AIR BAGS: AIR BAG/RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 vehicles. Hard braking or acceleration may cause the sensing diagnostic module (SDM) to enter a fault state. As a result, the SDM will not provide crash sensing or deploy the necessary air bags in the event of a crash.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the SDM with updated software, free of charge. The recall began on June 29, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18195.

Two of the wheels of my 2019 Corvette have cracked. GMC has turned this issue over to Analytics Consulting LLC to reimburse those owners that have had a problem with cracked wheels. I submitted a claim for one of the wheels, in July of 2025 and have yet to hear from them. In the mean time I had another wheel crack but I can not claim that one because it's beyond the date they set. I contacted GMC and their response was they couldn't do anything for me. My point in this whole matter is that I've had two wheels crack but I still have two that might crack. GMC admits to defective wheels and yet there was never a recall. They are playing Russian roulette with Corvette wheels that are on the road daily. I've had costly repair bills for wheels that were defective when GMC put them on my car. These wheels could crack at any point while I'm driving or God forbid when my wife is driving. She doesn't want to ride in the car anymore because she feels it's unsafe. I can't sell it because I would have to affirm that these wheels might crack. Who would buy my car? The value of my dream car has plummeted. I'd like reimbursed for the two I've already paid for and all four wheels replaced with wheels that have been tested and new ones that are proven to be safe. Is it too much to ask GMC to build safe cars? They say it is important to them that the customer satisfaction and safety is utmost. I'm asking them to live up to that so I need your help to see that they do.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a slow leak in the passenger’s side rear wheel. The contact stated that air was added two to three days later, and the tire warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred for two weeks. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, and four new tires were ordered. While installing the tires, the mechanic became aware that two rear rims were cracked. The contact stated that one rear rim had two cracks, and the other rear rim had three cracks. The dealer had not recommended repairing the rims. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to help because the contact had missed the deadline to have the cracked rims repaired by January 01, 2025. The failure mileage was approximately 14,500.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle shook and shuddered abnormally. The contact stated that the failure had been constant since purchasing the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact believed that the shudder was due to the high-performance engine. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact stated that during an alignment at a dealer, the service technician informed the contact that the shudder was a known failure caused by the transmission fluid, causing the torque converter to shudder whenever the accelerator pedal was depressed. The technician provided the contact information on TSB: 19-NA-018. The contact stated that the vehicle had not been diagnosed by the service technician using a diagnostic machine. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

GM has a well known issue with the transmission fluid used in assembly on a range of cars and dates which include my 2019 Corvette. The fluid used fails/ is defective. The process to fix the issue is to flush the fluid out and put in a different fluid. In the case of my Corvette, it actually requires a very expensive triple flush to ensure all of the original Dexron fluid has been removed and is replaced my Mobil fluid. The process is explained in an 18 page service bulletin 18-NA-355. This bulletin states that if a customer comes in complaining of shake/shudder during acceleration between 25 to 80mph or when the trans is not actively shaking, then there is no need to further diagnose. Just follow the procedure in the service bulletin. In other words, there is no need to investigate further because we already know what the problem is which is the defective Dexron fluid. This was my exact experience with the shake/shudder and the triple flush completely fixed the issue. My vehicle has 17k miles on it so this was no a normal maintenance issue nor would you expect a full flush of transmission fluid at 17k or really at any point. Perhaps adding some fluid at some point would be reasonable. Having to completely remove all traces of the assembly line fluid with a completely different fluid clearly indicates a defect in the original Dexron. The service bulletin clearly indicates GM knows that the Dexron is defective. A final note, a quick web search of this issue will bring up pages of threads of people who have experienced this exact issue. Please hold GM responsible for their error. Thanks

My vehicle has been a legacy gmc dealership in Slidell la for three months now waiting on a replacement engine from a factory failure. And I have no clue when and if I will ever get it back because all General Motors is says is that the engine is on back order and from what I’m reading they discontinued this engine back in 2023. They haven’t helped me with anything I been paying my car note and renting a vehicle at my cost and they’re doing nothing. And I can’t get them to give me any info on if or when this will get fixed . Meanwhile, this is putting a huge financial burden on me and my family and GM doesn’t give [XXX][ about it. Companies like this be allowed to just walk over people with no record of their actions. Thank you for any help with this. I’ve reached out to everyone and no one will help. My 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the transmission system along with the torque converter began to malfunction as the car seemed to change from different modes. This malfunction caused the transmission to shudder, which caused a very bad vibration while accelerating and driving between the speed of 25-70mph. These actions or behaviors by the car surely poses a control and stability risks well as a safety risk for everyone on the highway and to myself. This issue was confirmed by the GM dealership I took the car to on 8/23/2024 and they said they could not get to it until 9/9/2024 and they will have to do a triple transmission fluid flush based on a service bulletin (TSB 18-NA-335) which was issued by General Motors. My car gave me no warning by way of lights or messages within the car. I would like to know why this repair is not covered under the service bulletin since General Motors knows this is a issue with the cars.
POWER TRAIN Jul 9, 2024
In my 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, the transmission system began to malfunction, specifically related to the torque converter. This malfunction caused the transmission to shudder, creating a noticeable vibration during acceleration and driving. The unpredictable behavior of the vehicle due to the shuddering compromised control and stability, posing a risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road. The problem was confirmed by the dealership's service center, which performed a transmission fluid flush according to the service bulletin (TSB 18-NA-355) issued by General Motors. Although there were no specific warning lamps or messages, the shuddering symptom appeared several months before the repair. The dealership corrected the issue by performing the necessary service, which cost me $853.52, an amount I paid under protest as I believe it should have been covered under the service bulletin. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, and the dealership, acting as an authorized representative of the manufacturer, diagnosed and addressed the issue.

Cracked wheels on the 2017 to 2019 Corvette Grand Sport and Z06 models is a significant safety issue and needs to be addressed by your organization. My corvette developed a cracked wheel. We took it to the Dealership that put new tires on a week ago because the low air alarm came on. They informed me the wheel was cracked and denied damaging it when putting on the new tires. “It just happens” was their claim. Now we learn there is a class action lawsuit because so many generation C7 Corvettes are suffering unexplainable wheel failures. GM is denying warranty claims and it’s costing the car owners thousands of dollars to replace wheels. The wheel I need is going to be $1200 and will likely be yet another OEM wheel prone to the same problem. Should this not be something in your agencies purview to investigate?

My factory wheel cracked in two places while traveling to the Corvettes at Carlisle event. I have a little over 18000 miles on my car at this point. I have taken great care of my car and have not hit and rough potholes or obstacles in the road. I have not “tracked” my car either. I have read about many other Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport owners who have suffered the same cracked and bent rim issues with the stock GM supplied wheels. Apparently the wheels are faulty as reported by hundreds of dissatisfied owners. The cracked wheels fail to hold air pressure causing a safety situation while driving at highway speeds. I understand that there is a current class action lawsuit in progress. I feel that GM should stand by their product and replace these inferior wheels with safer, more sturdy ones..especially for the price we paid for the vehicle. At this point, the consumers need the NHTSA to help us with this situation as GM has refused to accept any responsibility at this point. They blame the consumer’s driving habits as a reason for the issue….not the obvious faulting manufacturing of the wheel. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to hearing your response. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Per the dealership, the bent wheels are not covered under warranty and the problem is the result of normal wear-and-tear. However, I found numerous complaints on the internet stating GM made the wheels with inferior material that is "cast, rather than forged, and is of insufficient strength to withstand the torque and power input from the drivetrain," I am now scared to drive the car because the bent wheels or a safety hazard and will more than likely start to crack which could result in causing a wreck. At this time the only way to correct the failure is to purchase new wheels if I wish to continue to drive the car and prevent from being a safety hazard or causing a collision.

The rim cracked from the outside edge and progressed until air begin to leak. The dealer will not replace the rim unless you bought a tire and rim policy. But the manufacture of the tire does warrantee the tire and the dealer knows that to be the case. So the dealer knows the rims are the problem. I have researched and many others have the very same problem with their Corvette rims cracking until air is lost. These rims are definitely improperly designed and they should be recalled.

In February 2021, my Chevy dealer service department found that both of my rear wheels were bent and had to be repaired. My Corvette had 13,319 miles on it and I had never run off road or hit a major pot hole to cause this level of damage. The service technician said that this was 'common' on 2017 to 2019 Corvette Grand Sport and Z06 OEM wheels. Additionally, the wheels would probably 'crack' in the future and need to be replaced. I find this totally unacceptable that GM (Chevy) would design and manufacture defective wheels on a sports car, or any of their vehicles.
