A SPRING IN THE HEAD LAMP PORTION OF THE HEAD PARK LAMP SWITCH CAN FAIL PREVENTING LATCHING OF THE HEAD LAMP PORTION OF THE SWITCH IN THE "ON" POSITION.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT HEAD/PARK LAMP SWITCH BUILD DATE CODES AND REPLACE SWITCHES WITH SUSPECT DATE CODES.

I STARTED SMELLING FUEL, AS THE WEEK PROGRESSED THE SMELL GREW INTENSELY UNBEARABLE, BEFORE TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL ONE DAY I DECIDED LET ME TAKE A LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AFTER ALL THIS IS GASOLINE WE ARE TAKING ABOUT. SO I SAW THAT THE FUEL LINE TO THE FUEL RAIL WAS A LITTLE WET SO I TURNED ON MY CAR AND A MIST OF GAS WAS SPRAYING OUT THE HOSE. I NEVER REALIZED HOW MUCH OF A RISK I WAS PUTTING MY KIDS IN BY DRIVING WITH THAT FUEL SMELL. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THAT, ITS NOT SAFE.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE SENSOR LIGHT PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, EVEN THOUSANDS TO TRY AND FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE DEFECTIVE SENSOR LIGHT, CAUSED HIM TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT IN DECEMBER 2012. THE ENGINE LIGHT, HAS BEEN ON FOR FIVE YEARS.

THE ENGINE CRADLE DROPPED DOWN PREVENTING HER TO STEER THE VEHICLE. HAD THERE BEEN ANOTHER VEHICLE CLOSE SHE WOULD HAVE DRIVEN DIRECTLY INTO IT. SHE WAS EXTREMELY SCARED AND SHAKEN. THE STEERING LOCKED. THE WHEEL REMAINED IN A NEUTRAL POSITION UNTIL THE CONTACT PULLED IT BACK. HE DROVE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE ORDERING THE PARTS TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. NO RECALLS WERE FOUND FOR THAT MODEL VEHICLE. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 183,000.

THE STEERING LINKAGE FAILED CAUSING THE CONTACT TO HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE MOTOR MOUNTS HAD DETACHED. THE PROBLEM I HAVE COME ACROSS IS THAT THE PLENUM THAT SITS ON TOP OF MY INTAKE IS MADE OUT OF SOME KIND OF CARBON FIBER OF SOME SORT . WELL THE FIRST TIME IT WENT OUT MY ENGINE STOPPED INSTANTLY ON THE INTERSTATE. LATER ON THAT DAY I FOUND OUT WHAT IT WAS. THE PLENUM HAS 2 WATER JACKETS ON EACH SIDE OF A VENT FOR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BY THE THROTTLE SIDE, IT CORRODED AROUND THAT VENT THAT LETS COOLING FLUID INTO THE INTAKE STOPPING THE MOTOR INSTANTLY. I HAD TO HAVE THE MOTOR AND THE PLENUM REPLACED AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURE NEEDS TO STOP MAKING THESE PARTS IN THE MATERIAL THAT THEY DO. THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO THE GM RECALL ABOUT THE FAILURE OF BRAKES, POWER STEERING, WIPERS. I HAVE A 1995 OLDS 88 ROYALE. BACK IN NOVEMBER MY WIFE WAS TURNING LEFT INTO A DRIVEWAY TO TURN AROUND AND HER POWER STEERING QUIT COMPLETELY. I E-MAILED OLDSMOBILE ABOUT THE PROBLEM AFTER I READ ABOUT THE RECALL. I DON'T KNOW HOW THE VEHICLE BEHIND WAS ABLE TO AVOID ME BUT, THANKFULLY HE DID. I TRIED PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO GO FORWARD AND BACK. IT WOULD BACK EASIER THAN IT WOULD GO FORWARD. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO FORCE THE CAR TO GO FORWARD A LITTLE BIT SO I COULD GET IT OUT OF THE STREET. I THEN CALLED AAA AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO BILL COOKE CADDILAC/OLDSMOBILE IN ITHACA THEY HAVE SINCE HAD THE CAR AND CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG. WHAT ON EARTH WOULD CAUSE A CAR TO LOCK UP IT'S BRAKES ALL BY ITSELF? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND FEEL SAFE? HOW DO I KNOW WHEN IT WILL DO IT AGAIN? WHAT IF IT HAPPENS WHILE I AM TRAVELLING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED? THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO HAPPEN ON A VEHICLE. I HAVE SINCE HEARD OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO ONE OTHER PERSON WHO WAS DRIVING AN APPROX. 1996 BUICK REGAL WHICH WOULD HAVE THE SAME SYSTEM AS MY CAR. THAT INSTANCE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO OTHER PEOPLE TOO?
