Engine lag and performance drops while driving vehicle. Vehicle was taken to the dealership and remained at dealership for five days. Employee was given permission to drive the vehicle to experience the issue. Issue was confirmed by dealership, but they stated it's one of three issues and they would have to repair all three issues at my cost to figure out what's causing the engine lag.
Water leak at the rear window leading to mold growth. Continues to leak after repaired twice by dealership.
I tried to honk the horn when a car started to come into my lane and discovered that it was not working. I took it to the dealership, and they said it needed a new steering wheel as the contacts that operate the horn were faulty. they told me that the steering wheel airbag would not be operational due to this problem until it was fixed. This is a 2022 pickup with only 10,000 miles on it. I’ve never had to use the Horn before I, so to discover that the issue is pretty serious was disconcerting, and of course my 36 month bumper-to-bumper is used up. This vehicle is basically brand-new, and there should be a recall on this vehicle.

MY TRUCK IS EXPIERANCING THE SYMPTOMS OF RECALL # N242454440 TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY, ITS SHUTTERING BETWEEN SHIFTS AND CLUNKING IM AFRAID OF THE REAR WHEELS LOCKING UP FROM THE HORROR STORIES I HAVE READ THE TRUCK IS AT COULTER GMC NOW FOR EXACT DIAG BUT FROM EVERYTHING I HAVE READ THIS IS COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS RECALL THAT MY VIN DOES NOT FALL UNDER FOR SOME REASON
While driving on the interstate we were exiting to pull into a rest area while slowing down the rear wheels momentarily locked up and the truck downshifted hard and abruptly with that happening the check engine light came on along with a decreased power message. We pulled into a parking spot during so we tried to shift into reverse and it didn’t want to shift into reverse, we tried this for a while. We finally got it into reverse and we were able to back out of the parking spot. When we tried shifting to drive we encountered the same issue. The vehicle did not want to go into drive. Once finally into drive it did not want to shift into any higher gears. It was essentially stuck in one of the gears. We made it to a GMC dealer on the next exit -we drove on the side of the interstate to get there- when we arrived we had them run the codes and they told us it was a transmission control valve which GMC has had a major recall on. While we had this “fixed” at a different dealership previously in march of 2025 it only entailed “updating the software” involving the transmission control valve. We had to leave the truck at the GMC dealer that we were able to ‘limp’ to in Crestview FL. We’ve been told our truck now needs an entirely new transmission that is going to cost $7,000. We had a similar issue right after the “software update for the transmission control valve” on march 20, 2025. The software was updated roughly a week before that incident which seemed to have cleared itself because it was momentarily and never happened again until now. Our safety was at risk because we had to drive on the side of the interstate to get to a shop because we were out of town and a tow truck was going to cost between 600-1000 dollars to get home.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 3500. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the message “Trailer Brake Disconnected" was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact was hauling a 5th-wheel trailer during the failure. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle, and waited for several minutes before restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. Most recently, while driving 55 MPH, the message "Trailer Brake Disconnected" was displayed. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle, and waited before restarting the vehicle and continuing driving. The contact stated that before the most recent failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the trailer plug was replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired after the most recent failure. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V758000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The coolant sensor was faulty and required a replacement coolant reservoir. No cause for this provided other than it went bad.
The tire Goodyear LT275/65R20 are the original tires on the truck when purchased. The tires have been rotated and balanced at the dealership routinely, approximately 42,000 miles on the set. On [XXX], I was travelling [XXX] here in NC when I felt a bump as if I had hit something in the road. I pulled off to the shoulder to inspect for damage or a flat tire. The left rear tire had completely lost its tread, only the steel belts were showing. Thus caused significant damage to the fender and tailgate of the truck. The tire remained inflated. Another driver pulled over in front of me and stated that the separated part had damaged his car. The NC State patrol was called and a report made for insurance. No one was injured to my knowledge. I changed the tire and was able to complete my trip. This could have caused a serious problem with a very serious accident. Fortunately, no one was injured. There were no warning that this might happen. I have sent pictures of the damage to my truck to the insurance company. This makes me very uneasy about these tires, I may need to purchase an entirely new set of tires from another manufacturer. I am not sure Goodyear is a decent brand of tire. The police report number is [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

• What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The issue appears to be with the gear shifter assembly and/or park position sensor within the power train system. The vehicle fails to detect that it is in “Park,” even when the gear lever is physically in the Park position. Yes, the vehicle and component are available for inspection upon request. ⸻ • How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This malfunction prevents the vehicle from shutting off properly and displays a “Shift to Park” message even when parked. This creates a risk of the vehicle rolling away if the parking brake is not engaged and prevents secure shutdown, potentially draining the battery or creating confusion in an emergency. It compromises both driver and public safety. ⸻ • Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the issue was reproduced and acknowledged by a certified GMC dealership service department. They noted it is a known issue affecting other GM vehicles but stated there is no open recall or warranty extension currently available for my specific model. ⸻ • Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has only been inspected by a GMC-certified dealership. No inspection has been conducted by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives at this time. ⸻ • Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, a “Shift to Park” message appears on the dash even when the shifter is correctly placed in the Park position. This message began appearing intermittently and has now become a consistent issue over the past few weeks.

LT275/65R20. We were traveling about 74 mph on Hwy 90 going westbound, when suddenly we heard an explosion and noticed pieces of the passenger rear tires coming apart. It was about 90 degrees when we were on the road, and I had checked the tire pressure earlier that day, and it was at the recommended tire pressure. At no point during our trip was there a low-pressure warning or we did not hit any object on the road. We would have had a severe accident if the tire had been on the front. The tread seems to have separated from the tire, causing major damage to the truck bed. The tire was manufactured in week 20 of 2022, and it still had a good amount of tread remaining. I do have front and rear dashcam footage available.
The GM N242454440 “collision Rear Wheel Lock Up from Transmission Valve Failure” was performed. The recall rendered the electrical charging system inoperable. GM engineering has been working on the vehicle for more than one month and recently determined that the recall software does not work properly with all vehicles. My truck is being returned to me without the recall being performed. Accordingly the safety hazard associated with rear wheel lockup has not been addressed and cannot be addressed at this time. Presumably GM will develop software in the future to address the safety condition. Meanwhile the safety hazard remains unaddressed for my vehicle and an unknown number others. The transmission failed which stemmed from the faulty (recently recalled valve body). General Motors has been contacted and there is no transmission in sight and is not able to provide an ETA. They are also not willing to cover the catastrophic failure because I am outside of my warranty terms. The dealership has inspected and concluded a whole new transmission is recommended. The vehicle has been in their possible for nearly one (1) month.

When towing our 5th wheel RV we started getting messages on the computer that the trailer brakes were not working due to an issue with the brake controller. Trailer brakes would come and go. The only time we got notification was when towing. Only 20 minutes after getting the first notification we were involved in an accident due to the trailer brakes not working. We thoroughly had the trailer brakes and plugs checked and they are not the problem .

Encountering trailer brake issue where the brakes on our 5th wheel do not activate via the GMC Trailer Brake control module. Have just had it replaced and still experiencing the same issue where it posts an alert on the screen multiple times and does not activate brakes on trailer. This is a widely known issue with GMC trucks and the trailer brake that has been outstanding for over 3 years now and is a safety issue as there doesn't appear to be a fix from any dealerships or GMC. GMC has not taking adequate accountability for this issue. I'm looking at putting together a class action lawsuit with several other customers having the same issue. We are fed up with the inaction and falsely advertised towing package as we are unable to safely tow anything with their trucks.

While driving the truck began switching between towing, normal, and off-road driving modes. Lights were flickering and various messages were being displayed on the dash cluster screen. After parking truck and shutting it off all of the lights were flickering and I was unable to start the truck. Charging the batteries did nothing nor was I able to jumpstart the truck with another diesel. After repairs for these issues, at some point the odometer reset and while likely not certain it reset to zero. GM has no way of knowing when it reset and how many miles were driven between leaving the dealership and the reset leaving me with a truck set to the best guess mileage. I am being told this was a software bug and having experienced another software bug when I had the recall to enable seat warmers where the keyfobs would not work in any way I have serious concerns about the quality and safety of the software on these trucks.

I purchased 2022 GMC Sierra HD last year. Due to Micro Chip shortages at the time GMC provided custo.ers a $50.00 credit and notice that they provide the chips ASAP and that it should be provided by December 2022. I like many others accepted the risk for not having parking assist sensors and other features for this period of time. I contacted GMC last month after speaking with my dealer and was told by GMC customer service that GMC has instead adopted an approach of providing Chips to new vehicles while they work on getting chips for those vehicles already sold. No where in the agreements that customers signed did it acknowledge that we would be prioritized by GMC in order for them to make new vehicle sales over the increased safety risks. I drive a GMC HD (3500) which has significant blind spots and Increased safety risks to pedestrians as a result of no warning detection systems during parking in lots and on streets. I would like to have this risk mitigated by having GMC honor the agreements and commitments to its customers by providing the Micro Chips required to fulfill these safety requirements ahead of new sales, so no injuries or loss of life are sustained as a result of this profit over safety stance that GMC has adopted. I would like the NHTSA to assist consumers in addressing this safety issue.

Bought. New 2022 GMC HD 3500 last year and signed form from GMC saying front and rear parking sensors were delayed until December 2023, related to supply chain issues. I have continually tried to get a status of the needed micro chips and now have been told today that GMC has no status as they are focusing on the new vehicles so they can continue to sell vehicles and make profits. GMC knows this is an on going safety issue but continues to ignore vehicles already sold.
On July 27, 2022 I was driving my 2022 GMC truck on the freeway. I was rear ended by a semi truck and the passenger side was side swiped by the semi. I was driving the truck with my wife and two kids as passengers. The truck was completely totaled. No airbags deployed and the seat belts did not restrain us. All 4 of us were wearing seat belts. Also, the drivers seat completely broke, it looked like it had been completely reclined to a laying position. A police report was made. All 4 of us were taken by ambulance to the hospital. All 4 of us needed medical care. The truck was totaled and towed, the insurance has since taken possession of the truck. There were no warning lights, service lights or any indication that there was anything faulty with the truck. We had just purchased it in February 2022. My safety, as well as the safety of others was put at risk. The semi truck driver stated he was driving 60mph. If this isn't enough for air bags to deploy, I don't know what is. The seat belts also failed to restrain us. The seat belts were completely loose and during the accident failed to secure us. Again, the drivers entire seat completely broke causing severe head, neck and back injuries.

While driving on the highway at night during mixed precipitation/icy conditions I noticed I was loosing visibility. I had to pull over on the highway to see if my headlights were on. I discovered they were completely covered in 1.5-2in of ice. The entire front grill of the truck was covered in ice. I had to chip off the ice on the headlights so I could see. I had to pull over three times during my 2hr drive to scrape the lights just so I could see! The headlights on the 22 model have shape, not straight or a smooth curve like prior models, which is part of the problem. Although, it was strange how the entire grill was covered in ice. I have always owned GMC or Chevy trucks and have never had anything like this happen. I wish I took a picture to send in but I didn't think of that in the moment. This is absolutely a safety hazard. I hope in the near future there will be a recall to have this issue addressed.
