I purchased this vehicle believing it was safe to drive. After the sale, I discovered that the driver's seatbelt was completely broken and not properly secured. This serious safety defect was never disclosed to me before I purchased the vehicle. Had I known about this issue, I would not have purchas

Selling a vehicle with a defective seatbelt without disclosing the defect put my safety and the safety of my passengers at risk. I am requesting that this matter be investigated and that appropriate action be taken regarding the seller's failure to disclose this serious safety issue.Read more

I own a new 2025 Honda CR-V purchased from Honda of Concord (Hendrick Automotive Group, Concord, NC). At around 220 miles, the vehicle’s dashboard displayed major safety warnings: “Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem” and “Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem.” Soon after, a very
... strong burning smell—similar to fire or overheated brakes—came from the vehicle. When I brought it to Honda of Concord, the service advisor (Ashley Petisce) initially refused to accept or log my safety complaint. She only agreed to inspect the car after I stated that I would hold Honda and the dealership responsible if an accident occurred. Later that day, she also told me the burning smell was normal and would “go away after driving more,” which was alarming given the severity of the odor. After finally inspecting the car, the dealership found that both front rotors, pads, and calipers were defective and required replacement on this brand-new vehicle. When I requested that all related safety sensors (ACC, CMBS, radar, and cameras) be checked after the brake repair, the same advisor said she would “only check what policy allows,” meaning only the brakes, and no further sensor or system testing would be done. This raises serious safety concerns. The initial refusal to inspect could have resulted in brake failure or fire. The defective brake components indicate a potential manufacturing defect, and the disabled safety systems create an immediate crash-risk condition. The dealership’s refusal to confirm sensor functionality after the repair leaves the vehicle’s safety systems unverified. I request that NHTSA investigate whether other 2025 Honda CR-V vehicles have similar brake or sensor defects and whether Honda’s dealer network is properly following safety-reporting procedures.Read more

I have experienced two engine failures in my 2005 Ford Mustang due to timing chain issues, specifically the failure of the timing chain cassette, guides, and tensioners in the 4.0L SOHC V6 engine. The first failure happened suddenly with no warning, resulting in severe bottom-end damage, including r
... od knock. The timing chain cassette ends tend to snap off, sending debris through the engine and damaging lifters, camshafts, and other critical components. The second failure was preceded by an audible “death rattle,” a known symptom of timing chain guide and tensioner failure. Despite this, my vehicle never displayed a check engine light or oil pressure warning before either failure. Unlike later Mustangs with an oil pressure gauge, mine only has a warning light, which never activated. This issue poses a major safety risk, especially at highway speeds. My first engine failure occurred with no prior symptoms, which could have led to an accident had I been merging or overtaking. A failing timing chain can cause misfires, loss of power, or sudden engine shutdown, endangering the driver and others on the road. Independent mechanics have confirmed this issue, and Ford service centers recognize it as a common problem with the 4.0L SOHC V6 engine. Ford has quoted $3,000–$4,000 for timing chain service, making repairs nearly as expensive as engine replacement. These engines rely on multiple chains and hydraulic tensioners that wear out over time, causing slack in the timing chain, jumped timing, and catastrophic damage, typically after 100,000 miles. Despite this, there are no clear warning systems to alert drivers before failure occurs. While timing chains are considered serviceable components, the high failure rate of the timing chain guides and tensioners in these engines, combined with excessive repair costs, indicates a design flaw. I have spent around $4,500 addressing this issue, yet the risk of recurrence remains.Read more

My infotainment display has a prevalent ghost touch issue that causes majors distractions while I'm driving, and no warnings on when it'll happen. The ghost touch will end my navigation, end my calls or put them on hold, call random people in my contacts, turns on/off the music, changes the volume,
... changes various settings (sometimes safety settings), switching back/forth to different things, etc. It used to only happen when the car was not moving or I'm parked (as the touchscreen is only supposed to be available then), but now it's happening even when I'm driving on the freeway. I used to try correcting/fixing whatever by using the knob control, but the problem can become so severe that even when I use the physical knob I can't gain control over it. I can't turn off the infotainment display because the ghost touch just turns it back on! I brought it into my local Mazda dealership for regular servicing and decided to ask about it, but they're quoting me over $800 to fix it. They said it's a common issue they get all the time and it's something to do with a faulty screen?? Not too sure what exactly, but a friend of mine said he had the same issue and the issue was too sporadic he decided to disconnect the touch screen altogether. It's too much of a distraction to deal with while driving, even for quick trips to the store, etc. It causes cognitive, visual, and manual distractions...these faulty screens are putting us all at a higher risk of being involved in an accident by taking our attention away from driving, even for just a split second.Read more

While driving Dec 10, 2024 my VW Taos failed to accelerate after slowing at an intersection. If this happens when I’m turning, on coming traffic has to slow down unexpectedly. The EPC light and check engine light came on. Car would not go above 15-20 mph. Called dealer and cautiously drove car to
... dealer. The mechanic said a popped fuse was reason the lights came on and car wouldn’t accelerate. They replaced 10A fuse and said codes/lights corrected. Now on 12/23/24 same exact issue has occurred. This is a huge safety concern. Taos 2022 models had a safety recall for a fuel delivery module that was causing that exact same issues and EPC and check engine light to come on. I am waiting for the dealer to call me back now to discuss how serious this really is and to get them to acknowledge they didn’t truly diagnose the vehicle the first time (given the 2022 Taos safety recall). Please investigate, I believe the 2023 models have the exact same problem. Not being able to accelerate is dangerous in multiple scenarios.Read more

After a while it would come back, took to the dealer again, again they said they did not feel a thing. It has done it off and on since, I just do the lock to lock and it quits for a while. Have noticed when driving on the highway that it starts to act up quicker. Yes, Honda should issue a recall. I could see someone with limited mechanical ability, having it lead them into an accident situation. There were sometimes I had to really put way too much pressure on the steering wheel just to make any minor corrections, warning my wife to be careful and not over steer the car.Read more

2018 Honda CR-V EX Shortly after purchasing my Honda CR-V in Feb 2018, I noticed a strong smell of gas when I changed the oil. I found a recall bulletin regarding fuel mixing with oil and worked with Honda to have a software update (Case #*******) in late 2018. Afterwards, the vehicle performed
... normally and has for a few years. Approximately 12 months ago every light on the instrumentation panel came on (Vehicle Stability, Adaptive Cruise Control, Tire Pressure monitoring, Collision avoidance, Lane Keep assist, etc) I used a code reader and found that the only hard code was P0172 “Fuel System Too Rich”. I reset the code and it came back the following day. I reset the code again and it came back 2 months later. Since then, the exact same code has shown up at least 6 times. It always occurs while the engine is running and I am idling, not when driving. Sometimes the dash warning lights clear automatically after a few days and sometimes I have to manually reset the P0172 code with a OBD tool. I have replaced the battery to ensure it wasn’t a low voltage issue, but it continues. While the code is set and all of the warning lights are present on the dash, none of the vehicle safety features work. Collision avoidance, Lane Keep assist, Adaptive Cruise Control. I do have an appointment scheduled with my local Honda Service Center for Oct. 2. Reading through TSBs and Customer complaints, I find hundreds of examples of this exact issue. If this had happened on a busy multi-lane highway, there is a high probability of an accident occurring putting occupants of the car and other cars at risk. In both cases there was no prior warning of any problem with the vehicle. The first repair in July required Audi to replace the master controller located in the battery pack and replace the front engine due to a fluid leak. This took 6+ weeks to complete. I had the car back 5 weeks after the first repair when it happened again. I am still waiting diagnosis on second repair.Read more

Around June of this year, my engine light came on. I took it to my technician, who cleared the code. After an accident on 7/4/23, and after picking the car up from being repaired, the engine light came on again. It is a code that indicates there is a "Cracked or faulty turbo charger". Extensive rese
... arch has shown this to be a manufacturing defect, which can cause catastrophic failure. The manufacturer, Tata Motors is well aware of this problem and has been since 2011, yet they continued to build cars with this defect. The manifold that the turbo charger is attached to at the back of this transverse engine, has a weld across the entire top. A weld in a manifold of any kind is inappropriate and dangerous. The only option is to have a $6,000 repair done. This is unacceptable and I demand that Tata Motors issue a recall for the years affected.Read more
