Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. At the time of the purchase, the mileage was approximately 182,000; it was later discovered that the correct mileage was 192,393.

I was driving in the rain 3 nights ago when my Chevy Silverado unexpectedly started shaking very bad , jerking while trying to brake, surging forward and total loss of acceleration. My dash lights were blinking and I was scared ,I had no idea what was going on. Since our family are loyal Jba customers( we own 2 silverados) and payed for the extended warranty and certified warranty I drove straight there and explained what happened. I was scared and crying, just diagnosed with Vulva Cancer stage lllC. Well the truck has been in the shop at jba diagnosed with bad Cam shift rod and lifts. They want $10,300.00 for repair. Even though we've been with them so long and had every maintenance done through them they weren't helpful in helping. Can someone help me? I need to be able to get to John's Hopkins for my cancer treatments. I've looked up this issue and it looks VERY common. Please, help me. Jba had me sign a document so the dates can be verified.

One of the factory solder joints on the air conditioning condenser failed causing the refrigerant to leak out of the air conditioning system rendering the air conditioning notn functional. This is a safety issue because without functioning air conditioning the windshield defogger is ineffective and visibility is drastically reduced. This is a known issue with 2017 through 2018 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. The problem has not been diagnosed by a dealer as I confirmed the diagnosis myself. There were no warning lights when the failure occurred. The only indication of the failure was the loss of effectiveness of the windshield defogger. This failure first occurred on 3/6/26 with 58,485 miles on the vehicle. I am the only one who has inspected the vehicle and it is available for third party inspection upon request.

Transmission failure at 120, 000 was replaced. Then factory thermostat went and then trickled down to the transmission. Got too hot and cooked the transmission. Come to find out it was also the radiator so that was replaced along with the thermostat and a second transmission. Put a transmission cooler on but still get very warm on the transaction fluid. Can't keep the temperature down in the summer while I'm towing. Trailer is well under the weight of the max capacity for the truck. And the latest problem I've had was to replace parts of the frame because that was rotted and beyond inspectable. Now I'm 14,000 in the negative with no reprieve. What is GM going to do for me as far as reimbursement? Cuz I still owe a little over $9,000 on the truck. This is ridiculous and I believe I'm going to another brand of truck when I can get out from underneath this one. I've been a Chevy owner my entire life and this is how you guys react to all your mistakes.

I am submitting a complaint regarding my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT. My truck currently has approximately 80,000 miles, and it has recently been diagnosed by a Chevrolet dealership as needing a complete transmission replacement. This vehicle has been lightly driven and very well maintained, and I rarely drive it. Because of this, I am extremely concerned and disappointed that such a major mechanical component has failed at such relatively low mileage. A transmission should reasonably last well beyond 80,000 miles under normal driving conditions. The dealership informed me that the entire transmission needs to be replaced, which is a very costly repair. Given the mileage and the way the vehicle has been used, I believe this may indicate a defect or premature failure rather than normal wear and tear. I am requesting that General Motors review this situation and consider goodwill assistance or coverage for the repair. I purchased this vehicle with the expectation that it would be reliable for many more miles, and this issue has significantly affected my confidence in the vehicle. I would appreciate a review of my case and any assistance GM can provide toward resolving this problem

While driving the vehicle the passenger side of my rear window shattered due to the rear defroster circuit overheating. I brought the vehicle into my local Chevrolet Cerified dealership to examine - they stated that my vin number is not included in the wide spread recall affecting over 150k vehicles having the same exact issue. I did call GM and she told me how the recall could only be specific to vehicles manufactured at certain locations, or many other factors could lead to my truck not being covered. My vehicle has the power sliding center window - I have researched and have seen a ton of vehicles with this same rear window have the exact same issue as I did. Even the same side breaks. I don't understand how mine is not covered under the recall so many others are. This currently has not been fixed - I am concerned that the same issue will occur even after getting it fixed. I feel it should be not only covered under the recall, but the faulty part causing the issue should be replaced just as it has been with all the covered vehicles. I am asking for this to be reviewed further and expanding the vehicles covered under this recall. It is a very unsafe problem that can cause fire and injury. I don't know how bad this could have been if someone were sitting in the back seat when this happened.

Driving down the road, and suddenly driver side of rear windshield exploded. GM has publicly acknowledged faulty circuit/glass in prior (expired) campaign in US (N192265660) and apparently there is a full recall in Canada for this problem, 2014-2018 Silverado 1500 with power sliding rear windshield. Chevrolet/GM told me they would not offer any assistance in repair. Repair cost is $948 at local glass shop. Will upload receipt after repair. Of course, this could have caused a major incident on the highway, from losing control of vehicle, heart attack, ,glass could go flying...However, my dog and I maintained our cool and there were no injuries. No one has inspected this. The glass will be replaced in two days. Dealership wasn't interested in helping. There were no warning lamps at all. I bought vehicle in 2021, after N192265660 "expired", and thusly had no knowledge of nor opportunity to fix the issue, as GM never notified me of it.

1. The vehicle's transmission does not operate consistently and safely. 2. At times, the transmission will not engage, and this has placed my family in very dangerous situations when changing lanes. 3. At red lights, at times, the transmission will not engage to drive. 4. When slowing in traffic at times , the transmission will not adjust to the slower speed, although the operator is applying the brakes. Then, without warning, the transmission will engage the higher speed, almost launching the vehicle forward suddenly, potentially into another vehicle or person, depending on the situation.

No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the engine sounded rough. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics, who diagnosed that the Active Fuel Management (AFM) and Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) were impacting the lifters, which impacted the camshaft, and scraped the cylinder walls, causing the engine to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, who confirmed the engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The vehicle was towed to the residence and no longer driven. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.

approximately, on or about [XXX], while driving our Chev Silverado, VIN as noted [XXX] ) started to experience transmission issues when i started from a stop sign and it started hesitating upon acceleration, jerking (gears not meshing correctly every time i had to stop). This included delayed engagement of gears, roughing shifting, slight slipping of gears, at times i could smell a burning like smell, (No leaks noticed on transmission anywhere and no warning lights coming on to warn about Transmission problems). On Jan 23rd, 2026, i took it to B&F automotive had mechanic check fluid level and do drive test with me. Fluid found to be good. I could hear a slight sound like high pitch sound at times, only last few seconds randomly). Mechanic suggested i put some fuel system cleaner in and 90 Octane to hopefully clear the system. dealer also suggested this just as a suggestion though they found no apparent issues during prior service oil change I just had dealer do a 27-point inspection with oil change and they did not notice issues. Since purchase of truck in 2019, from dealer, all services have been done only by dealer (Woodland Motors). we had bought extending service warranty with vehicle. According to dealer, it just expired Dec 2025. I currently have appointment to have dealer inspect it on Monday Jan 25th, 2026, at 1pm concerning our complaint of drive train issues. Current mileage is approx. 63, 060 miles. on advise of mechanic, i called dealer right away and set the above appoint. I explained to dealer rep that this will cause me financial hardship as i am [XXX]. i do maintain a maintenance file with all service records since purchase. Our 2017 High Country 1500 Chevy Silverado is garage-kept and has very low mileage (73k). But it has the Active Fuel Management (AFM) system, which just caused lifter failure, thus causing catastrophic engine damage. In research, we discovered newer models with the AFM have been recalled for this exact problem. Unfortunately, our model truck with the AFM has not been recalled, despite the fact that the problem and damage are the same.

At 54,900K miles my truck started to experience a tapping sound from the engine. I took it to a shop and was told that the Auto Fuel Management system can cause problems with the lifters. I tried to use my 200,000/10 year Warranty, but the warranty company refused because I went over 6 months on my oil change. The cost of repairs was over $6,900 and the push rods were bent, one lifter was broke off, the cam was damaged from the lifters and a piece on the timing chain was broke. Chevy knows there's a problem with the 5.3L Engine and refuses to fix it. No warning light ever came on. This problem first appeared in December of 2025 around 54,900 miles. I have since had the vehicle repaired and I kept all the parts. Chevy should recall this engine instead of letting their customers pay the repair costs for a flawed design caused by their AFM System. I was told to stop driving my vehicle because if I continued to drive it with the tapping sound it could cause the engine to blow up. I also have an After Market Warranty which would not cover the repair because Chevy issued a Technical Service Bulletin about the problem, Bulletin No.: 19-NA-219.

Bought the truck brand new, after 20,000 miles started vibrating. Took it to the dealership said it was the transmission shutters. They changed the fluid. At 50,000 miles did it again, they said GM came out with a thicker fluid, but it in there. Was fine for a while. At around 135,000 miles getting the vibration again. Also, at 140,000 miles cylinder 8 misfiring. Took it in and they tore it apart and said cylinder 4 and 8 lifter failure. Damage to cam and bent rods. Had to replace all lifters, cam and rods. Cost over $10,500, but had BG warranty used that additive every oil change so BG covered $4,000. I went by the oil life indicator on the truck to determine when I needed to change it, but apparently for engine for life you have to change it more frequently at 6,000 miles, so they wouldn’t cover that part.

While driving on Highway 35 in Austin, Texas, my vehicle's transmission unexpectedly failed, which placed myself and my passengers in a precarious situation. The vehicle became inoperable on the side of the highway, necessitating that my passengers and I manually push it while traffic was actively flowing. This mechanical issue occurred without any prior indication. Through my subsequent research, I have observed that this particular problem appears to be a recurring concern with this model of vehicle.
