I have researched my 2014 Range Rover Evoque and have come upon 2 recalls. First one is recal no. 16V614000. This is where the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral as I am driving. While pulling out, the vehicle stopped running in the middle of the road. On restart the gear selector went down and I was unable to switch to neutral to push it out of the way. I had it towed to landrover and they told me the cam sprocket stopper dropped onto my timing chain and made it fall off. Looking online it seems like this is a big issue and still no safety recall. This issue is known by landrover and I don't see why life's have to be risked for things to get fixed.
The front door will not open on the driver's side from the outside. It will only open from the inside due to the door handle.

After the same issue occurring several times, we took it back to the dealer at which time the stated we need a new transmission for over $17,000!!! The vehicle last showed only 35,000 miles! We have begged and pleaded our case with the dealer and repeatedly with Land Rover USA with no satisfactory resolution.

COM TO FIND OUT THERE'S A RECALL ON TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE NEVER KNEW WITHOUT INVESTIGATION. STILL NOT SURE WHO TO CONTACT. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT INTO NEUTRAL ON THE HIGHWAY AND WOULD NOT SHIFT BACK. SPEED OF THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH
ON FEBRUARY 10, 2018, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE ERROR MESSAGE "GEARBOX FAULT" CAME ON. AT THE SAME TIME, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER ALTHOUGH THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB WAS STILL IN THE "S" POSITION. I SAFELY PULLED OVER AND SWITCHED OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB HAD RETRACTED, I STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN BY PRESSING THE START/STOP BUTTON. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB OUT OF THE "P" POSITION. AFTER REPEATING THIS PROCEDURE SEVERAL TIMES, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO TURN THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB INTO "S" AGAIN, ALLOWING ME TO DRIVE AWAY. THE ALMOST EXACT SAME EVENT HAPPENED AGAIN ON FEBRUARY 11, 2018. I HAD TO PULL OVER AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS THAT I COULD MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB INTO THE "S" POSITION ON THE FIRST TRY AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE. LATER THAT DAY, THE ERROR MESSAGE "GEARBOX FAULT" CAME ON AGAIN WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE IN A PARKING GARAGE. AS HAPPENED THE DAY BEFORE, I NEEDED TO RESTART THE ENGINE REPEATEDLY IN ORDER TO TURN THE GEAR SHIFT KNOB OUT OF THE "P" POSITION (I HAVE FILMED THIS INCIDENT WITH MY PHONE; FILE SIZE TOO BIG TO UPLOAD). FURTHERMORE, I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM IN DECEMBER 2016 AND JANUARY 2017 WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ROADS. IN BOTH CASES, I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND INFORMED THE SERVICE ADVISOR OF THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM APPARENTLY STILL PERSISTS AND HAS SO FAR HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES.

WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE IT SHUTDOWN AND I ROLLED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. I WAS TOLD IT MAY BE A BLOWN MOTOR BUT AFTER ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSIS IT WAS THE DETERMINED TO BE THAT THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH THE TENSIONER. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 83,000 MILES ON IT.
THIS IS MY FIRST RANGE ROVER AND WAS VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE STYLE AND LOOK OF MY CAR.. I'VE OWNED MANY OTHER CAR MODELS, BUT THIS HAS BY FAR BEEN MY FAVORITE. HOWEVER, I HAVE NEVER HAD THE COLORING ON THE CAR BRAND FADE. THE "R" ON RANGE ROVER, IN THE FRONT, IS ALMOST COMPLETELY BLACK. MY CAR IS STILL FAIRLY NEW AND THIS DISCOLORATION MAKES IT LOOK TACKY. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS? THIS IS A LUXURY CAR AND SHOULD NOT TARNISH THIS QUICKLY. IT'S THE NAME, SHOULDN'T IT REPRESENT QUALITY?

AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, AND RESTARTING AFTER A SEVERAL MINUTE WAIT, WE RESUMED DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A SUDDEN SCREECHING HALT AND WOULD NOT MOVE. THE ERROR MESSAGE AGAIN STATED GEAR BOX FAILURE. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER.

CAR WAS NOT ON INCLINE. WENT AFTER CAR AND HAMSTRINGS AND CALVES SNAPPED AND FACE PLANTED. ATTEMPTED TO RUN AFTER CAR AGAIN WITH SAME RESULT. SEVERE MUSCLE INJURY TO BOTH LEGS. NOW HIP IS DISLOCATING, MRI PENDING. CAR ROLLED ACROSS STREET AND WAS TRAPPED INTO TREES.

I FELL BACKWARDS AS LEFT LEG HOPPED AND COULD NOT KEEP UP. ON GROUND TRIED TO BRACE CAR WITH LEFT LEG, RIGHT AND LEFT LEGS WENT OVER HEAD UNDER OPEN DOOR AS CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL IN GEAR BACKWARDS. CAR WAS NOT ON INCLINE. WENT AFTER CAR AND HAMSTRINGS AND CALVES SNAPPED AND FACE PLANTED. ATTEMPTED TO RUN AFTER CAR AGAIN WITH SAME RESULT. SEVERE MUSCLE INJURY TO BOTH LEGS. NOW HIP IS DISLOCATING, MRI PENDING. CAR ROLLED ACROSS STREET AND WAS TRAPPED INTO TREES.

ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK GEAR AND INTO REVERSE, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A CURB. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER HIGHWAY FROM STREET TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE EVOQUE 2014 WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BUT RATHER REV AT VERY HIGH RPMS FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS AND THEN JARRINGLY SLIP INTO NEXT GEAR. THIS OCCURRED ON 6 OCCASIONS, ALWAYS ON THE HIGHWAY AND OFTEN AS CARS AND TRUCKS RAPIDLY APPROACHED AND HAD TO SLOW BEHIND ME OR SWERVE TO FREE LANES. I WAS TOLD SEVERAL TIMES BY THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS LIKELY A SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND IN AN EMAIL: "A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER INSTALLING THE LATEST SOFTWARE FOR YOUR TRANSMISSION, THE FACTORY HAS REQUESTED ALL DEALERS TO SUSPEND THE INSTALLATION OF THE SOFTWARE. THEY HAVE NOT GONE INTO DETAIL ON WHY BUT I ASSUME THE SOFTWARE HAS NOT COMPLETELY OR ONLY PARTIALLY CORRECTED THE INTENDED REPAIRS" THIS HAS ME VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE RELIABILITY AND SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
