Incident Narrative
An employee was operating a spreader bar while installing an HVAC unit on a rooftop. A load was being lowered while the injured employee got into position. The load came down too fast for the employee to move out of the way and the spreader bar slammed into his steel toe boot. His hand was caught between the load and the bar, amputating two fingers.
