CERTAIN REPLACEMENT FUEL FILTERS, FRAM BRAND NAME P/N G3727, WITH DATE CODES X52911 THROUGH X60801 SEQUENTIALLY OR X600141 AND A MEXICO COUNTRY OR ORIGIN MARKING ON THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 18, 2005, THROUGH MARCH 21, 2006, SOLD FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE AND ON CERTAIN SCHOOL BUSES. (TO SEE THE SCHOOL BUS ENGINE SIZES, CLICK ON "DOCUMENT SEARCH" AND THEN "BUS APPLICATIONS"). THE CONNECTOR ON THE FUEL FILTER WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO HONEYWELL'S SPECIFICATION. AS A RESULT, THE O-RING MAY NOT SEAT CORRECTLY ON THE FUEL LINE.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 18, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-890-2075 (OPTION 1).

THE TRUCK HAS LOW MILEAGE FOR IT'S AGE BUT IT 3 TIMES STARTING IN 2005 IT HAS CAUGHT FIRE IN AND AROUND THE BATTERY/ALTERNATOR. I'VE GIVEN GMC MULTIPLE TIMES TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AT FIRST AND IT HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY THE OTHER DAY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE INJECTION PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO YEARS LATER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INJECTION PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.

THREE WEEKS AGO NOTICED LOW BRAKE FLUID. FILLED RESERVOIR AND DIDN'T SEE AND LEAKS. YESTERDAY I WAS IN TOWN SHOPPING AND WHEN I CAME OUT OF STORE AND LEAVING BRAKE PEDDLE WENT TO FLOOR WHEN I TRIED TO STOP HAD ENOUGH BRAKE TO STOP BEFORE HITTING CAR IN FRONT OF ME. BOUGHT A QUART OF FLUID AND REFILLED TANK AND CAUTIOUSLY MADE IT THE 25 MILES HOME AFTER REFILLING TWICE. LOOKED UNDER TRUCK AND SAW LEAK ABOVE THE FUEL FILTER. THE WHOLE LINE UNDER TRUCK IS TERRIBLY CORRODED AND WILL NEED REPLACING. I LIVE IN HAWAII AND HAVE HAD THE TRUCK FOR 5 YEARS SO NO SALT DAMAGE HERE. *TR

MY 2001 GMC SIERRA 3500 WITH A 8.1L V8 ENGINE STALLED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. IT WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL A "COOL" DOWN PERIOD. THIS PROBLEM SURFACED AS NOT BEING ABLE TO START THE ENGINE AFTER IT HAD RUN AND THEN SET FOR 30 - 60 MINUTES AND WOULD NOT START UNTIL SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO START IT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THE LAST YEAR AND HAS PROGRESSED TO THE STALL ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET AN ENGINE FAILURE CODE FROM THE VEHICLE LISTED AS CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILURE. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THE RECALL FROM GMC (06083 -- CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR ENGINE STALL) AND CALLED THE DEALER WHICH INFORMED ME THAT MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I THEN CALLED GMC'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THAT I'M HAVING THE EXACT PROBLEMS LISTED ON THE EXACT VEHICLE WITH THE EXACT ENGINE LISTED. ALSO I HAVE SINCE FOUND 3 OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH NHTSA OF THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM ON OTHER VEHICLES THAT WERE NOT COVERED. IT IS EVIDENT TO ME THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS BEYOND THE BLOCK OF VIN'S GMC RECALLED AND SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER THESE OTHER VEHICLES. WHILE DRIVING I HAD MY BRAKES FAIL, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. IT WAS A RESULT OF A BROKEN STEEL BRAKE LINE UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. WHAT I FOUND WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK WAS ALL THE LINES THAT WENT TO THE ABS UNIT WERE BADLY RUSTED. ONE OF MY COWORKERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON HIS 2001 GMC SUBURBAN BUT HE CHUCKED IT UP TO ALL THE CAMPING TRIPS HE WENT ON WHERE HE LEFT HIS TRUCK PARKED OFF ROAD. MY TRUCK HOWEVER ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN TAKEN OFF ROAD. I ALSO FLUSH THE BRAKE FLUID ONCE A YEAR AS PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, SO THEY CAN'T CLAIM THEY RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. I DRIVE MY TRUCK EVERY DAY TO WORK ABOUT ONE MILE AWAY. MY DRIVEWAY IS PAVED AND THE PARKING LOT AT MY PLACE OF WORK IS ALSO PAVED. I DON'T PULL ANY HEAVY TRAILERS OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO THE LINE FAILURE. I AM NOT PUTTING DOWN GM PRODUCTS BECAUSE ALL MY VEHICLES ARE GM VEHICLES INCLUDING TWO ANTIQUES. ONE A 1955 CHEVY WHICH HAD ORIGINAL BRAKE LINES UNTIL I DID A DISC BRAKE CONVERSION SEVERAL YEARS BACK. THE OTHER A 1970 CHEVELLE WHICH IS CURRENTLY A RESTORATION PROJECT BUT THE LINE ARE STILL ORIGINAL. THERE IS OBVIOUS A PROBLEM WITH THE MATERIAL USED TO MAKE THESE LINES. I WAS RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE TO MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO GM NO LONGER SELLS THE LINES WHICH MAKES IT A MUCH MORE TROUBLESOME REPAIR. I ALSO DON'T OWN A BOAT, JET SKI OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD REQUIRE ME TO PUT MY VEHICLE IN SALT WATER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR AT AN EXPENSE OF $400.59. HE THEN ADDED THAT BECAUSE THE VIN NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL# 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), HE WAS INELIGIBLE FOR A FREE REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,550. TRUCK IS SUBJECT TO A GMC REGIONAL RECALL (RECALL ID# 58438 ) BUT GMC HAS REFUSED TO FIX PROBLEM STATING THE TRUCK WAS NOT IN THE RECALL DATABASE. INJECTOR FAILURES ON 2001 GMC DURAMAX 6.6 DIESEL ENGINE. INJECTORS FAILED AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 167,000 MILES, FAILED AGAIN AT 197,000 MILES AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. G M CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM UNDER WARRANTY IF THEY FAILED AGAIN IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. INJECTORS FAILED AT 234,000 MILES AND GM CUSTOMER SERVICE RENIGGED ON THEIR WORD. MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD FAILURES IN 30,000 TO 40,000 MILES. THEY ARE REPLACING PARTS WITH REMANUFACTURED PARTS AND THEY ARE NOT LASTING. GM DEALERS ARE CHARGING $3600.00 TO $4,500.00 TO REPLACE THESE INJECTORS OUT OF WARRANTY. IT IS PLAIN THAT THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE INJECTORS WHEN THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON INJECTORS FROM 100,000 TO 200,000 MILES OR SEVEN YEARS. THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE DO NOT DRIVE THEIR VEHICLES THAT MUCH IN SEVEN YEARS. ALL I WANTED WAS A FAIR DEAL AND DID NOT GET IT. *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STANDING ON THE TAILGATE, THE TAILGATE CABLES FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED BOTH TAILGATE CABLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.

I WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHERE I THINK THE BRAKES ON MY 2001 GMC SIERRA FAILED TO STOP MY VEHICLE IN TIME. I REAR-ENDED A PICKUP TRUCK, WHICH HIT A TOYOTA, WHICH THEN HIT A JEEP. I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON ABS FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS, YET MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. NHTSA SHOULD FORCE GM TO RECALL ALL TRUCKS, REGARDELESS OF LOCATION, AND HAVE THE ABS SYSTEM PROPERLY FIXED (NOT JUST CLEAN THE SENSORS!!). *NM

ABOUT APRIL OF 2005 MY TRUCK STARTED SHUTTING OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. AT THIS TIME IT WOULD RESTART AUTOMATICALLY WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS. TOOK IT IN TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRUCK WAS MISSING A STALL CODE AND THAT THEY HAD UPDATED IT. IN SEPTEMBER IT STARTED TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, I HAD ASKED SOME MECHANICS I KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE AN IGNITION PROBLEM. WE STARTED CHECKING ALL IGNITION CONNECTIONS, FUSES, GROUNDS ETC. IT STOPPED FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT WERE IT WILL SHUT OFF THREE AND FOUR TIMES PER TRIP. WHILE MYSELF AND TWO OTHER PASSENGERS WERE WORKING IN LUGOFF SC IT SHUT OFF ON US IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY, NEARLY CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THAT IF IT DID IT AGAIN TO CALL THEM AND THEY WOULD SEND A SERVICE TECH OUT TO LOOK AT IT. I HAVE A 2001 GMC SIERRA 3500. I HAVE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN NHTSA ID NUMBER 05V37900. THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE AT SLOW SPEEDS. I HAVE CALLED GM ABOUT IT, E-MAILED THEM ABOUT IT, STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE DEALER AND EVERYONE SAYS MY VEHICLE IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL BUT IT IS SHOULD BE FOR SURE. MY FRIENDS WITH 1500'S AND 2500'S HAVE ALL HAD IT REPAIRED BUT I GOT NO NOTICE. EVERY PLACE I CHECK SAYS IT SHOULD BE ON THE RECALL LIST BUT NOT WHEN I USE THE VIN ON THE GM SITE. *JB

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS RUST ON THE ABS SENSOR ON THE FRONT AXLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, AND THEY TOOK THE FRONT HUBS OFF AND CLEANED OUT THE RUST. THE TWO ABS SENSORS WERE ALSO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING PROPERLY AT THIS TIME. THERE WAS RECALL, 05V379000, AND THIS CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. DT: CONTACT STATED THE TREAD ON 2 FIRESTONE TIRE COME OFF. THE FIRST ONE CAME OFF AT 19,657 MILES ON 6-10-05. THE SECOND ONE CAME OFF AT 22,250 MILES ON 7-13-05 WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH. HE BROUGHT THEM TO FIRESTONE ON 6-10-05. THEY MADE HIM AN OFFER, BUT IT DID NOT SEEM REASONABLE. ONE MONTH LATER, THE SECOND TIRE FAILED, AND THEY PRORATED THE TIRES FOR WEAR. CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE TIRES, AND WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL ONES THAT CAME ON THE TRUCK THAT HE BOUGHT IN 2001. THEY WOULD NOT GIVE HIM THE NEW TIRES UNTIL HE GAVE THEM THE OLD TIRES. THERE WAS DAMAGE DONE TO TRUCK. HE STILL HAD THE FIRST TIRE THAT WAS DAMAGED. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THIS TRUCK, I WAS DOING LESS THAN 20 MPH SLOWING DOWN TO STOP AT A LIGHT. I HIT A SMALL DUMP THEN I HEARD THE ABS COME ON AND I ROLL RIGHT THROUGH THE RED LIGHT. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT MUST BE MY DRIVING. AFTER SEVERAL OTHER SIMILAR SITUATIONS, I HAD THE ABS DISCONECTED AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER FAILURES.

FAILURE OCCURS BELOW 15MPH WHILE DOING A NORMAL STOP ON BOTH WET AND DRY ROAD (WITH NO CONTAMINANTS ON THE ROAD TO AFFECT BRAKING). THIS HAS HAPPENED EIGHT TIMES IN THE 8500 MILES I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE, WITH THE EIGHTH TIME RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. EVENT COURSE IS THAT I AM COMING TO A NORMAL STOP, AND WHILE MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE I PUSH SLIGHTLY MORE ON THE PEDAL IN AN INSTANCE WHERE A LITTLE MORE BRAKE IS NEEDED TO STOP BEFORE WHERE I HAD ORIGINALLY PLANNED. IMMEDIATELY THE ABS KICKS IN (I CAN HEAR A WHIRRING SOUND BUT THE BRAKES PEDAL DOES NOT FLUCTUATE), AND I LOOSE ABOUT 50% OF THE BRAKING POWER RIGHT WHEN I NEED MORE TO STOP SOONER. OBVIOUSLY THE VEHICLE KEEPS MOVING FORWARD PAST WHERE I NEED IT TO STOP. THIS VEHICLE IS OWNED BY SEATTLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND IS A MAINTENANCE VEHICLE. THE MAINTENANCE SHOP AND DEALER CLAIM THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, AND I HAVE REFUSED TO DRIVE IT. REAR WHEEL BEARING SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED.
