I WENT TO HAVE AN OIL CHANGE AND WHEN THE GARAGE WENT TO LIFT THE TRUCK THE FRAME BUCKLED. THERE WAS SO MUCH RUST DAMAGE THAT THE FRAME WAS SOFT IN NUMEROUS PLACES. THE 1999 SILVERADO Z71 1500 TRUCK IS AN LT WITH ONLY 104,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN GARAGED SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW. IT LOOKS AND RUNS GREAT! THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED OUT 10 YEARS AGO AND I REPLACED WITH STAINLESS STEEL LINES.

THERE IS NO REASON A 18 YR OLD TRUCK WITH A MINT CONDITION BODY AND ONLY DRIVEN APPROX 17500 KM PER YEAR SHOULD BREAK THE WAY IT DID. THIS PERFECTLY GOOD STEP SIDE TRUCK IS NOW USELESS AND COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

WHEN I TEST DROVE THE TRUCK, I NOTICED IT NEEDED NEW A EXHAUST, AND SHOCKS. THE FOG LIGHTS WERE BROKEN, AND THE TURN SIGNAL LENSES WERE EXTREMELY CLOUDY. THIS IS NORMAL ON A OLDER VEHICLE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SETTING IN THE GARAGE, SINCE I DROVE IT HOME. THE GENTLEMAN TOLD ME THAT ALL THE RECEIPTS ARE IN THE GLOVE BOX, FROM WORK THAT WAS DONE ON THE TRUCK. I WENT THROUGH THE RECEIPTS, AND MOST OF THEM WERE FROM OIL CHANGES. SINCE I DON'T KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE TRUCK, IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO DO A TUNE-UP, AND CHANGE ALL THE FILTERS AND FLUIDS. I SPENT OVER A $1,000 NOT INCLUDING LABOR, ON SHOCKS, EXHAUST SYSTEM, TURN SIGNAL LENSES, FOG LIGHTS, FILTERS, FLUIDS, SPARK PLUGS, AND IGNITION WIRES. I JACKED THE TRUCK UP, SO THAT I COULD REPLACE THE EXHAUST. WHEN I CRAWLED UNDER THE TRUCK, I NOTICED THE FRAME AND FRAME CROSS MEMBERS WERE EXTREMELY RUSTY. THE TRUCK WAS ADVERTISED IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH NO RUST! I STARTED REMOVING THE OLD EXHAUST, AND MY HAND WENT THROUGH ONE OF THE FRAME CROSS MEMBERS. THE GAS TANK HANGS FROM THIS PARTICULAR FRAME CROSS MEMBER. HOW CAN THE TRUCK BODY BE SO NICE, BUT THE FRAME BE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT? IF WE HAD STATE INSPECTIONS, THERE'S NO WAY THE TRUCK WOULD PASS INSPECTION! I HAVE A 1995 GMC SIERRA THAT'S NEVER HAD ANY BODY RUST, OR RUST ON THE FRAME! I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND OUT IT'S COMMON FOR THE FRAMES TO BE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT ON THE GM TRUCKS BUILD FROM 1999 - 2007. THERE'S MILLIONS OF THESE TRUCKS ON THE ROAD, AND THE FUEL TANK, SPARE TIRE, OR REAR-END COULD EASILY FALL OFF! WHY ISN'T GM RECALLING THESE TRUCKS, AND REPLACING THE RUSTED OUT FRAMES? I HAVE A 2007 FORD F150 THAT DOESN'T HAVE ANY BODY RUST, OR FRAME RUST!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. UPON ENTERING THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND SITTING DOWN, THE SEAT MOVED AND FAILED TO LOCK IN PLACE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE SEAT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 195,000.
VEHICLE KEY IGNITION PROBLEM. REASON TO MY CONCERN IS THAT I'M BE ABLE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT WHILE IT IN DRIVE OR ANY OTHER POSITIONS. TO MY CONCERN THAT SAID KEY CAN POTENTIALLY FALL OUT DURING MOTION OF VEHICLE FROM IGNITIONS AND CAN POSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS IF SAID VEHICLE WAS TO TURN OFF WHILE IN DRIVE. PLEASE CONSIDER EVALUATING THIS ORDEAL AND COME TO A CONCLUSION! FOR THE SAKE OF THE CITIZENS. GOD AMERICAN!
WHILE TOWING A HEAVY TRAILER AT 30 MPH, I ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. WITH NO BRAKE WARNING LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD NO BRAKING WHATEVER. I STOMPED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE A HARD RIGHT TURN TO AVOID A COLLISION AND COASTED TO A STOP. LOOKING DOWN, THERE WAS A TRAIL OF BRAKE FLUID LEADING TO A LARGE PUDDLE UNDER THE DRIVER'S DOOR. LOOKING UNDER THE TRUCK REVEALED THAT INCREDIBLY RUSTED BRAKES LINES HAD BURST, DRAINING THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THE FLUID RESERVOIR. CLOSER INSPECTION SHOWED THAT EVERY FOOT OF BRAKE LINE UNDER THE TRUCK WAS IN SIMILAR CONDITION! AFTER TOWING IT HOME, I DISCOVER WHY THE E-BRAKE FAILED; THE CABLE WAS RUSTED SOLID. I HAD TO ORDER A COMPLETE BRAKE LINE KIT AND SPENT THE ENTIRE WEEKEND REPLACING THEM. IT WAS THEN THAT I FOUND OUT THAT THOUSANDS OF OWNERS HAVE BEEN FIGHTING GM TO MAKE GOOD ON THIS DEFECT. WE NARROWLY ESCAPED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND SPENT A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME AND MONEY, BESIDES HAVING TO BORROW A VEHICLE TO GET TO WORK FOR A WEEK.

ABS ACTIVATES WITHOUT ANY REASON ON DRY PAVEMENT DURING LOW SPEED BRAKING. BRAKES WILL NOT WORK, THEN. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT! TRUCK IS TECHNICALLY IN BEST CONDITION, HAS ONLY 40000 MILES!
1. ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN WHEELS ARE NOT SLIPPING. WHEN SLOWING THE TRUCK DOWN THE VEHICLE ABS ACTIVATES PREVENTING THE VEHICLE FROM STOPPING UNLESS YOU EITHER RELEASE AND REAPPLY THE BRAKE OR COLLIDE WITH THE OBJECT IN FRONT OF YOU. 2. BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY PULLING A 4,000 POUND TRAILER THE BRAKE LINE RUPTURED UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR CAUSING A LOSS OF BRAKES. I HAD THOUGHT THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS CROSSED TYPE SYSTEM AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE HAD BRAKE PRESSURE ON THE REMAINING INTACT LINES BUT THE PEDAL WAS SO SOFT I DON'T BELIEVE THERE WERE ANY BRAKES. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM UNDER EMERGENCY FAILURE.
FRAME FAILED. CRACKED AT TORSION BAR CROSS SUPPORT BOTH SIDES. IN THAT SECTION CAN PUSH SCREWDRIVER THRU FRAME. ENTIRE FRAME FLAKING LARGE CHUNKS, SPARE TIRE FALLING OFF. HAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED GAS TANK STRAPS, NEW SS BRAKE LINES. FUEL LINES NOW RUSTING THROUGH. SANDWICH PLATED WITH STEEL/BOLTS. FRAME REPAIR MORE THAN VALUE OF TRUCK. HAS 108,000 MILES, ABOUT 1/2 OF MILES I EXPECTED TO GET OUT OF IT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A 2 LANE ROAD ROAD AND A CAR SLOWED IN FRONT OF ME. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID THE CAR BY GOING TO THE SHOULDER AND THEN TURING ON TO A SIDE STREET. ONCE STOPED I EXITED THE TRUCK AND SAW BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM BELOW THE DRIVERS DOOR. THIS EXACT PROBLEM HAPPENED TO MY GRANDFATHERS 2001 SILVERADO NOT MORE THAT 3 MONTHS AGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5 AND 15 MPH, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVATE AND EXTENDED THE BRAKING DISTANCE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V37900 (SERVICE BRAKES). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I WAS BACK OUT OF DRIVEWAY THEN MY FOOT TO FLOOR .L LOST BRAKE PSI .I AM LUCKY THAT STEEL LINE BROKE IN THE DRIVEWAY AN ON ROAD OR THE HIGHWAY . I KEPT CLEAN AFTER EVERY SNOW I CLEAN BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK .
NO DAMAGE. THE ABS CONTROL SYSTEM FAILED. WARNING LIGHT ON DASH. THIS HAPPENED TWICE ON MY TRUCK. SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE PART.
THIS TRUCK WAS DRIVEN IN MINNESOTA SINCE 1999. ALL THE BRAKE LINES HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON THIS TRUCK DUE TO CORROSION. I DROVE THE TRUCK ON A FOUR LINE ROAD. THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED TO YELLOW AND I TRIED TO STOP BUT THE PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR.THIS TRUCK HAD SUCH BAD BRAKE LINES THAT WHEN BLEEDING THE BRAKE LINES FOR THE FRONT LINE ANOTHER LEAK STARTED OUT ONE OF THE REAR LINES. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY CONCERN FOR OWNERS OF A CHEVROLET SILVERADO.
