The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a red traffic light, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence and remained at the residence for further investigation. In addition, a local independent mechanic was contacted, and the contact was informed that the failure was possibly related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V254000 (Power Train). The local dealer was contacted; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 174,000.
I took my truck to the dealership of Toyota in Riverside, CA and the staff there told me there was no recall for my vehicle. Can you please verify if my vehicle is under warranty? I also went to the smog inspection and told them about my situation and they said my vehicle may not be under recall since sometimes certain vehicles under the same year are grouped together with a specific recall.
Paint prematurely chipping in areas that’s would and would not be affected by wind down to bare metal.
Extensive rust and rot of entire frame, and undercarriage. The truck bed unsafe to walk on has several soft spots almost broken through, gas tank holder rusted out- worry about gas tank dropping from frame, tow hitch and rear bumper rot etc. Side step fell off. Toyota has a Service Campaign and Warranty Enhancement Program for Tundra but not this year- built 9/2010 San Antonio but listed as 2011 model on VIN. I am original registered owner and have never been contacted about this factory failure use of inferior untreated frame materials but learned about it from internet research. Would like my vehicle covered under current Service Campaign.
The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving 40-50 MPH downhill, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact stated that upon inspecting the vehicle, there was an oil leak on the passenger's side of the steering gear onto the ground. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the destination without power steering functionality. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the steering rack replacement could not be covered under warranty due the part number. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21E103000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.
Rack and pinion is leaking oil.
The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that upon loading the bed of the truck, a worker stepped on the bed and his foot went through the bed. There was no injury sustained. The contact then noticed that there were four 3-inch holes located near the bed bolts of the vehicle due to corrosion. Additionally, the contact stated that the frame was corroded. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: [XXX]. The contact stated that he was an independent mechanic and had determined that the failure occurred because there was no underbody coating on the vehicle, which caused water to be trapped on the underbody. The local dealer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. Another dealer, Oakbrook Toyota (550 E Ogden Ave, Westmont, IL 60559), was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 219,000.
Horn stopped working right after I bought this truck from a dealer. I did some research on why it stopped. I was told and also read that it was the air bag clock spring. This controls the air bags and horn and other components. What it is the clock spring was installed by Toyota that had a bad spot on it. This causes the wiring harness to start rubbing and cutting into the wires. Would cause the horn to stop working and the air bags not to work and other things that is wired to this harness also. This should be a safety concern, and Toyota needs to recall to fix. Read that the 2011 Toyota's was bad for doing this. Costing the customer about $800.00 to fix. I have the truck about 3 months. Might be the reason it was traded in. Works some times and doesn't work. I am worried the air bags will deploy if not fixed. Please check into this. I would like to know what you find out before I spend the money to get it fixed On Social Security and don't have that much money in hand to have fixed.

I did van limited inspection at the lot and a test drive.. found nothing that stuck out.. other than the radio not working but the dealership said he would reimburse me if I got it fixed..so after that a down payment was made of $5550 dollars and paperwork was signed.. I drove the truck home and the next week I got in it and it wouldn't start, turns out it needed a battery and alternator, so I took it to a shop and was told that this vehicle was badly rusted and had a lot of hidden rust damage.. and improperly installed brakes., coolant leaks and exhaust leaks.. after finding this out I tried to call the dealership and he hasn't been replying.. I was also told this truck wouldn't pass a legal VA inspection.. so the current one was fraudulent I have all documents that support my case. I will like to turn this vehicle back in and given a full refund

Engine light, 4Lo light, and ASC light on with code P2442. Vehicle in limp mode.
The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to his residence using physical force to steer the vehicle. An independent mechanic met the contact at his residence and diagnosed that the power steering gear was leaking oil into the boot. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21E103000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.
1. The secondary air injection valve and/or air injection pump. 2. Sometimes the vehicle will go into "limp" mode and only go 35 mph. If the switch valve is stuck "closed" like mine, the car may not be able to dilute the exhaust fumes and the fumes and travel into the cabin of the vehicle. 3. Yes, check engine light code was read as P2441. 4. No, the vehicle can not be driven at this time. 5. No, and around July 24th the check engine light came on. The symptoms continued to get worse. In short, Toyota has issued extended warranties and reimbursements for this design flaw for Tunda's 2007-2010. The design flaw being the air pumps allow water and debris to be sent into the air injection valves. My truck being a 2011 was never alerted to this issue or covered due to the year of my vehicle. The issue is my truck is the SAME generation truck as the 2007-2010 trucks. Which means I too have the design flaw as well but Toyota is refusing to fix their mistakes. After further inspection of my truck, see attached pictures, there is obvious water in the valve system and it has been rusted as well (unable to clean it). My issue is Toyota only covering half of the generational years for a design flaw that is also in the other half. These repairs can range from $2k-$4k and it seems as Toyota only made the extension to the most relevant truck years at the time and left everyone else behind. It is very distributing that a large manufacturer would cut corners like this, for a flaw that was their design.
The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while a routine inspection was being performed on the vehicle, he was informed that engine oil was found on the heat shield. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the passenger’s side cam-tower was leaking oil and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while driving approximately 55-70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle started losing power. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle and was able to continue driving. Additionally, the contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, there was a delay in the vehicle response. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle shifted into LIMP mode. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys who provided diagnostic test codes to the contact but did not physically diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact they could not assist as the vehicle had not been diagnosed by the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

I have reached out to Toyota multiple times this month. I have severe rust developing und the bed of my truck where the bed bolts fasten the bed to the frame. After some research I have found where other tundra owners with the same year have similar issues. My fear is over time the bed is going to be unsecured from the chassis. Rust is bubbling the line-x up. I have never seen anything like this before. Toyota refuses to accept responsibility that they have a parts/material/metal issue for this year truck.
The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the steering wheel was difficult to turn with an unknown warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact noticed that the power steering fluid was leaking out on the passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, a power steering fluid leak recurred. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic to be diagnosed; however, the contact was unaware of the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

Vehicle Frame rusting extensively. Vehicle could possibly fall apart. Local gas station diagnosed it per inspection.
Horn siren is not being activated when pressed by center switch on steering wheel. After researching many tundra message boards, this appears to be a frequent problem amongst tundra owners. Incident: vehicle in front of me at drivethru backed into me when they thought they were in drive after repositioning themselves for mic. I was not able to beep my horn and warn them. Luckily no damage occurred.

Well known issue with V8 Air intake pump and assembly causes truck to go into limp mode. Very dangerous in Atlanta traffic. Toyota enhanced warranty but did not recall. My repair was $3000 as I was 3 weeks out of warranty.

AT ABOUT 2,000 MILES AGO THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SHAKING AND RUMBLING MAINLY WHEN IT WAS IN 5TH GEAR. THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING BAD AND WILL NEED REPLACED FOR $3,000. THE TRUCK ONLY HAVE 90K ON IT, AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. AT JUST OVER 90K ON THE TRUCK THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT ALREADY BE GOING OUT. *TR

LIKE MANY OTHERS ON HERE, MY TRUCK BED AND STRUCTURE HAS RUSTED OVER CERTAIN SUPPORTS FROM THE BOTTOM UP. MY VEHICLE HAS HAD A TOPPER SINCE IT WAS NEW, AND IT HAS NOW DEVELOPED HEAVY RUST UNDER THE PAINT IN THE FRONT CORNERS OVER A BRACE. THERE ARE MANY FORUM ENTRIES AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR

THE LENS COVER ON VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT CLEAR AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF USE, THEY ARE BECOMING FOGGED OVER BECAUSE THEY ARE MADE OUT OF PLASTIC AND THE SAND FROM OTHER VEHICLES GOING DOWN THE ROAD SANDBLAST THEM. THIS CAUSES THE HEADLIGHT TO NOT PROJECT THE LIGHT DOWN THE ROAD CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO OUT DRIVE THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS CAN CAUSE VEHICLE ACCIDENTS AND PEDESTRIAN INVOLVED ACCIDENTS. THEY USED TO BE MADE FROM GLASS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS BEING ADDRESSED. THANK YOU.
