Thermostat failure causes steering assist to be reduced. This leaves more difficult steering especially in an emergency situation, thus a safety concern. The vehicle displays a warning: "Steering Assist Is Reduced, Drive with care". An internet search shows this is a well-known problem across all Ge
... neral Motor vehicles. This is also indicated by the technician notes on my repair invoice that a bulletin from the manufacturer has been issued. After restart the warning clears leaving the driver to believe all is well. After a number of miles it reappears.Read more

The Keyless Vehicle Module security system on my 2023 Range Rover Sport deactivated both of my smart keys simultaneously without any warning or alert. The vehicle locked itself while both keys were inside and completely disabled them both at the same time, leaving my vehicle totally inoperable. I ha
... d no way to start or operate my vehicle. There was no warning light, no alert on the dashboard before this happened, and no information provided at purchase that this could ever occur. The only message displayed on the dashboard after the fact was Refer to Handbook Smart Key Deactivated. I am a single father with dependents and this is my only vehicle. I was left completely stranded at my home with no transportation for multiple days. This is a known and documented design defect affecting all Jaguar Land Rover vehicles manufactured from 2022 onwards. The vehicle has been inspected by Land Rover Alexandria dealer located at [XXX] . The dealer confirmed the issue and quoted me $3,000 to replace the Keyless Vehicle Module hardware. After I filed a BBB complaint and contacted Land Rover corporate the price was reduced to $640. My vehicle is a 2023 model and is still under full factory warranty. Land Rover corporate has an open case on this matter under case number XXX No other vehicle manufacturer allows their own security system to completely strand the owner with no warning and no safeguard. This is a serious safety defect because it can strand drivers in dangerous locations at any time without notice INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

While driving at highway speeds, I needed to accelerate hard in order to pass another vehicle and while accelerating there was a downshift and increase in RPM. After passing, the RPM remained high even after I took foot off accelerator and it seemed the transmission did not shift back out of lower
... gear, keeping the car traveling at a high rate of speed, endangering myself and other traffic. Applying the brakes would not cause the engine to slow down and the engine kept working hard and traveling fast, causing strain on the brakes to slow down. I pulled over and initially shifted to neutral, but the engine was still revving high (4000 rpm observed). Then I placed the car in park which did not change the high RPM. Then I shut off engine and let it rest. Then I turned auto back on and all was normal. The problem has not yet been reported to dealer but will occur in coming days. There were no prior symptoms, problems, or warning lights on dash display prior to this occurring.Read more

While driving my 2020 Acura MDX A-Spec at approximately 63,744 miles, the vehicle suddenly lost all engine power without warning while passing through a busy multi-lane intersection. The loss of propulsion prevented acceleration and forced us to coast across traffic lanes to reach the shoulder, crea
... ting a significant safety hazard. The engine would not restart. The vehicle was inspected on 3/17/2026 by Lyle Pearson Acura (Boise, ID). The dealership diagnosed catastrophic internal engine failure with the following findings: spun rod bearing in cylinder #6, excessive metal debris in the oil pan, and bearing seizure to the crankshaft. The technician stated the failure pattern is consistent with the rod-bearing defect described in Acura Safety Recall / Service Bulletin 24-001. Although my VIN is NOT currently included in the recall population, the confirmed failure mode matches the known defect. This suggests the issue may extend beyond currently identified vehicles that are included in Acura Service Bulletin 24-001 and NHTSA recall 23V-751. The vehicle has a salvage title from prior cosmetic damage only; no engine, drivetrain, or structural components were affected. The vehicle has been properly maintained with documented service history. This failure represents a serious safety risk due to sudden loss of power in active traffic conditions, increasing the risk of collision or injury. I request NHTSA review this incident to determine whether additional vehicles should be included in the recall and to assess the broader safety risk.Read more

While driving my 2016 Hyundai Veloster (VIN: [XXX] ) on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration. I went from 60 mph down to 20 mph with no throttle response, and the car only continued moving briefly from momentum. I was forced to stop in unsafe highway conditions and had the vehicle tow
... ed home. Prior to this complete failure, the car had recurring transmission/drive issues: it would start, but when placed in reverse it moved backward, and when shifted into drive it still only moved backward. Despite repeated repair attempts, the problems persisted. A certified mechanic later inspected the vehicle and confirmed severe internal engine damage, including metallic noises, blue smoke, oil leakage from worn piston rings, and complete compression loss. The mechanic concluded the vehicle requires deep engine repair or replacement. These failures are consistent with widespread reports of Hyundai Veloster engine defects, which pose serious safety risks to drivers. Component/System Failed: The primary component failing is the Front Overhead Console Assembly (P-R-N-D manual gear selector/shifter and hazard light switch). The assembly detaches, rattles, and fails to remain securely affixed to the headliner. The defect has been present since delivery (Aug 2024, 2
... 08 miles). Safety Risk: The overhead console contains the crucial backup gear selector and the hazard light button. Should the vehicle’s primary touchscreen fail (rendering the main gear selector unusable), reliance on this repeatedly detaching or faulty manual shifter compromises the driver's ability to safely operate the vehicle (Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive) or activate emergency hazard lights. Problem Confirmation/Inspection: The failure is confirmed by the manufacturer (Tesla Service Centers). Tesla attempted to fix the overhead console defect at least four times. The defect was confirmed again on October 22, 2025 (11936 miles), where Tesla noted only a "slight adjustment... as a temporary fix" and stated a "Permanent fix will be performed on the upcoming visit". The vehicle and its components have been inspected repeatedly by Tesla technicians. Warning Lamps/Symptoms: The primary symptom is the physical rattling, looseness, and detachment of the overhead console/gear selector. The center console can come off at ant time that the windshield visor is detached from the console. This has happened to me several times while I was driving and it caused the cybertruck to shift out of gear and has changed the gear to neutral and park on different occasions. The first time this happened while I drove, I was driving down the street and the car came to a hault when the gear shift cover came loose. This could have caused a serious accident, but fortunately it didnt. This problem existed from the time of delivery & we had to make our 1st service apt on the day we took possession of the truck. This happened several times afterwards and tesla was unable to fix this in 7 attempRead more

While traveling on the interstate at approximately 70 mph, I pressed the accelerator pedal to increase speed. Instead of accelerating, the vehicle suddenly jerked, and the wheels locked up as though the brakes engaged on their own. I continued pressing the accelerator, but the vehicle rapidly decele
... rated without responding to throttle input. The most concerning part was that the brake lights did not illuminate while the vehicle slowed down, which created an extreme safety hazard because drivers behind me had no warning that I was slowing. A large truck traveling directly behind me nearly collided with my vehicle because the sudden deceleration was not signaled by the brake lights. This incident placed both myself and surrounding drivers in immediate danger. The vehicle is currently at the dealership service department for inspection, and I have reported this issue. At this time, the problem has not yet been confirmed or reproduced by the dealer, but the failure was unexpected, severe, and occurred without warning. Prior to the failure, the only indication was that a red wrench symbol with a lightning bolt illuminated on the dashboard. The failure itself happened suddenly with no audible or mechanical warning. The malfunction appears related to the braking system, power train, and/or speed control systems. I am requesting that this incident be fully documented and investigated as a potential safety defect, as an uncommanded deceleration at highway speeds without brake light illumination presents a serious risk of high-speed rear-end collisions.Read more

I am submitting this complaint due to repeated and unresolved safety and performance issues. Beginning in mid-2023, the vehicle experienced multiple system-wide failures, including: -All dashboard warning lights illuminating intermittently without cause, sometimes for days. -Sudden failure to acce
... lerate after stopping, including stalling in intersections. -Engine running rich with repeated check engine light activations. On two occasions, the vehicle stalled in the middle of busy intersections, once with my [XXX] child in the car, posing a serious risk to my family and other drivers. The dealership replaced the A/C Control Unit (June 2023) citing it as the cause of the system alerts, but no improvement was seen. The dealership then diagnosed a faulty VSA unit, quoted $2,500, but never ordered the part or followed up. A third-party shop (Mr. Tire) diagnosed a faulty ECM, which the dealership ignored. In September 2023, dealership recommended replacing the fuel injectors, which I paid for out-of-pocket (~$1,000), which resolved the warning lights and stalling. However, ongoing problems persist: The air conditioning system is no longer cooling effectively, despite prior repair. The car also feels underpowered when accelerating or starting, with weak engine revving compared to when the car was new. While no current warning lights appear, the performance is noticeably degraded. In April 2025, the vehicle’s fuel pump was finally replaced under Honda’s service bulletin recall after being on the waiting list for the parts for nearly 1.5 years, but these other concerns remain unresolved. I am submitting this complaint because: The stalling incidents created serious safety hazards in live traffic. The vehicle has experienced repeated systemic failures that align with known issues reported by other 2018 CR-V owners. Despite multiple dealership visits and significant personal expense, the vehicle has not been restored to reliable and safe operating condition. I just purchased the vehicle she hadn't even driven it 2 months when it started to shut off on it's on. Causing very dangerous situations. Then the oil consumption problem that's been well known and heavily documented time after time. Without warning lights or low oil pressure light or even a check
... engine light to give any type of warning the front seal blew out causing heavy oil loose that caused the engine bay and over the bottom of the vehicle drenching areas that have really high temperatures that could have caused the oil to possibly ignite at any time from the high heated areas that was covered in oil. Also with front seal blown out without warning led to timming chain becoming faulty and then breaking leading to my valves impacting with pistons because this is a interference engine. The impact caused every valve to bend which led to no compression and without compression no engine will start without compression. All this consumption issue is due to piston rings that are under sized which allows blow by leading to consumption. After all that the price of everything to be fixed at home by myself cost almost $1000 and many man hours not including all the time I have a vehicle that's new to me that I haven't been able to drive but just a few months after purchasing. I have reported it to Honda America, and through a specific forum, I’m aware that there’s many people who are also having this same issue. This problem can be reproduced only in cooler/humid weather. Sometimes it can be triggered by pushing/knocking lightly on the face of the gauge.Read more

The steering wheel when driving gets difficult to turn, then abruptly gets easy to turn as if it is getting caught, or sticking. For example when driving straight, the wheel will not turn until you apply well over the normal force to turn the wheel. After applying this medium to heavy force to turn,
... the wheel ‘un-sticks’ and jerks abruptly, going back to normal force to turn. This unsettles the car and shifts the weight of the vehicle. This is dangerous especially in wet or icy conditions where these shifts are more likely to cause a loss of control. I am worried that this could get worse as the symptoms suddenly arose. This behavior is constantly noticeable while driving on the highway. It’s embarrassing to drive and other drivers or police officers may interpret the jerky driving as being under the influence. After bringing the car to a dealer, they confirmed the behavior on my vehicle as well as their test drive vehicle. There are no warning lights, and I first noticed the issue after 5-10k miles as it’s first owner.Read more

Our family 2013 Santa Fe was leaking fuel in June 2023. Hyundai of Chantilly failed to check on Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that were related to our 2013 Santa Fe. TSBs are circulated to “General Manager, Service Manager, Parts Manager, Warranty Manager, Service Advisors, Technicians, Bo
... dy Shop Manager, Fleet Repair”. Per Recall 180: Hyundai is conducting a safety recall in the United States to confirm the high pressure fuel pipe was properly connected by Hyundai dealers to the fuel pump outlet during prior engine replacement. What is the safety recall? Certain model year 2011-2018 Hyundai Sonata, model year 2013-2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and model year 2014-2015 and 2018 Tucson vehicles had engines replaced. In some cases, during engine replacements, the high pressure fuel pipe may have been damaged, misaligned, or improperly torqued during the engine replacement procedure, allowing fuel to leak. What will Hyundai do? Hyundai dealers will inspect the connections of the high pressure fuel pipe to the fuel pump outlet for fuel leaking. If leaking fuel is detected, the fuel pipe will be replaced and properly installed with a new one. This procedure will be performed at NO CHARGE. My daughter mentioned to Hyundai Service Advisor, that the engine had been replaced under the recall last Spring 2023. Why didn’t the Service Advisor or Service Technician check the TSB? That should have been the first thing to do, especially when fuel lines don’t go bad that quickly. The level of incompetence at Hyundai of Chantilly Service Department is staggering. I paid over $1300 at Hyundai of Chantilly, most of which is covered by a recall. Now, I’m in the process of requesting reimbursement from Hyundai Motor America, which could take 120 days to process/receive. Why should customers have to do research to find out whether their vehicle was impacted by a recall? Hyundai should be fined civil penalties for failures in fixing recall issues.Read more
