Vehicle: 2018 Audi Q5 Prestige Mileage: Approximately 34,000 miles On December 14, 2024, while driving at normal road speeds, my vehicle suddenly lost power and displayed multiple warning messages, including drivetrain and system malfunction alerts. The vehicle became unstable and unsafe to operate
... while I was in traffic, forcing me to carefully maneuver off the roadway. This occurred without any prior warning or abnormal engine behavior, it was just so sudden. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Audi dealership the following day. After inspection, the dealership diagnosed a catastrophic internal engine failure, identifying a cracked/chipped valve in cylinder 3. The dealership technicians and service staff stated that this type of failure is extremely rare on a vehicle with such low mileage and normal maintenance history. They also indicated that they had not encountered this type of valve failure on a similarly maintained Audi vehicle at this mileage. There was no evidence of carbon buildup or abuse, and no external contributing factors were identified. The failure resulted in sudden engine malfunction and loss of drivability while the vehicle was in motion, creating a significant safety risk. The dealership recommended replacing the engine cylinder head, with an estimated repair cost approximately $9,100. The dealership could not confirm whether debris from the damaged valve remained in the engine or whether the repair would fully mitigate future safety risks. I am submitting this complaint due to concerns that this failure represents a potential manufacturing or materials defect that can lead to sudden engine malfunction or loss of power while driving, posing a safety hazard to vehicle occupants and other road users.Read more

I purchased my NEW 2024 Versa S 5 speed on [XXX] from Jim Click Nissan Dealership in Tucson, AZ. I brought it in to Nissan dealership 2 months later [XXX], 4200 mi, for complaints of surging, fluctuating fan speeds with air conditioning on high. They claim they couldn’t reproduce problem. It co
... ntinues to persist to this day as I write this on 4/20/25. I checked the alternator myself with multimeter on 4/12/25 & it revealed ACV ripple of 29-30 volts! Battery at rest 12.7 dcv, battery at idle 13.8 dcv, battery 13.9 dcv under load, and repeatedly producing same values on morning of [XXX], just minutes before bringing car in to Jim Click service appointment for follow up of fan fluctuations & request for alternator check up. However these data results conflict with Jim Click Nissan Dealership diagnosis on 4/18/25 service visit when they stated and documented that the charging system tests all passed & alternator is fine, and witnessed no a/c fan fluctuation. Thus no repairs done, and sent me on my way. As soon as I drove off the dealership lot on that [XXX] evening, the car lost power and went into limp mode as I accelerated out of the parking lot, and continued through 4 miles of local street traffic until I arrived home and shut off engine. After a few minutes I restarted engine so that I could video record same limp mode issue but the problem was not evident after this engine restart. This was the first episode ever experienced and it occurred at approximately 21,720 miles, and recurred again the following day after stalling from early clutch pedal release, followed by engine restart. The episodes happen on both flat surface and slight incline. The faulty alternator must have a part in this, as surging alternating current is causing sensor malfunctioning affecting a/c fan speed and ECU communication. Autozone alternator test on 4/19/25 revealed “charging system failure.” INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I have been getting regular mailings from Fiat Chrysler warning about the safety danger regarding the High pressure fuel pump for almost 2 years now. When I contact the dealer I am assured they will fix it when the fuel pump "grenades", but as long as the truck is running I shouldn't expect anything
... to be done. I have no fewer than three notices for the fuel pump and at least two for the "loss of crankshaft position" with no indications that anything will be done soon. Doing the math it looks like I can expect to be driving a safety hazard around for at least another 3-4 years and trying to sell it, like this, is unlikely. It may be a voluntary recall but it is a reflection of involuntary repairs and the fact I continue to get notices from Fiat Chrysler about how important this is shows that they are only going through the motions of safety and customer service.Read more
