THE AFFECTED FRONT STRUT MOUNTS DID NOT CONTAIN A WELD JOINT BETWEEN THE BEARING HOUSING AND THE RATE PLATE.

NISSAN IS RECALLING MY 1994 AND EARLY 1995 ALTIMA VEHICLES FOLLOWING REPORTS THAT PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENTS IN THESE VEHICLES HAD CAUSED A NUMBER OF MODERATE-TO-SEVERE EYE INJURIES. NISSAN HAS DEVELOPED A NEW PASSENGER AIR BAG THAT IS LESS POWERFUL WHEN IT INFLATES IN A CRASH TO REDUCE THE RISK OF AIR BAG INFLATION-RELATED INJURIES.

WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL WITH MODERATE TO HEAVY PRESSURE (FOR MODERATE TO FAST ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE), THE VEHICLE, ON OCCASION, CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE AFTER RELEASING THE GAS PEDAL. IF THE GAS PEDDLE WAS PRESSED DOWN FIRMLY WHEN THIS HAPPENS, BRAKING HAS LITTLE EFFECT ON CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. TAPPING THE GAS PEDAL DOES NOT SEEM TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AS IT OCCURS. AFTER SHIFTING THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION), THE ACCELERATION SEEMS TO STOP WITHIN ONE SECOND.

IT WAS RIPPED AND HAD JAGGED EDGES ON THE SIDEWALL. THE TEARS AND RIPS WERE ON THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE. THESE TIRES WERE NEVER ROTATED. TWO TIRES WERE REPLACED ON APRIL 23, 2005. ANOTHER TIRE WAS REPLACED ON OCTOBER 8, 2005, AND ON OCTOBER 17, 2005. THE CONTACT STATED THE TIRE REPLACED ON OCTOBER 8, 2005 ACTUALLY BLEW. OUT. *AK

THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 1995 NISSAN ALTIMA AND NISSAN HAS ISSUED AT LEAST THREE SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, TWO SERVICE BULLETINS WERE ISSUED IN THE FIRST YEAR OF PRODUCTION (1995)!! THIS DEFECT REQUIRES A REPAIR COST OF APPROXIMATELY $750, AND SHOULD BE A RECALL WHERE NISSAN BEARS THE COST OF REPLACING SUCH A QUICKLY OCCURRING AND OBVIOUS DEFECT. *JB

THE PANEL IN MY CAR WAS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. I WOULD NOT HAVE A NEED TO COMPLAIN IF THE REPLACEMENT PANEL WAS THE SAME COLOR AS THE ORIGINAL PANEL. I WROTE TO NISSAN IN GARDENA, CA TO COMPLAIN OF THE TERRIBLE SERVICE I RECEIVED AT TISCHER AND THE DAMAGE AND POOR REPLACEMENT OF MY CAR PANEL. NISSAN IGNORED ME UNTIL I CONTACTED THE MARYLAND OFFICE OF CONSUMER PROTECTION REGARDING MY PROBLEM. NISSAN IGNORED ME UNTIL THE OFFICE OF CONSUMER PROTECTION INTERVENED. WHEN NISSAN DID RESPOND, THEIR TONE WAS ARROGANT AND INDIFFERENT AND TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PANEL REPLACEMENT WAS INCIDENTAL TO THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT AND THIS OCCURRED TO OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAD THE AIRBAGS REPLACED. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE CASE AND IF IT IS, I PERSONALLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY "PROPERTY" BEING ALTERED WITHOUT MY CONSENT AND NISSAN'S ATTITUDE AND STANCE THAT THAT HAVE FULFILLED THEIR OBLIGATION TO ME. I RESPONDED BACK TO THEM BASICALLY INFORMING THEM THAT THEIR REPLY WAS AND IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ME AND I CONTEND THAT THEY DAMAGED MY PROPERTY BY REPLACING A PANEL THEY DAMAGED WITH A PANEL THAT IS NOT THE SAME COLOR. AT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IT WAS MADE 3 TIMES, SINCE THEN OTHER ELECTRICAL PARTS HAVE FAILED AND/OR FAILING. AIR CONDITIONING HAS FAILED, WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS HAVE HAPHAZDERLY WORKED OFF AND ON. RADIO DOESN'T WORK SINCE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED. TRANSISSION SHIFT DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. HAVE TO GO TO ACCESSORY PUT SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL TO START VEHICLE. WHEN IN PARK START WILL NOT ENGAGE. THERE ARE NO RUBBER BOOTS ON CV JOINTS. DEALER CLAIMED THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER WRECKED OR HAD ANY MAJOR REPAIR WORK DONE. DEALER HAD WARRANTY ON VEHICLE, THEN SOLD BUSINESS, FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE WAS REQUIRED FOR WARRANTY TO BE IN EFFECT. NEW DEALER IS NOT HONORING WARRANTY AND THE VEHICLE IS FALLING APART.

MY ALTIMA WAS PURCHASED IN JANUARY, 2002 WITH ABOUT 67,000 MILES ON IT, AND IT IS A 1995 MODEL. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN MORE THAN SEVEN TIMES AND HAVE PAID AT LEAST $2,000. MY MAIN COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAVE HAD TO GO IN THREE TIMES TO REPAIR MY GEAR SHIFT. IT REPEATEDLY LOCKS INTO THE PARK POSITION AND IN ORDER TO TURN THE CAR ON, YOU HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL THEN START IT. WHENEVER THAT HAS HAPPENED, MY BRAKE LIGHT STOPS WORKING ALSO. I DO NOT KNOW HOW I GET FROM PLACE TO PLACE SAFELY WHEN MY BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT. I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE AROUND WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS, THEREFORE, I LOSE MONEY BECAUSE MY WORK REQUIRES THAT I TRAVEL BY CAR ON A DAILY BASIS. THE MECHANICS KEEP REPAIRING THE SAME ELECTRICAL FUSES, WHICH MUST BE FAULTY BECAUSE WHENEVER THEY ARE REPLACED, THE GEAR SHIFT WORKS AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORK. LESS THAN SIX MONTHS LATER, I AM BACK AT THE MECHANIC TO HAVE THE SAME THING REPAIRED AGAIN. MY CAR IS PARKED INDEFINITELY BECAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE OUT AGAIN AND I HAVE TO START THE CAR BY PUTTING IT INTO NEUTRAL AGAIN.
