LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH
Defect Description
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2018 Nissan Altima vehicles. If the primary hood latch is inadvertently released, there is an increased likelihood that the secondary hood latch may corrode over time.

Remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a stronger release spring in the hood release lever, a warning label near the secondary hood latch, and an Owners Manual addendum card with instructions on how to lubricate and maintain the secondary hood latch mechanism, free of charge. Owner n

-Upon research, it appears my Nissan has an issue with the headlight lamps that have caused the low beams to diminish over time. This is a recorded defect (class action lawsuit [XXX], et al. v. Nissan North America, Inc.) of Nissan Altimas years 2013-2018. -There is a Nissan Dealership in my city
... I can take the vehicle to for further inspection and subsequent replacement. I would like documentation to further provide to the dealership in case there is any resistance to replacement. -The headlights are so dim I cannot see the road ~15 feet beyond me. The car's high beams, turn signals, and brake lights are all in working condition. The only thing affected are the low beam lights, which further suggest the headlight lens is not of issue. This can cause difficulty seeing at night and could prove to be a safety issue for myself and others, as well as limiting others' visibility of me. -There have been no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior. The check engine light is not on. I have had this car in my possession and under my name for about a year and the headlights have diminished over time to an unsafe degree. 1. The vehicle suffers from a recurring parasitic battery drain that results in a completely dead 12V battery after the vehicle sits for short periods. This appears to be a software or hardware failure in the Body Control Module (BCM) or Radio Frequency (RF) Hub that prevents the vehicle from enteri
... ng 'sleep mode.' The vehicle is currently at the dealership getting looked at. But I can have it available for inspection upon request. 2. I regularly commute between Orange County, CA, and Las Vegas, NV. This route involves long stretches of remote desert (I-15) with extreme temperatures often exceeding 100°F and limited cell service. A recurring, unpredictable battery failure in these conditions creates a life-safety risk, as it can leave a driver stranded without climate control or the ability to call for help in a high-heat environment. As a medical professional, the lack of vehicle reliability also impacts my ability to reach clinical assignments safely. 3. Yes. The issue has been documented during three separate service visits to an authorized Ram dealership. On each occasion, the battery was found to be depleted below functional levels. Despite these visits and attempted 're-flashes' of the software, the parasitic drain persists. 4. The vehicle has been inspected and 'serviced' three times by authorized manufacturer representatives (certified Ram dealership technicians). 5. Symptoms first appeared the day after I purchased the vehicle. There were no dashboard warning lights until the battery was too low to crank the engine, at which point 'Electrical System Service Required' and multiple sensors failure errors appeared. I am aware of TSB 08-380-25 (which specifically addresses the BCM re-flash for battery drain) but that it has failed to resolve the issue after three attempts.Read more

I contacted Ford about my issue when I learned that recalls on other Ford products were issued for my fault. They all say that since it is not included in the recall list they will not fix it. I will have to pay for diagnosis plus any repair costs. Since this is already stated to be a Safety Issue, I feel that it should be fixed by the manufacturer. Just because they did not include my VIN in their recall list should not be an excuse for not fixing the Safety Problem. I asked for a list of the serial number range of the recall but they would not provide. When I requested to speak to higher management they also declined to give me that information as well. I have been involved with high volume manufacturing for over 50 years and know that although every attempt to quantify a range of products with a certain defect may be made, it is not possible to 100% guarantee that there is not an outlier in the distribution. As the watchdog for defective automotive product (especially Safety Issues) I feel that NHTSA should be involved and assist me in getting Ford to correct this Safety issue.Read more

Purchased my car brand new. Within 1.5 years I've had to have 2 steering racks replaced and another component replaced within the steering column. Currently my lane keeping assist problem is on and I'm waiting to get appt confirmation from the service dept manager. My infotainment center went bla

I'm currently dealing with the Honda I purchased from to try to come to a resolution of this issue since I don't want my brand new car to have a bumper repainted and possibly not match and have it show up on a carfax report. Also have what the dealership calls "fisheyes" under the clear coat of the factory paint. Approx 20-25 spots on my entire car. The dealership said they could "buff" the places but shouldnt have left the factory in that condition. The body shop that Honda sent me too said once they started buffing on the "fisheyes" that they couldn't guarantee that the buffing of the spots would correct the issue or if they would need to repaint which I'm not ok with since it is a brand new car and paint might not even match the rest of the car. Also', I should add that all the maintenance and repairs have been completed at the dealership where I purchased my car brand new.Read more

In February 2025, my jeep would flash a “Service Hybrid System” code that would last about 3-5 seconds and disappear. This happened about 4-5 times over the next few months, code would not stay up and vehicle seemed unaffected. On June 10, I was driving with son on a highway about 60 mph when
... my car completely shut off, no power to engine, no power steering- absolutely nothing. We experienced a very aggressive jerk when this happened and I limped the vehicle off to the shoulder- we live in a remote area and I had no cell service. I was able to restart my car and drove it in “e-save” mode home. The next day, I drove my car again and had my son and daughter in the vehicle and the same exact thing happened. I was driving about 55mph around a corner with a large semi coming at me in the oncoming lane and my vehicle shut off and lost power and power steering. I was terrified that I would veer into that truck and there was not a shoulder readily available. We had to yet again limp the vehicle a few yards around the corner to pull off and I did not have service. So I had to walk to call my husband to pick my children up. The car has been at the dealership since then and told there is a digital crash code showing with no eta on a fix. Stellantis has denied a buyback yet my car has 26,000 miles on it and is under warranty with no eta on fix. Vehicle is unsafe to drive and unfixable for 60 days now.Read more

The MMI (the display with radio, carplay, cameras, warnings etc) restarts without any warning every 5-10 minutes. This lead to the backup camera not showing and warnings about proximity to objects not working until it has completed the restart of the display (~60 seconds). To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding ongoing and persistent issues with my 2020 Chevrolet Blazer. The vehicle has exhibited repeated problems that I believe may indicate a broader safety or mechanical defect, and I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate thes
... e concerns further. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced the check engine light turning on and off repeatedly, without consistent resolution. The following issues have occurred over time, all seemingly related to the engine or control systems: Engine Cooling System Failure: The first major issue involved the engine cooling system. This caused the vehicle to overheat and required service. I was concerned about the potential for engine damage or fire risk due to excessive heat. Variable Valve Timing (VVT) System Malfunction: Shortly after the cooling system issue, the vehicle began experiencing problems with the variable valve timing system. This not only affected performance and fuel efficiency but also caused the check engine light to illuminate again. Steering Control Assist Sensor Warnings: Most recently, the steering control assist sensor has started to malfunction, with warnings frequently popping up on the dashboard. This has impacted steering feel and raises serious safety concerns. Despite multiple service appointments and repairs, these problems persist or reappear. This cycle of temporary fixes without a lasting resolution is both frustrating and concerning from a safety standpoint. I am requesting that the NHTSA look into whether these recurring engine and control system issues are part of a known defect or recall-worthy problem affecting the 2020 Chevy Blazer. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more
