Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2010-2016 4Runner, 2003-2006 Tundra, 2003-2013 Corolla, 2009-2010 Corolla Matrix, 2004-2005 RAV4, 2002-2007 Sequoia, 2011-2013 Sienna, 2008-2012 Scion xB, 2008-2009 Lexus IS-F, 2007-2012 Yaris and Lexus ES350, 2010-2017 Lexus GX460, 2002-2010 Lexus SC430, 2006-2012 Lexus IS250 and IS350 and 2010-2015 Lexus IS250C and IS350C vehicles. These vehicles had their driver or passenger frontal air bag inflators previously replaced under a prior recall using inflators of the same design. The inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front driver inflator, front passenger airbag inflator, the airbag assembly, or the front passenger airbag sub-assembly and inflator. The recall began November 20, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are J0A, J0B, and J0C. Remedy: TOYOTA FILED AN AMENDED DEFECT REPORT ON NOVEMBER 25, 2009, STATING THAT DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND, ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, ALTER THE SHAPE OF THE FLOOR SURFACE UNDER THE PEDAL. THESE CHANGES ADDRESS THE RISK OF PEDAL ENTRAPMENT DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE FLOOR MAT. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. SOMETIMES THE LEFT HEADLIGHT WILL TURN OFF AND THE RIGHT STAYS ON AND VICE VERSA FOR THE RIGHT OR BOTH. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I NEEDED THE HEADLAMP REPLACED BUT ONCE I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE WITH THE MAKE AND MODEL OF MY VEHICLE I REALIZED THERE ARE NUMEROUS OF INDIVIDUALS HAVING THE SAME DANGEROUS ISSUE WITH HAVING THE HEADLAMPS REPLACE THE ISSUE STILL REMAINS THE HEADLAMPS SHUT OFF COMPLETELY INHIBITING THE VIEW OF THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT.

NOW WHEN DRIVING FACING THE SUN THERE IS A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT PROHIBITS A CLEAR VIEW WHILE DRIVING CREATING VARIOUS SAFETY PROBLEMS. TO OVERCOME THIS HAZARD THE DRIVER HAS TO PUT ON SUN GLASSES AND IF DRIVING AFTER SUNSET THE GLARE FROM STREET LIGHTS, TRAFFIC SIGNALS, ETC., CREATES MANY PROBLEMS BY DISTORTING THE VIEW THRU THE WINDSHIELD. AND NOW,THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD CANNOT BE REPAIRED OTHER THAN REPLACING IT WITH A NEW ONE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED, MY FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW FELL OUT OF THE CAR WHEN I WENT TO RAISE IT. THE WINDOW DIDN'T BREAK, AND I MADE IT HOME AND REINSTALLED IT AND HELD IT IN WITH TAPE. THIS HAPPENED LAST WINTER. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS, ESPECIALLY IN THE LEXUS FORUMS, AND THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS AS WELL. IN MY CASE, THE WINDOW CLIPS DID NOT BREAK, BUT RATHER THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT ADHESIVE APPLIED TO THE CLIPS, OR THE ADHESIVE SIMPLY FAILED. IN MY CASE I FOUND AN AUTO GLASS SERVICE THAT WILL DO IT FOR $250, COMPARED TO THE DEALER COST OF $700. BUT THE ISSUE IS SAFETY! IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND EITHER THE DRIVER'S WINDOW FELL OUT OR ANY OTHER WINDOW FELL OUT, IT MIGHT CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OR POSSIBLE INJURIES TO OTHERS OR A PASSENGER. TAKATA RECALL ITS BEEN OVER 2 YEARS SINCE ORIGINALLY RECEIVING CORRESPONDENCE FROM LEXUS ABOUT THE RECALLED AIR BAGS. I'VE CALLED CORPORATE AND LOCAL DEALERS AT LEAST ONCE PER QUARTER TO CHECK STATUS AND MORE IMPORTANTLY IF THE PRODUCTS HAD BEEN DELIVERED TO A REMEDY. I JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE FROM LEXUS STATING THE RECALL NOW HAD A REMEDY, BUT WHEN YOU CALL LOCAL DEALERS, THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS, HAVE NO CLUE WHEN MORE PARTS WILL ARRIVE, AND HAVE TO BE PLACE ON A WAIT LIST WITH NO IDEA OF DURATION. I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN WHO ENJOY RIDING IN THE FRONT SEAT, BUT CAN'T BECAUSE ALL THE BACK AND FORTH ABOUT BLAME AND LACK OF A REMEDY. A RECALL OF ANY KIND SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS LONG TO FIND A REMEDY AND FIX AFFECTED VECHICLES.

THE MANUFACTURER TRIED TO OFFER THE CONTACT A TRADE IN, AND MENTIONED THAT THEY WOULD OFFER SOME MONEY TOWARDS A RENTAL VEHICLE PER MONTH; HOWEVER, NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
