The driver’s seat heater malfunctioned and produced excessive heat while activated during normal vehicle operation. The heat became extremely intense at a low temperature and resulted in burns to the driver’s midsection, lower back, and upper buttocks. I, the driver sustained physical injuries including burning sensations, skin irritation, and visible discoloration marks in the affected areas. The excessive heat occurred without warning and created a safety hazard to the driver while operating the vehicle. There were no warning lights, messages, or alerts indicating a problem with the seat heating system prior to the incident. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Nissan Motor Corporation Consumer Affairs. An inspection appointment originally scheduled for February 24, 2026 was rescheduled to March 12, 2026. The vehicle and seat heating components are available for inspection upon request.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING Mar 9, 2026
The vehicle was unknowingly purchased with an improperly assembled braking system from which is formally known as Koeppel Nissan. The braking assembly failed during operation, resulting in loss of proper braking capability and causing a collision. The braking failure created a serious safety risk to the myself (the driver) and others on the roadway. There were no warning lights, dashboard messages, or other indicators prior to the braking failure. The issue with the braking assembly was not identified at the time of purchase and when the vehicle was returned to Koeppel Nissan to have cosmetic damages fixed. A request was made to thoroughly check of the braking system. After repairs, Koeppel Nissan assured there were no issues with braking system. It was discovered months afterward by Thruway Nissan dealership that the rear rotor pads were mismatched and the driver rear pad was installed upside down. The issue was viewed by a Thruway Nissan service technician, who identified the improper braking assembly. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Nissan Motor Corporation Consumer Affairs for this issue but has been reported. The vehicle and the braking system components are available for inspection upon request.

Yesterday at around 9:10 AM I was driving home southbound on the New Jersey Parkway around exit 89. It was a clear day. It was about 43°, the sun was out. I was doing the speed limit which was 65 mph. I heard a loud bang and then my moonroof spontaneously exploded and all of the glass fell on me and in the car, luckily I was not hurt. I leased this vehicle a little over two years ago. Ever since I have driven it, I have stated to the dealership in writing and on the phone that I feel it is not right and unsafe. I have had three Popped tires in under a year , granted they were from potholes, but I have been complaining about the tires. I have said repeatedly they don’t feel right there is something wrong with them and they’re not even safe for the road because if you hit anything, it immediately pops out the side wall. They are clearly too thin, and not safe for driving even locally. There is a class action lawsuit against Nissan for spontaneous moonroof explosions and there are tons of people talking about online the inadequacies of the Bridgestone tires on the 2024 Nissan Altima.

On [XXX] I purchased a brand-new 2024 Nissan Altima SR from Vaden Nissan located at 10421 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA 31419, Phone 912-920-5600; with approximately 25 miles on the odometer. On the day of purchase, the vehicle emitted a noticeable mold odor inside the cabin. The vehicle was returned to the dealership on March 11, 2024, due to the mold odor. It was again returned on March 13, 2024, after water was discovered inside the trunk area of the vehicle. At the time of sale and shortly thereafter, water was present inside the trunk area, and the vehicle continued to exhibit water intrusion. The water intrusion appears to be associated with defective weatherstripping or sealing, which allowed moisture to enter the vehicle. On March 19, 2024, the dealership returned the vehicle to me with visible mold present inside the vehicle. The mold condition was observable at the time it was returned to consumer use. The vehicle was not professionally remediated for mold contaminated before being released back to consumer possession. A professional mold inspection later identified over 100,000 mold spores and at least ten (10) different types of mold inside the vehicle. Although the source of water intrusion was reportedly repaired on October 25, 2024, the vehicle remains inoperative and unsafe due to mold contamination. The mold condition persists despite repair attempts. I remain in possession of the vehicle, which cannot be safely driven or occupied. The manufacturer was notified of the water intrusion and mold contamination; however, the safety issue remains unresolved. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter to determine whether the water intrusion and resulting mold contamination present a broader safety concern and whether the handling and return of the vehicle to consumer use was appropriate given the visible mold condition.INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

MY 2024 Nissan Altima, with approximately 13,000 miles stalled while driving in 10 degree Fahrenheit weather with snow on the road. My speed was around 45 MPH. The vehicle immediately stalled and all the lights on the dashboard went on. The warning flashed something about an engine error. The brakes seized up while in snowy weather and with cars very close behind me. Easily could have caused an accident and was a pretty scary event. The car is maintained well and have very low mileage and is taken care of well. I slowed down and then another error screen popped up saying to immediately take care for service. While I was attempted to slow down with brake pedal super hard to push; I attempted to put car in neutral with my hazard lights on by now. Car started again while I was coasting about 20 mph, with engine light showing. I immediately took it to the closest dealership to me for service and left it there. This is completely unacceptable behavior for a new car of this type and I never experience anything ever like this with my old 2012 Nissan Altima. This could have caused a very bad accident had I not been driving and my wife or something else not as calm as me were to be driving. I suggest investigating this because I have read about recalls for this type of thing on previous models of Nissans. Currently vehicle is parked at dealership for service on 1-24-2026.

This incident happened twice in one week first with 2023 Nissan Sentra then replaced with a 2024 Nissan Altima both rented from Enterprise. I was traveling down the street from my house, a two-lane, steep hillside road, which I’ve traveled up and down for 30 years. I stopped behind a parked car on the right side of the road to let another car come up the hill and pass by before I continued down. As I continued down the hill, the car just began to accelerate and I could not stop it, I tried to break, but no response and the car kept accelerating for about 50 feet before crashing into. the granite hillside, lifting the car so it landed perpendicular to the road, setting off all airbags and blocking all traffic completely. Thankfully there was no other damage to other cars, homes or people, which was a minor miracle. To reach such an impact speed in such short distance suggests some kind of mechanical failure. My insurance paid for a replacement rental, a 2024 Altima and on my first drive down the hill, in the exact same spot, the steepest of the road, the exact thing happened, rapid acceleration and no breaks.

STEERING Sep 6, 2025
Just purchased a pre-owned 2024 Nissan Altima SR mileage 23637. Driving home from the dealership, steering wheel had intermittent vibration which continues to this day. Brought to dealership on September 3, 2025 and they were unable to duplicate problem at that time. Rescheduled new appointment to re-evaluate problem for September 11, 2025. Our safety is compromised by the strong possibility of the collapse of the steering wheel while driving as other recalled Altima cars in 2024 models. Trying to prevent a potential accident and loss of life. Respectfully, concerned driver

The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was parked, the contact observed water draining from the driver’s side door when the door was opened. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the there was a leak in the driver's rear seat through the seat belt and possible the door weld body. The contact stated that the carpet floor, front spacer, and trim assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

AIR BAGS May 13, 2025
On [XXX], I was involved in a major accident while driving my 2024 Nissan Altima SV. I was traveling at approximately 20 mph when another vehicle hit my vehicle from front right coming at a speed of not less than 80 mph. The impact was significant enough that it totaled my car. The accident took place near [XXX] . Despite the severity of the collision, none of the airbags deployed—including the front and side curtain airbags. I and front passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time. The lack of airbag deployment in a crash of this magnitude presents a serious safety concern and a potential defect in the SRS. The vehicle is still under its original factory warranty, and there were no warning lights or prior faults reported in the airbag system before the crash. This raises serious concerns about the reliability of the vehicle’s safety systems. It is still not yet inspected by Nissan yet. I’m reporting this in the interest of public safety and to urge investigation into the possibility of a defective airbag system in this vehicle. I am also in communication with Nissan, for this. I believe this matter deserves full investigation and potential recall action if other vehicles may be affected. When I first start the car the engine revs and the tachometer or the RPM reader stays above 2 while reving for over a minute which is too long. The needle eventually goes to 1 but it seems like when I change gears to drive it "hits hard" then almost skids out and almost glides at times. It doesn't happen every single time but it happens often enough where I don't feel safe driving. The steering when I back out of a space also feels like it is "skipping". I don't know how to really describe it but it is worrisome

There is an obvious gap in the lining of the rear upper left corner of the trim that attaches the back windshield to the top and the car and rear door. I have photos included the dealership admitted to it not existing on their other models from that year and that I was correct although they could do nothing about it because it was an obvious manufacturing defect. I have photos included... Called national Nissan help line for assistance and they called me once and never responded to my emails after that.
BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS Jul 10, 2024
The dashboard camera screen on all 2024 Altima models displays a white foggy haze, which worsens at night and obstructs and distorts image view. The issue worsens in low light (garages, nighttime) where it is difficult to recognize or identify objects. On 7/10/2024, a Nissan dealership master mechanic reported to us that all 2024 Nissan Altimas suffer from this issue; however, when asked, Nissan corporate has no remedy, repair, or replacement for the component(s), causing this white fog haze that obscures the driver's view. We were told by the dealership where we purchased the vehicle that this issue only affects the 2024 Nissan Altimas. Especially at nighttime, the white foggy haze reduces our ability to identify people and objects, posing a safety concern. There have been two incidents at night where the Cross Traffic Warning and Parking Collision Warning were activated, but the driver could not identify the warning when viewing the camera screen due to poor clarity. Our family has a different 2024 model Nissan and it does not have this camera screen obstruction issue.

This request is due to my concern that a possible manufacturing or other defect in the 2024 Nissan Altima’s steering and/or wheel mechanisms caused a sudden loss of steering control and resulted in a collision and serious injuries. The car was taken possession by National Car Rental. I am unsure if the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others, but it has been reported to the manufacturer (Nissan), my insurance company (State Farm), and the car rental company (National). I don't think there were any warning lights. The following is what I experienced. I was driving, passengers were in the front and rear right seats. The car was in the right lane on [XXX] heading into an underpass when the Altima experienced a sudden jolt in the steering wheel with smoke coming out of the steering wheel; steering turned very stiff as if it had lost power and the car pulled to the right and off the road. I struggled to maintain control over the vehicle; nonetheless, given the narrow shoulder of the underpass and the sudden difficult steering, the car collided lengthwise along the passenger side against a cement barrier and metal guardrail. The front and back passenger-side airbags deployed, striking both passengers; rear seat passenger was seriously injured; driver and front passenger were bruised. Bolt is transmission housing was not installed at manufacture plant, causing other bolt to fail, causing drive shaft to follow out and into the catalytic converter, regarding vehicle undriveable
POWER TRAIN Jul 2, 2024
While driving vehicle down residential street at approximately 15 mph, vehicle all of a sudden made a long noise and began to shake. Per repair facility, a bolt in the transmission housing was not installed at manufacturing plant. The single bolt (should have been two bolts), sheared off, cause the drive shaft to drop into the catalytic converter. If I had been traveling on the highway at high speed the drive shaft dropping to the highway surface could have caused catastrophic accident. Peoria Nissan has component that failed Drive shaft dropping out of drive train could have cause and accident with my vehicle and others Manufacturer has been notified, they have inspected No warnings or symptoms prior to failure

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING May 31, 2024
The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while his son was driving 35 MPH, the vehicle experienced Phantom braking. The contact stated that his son depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle continued to drive with no additional failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was diagnosed as a sensor with the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system and a fractured bracket. The AEB sensor was replaced; however, the contact was waiting for the bracket to be replaced because the bracket was on backorder. The contact stated that the AEB system was deactivated as per the Service Manager's advice since the dealer was waiting for the bracket to be received. The contact provided part number: 28438-5FA6A (Sensory Assemble DIST) and part number: 62310-9HF8E (Grille Radiator). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 21,000.

Recently purchased a new 2024 Nissan Altima SL in December 2023. Found the backup camera safety component display to have a poor-quality, low resolution, distorted image. Guidelines are not sharp and objects in the backup path are obscured and practically invisible. In the evening the view is so bad the camera is practically useless...even without bad weather. Especially at night, this can be a hinderance rather than an aid to safety. I took the vehicle in for service at the dealer in January and again in May. I was told there was no fault with the camera or display. Another same model vehicle was shown to me, but it was in the daytime and although the image was also of poor quality, they said this was normal. I was also shown a Rogue and there was an absolutely perfect image. They admitted something was different but still said the image on my car had NO FAULT. They could not do anything not even trying another camera. They said I needed to contact NISSAN. This poor-quality image was also present on the front and side cameras. My previous car was a 2019 Altima Platinum which had great camera clarity as it should be. I am beginning to believe the manufacturer received defective cameras or chose to use a lower cost camera in their vehicles. I paid a premium price for a high-tech vehicle with many safety features but received a poor-quality unsafe feature that should not be ignored.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS Mar 9, 2024
While driving, the auto spontaneously without warning has a near catastrophic failure of all systems (e.g. anti-lock brakes, emissions, control, automatic windows etc.) All warning icon lights are on the driver’s front video are displayed while a central scrolling message reports all the major systems malfunctioning (as mentioned above). The auto immediately decelerates and now can no longer go faster than 20 mph. This has twice caused the car behind me to nearly read end me. When pressing on the gas pedal (which feels like pushing down on mashed potatoes) you can not affect acceleration. At any pressure the car accelerates on its own very slowly until it reaches maximum speed. It takes about 30 – 45 seconds to go from 0-20 mph. According to invoice of the repairs the “Channel Can Gateway Internal” is faulty. Yet they have failed three times to fix it. This car has been out of service up to this date 57 days and is once again back at the service department. The auto has malfunctioned identically on Dec. 19. 2023, Dec. 27, 2023, Feb. 2, 2024 and March 8, 2024

Recently purchased a NISSAN Altima 2024. Found the backup/camera safety component as well as front and side cameras extremely cloudy whether its in the day or night. Not to mention during inclement weather it gets worse. It is to the point I cannot see clearly behind or my surroundings with these cameras. Sun reflection blinds every thing making it impossible to see. Brought it up to the sales person the same day I purchased it. He mentioned it was only the protection film on the dash screen. Once removed the images would be clear. Which was not the case. Now comparing to a Sentra 2021, I previously had. The images were so much clearer. Upon taking it in to the dealership after my 1st month of purchase; the advisor straight up told me they would be unable to do anything regarding this matter. As it was due to a new manufacturer nissan was working with and not the same as before. He also mentioned i was not the only one to show the same concern. He explained whether they changed the cameras, it wouldn't make a difference at all. I would still be dissatisfied. To be quiet honest, I wonder whether these cameras even meet the Proper Safety Standards. Where I live, I depend on the cameras on a daily basis due to tight squeeze areas. Unfortunately at this time, I'm now considering buying extra cameras to help the situation I'm in. As I am now concerned that it may pose a safety. This should not be the case.
