The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the horn failed to sound while pressing the horn pad in the center of the steering wheel. The horn only sounded while activated with the key fob. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a defective clock spring in the steering wheel, causing the horn and air bag to malfunction. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.
Soft pedal when braking goes nearly to floor before engaging. Repairs attempted flushing brakes, new brake fluid and new master cylinder at dealer still not fixed. Toyota wants to replace ABS actuator but cannot guarantee it will fix the problem. Many instances of this on Toyota and no solutions. Toyota is ignoring the problem.
Front Rotors purchased on Amazon warped in under 5,000 miles/3 months of normal highway and city driving conditions. Issue caused high vibrations in front end when braking from 40+ mph. Paired with new Wagner OEX pads when installed. Manufacturer’s Warranty period was 24,000 miles/2 years. Rear rotors also warped about 1,000 miles after front rotors did. Front rotors were turned/resurfaced at about 3,000 miles and warped again within 1,000 miles. Replaced with Raybestos high carbon steel rotors and ceramic pads and no issues since replacement (over a year). Wagner did not offer replacement equipment under warranty and Amazon offered only partial refund after return and restocking fees.
The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the contact became aware that the vehicle was not shifting above 2nd gear, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with shift solenoid C, and pressure control solenoid D. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 168,000.
Tire size275/55/R20 Back Country AT2 had complete sidewall detachment while going 75 on free-way. Tires appeared to be in good condition prior to incident. There were no potholes or road conditions that contributed to incident. This nearly resulted in a freeway speed rollover.
Manufacture is aware that there is a massive issue with the timing cover sealant that is being used for vehicles. Not only is the robot that applies the sealant for the timing cover and results in oil leaks for the owner the dealerships are aware that is an massive issue and wants owners to pay for removal of the engine to reapply update sealant to stop oil from leaking that comes from the timing cover. This results is oil being leaked onto public roadways , property but also results in massive cost for owners to address in order to stop the leaks from occurring that could result in engine damage and failure of timing components.
At irregular intervals and at the most random of times my headlights will cut out (including dash lights & radio). It happened this morning driving to the airport but it has been months since it last happened. The road was smooth with no bumps that I recall. This has happened to me in the past while stopped at a stop sign as well.
Vehicle has a leaking steering rack seal that when leaking does not give a warning. Vehicle loses power steering. Needs to be replenished regularly. Started out small, and was unaware of the issue. Started topping off the power steering fluid at around 24k miles (under warranty). A clunk in the suspension was diagnosed as a bad shock (bad diagnosis). Took it in to have the rack looked at by Toyota, but they will not remedy this issue, even though there are hundreds of people on the Internet with the same problem. I've never heard of a steering rack going bad before 100k miles, let alone before 30k.
When using the turn signal to indicate turning direction at night, all lights shut off randomly, leaving you with no way to see where you're going. This includes all cabin lights so you can't find the switch to turn the lights back on. This happen regularly. This has been detailed here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/auto-headlights-shut-off-with-turn-signal.22968 It seems Toyota knows about this problem already, as well as the fix for it, but won't voluntarily recall the vehicles to address it.

Truck shuts down after running for about 2 minutes; As if the ignition switch was turned off while driving. I then have to wait about 30 seconds to restart the truck. The truck will not start immediately after shutting off. It acts like something has to reset to allow the truck to start. The truck will do the same thing idling in my driveway. It starts right up; Runs about 2 minutes and shuts off. After 30 seconds the truck will restart. This is a danger on the highway. I do not have remote start.

FROM WHAT I CAN TELL FROM 2007 ONWARD TOYODA HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SECONDARY AIR ARE THE AIP PUMPS , THERE MIXING WATER AND GAS IN TO THE CONTAINER PUMPS WHICH IS CAUSING FAULTY PUMPS IN GOING OUT . BEING THAT THIS IS PART OF THE EMISSIONS IT HAS SAFETY HAZARDS TO COME WITH IT SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHECK THIS OUT.
HARD STARTING ISSUE ON COLD START DUE TO FUEL PUMP/ECU FLEX FUEL ISSUE FFV ENGINE 3UR-FBE. DATA SHOWS READING FUEL ALCOHOL CONTENT @ 56% EVEN THOUGH I'VE NEVER RUN ETHANOL... THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM ID ON MANY TUNDRA THREADS ONLINE. IN ADDITION TO INCREASED ENGINE WEAR ON STARTS, FUEL ECONOMY IS REDUCED BECAUSE ENGINE IS MAPPED TO ETHANOL BASED FUEL INSTEAD OF STANDARD GASOLINE FUEL MAPPING.
WIPER MECHANICAL COMPONENTS UNDER THE HOOD BROKE LOOSE FROM WIPER TRANSMISSION ON DRIVERS SIDE DURING HEAVY RAIN/SLEET/SNOW WITHOUT WARNING. PASSENGER SIDE STILL WORKED. RESEARCH INDICATES YEARS 2015-2018 NON LUBRICATED, NON REPAIRABLE PLASTIC COMPONENTS USED IN MECHANICAL ARMS WEAR QUICKLY. RUST BECAUSE COMPONENTS NOT PROTECTED FROM WEATHER AS PRECIOUSLY BUILT. WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON TWO LANE ROAD IF NOT FOR PASSENGER TO GUIDE TO SAFE STOP. THIS OCCURRED ON TWO LANE HIGHWAY DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE COMPLETE WIPER COMPONENTS NEED TO BE SAFETY RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH REDESIGNED COMPONENTS ON ALL TOYOTA MODELS AFFECTED. WIPER LINKAGE - TOYOTA (85150-0C070). THE DASH INSTRUMENT AND GAUGE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK DURING DAYTIME WHEN LIGHTS ARE SET TO AUTOMATIC. BASIC INSTRUMENTS ARE NOT CLEAR AND REQUIRE THAT THE DRIVER BE DISTRACTED MUCH LONGER THAN IS ACCEPTABLE TO TRY TO READ THE DARK INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS CONDITION IS PRESENT IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS WHETHER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP INSTRUCTED ME TO DRIVE WITH THE PARKING LIGHTS ON SO THE DASH WOULD BE LIT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS PROBLEM IS PRESENT ON ALL NEWER TOYOTA TUNDRAS. DRIVING IN THE DAYTIME WITH THE PARKING LIGHTS ON IS ILLEGAL. ADDITIONALLY, DRIVERS ARE MUCH MORE LIKELY NOT TO TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS AT DUSK AS MOST DRIVERS ARE USE TO HAVING THE LIGHTS SET TO AUTO. THIS AND THE DISTRACTION OF TRYING TO READ DARK AND DIFFICULT TO READ INSTRUMENTS WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS.

HELLO, MY NAME IS [XXX] AND I AM CONTACTING YOU REGARDING A RECENT SAFETY ISSUE MY PARENTS EXPERIENCED. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED: DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH, MY DAD WENT TO ADJUST HIS OUTSIDE MIRRORS. WHEN DOING SO, HIS FINGER BRUSHED THE "FOLD" BUTTON BY ACCIDENT, AND THE OUTDOOR SIDE MIRRORS FOLDED IN. HE WASN'T AWARE THAT HE TOUCHED THE BUTTON AS HE HAS NEVER USED THIS FEATURE IN THE PAST. NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY ARE NOW DRIVING 70 MPH IN A VERY LARGE TRUCK AND DO NOT HAVE A CLEAR SAFE VIEW AS THEY HAVE TO CHANGE 4 LANES TO EXIT THE FREEWAY AND THEN NAVIGATE TO A SAFE AREA TO TRY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION HAS BEEN COPIED AND PASTED FROM THE OWNER'S MANUAL. " WHEN YOU ARE HEADING INTO A NARROW PARKING SPACE OR GARAGE, PRESS THE "FOLD" BUTTON IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF THE SIDE MIRROR CONTROLS, JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. BOTH MIRRORS WILL FOLD IN TOWARD THE SIDE WINDOWS. TO PUT THEM BACK INTO DRIVING POSITION, PRESS THE BUTTON AGAIN." IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS FEATURE IS DANGEROUS. THE FEATURE SHOULD ONLY OPERATE AT AN EXTREMELY SLOW RATE OF TRAVEL. THIS FEATURE IS ONLY NEEDED IN TIGHT PARKING SPOTS AND SHOULD NOT ENGAGE AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED. THE OWNERS MANUAL EVEN STATES NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE MIRRORS FOLDED. BUT IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW THEY WERE ENGAGED, HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW TO RECTIFY IT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH? IT IS AN ACCIDENT AND A LAWSUIT JUST WAITING TO HAPPEN. THANK YOU. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

ON MY 2015 TOYOTA TUNDRA,THE LIGHT FROM THE RADIO DISPLAY IS SO BRIGHT AT NIGHT IT MAKES THIS TRUCK VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. WHEN IT RAINS AT NIGHT IT MAKES IT 10 TIMES MORE DANGEROUS. THIS TRUCK NEEDS A DIMMER SWITCH FOR THE BRIGHTNESS ON THE RADIO FOR NIGHT DRIVING. IF YOU WEAR GLASSES LIKE ME, THE LIGHT FROM THIS DISPLAY MAKE A GLARE. I HAVE TWO KIDS, ONE IS 15 MONTHS AND THE OTHER IS 3 YEARS. I DO NOT LIKE TO GO OUT AT NIGHT WITH THEM IN THE TRUCK DO TO THIS UNSAFE FEATURE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT !!!!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA TUNDRA EQUIPPED WITH BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/T 684 II TIRES, SIZE: P255/70/R18 (NA). WHILE HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WEAR ON THE TREADS OF THE TIRES(JUST THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE ONLY. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE OF THE TIRES AND THE VEHICLE WAS 30,000 MILES.
PAINT STARTED CHIPPING AFTER 3 MONTHS. THE TRUCK IS STARTING TO RUST NOW AT A 1 AND A HALF OLD. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER ABOUT THE CHIPPING. THEY DID NOTHING.
TOYOTA TUNDRA 2015 BRAKE ROTORS OVERHEATED AND DISTORTED UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ON FLAT CITY FREEWAYS AT 60MPH AND HIGHER. THIS RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I AM 74 YRS OLD AND HAVE EXPERIENCE DRIVING ALL SORTS AND BRANDS OF PICK-UP TRUCKS AND SUV'S AND HAVE NEVER EVERY EXPERIENCED THIS. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IS CLAIMING THIS IS NORMAL.
I PURCHASED THE INTERGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER AND HAD IT INSTALLED. THE CONTROLLER DOES NOT PROVIDE SIGNIFICANT BRAKING TO THE TRAILER. I HAVE SWITCHED BACK TO A AFTER MARKET CONTROLLER UNTIL TOYOTA COMES UP WITH A FIX.
I OWN A 2015 TUNDRA CREW CAB. THE FAMILY AND I LOVE TO CAMP, SO WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CAMPER. I HOOKED UP THE CAMPER TO THE TUNDRA UTILIZING THE 7 PIN CONNECTOR. THE DASH DISPLAY INDICATED THE INTEGRATED BRAKE CONTROL WAS WORKING AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL. TO MY DISMAY, THE BRAKE CONTROL DID NOT WORK TO SATISFACTION AND BORDER LINED A SAFETY ISSUE. WITH THE GAIN TURNED UP TO 10 ON ELECTRIC MODE, THE CAMPER'S BRAKES BARELY ENGAGED AND RARELY SLOWED DOWN MY TRUCK. THE CAMPER IS 7800 POUNDS. I HAVE BEEN READING FORUMS AND OTHER TUNDRA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR IBC....THERE IS NOT ENOUGH BRAKING POWER WITH TOYOTA'S FACTORY IBC. SEVERAL TIMES GOING DOWN HILL I DID NOT THINK THE ELECTRIC BRAKES WERE GOING TO SLOW TO STOP MY TRUCK! MY TUNDRA DID ALL THE BRAKING. I ALWAYS HAD MY FAMILY IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. IS THERE A RECENT SERVICE BULLETIN OR UPDATE TO THIS CONTROLLER???? AFTERMARKET CONTROLLERS WORK MUCH BETTER, BUT I WANT A CLEAN LOOK TO MY CAB. THANK YOU
BFGOODRICH RUGGED TERRAIN TIRES P275/55R20 ARE NOT SAFE. MY TIRES BEGAN TO SHOW SEPARATION AT TREAD LINE AT 10,000MILES TAKEN TO DEALER AND OFFERED 65%, DECLINED AND WENT TO TIRE STORE AND OFFERED 85%. I AM MONITORING TIRES CURRENTLY.
MY INTERGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER( PART # 89547-0C010) IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IT PROVIDES BRAKING TO MY TRAILER ONLY BY USING THE MANUAL SLIDE. WHEN BRAKING, I FEEL NO BRAKING THE TRAILER.
THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH THE REMOTE OR DOOR BUTTON. FIRST THE DRIVERS DOOR ACTED UP THEN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR NOW THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR IS DOING IT. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME
PARKING BRAKE BEGAN TO FAIL AT HOLDING MY TUNDRA STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY (WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY A 16% GRADE) AT 10,892 MILES. FIRST SERVICE COMPLAINT TOYOTA FOUND THE PARKING BRAKE TO BE OPERATIONAL BUT ADJUSTED IT. ON MY WAY HOME, THIS ADJUSTMENT CAUSED THE LEFT PARKING BRAKE SHOE TO HEAT UP AND STICK CAUSING A 'DEATH WOBBLE'. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. TOYOTA OF NWA WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE DURING A TEST DRIVE TO A ROAD OF EQUAL GRADE AS MY DRIVEWAY. PARKING BRAKE SHOES WERE REPLACED AND INSIDE OF ROTORS MACHINED. PARKING BRAKE OPERATED NORMALLY FOR ONLY A FEW WEEKS THEN BEGAN TO FAIL AGAIN. TOYOTA SENT A SPECIALIST TO EVALUATE THE FAILURE. AFTER SPENDING ONLY 2 HOURS INSPECTING AND TESTING ON A RAMP, DEALER STATED PARKING BRAKE OPERATING NORMALLY BUT ADJUSTED THE CABLE FROM 12-13 CLICKS TO 8-9 CLICKS. PARKING BRAKE BEGAN TO FAIL TWO DAYS LATER AND PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL TAKES 15 CLICKS TO THE FLOOR AND MY TUNDRA STILL ROLLS WHEN IN NEUTRAL WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. METAL POPPING AND CLANKING SOUNDS COMING FROM REAR END AFTER PARKING BRAKE IS ENGAGED, TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTED INTO 'PARK' AND VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. THE PARKING BRAKE FAILURE POSES A SAFETY RISK FOR SERIOUS INJURIES AND EVEN DEATH TO MY FAMILY AS MY HOUSE IS AT THE BOTTOM OF MY DRIVEWAY. DEMAND LETTER FOR REFUND SENT TO TOYOTA.
