THE RECALL # IS GM CAMPAIGN #97058 AND THE NHTSA # IS 97V217. THE SAFETY ALERT STATES THAT "DEALERS WILL INSPECT THESE VEHICLES AND REPLACE THE ABS MODULATOR." TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, THIS WORK WAS NEVER DONE NOR DID I EVER RECEIVE NOTICE OF A RECALL. I SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE PERSON AT 1-800-222-1020 REGARDING THIS MATTER TODAY AND WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES, THIS PERSON AGREED THAT NOT ONLY WAS MY VEHICLE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT THAT THE RECALL WORK HAD BEEN PERFORMED ON 5-27-99 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 91K MILES. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THIS WORK WAS NEVER DONE AND THE PART WAS NEVER REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PART AND THE USED PART THAT I PURCHASED TO REPLACE IT SEEMS TO BE OK FOR NOW. WHILE TRAVELING IN SNOW ABS BRAKES DID NOT KICK IN, AND VEHICLE CONTINUED TO TRAVEL. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
ABS MODULATOR FAILED IN JULY 1995. CONTACTED GM ZONE OFICE AT 914-222-1020. IN JULY 1995. THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE ABS MODULATOR BECAUSE I WAS THE SECOND OWNER. I AM REPORTING THIS FAILURE AT THIS LATE DATE BECAUSE MY WIFE'S 1995 BUICK WHICK SHE PURCHASED NEW HAS ALSO HAD AN ABS FAILURE. I WILL SUBMIT A REPORT OF THIS FAILURE ALSO. FEEL THAT GM MAY HAVE ABS PROBLEMS IN MANY OF ITS MAKES OF CARS. BOTH OF OUR GM CARS HAVE ABS SYSTEMS THAT HAVE FAILED. THANK YOU.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAPRICE, I PULLED AT THE SEAT SHOULDER BELT TO READJUST ITS POSITION. IT RELEASED, ALLOWING ALL THE BELT MATERIAL TO BE LOOSELY HELD AROUND ME. I AM NOT AN ATHLETIC FEMALE AND DID NOT PULL HARD. I CONTACTED GM. THEY STATED THAT ALTHOUGH SEAT BELTS ARE SAFETY DEVICES, THEY ARE ONLY GUARANTEED TO FUNCTION DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD OR 36,000 MILES. THEY SAID I WAS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY TO HAVE THE SEAT BELTS REPLACED AND WOULD NOT HAVE ASSUMED ANY LIABILITY HAD A WRECK OCCURRED WHEN THE SEAT BELT FAILED. THE CASE NUMBER AT GM IS 990281010. I RE-FILED THE COMPLAINT THIS WEEK. I ALSO DISCUSSED THE ISSUE WITH GM IN DECEMBER. *AK

CHECK ENGINE GUAGE PERFORMING POORLY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ENGINE.
THE ABS RELAY AND BRAKE PRESSURE MODULATOR VALVE FAILED PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE, AFTER REPAIR FAILED AGAIN AND WAS NOT REPAIRED AS PART OF RECALL.
WHEN USING THE DRIVER'S FRONT & THE PASSENGER LEFT REAR SEAT BELTS, THE RETRACTORS WOULD FAIL TO WORK PROPERLY. THE SEAT BELTS WOULD STAY OUT & WOULD NOT RETRACT BACKWARDS TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION. *AK
VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED CONTINUED STALLING, REPLACEMENT OF THREE ECM AND 2 IGNITION MODULES HAVE NOT CORRECTED STALLING PROBLEMS.
