The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while approaching a stop sign, the brake pedal was depressed but traveled down to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The vehicle eventually came to a stop. No warning lights were illuminated. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, who confirmed that the vacuum pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). However, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 187,000.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER Feb 10, 2026
In Michigan- stopped for lunch - used remote start as always when it’s cold. Came out and got back on the road and about ten minutes later a loud bang and the back window shattered. A quick google said it’s a known problem on this model with the power sliding window due to the rear defrost and there’s a recall for Canada and 10 us states but Illinois isn’t covered. Hard to understand when it’s the same part number. GM customer service rep also stated they won’t cover it when we called the corporate office. If we’d been alerted we would’ve disabled the rear defrost long ago. Frightening to know it’s a fire hazard and what if we’d had children in the back.
SERVICE BRAKES Feb 7, 2026
Driving the truck, a nut fell against my foot. I pulled over and looked underneath to where this Nut could have come from. I realized that the brake pedal was very loose. I did a Google search to see what break pedal Nut could have loosened and Fallen off. I identified that there was a recall for the brake pedal pivot nut on these trucks. From that, I looked up to that section and found that the nut did indeed come from that part. I called the local Chevrolet dealership and they informed me that my VIN number was not part of that recall list. It is obvious that General Motors left the numbers off of that recall for vehicles that are still being affected by that problem. I called General Motors customer service and spoke to Brandy at customer service and she was not willing to help and only told me to contact this government agency. In order to prevent fatalities of innocent lives, I am reporting this.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Feb 6, 2026
The failure occurred in the rear sliding window defroster electrical system, specifically at the left-side electrical connection of the power sliding rear window. The component overheated and ignited, causing fire damage and shattering of the rear left portion of the window. The vehicle and damaged components are currently available for inspection upon request. The defect resulted in an active electrical fire during normal vehicle operation (remote start while warming up). This posed a serious risk of vehicle fire, injury to occupants, and potential spread to nearby vehicles or structures. As a firefighter, I recognized the danger and immediately shut off the vehicle and ventilated it; without trained action, the incident could have resulted in a total vehicle loss or more severe consequences. Yes. Copeland Chevrolet in Hudson, Massachusetts inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the damage was consistent with the known defect in the rear sliding window defroster system, consistent with GM Customer Satisfaction Program XXX. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized GM dealership (Copeland Chevrolet). No police or insurance inspection has occurred to date. No warning lamps, messages, or prior symptoms were present. The failure occurred suddenly and without warning during normal operation while the vehicle was warming up using the factory-installed remote start. This is a known defect acknowledged by GM under Customer Satisfaction Program XXX (which expired in 2022), which described overheating and fire risk in the rear sliding window defroster electrical connection. That program was limited by state and excluded Massachusetts, so I was never notified despite identical risk. This same defect is currently the subject of an active safety recall in Canada, where it is treated as a fire hazard requiring corrective action. ENGINE Feb 6, 2026
2015 Chevrolet Silverado complete engine failure. At 143,000 miles the engine failed because of the displacement on demand fuel injection system/lifters. Lifter failed without warning, destroyed the camshaft, cam bearing and crank and crank bearings. Chevrolet/GM were no help at all and took on responsibility for building defective engines they knew would fail after the warranty expired. I ended up spending nearly $17,000 to have a remanufactured engine installed.
STEERING Feb 4, 2026
Vehicle has electrical issues with headlamps flickering and power steering loss (which is electronic) at lower speeds. Power and radio intermittently cut out momentarily and on occasion a "stabilitrac loss" warning flashes. Looking online, many consumers experience this issue which appears to be due to faulty ground or battery connections and many have reported complete loss of power at highway speeds resulting in accidents. This appears on several Chevrolet vehicles, but especially on the Silverado and GMC Sierra 2014-2017 models. I am very surprised a recall has not been issued yet for this very dangerous and potentially fatal issue.

When my windows are up the heater whines, now yesterday the rear window blew out, I’m being told it is a known issue with the 2015 Chevy Silverado, I saw it was recalled and fixed in 2020, obviously the fix did not work and now my truck is a fire danger.

VISIBILITY/WIPER Jan 15, 2026
Trucks driver side rear window which is a three-piece window with a sliding window in the middle has shattered apparently due to a defect or fault in the rear window fogger. I had my son in the back at one point and put the defogger on, and it started smoking and nearly caught on fire. No warning on either incidences and they did not occur at one time but about two days apart.

The contact's father owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while the owner was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine made a tapping sound, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unsure whether a warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the lifters and the camshaft had failed. The cost of the repair had not yet been determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000. The VIN was not available.

I was driving down the road like normal then for a second smelled a burning smell then my back window (power sliding) drivers side just exploded and completely shattered.
POWER TRAIN Dec 20, 2025
I was driving on a busy street with a speed limit of around 45 mph and my torque converter failed causing my transmission to fail and my truck to become disabled in the middle of a busy road. It blocked traffic causing a potential danger to surrounding motorists and required assistance to be moved to a nearby parkin lot and later to be towed to the Chevrolet Dealership. The dealership confirmed that the transmission had failed. I subsequently took it to a specialist transmission shop that dismantled it an indicated that the torque converter had failed (a known problem with this year and model transmission) and that the failure had led to catastrophic damage to the transmission. There were no warning signs other than a couple of hard shifts just prior to failure. I was lucky that this occurred on a dry level street and not on a narrow mountain pass while pulling a trailer where the results could have been much different.

After years of driving like a grandma, my transmission unexpectedly failed while travelling down the freeway at 70mph. There were no warning signs, no vibrations, and I changed my transmission fluid at the dealer-recommended intervals. Huge bummer, really. I use my truck for work, and because of the time of year, it is unlikely that I'll be able to get it repaired for a few weeks. Certainly not going to help my bank account either, since a new transmission from Chevrolet is $4,800 before labor and other parts.

I am the original owner of a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. The vehicle's brake vacuum pump has failed, resulting in a sudden, significant loss of power braking assist. This requires excessive pedal force to stop the vehicle, creating an immediate safety hazard and increasing the risk of a crash. General Motors previously issued special coverage adjustment N192210240 ( or N182202780 ) to address this specific component failure, extending warranty coverage to 10 years or 150,000 miles. I never received notification of this coverage or the potential safety defect. The dealership has confirmed the vacuum pump failure but denied coverage because the 10- year window has recently expired. I contacted GM Corporate on 12/16/2025 and 12/17/ 2025 they declined GoodWill Assistance. I believe it is unreasonable to deny coverage for a know safety defect on a vehicle owned by the original purchaser who was never properly notified of the extension on N182202780.

First off the truck my father and I purchased was a brand new LT 1500 model with v6 engine and 4 wheel drive from Bill Defouw Chevrolet Lafayette, IN In 2020 I contacted the sheriff's department because the vehicle we had purchased had been stolen and switched out with another truck that had a non matching stamped vin on the frame underneath and nothing else matched with photos of proof did not match either. I gave the photos to the authorities to observe and they handed them back to me and laughed at me. The truck that was left with me that the thieves tried to make me believe was my truck was a salvage flood vehicle with the strong smell of mold and mildew and tires that didn't match and other areas on the truck that did not match our brand new truck we purchased that had never been altered except for adding a bed liner. I have tons of photos showing the unmatched stamped vin and photos throughout the years of ownership that I've been trying to get help with before someone gets hurt. When they wouldn't help me and continuously told me it was my truck in my possession even though I showed the proof I literally was brainwashed into believing what they were saying and I traded the truck in. When I finally realized that my gut instinct and proof was enough I contacted the dealership and took photos in where we purchased the truck to show them the differences and they agreed with me and told me to contact the police again. So I did and got the same results. Therefore there are two trucks out there possibly more that have been vin swapped and vehicle swapped from victims driveways, or work, or garage etc. I can submit my photos of proof immediately. They got my other vehicles too including my motorcycle I never got to ride because I noticed it a couple days after purchase. This crime is heavy and victims don't even know it's happened due to cloning.

SEAT BELTS Nov 18, 2025
I got in my truck and put my seatbelt on, next thing I know it’s just hanging there. The cable in the seatbelt broke, down by the door frame. Very dangerous! Can’t imagine if I had been in a car accident! Now my seatbelt is a safety hazard! I took it to the local dealer and they said they can fix it, they ordered the parts and said it’ll be over $300. They stated it had already been fixed during a recall & it’s my responsibility now. I would think Chevy would get this problem with the seatbelts fixed asap! I’m surprised someone hasn’t been killed because of them.

86K miles smelled gas. Dealer replaced one fuel injector on the 6 cylinder rail. At 108K miles, catastrophic engine failure caused by misfire in the #6 cylinder. No compression or diagnostic testing done at initial fuel injector replacement. It is now my understanding that it is good practice when replacing one fuel injector, all should be replaced. After truck was inoperable at 108K miles, ran a borescope into the 6 cylinder shaft and noticed massive wash and scoring. Goodwill from GM was denied for an engine swap. Subsequent diagnostic testing revealed low pressure in all cylinder heads. I don’t put a lot of miles on this truck per year and suspect the problem compounded over time without notice. There was gas mixture in the oil, however this issue was never brought to my attention during routine maintenance and oil changes. I know there were issues with the 6.2L and didn’t know of parallel or residual issues with the 5.3L. Long story short, I had to go with an engine swap on a truck with relatively low mileage.

After 5 minutes the truck starts back up by itself? This has occurred sitting in Popeyes drive thru line in August 2024 in Benton Harbor, Mi. This has occurred 3 times in the past week, 09/25/25 driving on Garrett road it shut down during the entry into a "s curve" 09/26/25 driving into my drive way 09/28/25 driving into my drive way Took the truck into Wimberley Chevy dealer and they searched for error codes and checked some of the ground wires not connected properly and found the negative cable on battery was ok. I don't know if any other wire connectors were checked, however I have had this before and the dealer said they would have to keep the truck as it may take quite some time in confirming all connections were good. the service manage of LeValley Cheverolet stated that they would require a $1,000 deposit for them to start looking into the problem and again require another $1,000 deposit to continue and then another etc. I will not drive my truck on any major highway or in any very busy large city for fear of having a return of another shutdown and no place to pull into as I was only coasting when I entered the "S curves" and had space.

Vacuum pump failed causing an anti-lock brake failure and destroyed all my brake pads and rotors. General motors and the dealership are only covering the vacuum pump, but require me the customer to pay for the brake pads, rotors, and installation fees. GM had the dealership perform 3 days of testing to verify that it was the vacuum pump. I was hauling a camper with my truck when it failed with my 2 young children inside and the truck ground to a halt while shaking violently scaring my children. I had to have the vehicle towed due to how dangerous the issue was.
