critical safety component, and the lack of part availability for years is unacceptable for a loyal customer who has maintained the vehicle properly and driven it minimally. I am respectfully requesting that Dodge Corporate provide A clear explanation for the extreme parts delay, A prompt solution—such as expedited part sourcing, coverage or assistance with repairs, or a reasonable buyback/exchange option, Guidance on how Dodge intends to support customers facing major safety issues caused by unavailable parts.

I was taking my family out to dinner when all of a sudden I kept hearing a rattle and something smacking on the bottom of my truck. I had people flashing their lights at me, so I pulled over into the nearest gas station and got underneath. To my surprise, the fuel tank was halfway hanging with the front strap. I looked where it goes and it's all corroded on the frame. I ratchet strapped it up in the meantime and turned back around and carefully drove home. I'm not sure how to go about my safety being at risk, I just know that a fuel tank falling/getting damaged because the OEM bracket strap on the frame corroding out is not something to take ever so lightly. Who knows what could of happened. The problem I guess is a big issue with 4th Gen RAM's all over the internet, so bad to the point that it went from a 3 year extended warranty until it was changed to a 12 year unlimited mile fix for a salt state such as where I'm located (MI). I have not had it inspected, due to if I have to drive on it, it's either going to get fixed or is already fixed. There were also no lights or indications besides hearing the noise and getting underneath for an inspection.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? ABS Control Module (Part Number 68228991AD). Failure of this part prevents the ABS system, trailer brake, cruise control, and traction control from functioning properly. Part is currently installed into vehicle and is not available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car no longer has ABS, traction control, trailer brake, or cruise control. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. This is a know issue with 2014-2016 Ram 1500s. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. Following lights are on dashboard: Brake, Traction Control, ABS. OBD Code C2200 for internal module failure. Lights were first intermittent in the Summer of 2024. Came on permanently in early 2025. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION There is a design flaw in the ABS Module for these vehicles that causes them to malfunction. This issue affects thousands of Ram vehicles. The chip in the module that is defective is no longer being produced, and Stellantis is unable to provide replacement ABS modules at the rate they are needed. Thousands of these trucks are driving around with no ABS, T/C, etc or are sitting in shops waiting for a new module, as they will not pass state safety inspections. Stellantis will not acknowledge there is a design flaw with these modules, even though they have been listed as being under "Engineering Review" for multiple years. Due to the critical vehicle systems that are impacted, these ABS Modules must be recalled.
