Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2005-2011 4Runner, Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, 2005-2010 Avalon and Tundra, 2006-2008 Camry Solara, 2006-2010 Highlander hybrid, 2006-2011 Rav4 and Tacoma, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2007-2011 Camry hybrid, 2009-2010 Venza, 2010-2012 Prius, 1988-1990 and 2005-2010 Camry, and 1989 and 2009-2010 Corolla vehicles equipped with aftermarket accessory seat heaters with a copper strand heating element. The electrical wiring in the seat heaters may be damaged when the seat cushion is compressed.
Remedy: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the seat heaters, free of charge, and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory. The recall began on July 14, 2016. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. SET number for this recall is SET16B.

Toyota Motor Company (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Tundra, Sequoia, Corolla, Corolla Matrix and Scion xB, 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2007 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2006-2011 RAV4, 2006-2010 Yaris, and 2009-2010 Scion xD and Pontiac Vibe vehicles. During the manufacturing of the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS), grease lubricant may have been inconsistently applied to the sliding electrical contacts.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the switch, applying a lubricant if no abnormality is found. If abnormality is found, the PWMS circuit board will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 20, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. THESE VEHICLES WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY MODIFICATION LABELS WHICH FAILS TO CONFORM WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 110, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS."

At the dealer while servicing have asked to check the frame as there ben lots of concern from Tundra owners. I'm aware that early models have had frames replaced , perforation was found 7'' long by 3'' wide , vehicle was deemed NOT SAFE TO OPERATE . There is no action from Toyota on 2009's . Have called the Toyota brand rep to confirm and found that there is no action taken at this moment .There was no warning signs on dash as this is not part to be electronically monitored .This vehicle is well maintained and in its prime shape .Regularly washed with frame/chassis inhibitors (RASTEX) .Has only 146 K , for this model considering not broken in yet . I'm its original owner. Just spend a significant amount of $$$ on service and additional equipment, was looking for another 5 years +++ of use . Just purchased RAV 4 and COROLLA S hatchback for family members .TOYOTA is not offering to help at no coast . REPORTING A SAFETY ISSUE REGARDING THE ECM, WIRE HARNESS, AND A SENSOR ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION. IN PARTICULAR, A TRANSMISSION SENSOR FAILED AND ALLOWED A TRANSMISSION FLUID TO WICK ITS WAY THROUGH THE WIRE HARNESS AND INTO THE COMPUTER FOR THE TRUCK. IN THIS CASE, THIS CAUSED THE TRUCK'S STARTER TO ENGAGE WHEN THE LIGHTS FOR THE VEHICLE WERE TURNED ON, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THE TRUCK WAS ALREADY RUNNING. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP RUNNING, EVEN WHEN THE KEY WAS DISENGAGED FROM THE IGNITION. UPON ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THE DAYLIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE, THE TRUCK DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF MY STREET, JUST AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER HAVING THE TRUCK FOR A FEW DAYS, THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD GOTTEN INTO THE COMPUTER AND THAT THIS WAS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE FOR THE PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME THE COMPUTER, TURNED IT UPSIDE DOWN, AND I COULD SEE THE FLUID DRIPPING OUT. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WAS $3,855.95. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE, WHICH WAS DENIED CITING THE FACT THAT THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. TOYOTA DID NOT ISSUE A WRITTEN RESPONSE, AND I SIMPLY RECEIVED A PHONE CALL TO TELL ME THAT THE CLAIM WAS DENIED. I EXPLAINED THAT AN ISSUE SUCH AS THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT AND THIS FLUID COULD HAVE BEEN LEAKING INTO THE COMPUTER FOR YEARS. THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE DID NOT CARE ABOUT THIS FACT OR THE POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH FLUID GETTING INTO THE TRUCK'S COMPUTER. A FAULTY COMPUTER, DAMAGED BY TRANSMISSION FLUID COULD CAUSE A NUMBER OF SAFETY ISSUES. IN THE CASE OF MY TRUCK, IT WAS THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED. I HAD THE ACCELERATOR STICK TWO TIMES RECENTLY. MY TIRES SPUN VERY FAST AND I ALMOST TOOK OFF INTO A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE DURING A FIVE MILE TRIP TO WORK AND IS STILL ON. THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REVEALED A FAULT IN AN AIR VALVE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS PART BECAUSE OF A KNOWN ISSUE AFFECTING THE SAME YEAR/MAKE/MODEL AS MY TUNDRA. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK ABOUT THE REPAIR PROCESS AS I WAS WITHIN THE 10 YEAR/150K MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD. THEY STATED THE PART WAS REPLACED IN 2014. I WAS THEN DIRECTED TO CALL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THE PART WAS ALREADY REPLACED. I DO NOT HAVE FAITH THAT REPLACING THE PART WILL FIX MY TRUCK IN THE LONG RUN. TOYOTA OBVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED A FAULT WITH THEIR TRUCKS AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON A KNOWN BAD PART. BUT, THIS DID NOT FIX THE TRUCK. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS COME BACK AGAIN AFTER THE PART WAS REPLACED AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ONLY FOUR YEARS AGO. PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH 67 MILES ON IT, AT ABOUT 12,000 MILES IT STARTED TO MAKE A DRAGGING SOUND FROM THE FRONT DRIVE TRAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT HEAR OR FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. HAD IT BACK ANOTHER TIME FOR INSPECTION AND MENTIONED NOISE AGAIN BUT STILL THEY COULD NOT "HEAR ANYTHING". I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE TRUCK SINCE THEN WITH THE NOISE COMING AND SUBSIDING, THE TRUCK NOW HAS 46,000 MILES ON IT AND THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITH VIBRATIONS ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SEVEN YEAR WARRANTY RAN OUT AND I'M SURE THAT IF I TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY WILL NOW HEAR THE NOISE. I LOOKED AT ONLINE FORUMS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS, TOYOTA HAS TO KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2009 TOYOTA TUNDRA WITH THE 5.7L ENGINE AND 6 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION. INTERMITTENT SHIFTING OCCURS AS SLOW SPEEDS, WITH THE VEHICLE ACTING LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL. THIS HAS CAUSED SERIOUS CONCERN WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND COULD LEAD TO A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT. MY 2009 TOYOTA TUNDRA WAS REPAIRED BY TOYOTA THIS PAST FRIDAY AS A RESULT OF THE THROTTLE BODY STICKING OPEN..IE WOULD STALL. AFTER REPAIRS, THE TRUCK DROVE FINE FOR 2 HRS APPROX. AFTER STOPPING FOR SUPPER (1HR) I STARTED MY TRUCK AGAIN...THIS TIME THE ENGINE ACCELERATED IN PARK UPTO 5,000 + RPMS FOR 10-15SECS AND THEN DOWN TO 500 RMPS...THEN REPEATED THIS OVER AND OVER. I WAITED TIL THE RPMS DROPPED TO 500 AND PLACED TRUCK IN GEAR TO TRY TO GET IT HOME. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED AND TOOK OFF ON ITS OWN...ALMOST TAKING ME THROUGH A RED LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO PRESS HARD ENOUGH ON THE BRAKES TO STOP IN TIME....THEN IT TOOK OFF AGAIN FOR ANOTHER BLOCK WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING BUT RIDING THE BRAKES. I TURNED INTO A RANDALLS PARKING LOT WHEN RPMS DROPPED TO 500 AGAIN,...DODGING PEOPLE WHO WERE WALKING INTO THE GROCERY STORE. WHEN IT DROPPED AGAIN, I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AND PUT TRUCK INTO PARK. THIS, ALL WHILE THE ENGINE WAS CONSISTENTLY CHANGING FROM 500RPMS UPTO 5,000+ RPMS WITH NO INTERRUPTION'S CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, STILL SHAKING, BUT ONLY ONE PERSON WAS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP...HE ADVISED SINCE THEY WERE CLOSED THAT ANOTHER DEALER WAS OPEN LATER. SO I HAD TRUCK TOWED THERE. MY ORIGINAL REPAIR, THEY WOULD NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY (13,000 MILES ON TRUCK) BECAUSE THEY SAID I HAD VIOLATED THE WARRANTY BY INSTALLING A FUEL SAVING DEVICE, WHICH HAD DAMAGED THE THROTTLE BODY. 2009 TOYOTA TUNDRA, 5 MOS AFTER PURCHASE(5-16-09),MY DRIVE SHAFT REPLACED, WHILE DRIVING WILL NOT CHANGE GEARS WILL ACCELERATE BY ITSELF AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON WHICH IS CAUSED THE ODOMETER TO READ INCORRECTLY,(READING 44,000 MILES) & USE EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL . SEVERAL FLUID LEAKS, MUFFLER REPLACED, TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT PROPERLY WHEN ACCELERATING & WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IT TAKE TIME BEFORE IS SHIFT INTO STOP, & ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, TICKING NOISE & VIBRATION IN THE MOTOR. THESE HAVE CODES COMING UP. MY TRUCK NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THIS IS CAUSING MORE PROBLEMS FOR THE FUTURE. ONE PROBLEM LEADS TO ANOTHER. I WAS TOLD BY RON CARTER TOYOTA THAT I AM BEING UNREASONABLE FOR WANTING MY TRUCK FIXED RIGHT & NOT TO BRING IT BACK TO THERE DEALER OR THEY WILL CALL THE POLICE ON ME FOR WANTING MY VEHICLE REPLACED BECAUSE I KNOW I HAVE BEEN DECEIVED & SOLDED A LEMON. I WAS TOLD BY THE FORMER SERVICE MANAGER (NOW FIRED) BILL CRICHTON THAT I COULD LOOK ON THE TOYOTA WEB SITE & LOOK FOR THE TSB (TOYOTA SERVICE BULLETIN) TO FIND THE INFO ABOUT TUNDRA'S , I HAVE NOT FOUND THAT INFO YET.
