EQUIPMENT
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. The Cummins 6.7L Turbocharger Actuator has failed at 17,809 Miles on this vehicle. Mopar has extended the warranty on this item for 10 years/180,000 miles under Warranty extension 09-001-22 Rev A. They have also extended the warranty on the Ram 2500 & 3500 series vehicles with the same engine and same turbocharger actuator to 15 years/150,000 miles under Warranty extension 09-005-22 Rev. A. The failure of this turbo actuator immediately places this vehicle in "limp" mode, causing an abrupt reduction in speed and hindering its ability to get out of traffic. This vehicle being an emergency response Fire Truck poses an additional risk to the community since it is unable to respond to an emergency. Mopar is telling me that the warranty extension has expired on this item. The manufacture needs to recall these known to fail turbo actuators or at a minimum extend the warranty from 10 to 15 years.

Took the truck to the ram dealership to get the recall for the rear wheel studs replaced they did the job a few days later the wheel almost came off on the freeway. The mechanic didn’t tighten the lug nuts we caught it just in time before something bad happened. That was 12/11/2023. We took it back to the dealership and they supposedly fixed it.exactly a month later and only 1500 miles on the freeway the wheels came off on the same side the studs were replaced. Tires flew off at 65mph and it hit 2 semi trucks luckily no small cars. Or it would have been tragic

MAY 30, 2017 MY 2014 RAM 5500 DIESEL DUMP TRUCK HAD A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE/MELTING FROM THE FIRE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN APRIL OF 2015 AND IT WAS 'JUST OUT OF WARRANTY" AT JUST OVER 37,000 MILES ON IT. THE SOURCE OF THE DAMAGE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE DENSO INTERNATIONAL ALTERNATOR. FCA SENT A FIELD INSPECTOR TO THE SERVICE CENTER WHERE THE TRUCK WAS TOWED, AND MY VEHICLE INSURANCE COMPANY ALSO SENT AN INSPECTOR THERE. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WILL COVER MOST OF THE DAMAGES BUT NOT THE ALTERNATOR NOR THE LABOR FOR THE ALTERNATOR AS FCA KNEW OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT THAT PART WAS DEFECTIVE AS RAM HAS RECALLED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF ALTERNATORS DUE TO SAFETY FIRE HAZARD BUT THEN CONTINUE TO USE THE SAME MANUFACTURER'S DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS IN THEIR VEHICLES. FCA SENT A LETTER REFUSING TO GIVE GOOD WILL AUTHORIZATION, AS WAS PROMISED BY THE CHRYSLER DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM, TO COVER THE DAMAGE AND REPAIRS "BECAUSE IT'S OUT OF ALTERNATOR WARRANTY" - THEY KNEW THAT BEFORE THEY TOWED IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER. THE FEDERAL MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY ACT STATES THAT CONSUMERS HAVE AN IMPLIED WARRANTY BEYOND THE LIMITED WARRANTY FROM MANUFACTURERS. CONSUMERS PURCHASE NEW VEHICLES IN GOOD FAITH THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO START ON FIRE DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE FACT THAT THE SAME PART, THE ALTERNATOR, HAS HAD ABOUT 900,000 RECALLS IN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS SHOWS ME THAT THEY KNEW OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT CONTINUING TO USE THE DENSO INTERNATIONAL ALTERNATORS IS A FIRE SAFETY HAZARD AND MY TRUCK SHOULD BE PART OF A RECALL SINCE IT STARTED ON FIRE ORIGINATING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. CONSUMERS DESERVE BETTER! THE VEHICLE HAS A SMELL BUT NO SENSORS CAME ON, THE POWER STEERING STARTED TO ACT UP WHILE DRIVING, I PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. PUT OUT THE FIRE AND PULLED THE ALTERNATOR TO GET THE PART NUMBER TO GIVE TO AUTO PLACE.
