On 12/6/24, while driving at highway speed, my engine made a LOUD EXPLOSIVE SOUND followed by immediate power loss—life-threatening. Vehicle couldn't exceed 65 mph despite full throttle, engine wouldn't idle, became inoperable. Had to merge right and limp to dealership in traffic. THIRD catastroph
... ic failure in recent months at only 11,700 miles. First (10/19/24, 11,174 miles): Multi-system errors, inoperable, 21 days out. Complete cylinder head replacement (Cylinder 2). Second (12/2/24): Identical errors two weeks later. Cylinder 4 misfire, fuel injector replaced, 3 days out. Different cylinder proves systemic defect—50% of engine affected. Third (12/6/24): Highway breakdown. "Repaired" in hours with spark plugs only—inadequate for explosive failure. Service advisor admitted "whole part might have potential issue" but Honda policy prohibits preventive replacement "until really broken"—knowingly allowing defective vehicles until catastrophic failure. Dealership attempted release without highway test; conducted only after I demanded it. No explosive sound explanation. Refused diagnostics, compression testing, internal inspection. First two failures had dashboard warnings at low speed. Third had ZERO immediate warning—normal to explosive failure instantly at highway speed (warnings appeared 2 hours later). Unpredictable and extremely dangerous. Explosive sound indicates severe internal damage—not just spark plugs. Evidence: 11,700 miles too young. Specific cylinders (2, 4) suggest manufacturing defect. Dealership admitted defect. Immediate recurrence after major repairs. Vehicle at Parkway Honda (1575 VFW Pkwy, West Roxbury, MA), available for inspection. Honda case #16033311/12. MA AG/BBB complaints filed. 24+ days out. URGE NHTSA: Investigate if other 2024 CR-Vs affected, determine if recall needed, investigate Honda policy refusing repair until catastrophic failure.Read more

I am writing to formally request an investigation into a serious safety defect affecting my 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio . I believe this issue is part of a broader pattern of manufacturing and design flaws that have compromised both safety and reliability •My vehicle experienced a catastrophic e
... ngine failure, resulting in a total repair estimate of approximately $32,000. This failure occurred without prior warning signs and is highly unusual for a vehicle of this age and mileage. Based on public recall data for the 2020 Stelvio, the following safety recalls may be related to my vehicle’s failure: •21V878 (Nov 2021): Fuel line sensor housing crack—potential for fuel leak, engine stall, or fire risk. •23V382 (May 2023): Cracks in carbon-ceramic brake rotors—risk of fracture under stress. •24V943 (Dec 2024): Loose connection between brake pedal and booster—risk of loss of braking effectiveness. •24V510 (Jul 2024): Faulty seatbelt buckle sensor—could prevent proper airbag deployment. These defects raise questions about the integrity and safety of critical vehicle systems. I request that my vehicle be evaluated for recall applicability and, if eligible, covered under required repair programs •The failure rendered my vehicle inoperable, imposing an immense financial burden due to the exorbitant repair cost. •I believe this is not an isolated incident but indicative of a systemic defect. •If unresolved, this poses ongoing safety risks to me, my passengers, and other road users. I respectfully request that the NHTSA: 1.Initiate an investigation into whether this engine failure is representative of a larger safety defect across the 2020 Stelvio vehicle population. 2.Review the applicability of relevant recalls (listed above) to my VIN. 3.Require Alfa Romeo to provide recall remedies, reimbursement, or a goodwill resolution where appropriate. 4. Issue a technical directive (TSB or recall) if a broader manufacturing defect is identified. Thank youRead more

This is the second car like this that I have had. Both had the same issues. when at highway speeds of 65 or greater the steering wheel will shake left and right. It is almost like there is a wheel that is not balanced. That is not the case, I have had the car in the shop 3 times now for this sam
... e issue. The last car I had(2015 VW Passat TDI) my son totaled it out in January. It also had the same issues but the dealer ship in Fort Wayne Indiana got it fixed and never really told me what was wrong with it other than they had to call the manufacturer to resolve the issue. The new car has been to the shop and I recorded what it was doing while driving for the technician to see and he put it back up on his lift the day after I got it back from them. he was able to replicate what it was doing for me on the road in the air and on his lift without the car moving. The steering wheel will shake from left to right and as speed picks up it becomes faster and more violent. I was told that I needed a new "Rack and Pinion". The dealership explained to me that the main steering gear is bad and since it is electronic the computer doesn't know where zero should be, thus causing the jerking of wheel from left to right as the computer is guessing and then over correcting. This information would have been more helpful upfront before I paid to have the car worked on chasing other issues that did not resolve the problem. So as of right now I am $1,700.00 in on this issue and being told that it's another $3,500.00 to fix said issue with no guarantee that it will actually be fixed. I asked what would happen if the gear actually broke and I was told to always wear my seatbelt and to keep both hands on the steering wheel. The faster you go the harder it shakes, when your at highway speeds and go to pass someone the car really shakes.Read more

In March of this year (2024), while driving down the road at 45 mph, my Pacifica's dashboard suddenly lit up and flashed all kinds of warnings including ABS off, the check engine light, the parking brake, the service electronic throttle control, electronic stability control off, collision off, warni
... ng parking brake, and other lights that I'm not sure what they mean. It seemed like every warning light in the panel lit up. The van slowed down and wouldn't let me accelerate and it felt like the power steering wasn't active. I pulled into a parking lot and shut the engine off. After restarting, the check engine light was lit, but the van let me proceed. I took it to my auto shop that said the codes were all electronic/ software related and I had to take it to a dealership. The dealership said they couldn't find anything wrong and that the codes didn't save. On June 9, the lights started flashing again while I was parked in a parking lot while I was on a road trip. I was able to capture the end of it on my camera. I again turned the engine off and on again, and the van "reset" with only the check engine light on. I was able to proceed through the rest of the weekend and the check engine light actually turned off after a day. Then on June 22, the warning lights started flashing again. My son was driving this time (along with my husband and 2 other sons). He pulled into a parking lot to return the van home, but it wouldn't go into a gear. Slowly, they toggled through the gears until it would allow them to drive the van home. He also said that it felt like he lost power steering. Losing steering, the ability to accelerate, the ability to put the vehicle in gear while driving, and losing the ABS system and the electronic stability system definitely puts my family and others at risk of an accident. I am prepared to take it to my dealer if asked. It has not been inspected by anyone else accept a local car shop and the dealership.Read more

This complaint is in regard to a safety recall (NHTSA Recall# 23V652) of our 2013 Kia Rio. On November of 2023, we received an interim notice in the mail about a Kia Rio recall. The recall occurred in September 2023, two months earlier. The notice detailed that the Rio had a safety risk of an engine
... fire while parked or driving. Owners were advised to limit their driving and park their cars outdoors away from other cars or buildings until the part is available. This is not an option for us. The part is still not available, five months after the recall. Our Rio has been sitting in our driveway, next to the house, since November 2023 and we're still paying auto insurance on it. We do not feel safe driving it, nor keeping it parked close to the house. It has been a hardship for our family to have one less vehicle to drive. I have written a complaint to Kia corporate and have not heard anything back from them. So far Kia's only resolution to this delay is for consumers to just wait for the part. That is unacceptable.Read more

I purchased my 2014 Hyundai Veloster as a CPO back in January of 2018 with approximately 37k miles. Currently it has 95,637 miles. Within the first couple months of ownership, I noticed that the vehicle was sporadically acting up during acceleration (specifically when shifting between 2nd and 3rd g
... ear). During this process it acts as if all of its power is shut off momentarily and then comes back on, which can potentially be dangerous when accelerating into high traffic areas, or busy intersections because not only does it lose acceleration power but steering as well. I brought it to the dealership right away, but because it never throws any trouble codes, nor does it happen on command - they cannot pin point the issue. Initially they changed the alternator. The second time, I believe, they changed the knock sensor or the Camshaft position sensor. In short, I’ve brought it to the dealership several times and have filed numerous complaints to Hyundai Consumer Affairs, but to no avail. Most recently (March 2022), it happened when both of my stepchildren were in the car while we were returning from the beach. I accelerated from a traffic light and was going around a bend when it happened causing me to slam into the curb and caused nearly $1700 in damage, which I had to pay for out of pocket because at this point it is out of Warranty- even though it’s been an ongoing issue pre-warranty lapse. Then to top it all off, I was leaving work this evening to go to an appointment and all of a sudden it began smoking from underneath the steering column. I quickly pulled into the turning lane and popped the fuse box lid open. Instantly I noticed that a wire harness was on fire, which luckily I was able to blow out after several attempts. I’m at my wit’s end with this car, with the dealership, and with Hyundai….. I need help and don’t know what to do!Read more

Incident date: Jul 19, 2022
