Vehicle paint is bubbling and pealing. This is the Snow White Pearl paint. Dealer's response is that it is not their problem and the manufacturer states that they will not make any repairs or compensation. There are also numerous rust spots all over the car as shown in attached photos.

The car began making a weird noise and stalling. Then close to home if shut off, I was able to restart it and drove a short distance to home. Realized couldn't drive it like that and contacted City Kia Greater Orlando dealer. Towed the car to the indicated destination and after about four days (it w
... as the July 4th weekend) they sent me a diagnostic of engine failure due to internal combustion and want to charge me $7500. Offered another alternative for about $1500 but acknowledged that would likely not solve the issue. I declined and informed them that I was told about the engine recall, that my vehicle year and model (2020 Kia Soul) was included in the lawsuit that caused the recall, and that I was never told by the dealer or Kia about the engine recall and about a particular software upgrade that was supposed to alert me about the possibility of engine failure due to a Kia manufacturing defect. They informed me that my vehicle was out of warranty and that my VIN number was not in a particular list of vehicles. I don't understand how is it possible, since I purchased that vehicle in the same dealer with about 3000 miles at the time of purchase and the vehicle has been properly maintained in the same dealer, as the maintenance records show, including a good maintenance badge from CarFox. I believe this is extremely unfair, how I am supposed to accept that I have a useless vehicle when I did everything right and my car obviously should've been included in that engine recall. How is it that I received letters from Kia about other recalls but not about that engine recall? Previous to the engine stalling and noise incident the oil warming light never turned red. I believe that my vehicle should be included in the list of vehicles approved for the engine recall, based on this statement and the facts.Read more

I own a 2020 Kia Soul that received Recall SC209. Kia performed the recall remedy and considered the recall complete. Before the engine failed, the vehicle had a documented history of excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was previously diagnosed by an independent third-party mechanic shop for exc
... essive oil consumption, and I repeatedly had to add significant amounts of engine oil between oil changes to keep the engine operating. Despite this known condition, the excessive oil consumption continued after the recall was completed. Eventually, the engine suffered a connecting rod bearing failure and seized. The Kia dealership has denied warranty or recall coverage solely because Recall SC209 had already been completed. Kia Consumer Affairs also denied assistance and stated that the engine failure is not covered because the recall was previously performed. My concern is that the symptoms leading up to the engine failure—including excessive oil consumption followed by connecting rod bearing failure—are consistent with the defect addressed by Recall SC209. In my opinion, the recall remedy did not correct the underlying defect on my vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the SC209 recall remedy is effective for vehicles that continue to experience excessive oil consumption and subsequently suffer catastrophic engine failure after the recall has been completed. I have maintenance records, documentation from the independent mechanic shop showing excessive oil consumption, proof that Recall SC209 was completed, and documentation of the engine failure and Kia's denial of coverage.Read more

A service campaign/safety recall was issued, necessitating an engine replacement. Bramlett Kia in [XXX], performed this service in late May/early June of 2025. It took them an entire six weeks to do the work. Upon completion of the job, my husband attempted to drive it off their lot, only for the tr
... ansmission to go out immediately. Kia also replaced the transmission. After this was done, my husband drove the car back to our house in [XXX]. It sat in our garage from June until two weeks ago. My brother has been driving the car between [XXX], and [XXX]. Two nights ago, as he was leaving work, the vehicle started, ran for 30 seconds and made a rumbling sound before breaking down. He restarted the car and started driving it, but the car quickly overheated. As an emergency measure, he drove it to a service shop in [XXX], where it was discovered that the AC compressor and serpentine belt had come loose. This was because the bolts securing the engine were overtightened during the engine replacement in [XXX], and two of them had broken off while the vehicle was in motion, thus allowing the compressor and serpentine belt to loosen. We had the car towed to Cavenaugh Kia in [XXX]. They will not perform the work and say that the vehicle should go back to the dealership in [XXX]. The Alabama dealership says it is not their problem. Kia Customer Affairs also says that because the work was performed just over a year ago, it is no longer covered under warranty. Furthermore, they will not pay to have it towed. I called Gossett Kia in [XXX], where the car was purchased, and they are not sure they will be able to do the work either. I feel so stuck and without recourse in this situation. We are stuck with a [XXX]old car that is undrivable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

While driving on the interstate at approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle suffered a sudden and complete loss of forward motive power. The engine revved, but the vehicle completely ceased forward acceleration and could not maintain highway speeds. This created an immediate safety hazard, forcing me to na
... vigate across active lanes of highway traffic without power to reach the shoulder, narrowly avoiding a rear-end collision. Once stopped, the vehicle completely refused to engage any forward gears (Drive). However, the transmission will still engage and move backward in Reverse. This is the second time this vehicle has experienced a total transmission failure in 6 years, despite having previously had the transmission replaced at an authorized dealership under Kia Service Campaign SC199. The replacement Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) component has suffered an identical, catastrophic mechanical failure to the first unit. The manufacturer’s previous campaign remedy failed to permanently resolve this severe highway safety defect.Read more

There are hundreds of on-line complaints regarding 2020 Kia Soul with paint flaking and peeling off. This is especially true for cars painted white. This is happen to the Soul I purchased a few years ago. I can no longer use a car wash. Please see pictures. The exposed areas will lead to rust
... and corrosion. If the metal supporting the engine, cabin, or bumpers flakes off or has holes, the vehicle loses its ability to protect occupants during a collision. A rusty car can be highly dangerous if the corrosion has spread to critical structural or mechanical components. Rust on surface areas will eventually let water leak through to a vehicle's frame, suspension, or braking system which will significantly compromise safety and increases the risk of catastrophic failure. One of the attached photo's will show paint that came off the car with painters tape which I used on the back of a credit card to show the relative size of another area where paint has come off!!!Read more

A major engineering and material design failure occurred involving internal fluid containment seals, resulting in a severe electrical safety hazard. Pressurized engine coolant breached an internal component seal and began migrating internally directly through the vehicle's engine wiring harness via
... capillary/siphoning action. The fluid used the sealed wiring loom as a literal pipeline, traveling inside the wire insulation to bypass all outer weather seals and completely flood the Engine Control Module (ECM) pin connectors. The vehicle's dealership service department documented extensive galvanic corrosion and shorting inside the primary vehicle computer pins due to this blue-green fluid pooling. Because the dealership has not yet completed the full repair, the exact originating component source of the leak (e.g., the engine coolant temperature sensor or the coolant expansion tank housing barrier) remains unconfirmed. However, the physical mechanism of the coolant migration through the sealed harness into the primary electrical architecture is fully verified. This defect presents a critical safety risk. The sudden flooding and short-circuiting of the Engine Control Module can cause an immediate and unexpected loss of engine propulsion, power steering assist, and electrical control while driving at highway speeds, creating an imminent risk of a high-speed collision.Read more

On April 29, 2026, my 2024 Mazda CX-90 Turbo S Premium Plus experienced a steering malfunction while I was entering a right turn. The vehicle had Mazda steering recall 6524A / NHTSA Campaign 24V-022 marked closed/completed before this crash. I was traveling on a familiar road and attempted a normal
... right turn that I make regularly. As I attempted to turn, with no warning lamps, warning messages, or prior warning immediately before the incident, the steering wheel suddenly required abnormal effort, felt stuck, and would not turn normally. I was in complete shock from the sudden steering issue and abnormal resistance. The vehicle then struck the curb, left the roadway, and traveled down an embankment/grade of approximately 15 feet into a residential yard. The crash involved significant driver-side/front-left damage. The front driver-side wheel/tire separated and was found near the vehicle. The driver-side airbags deployed. Scene evidence included curb/edge impact damage, debris, and a deep ground-level rut/indentation below the roadway. This incident placed me and others at serious risk because the vehicle left the roadway and entered a residential property. The vehicle and failed components are available for inspection upon request. To my knowledge, the only prior inspection or repair related to the steering system was performed by the Mazda dealership in December 2025, when recall 6524A was marked closed/completed along with other recalls. The vehicle has not yet been independently inspected for this crash-related steering concern. Before the crash, the vehicle had multiple issues and spent significant time at the dealership for recall and non-recall repairs. One ongoing issue was a brief grinding/rubbing noise when accelerating from low speeds, which existed before the dealer work and continued afterward. Mazda/dealer indicated this low-speed grinding/rubbing noise was a known reported issue with no fix at that time.Read more

I purchased a new Volvo XC60 Ultra on 4/17/2026. During the drive home from the dealership, I noticed the right rear passenger window haziness impairing my visibility when checking for blind spots. Initially, I thought the window needs to be cleaned, however all cleaning attempts did not improve the
... glass transparency; the haziness persisted. I notified the Volvo dealership the next day and I was asked to bring the car back for detailing. When I arrived, the sales manager brought 2 similar cars for comparison and concluded that this is how all the cars look like and it's just my problem, as he never had another customer complaining about it. He recommended that I take this brand new car to a non-Volvo glass tinting shop to remove the tint and "retint it the way I like it". This is unacceptable for a brand new car. My subsequent research revealed that the hazy rear passenger windows are a widespread issue with some Volvo models since at least 2023, related to what Volvo claims to be "normal" appearance of the tinted laminated sound proof glass. The dealerships and Volvo claim that this is a normal feature of the laminated glass, however the hazy glass is very bothersome while driving the car (when checking for blind spots), decreases the visibility through the rear side windows and it is a safety hazard. The owners usually notice this issue after the car is purchased, and this issue is not being disclosed to potential buyers during the sales process. Despite multiple claims by car owners, Volvo refuses to issue a recall and to fix this ongoing safety issue. I do not believe that driving around with hazy car windows meets the safety or industry standards. Please investigate this laminated glass defect in the rear passenger windows of many Volvo cars since 2023 (higher trims, like Plus and Ultra trims in XC60 and XC90 SUVs) and persuade Volvo to fix the issue and recall the defective glass! This is not a cosmetic issue, it is a visibility problem and a safety hazard!Read more

I am submitting this complaint to report a safety defect involving a 2018 Audi Q5 (Premium Plus, Technology Package). The vehicle’s MMI infotainment/navigation system intermittently shuts down or reboots during operation. When this occurs while the vehicle is in in reverse, the rearview camera dis
... play immediately goes blank and remains unavailable until the system completes its reboot cycle. This failure has occurred during active reversing maneuvers, creating a significant safety concern. An incident already occurred that resulted in an impact to another object during backing and the camera display/MMI going blank loss just prior to stopping. The rearview camera is a required safety system under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111. When the system powers off unexpectedly, the driver loses critical rear visibility information at precisely the moment it is most needed. The condition appears to be software-related, as the infotainment system restarts on its own. However, the temporary loss of the camera display increases the risk of collision with pedestrians, other vehicles, or stationary objects. I understand that recalls have been issued for similar rearview camera display failures in later model-year Audi Q5 vehicles. The symptoms I am experiencing are materially similar and may indicate a broader defect pattern affecting earlier production years. I have attempted to resolve the issue with Audi and their technicians and service management. The conclusion was they could not find any error messages or mechanical issues. They would not diagnose deeper or complete any further trouble shooting. The previous owner also attempted to resolve the safety defect under warranty and received similar attention with no solution. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter for potential investigation to determine whether the 2018 Audi Q5 should be included in any safety-related corrective action. Of note, the "CarPlay" use is not the cause.Read more

My 2022 F‑150 has a burnt-out Quad LED side strip on the passenger side headlight. These are daytime running lights, a safety feature. I understand there is no TSB or recall, but many owners have the same issue. I am filing to document a recurring safety defect.

As the owner of a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe, I am currently experiencing persistent issues with the instrument cluster going dark and a severely malfunctioning GM 6.2L L87 engine. In November of the previous year, I encountered a sudden and alarming loss of engine power while traveling on a multilane hi
... ghway at a speed of 70 mph. I successfully maneuvered the vehicle to a narrow shoulder, where I remained, accompanied by a Highway Patrol officer, for over three hours until a tow truck arrived. The GM certified dealership informed me that the engine was seized. The mechanics were unable to start or manually turn the engine. Upon removal of the engine’s oil pan, they found metal fragments in the oil. After having undergone an engine recall “fix” three months earlier, which included an inspection and oil service change to a more viscous 0W - 40, a new oil filter, and a new filler cap; in November, my engine failed and was replaced with a new 6.2L L87 engine. Initially, I was pleased with the repair, but I have since lost confidence that my car is safe after the new engine began exhibiting symptoms of a pending failure. The Tahoe hesitates on acceleration when merging with highway traffic, the engine dies when decelerating, the check engine light flashes at highway speeds, and the instrument cluster turns off at random. The vehicle that has been outfitted with a brand new engine is currently at the Chevrolet dealership; however, just like in August of 2025 during the Recall inspection, the mechanics there were unable to find any problems with their work or the new engine. They simply erased the stored P0300 engine diagnostics codes and ignored my evidence video, which showed the check engine light blinking at highway speeds. Despite the repair attempts, the issues have not been resolved, and the vehicle continues to pose a safety hazard.Read more

Dash Delamination: The leather dashboard is experiencing severe delamination and pulling away from the substrate, specifically in the area surrounding the passenger-side airbag. I believe this condition poses two significant safety risks: Airbag Interference: The detached and warped material may ob
... struct, delay, or alter the deployment path of the passenger-side airbag during a collision. Visibility and Distraction: This is a material defect, not wear and tear, and it poses a potential safety concern due to the reflection/glare on the windshield, as well as the distraction it causes while driving. Audi has acknowledged this "process weakness" and issued a Limited Warranty Extension (AWA-23-11) for 2019-2020 Q8 models. Despite this, my request for a safety-related repair was denied due to over 80K. The issue should be considered under mileage. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this defect to determine if it constitutes a safety non-compliance with FMVSS No. 208, as the structural integrity of the dashboard is vital for proper airbag performance. Thank you for your assistance in ensuring the safety of this vehicle.Read more

The spare tire hoist on Tacomas was over tighten at the factory, when I had a flat, used the kit tool to try to lower spare tire, the weak metal failed, unable to lower tire. Took vehicle to Stapp Toyota, they knew all about the problem, they loosen hoist, but would not cover the tool kit under wa

When I got home to try the hoist, I found they had taken my old damaged too kit and replaced it with another damaged. tool kit , not useable. I tired to speak to management at Stapp Toyota, no wants to talk about it. Think about all the Tacomas that have the same problems X 300 dollars = a lot of money. Purchased the vehicle 2nd hand January 29th 2025. Since then she has been in and out of multiple shops including Kia. Check engine light, loss of power on fwy, shifting/brake changes from a stop. From jerking, lunging, studder, taking off fast, not wanting to go at all. I was on these dips that I en
... counter almost daily and the collision warning went off. There wasnt anything in front of me. 2 weeks later I was cut off and had to swerve to avoid. Collision warning DID NOT go off. Driving on the fwy and the gas pedal pulled away from my foot as if it was accelerating. Kia has done a hard carbon, changed all fuel injectors. Last time they stated there was a factory defect with the rotors, changed all 4 rotors. Still she drives like this. Carmax, Kia and Daniels Tires NO ONE can tell me what is wrong! I have driven a 2024 same make and model and the car drove beautifully. Something is wrong with my particular vehicle. This is becoming frustrating. Please help. I drive often, I hike a lot. We are always on winding roads. I can't afford to sell it as I still owe. I love the vehicle, aside from this, like I'm just waiting for disaster to occur. Miles started at 14.5k and it's now 33k. Speeds have been anywhere from a complete stop to go and fwy speeds of 55 to 80.Read more
