ON CERTAIN MINI VANS, FREEZING CONDITIONS CAN CAUSE WATER ON THE THROTTLE CABLE TO FREEZE DURING NORMAL OPERATION. RESISTANCE TO MOVEMENT OF THE THROTTLE CABLE CAN OCCUR WHEN THE DRIVER LIFTS THEIR FOOT OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL MODIFY A PROTECTIVE SLEEVE AROUND THE THROTTLE CABLE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 15, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KIA AT 1-800-333-4542.

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THERE WAS A PROGRAMMING ERROR IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE LOGIC. THE PROGRAMMING ERROR COULD CAUSE REDUCED BRAKING FORCE AT SPEEDS BELOW 25 MPH, WHICH COULD RESULT IN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE CONTROL MODULE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 19, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT KIA AT 1-800-333-4542.

The contact owns a 2003 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the steering wheel became difficult to steer. The contact pulled over and left the vehicle. The contact returned 2 days later and drove the vehicle home. The contact stated that the check engine, brakes and air bag warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP. Dealer/manufacturer was contacted but no open recalls.*JB Consumer stated in addition to the prior issues has airbag lights on and brakes that lock up in the rain. Power steering was repaired but still having problems.

THE DEALER (MORITZ KIA HURST, 110 NE LOOP 820, HURST, TX 76053, (817) 591-7063) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THE DEALER INSPECT THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,800.

ON FEB. 25, 2018, WE PURCHASED A 2003 KIA SEDONA VAN FROM CITY START AUTO SALES IN PARADISE, CA. ALL FOUR TIRES AND THE SPARE WERE GOODYEAR INTEGRITY 215/70R15. THE TIRES READ MAX. PSI 44, BUT THE VAN SAID TO RUN AT 35 PSI. SO, ONCE A WEEK ON A COOL MORNING (BETWEEN 68-75 DEGREES OUTSIDE WITHOUT IT HAVE BEEN DRIVEN), MY WIFE OR I WOULD MAKE SURE THE TIRES WERE 34-35 PSI. DURING THIS 3 MONTH PERIOD, WE NOTICED NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TIRES. ON MAY 31, 2018, I WAS DRIVING FROM MY HOUSE IN MAGALIA, CA TO CHICO, CA. JUST AS I STARTED TO MERGE ONTO HWY 99 IN CHICO, I HEARD A THUMPING SOUND, THEN A BANG--TWICE. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND SAW 2 TIRES HAD COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT AND ONE WAS SERIOUSLY SHOWING THE METAL BELT. I HAD TO PAY TO GET A TOW TRUCK OUT AND IMMEDIATELY PURCHASE 4 NEW TIRES. WE'VE HAD A LITTLE WORK DONE ON THE REAR-LEFT FENDER CONTINUED TO HAVE WEIRD SOUNDS COMING FROM THE LEFT REAR WHERE THE WORST BLOW OUT HAPPENED. I JUST HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO TAKE IT IN YET. I KNOW IT WAS HOTTER IN CHICO THAN AT MY HOME, BUT IT WAS PROBABLY IN THE UPPER 80'S AT THAT TIME. I HAD NO WARNING AND IF IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS ON THE FREEWAY, IT WOULD'VE BEEN A DISASTER. THE TIRE COMPANY SHOWED US THE SPARE, SAID WE COULD USE IT AS ONE FOR A SHORT TIME, BUT EVEN IT IS SHOWING SOMETHING WRONG TO THE TIRE GUY.

EVENTUALLY, IT CAME TO A POINT WHEN IT WOULD RUN WHEN IT WANTED TO AND STALL WHEN IT WANTED TO. I TOOK IT TO A SERVICE STATION TO GET IT FIXED AND THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM TO FIX IT. THEY GAVE ME A COUPLE OF OPTIONS WHAT IT COULD BE, BUT TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE ONLY 75% SURE AND IT WAS GOING TO COST NEARLY $1000 TO FIX. WELL, I DIDN'T HAVE $1000 TO FIX SOME PARTS THAT THEY ARE ONLY 75% SURE ABOUT. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT IN TOWN AND IT CONTINUED TO STALL AND DRIVE AS IT PLEASED. WHILE DRIVING TO THE GAS STATION TO GET SOME GAS THE CAR DIED. AFTER A TWO MINUTE WAIT, WE RESTARTED THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEM.. THIS DID HAPPEN ONE OTHER TIME TWO WEEKS BEFORE AND IT SHUT OFF APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION. THERE WAS PLENTY OF FUEL IN THE SYSTEM. AGAIN, WAITED A MINUTE AND IT RESTARTED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTER AS A GIFT ON JANUARY 2014 FROM AL SERRA NORTH CHEVROLET USED CAR LOT. THEY OFFERED SAFETY INSPECTION ALONG WITH TEST DRIVE. I JUST TOOK IT BACK TO AL SERRA CHEVROLET FOR A 90 DAY COMPLIMENTARY SAFETY CHECK WITH ALL FLUIDS TOPPED OFF. THEY SAID ALL WAS FINE. I CAN BET THE ELECTRONICS WAS NOT EVEN CHECKED. I PURCHASED THE 2003 KIA SEDONA IN JUNE OF 2012 AND BY OCTOBER OF 2013 WE HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR TWICE IN LESS THEN A MONTH DUE TO IT LOSING POWER NOW THE CAR CONTINUES TO LOOSE POWER WHEN DRIVING AND WHILE IT IS STOPPED. I HAVE A 2003 KIA SEDONA AND MY 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WENT TO BUCKLE HER SEAT BELT, 2ND ROW DRIVERS SIDE, AND THE BUCKLE PART CAME OFF THE SEAT. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THAT THE BUCKLE WAS BROKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STEEL CABLE THAT HOLDS THE BUCKLE TO THE SEAT, THERE IS THE BUCKLE, CABLE, THEN BOLTS THAT HOLD THE BUCKLE TO THE BASE OF THE SEAT . I CONTACTED KIA AND WAS IMMEDIATELY TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE FIXED AT MY EXPENSE SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THERE WOULD BE NOTHING THEY COULD OR WOULD DO. I TOOK THE VAN TO MY DEALER AND THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT, THEY SPOKE TO THEIR DISTRICT MANAGER AND WERE TOLD THE SAME THING, MY EXPENSE. AFTER THE DEALER VISIT I INSPECTED THE REST OF THE BUCKLES ONLY TO FIND THAT THE OTHER 2ND ROW SEAT BELT IS WEARING THROUGH THE STEEL CABLE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER BELT IS BROKE THROUGH THE WIRES AND PART OF THE STEEL CABLE. KIA CALLED THIS MORNING TO INFORM ME THAT THEY HAD SPOKE WITH THE DISTRICT MANAGER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE FAILED DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. THE ONLY PEOPLE TO LOOK AT THE BUCKLE WERE THE SERVICE TECH'S AND THEY JUST LOOKED AT, THE MANAGER NEVER SAW THE BUCKLE. I HAVE AN ESTIMATE OF $401.64 FOR THE REPAIRS. I AM THE ONLY OWNER AND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW, IN NOVEMBER 2003, AFTER MY TWINS WERE 3 MONTHS OLD. I ALSO HAD A DAUGHTER AT THE TIME THAT WAS 6. THE ONLY PEOPLE TO SIT IN THOSE SEATS ARE CHILDREN, NOW 9 AND 15. THE CAR SEATS, WHEN NEEDED, WERE SECURED WITH THE TETHERS. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO? THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE CENTER WHERE THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE AND BOTH REAR TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TIRE TREAD EXHIBITED PREMATURE WEAR. THE SIMILAR FAILURE RECURRED ONE YEAR AND NINE MONTHS AFTER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE THREE TIRES. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE TIRE CENTER FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE INSPECTED AND TO DETERMINE WHICH TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN.

THE BACK RIGHT WHEEL CAME OFF OF OUR 2003 KIA SEDONA VAN. MY WIFE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AS SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE CAR HAD DIFFICULTY STOPPING. SHE MANAGED TO PULL THE VAN OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK CAME, IT PULLED THE VAN ABOUT A FOOT BEFORE THE ENTIRE RIGHT REAR WHEEL CAME OFF. HAD SHE BEEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY, SHE AND MY 3 CHILDREN MIGHT NOT HAVE SURVIVED THE INCIDENT. *TR

A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,500.

2003 KIA SEDONA RAN GREAT FOR THE 3 YEARS WE OWNED IT. WENT TO GO HOME FROM WORK AND IT MADE A LOUD NOISE AND THE MOTOR SHUT OFF. HAD A VERY HARD TIME PULLING OVER. NOW IT WONT TURN OVER AT ALL. NOT EVEN WITH A JUMP. CHECKED OILS ,WATER , BATTERY,CABLES AND EVERYTHING APPEARED GOOD. REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE WAS DONE . ALL FLUIDS WERE CHECKED ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING AND HUB CAP WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON EACH WHEEL ON THE VEHICLE AND A SECOND TIME ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. EACH REPAIR WAS PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CONTACT INQUIRED WITH THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V232000 (WHEELS) HOWEVER THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
