Following an engine replacement performed at Billion Auto Kia in Rapid City, SD, I began experiencing persistent electrical system failures in my 2017 Kia Sorento. The vehicle alarm would activate randomly without cause, including while I was inside the vehicle with the engine running. Additionally,
... the door locks would engage spontaneously, trapping me inside the vehicle and preventing me from exiting. The only way to exit was to forcibly pull the door handle, which triggered the alarm. I have video documentation of these incidents. I presented the vehicle to Billion Auto Kia in Rapid City, SD — an authorized Kia dealership with these exact symptoms. The service department was unable to identify a root cause and provided no repair path, returning the vehicle to me unrepaired. 7 months later, Courtesy Kia of Brandon in Brandon, FL, another authorized Kia dealership diagnosed the root cause as a failed Body Control Module (BCM). During the service visit, a Kia dealership technician personally witnessed the alarm activating spontaneously while operating the vehicle, further confirming the defect. The BCM failure was present and active at the time of the prior authorized dealer visit and was not detected. The failed BCM has also caused the gear shifter to become completely stuck, unable to shift out of Park, leaving the vehicle fully inoperable. This vehicle has had 6 recall actions performed since purchase — 4 completed after my purchase in August 2023, and two completed prior to my purchase. Despite this recall history, the vehicle has experienced an engine failure and a BCM failure within less than 3 years of my ownership. Being trapped inside a vehicle with a malfunctioning lock system represents a serious safety hazard, particularly in the event of an accident or emergency requiring rapid exit. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether a safety defect exists in the Body Control Module of 2017 Kia Sorento vehicles and whether additional recall action is warranted.Read more

The vehicle failed to shift back into Drive after being placed in Park, rendering it inoperable. As a result, the vehicle had to be pushed out of a busy driveway and towed to a local repair shop. The local repair shop was unable to diagnose or repair the issue because the required diagnostic equipm
... ent is specific to Ford vehicles and was not available to them. The shop advised that the transmission may have failed. After researching the issue, transmission failure has been reported as a known concern affecting early-model Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. Because the local shop could not complete the repair, the vehicle had to be towed a second time to the nearest Ford dealership. The Ford dealership confirmed a transmission failure and determined that the transmission required replacement. The dealership replaced the transmission at a total cost of $10,971.48. At the time of failure, the vehicle had fewer than 75,000 miles on the odometer. Given the relatively low mileage and the significant cost of repair, a complete transmission failure under normal operating conditions raises serious concerns regarding the reliability and durability of this component. The Ford dealership's description of the diagnosis, repairs performed, and parts replaced is provided below. 7000: *TRANSMISSION REPAIRS TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSIS (NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY, LEAKS, OTHER) - C/S: TRANS SEEMS TO NO GO INTO GEARS, WAS AT ANOTHER SHOP WHO COULD NOT REPAIR, ADVISE ON NEEDED REPAIRS PLEASE WENT FOR TEST DRIVE - VERIFIED CONCERN. I was driving down the road and when i tried to hit the throttle to speed up a little suddenly the car just started misfiring randomly with zero warning beforehand. I tried to hit the throttle a couple more times but it kept misfiring and then the engine light, tpms light, traction control light and
... a couple other lights all lit up and i immediately had to pull over to the side of the road because it was extremely dangerous. i will also add that i had just got off the freeway maybe two minutes prior and it would've been a completely different story if that had happen then. I have an OBD scanner in my car and i immediately pulled it out to check what the codes were which it was a single code all around P0087. The high pressure fuel pump had completely died in the middle of me driving and was not even allowing a test when i took it in for a diagnostic. i replaced the high pressure fuel pump and it completely resolved the car issues and the codes went away immediately. i still have the faulty pump in my possession to. be inspected by someone if needed. the only reason a crash or something extremely tragic didn't happen is because it was later at night and the cars behind me happen to be a decent enough distance for me to be able to get over to put my car in a safer position to not obstruct the road and get a tow truck to assist me.Read more

My 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L has had sporadic errors happen: Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Blind Spot Info System Problem. These errors have shown up before sporadically and the dealer, DCH H
... onda of Oxnard was notified April 27, 2023. They could not replicate and did not respond in writing that something was wrong. The errors went away on their own. 3 weeks ago, the errors showed up again, this time also including a transmission system problem warning. The car was taken to Honda in Valencia and they ran a diagnostic and recommended the transmission be replaced or they would give us $2500 for the car. We opted to have a well reputed private transmission mechanic replace the transmission. After doing so the errors are still there. The transmission system problem error even showed up sporadically the very same day we picked the car up. There is no rhyme or reason to these errors other than perhaps a faulty windshield camera, which takes 5 minutes to replace but Honda wants to charge $2k. We also experienced the delayed shifting due to the poor 9 speed transmission and vcm design. It was quite scary to have a car full of children making a left turn on a busy road and not have the car kick into gear but rather slip. Installing a vcm tuner to bypass the computer shifting helped as well as not driving the car in Econ. Honda knows they made a bad car and while Honda Pilots and other models have had recalls related to the transmission, I am atill waiting for NHTSA to take action and include my lemon Odyssey as well. Replacing the transmission cost me over $7k and it may not have been necessary in the end if in fact these errors were related to the camera.Read more
