K2 MOTOR IS RECALLING 1,921 AFTERMARKET HEADLAMPS OF VARIOUS MODELS SOLD FOR USE ON THE ABOVE LISTED VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMPS ARE MISSING THE AMBER SIDE REFLEX REFLECTOR WHICH FAILS TO CONFORM WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT."

THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT LOOSENS AT THE STEERING SHAFT TO STEERING GEAR COUPLING. WITH THIS LOOSENESS, THE YOKE PINCH BOLT CAN WEAR ON THE SPLINES OF THE SHAFT UNTIL THERE IS NO LONGER AN INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE SPLINES AND THE BOLT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL RETORQUE THE UPPER AND LOWER BOLTS TO CORRECT SPECIFICATIONS.

THE FIRESTONE SUPREME WAS THE TIRE THE 1988 S10 BLAZER ORIGINALLY CAME WITH. THIS ONE WE USED AS THE SPARE, REPLACING ONLY THE FOUR REGULAR TIRES WHEN NEEDED. WE PUT THE SPARE ON THE CAR BECAUSE THE CURRENT SET ARE CLOSE TO REPLACEMENT AND THE TREAD ON ONE WAS LOW. THIS FIRESTONE SUPREME HAD ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES ON IT THOUGH 12 YEARS OLD. IT FAILED BY TREAD SEPARATION, VERY MUCH LIKE HAS BEEN IN THE NEWS FOR THE RECALLED FIRESTONE WILDERNESS TIRES. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE NOT TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY (20MPH) AND LITTLE DAMAGE RESULTED.
