Vehicle: 2022 Audi Q5 VIN: [XXX] Current Mileage: 60,221 DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: I am filing this complaint regarding a recurring all-wheel-drive (AWD) system defect on my 2022 Audi Q5 that has persisted despite a prior repair performed under the factory warranty. SYMPTOMS: I have been experiencing the following symptoms primarily during tight turns, U-turns, and low-speed maneuvering such as in parking lots: - Jerking and lurching of the vehicle during turns - Grinding and clunking noises from the drivetrain during turns - Vibrations felt through the vehicle during turns - Symptoms occur at both low speeds and highway speeds REPAIR HISTORY: Approximately 1.5 years ago, while my vehicle was still under the Audi factory warranty, I brought my vehicle to an authorized Audi dealership for the exact same symptoms. The dealer performed an AWD fluid drain and refill per Audi Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #2059057, which specifically addresses AWD clutch noise and vibration during turns on 2021-2023 Audi Q5 models. The dealer indicated the issue was resolved. RECURRENCE: The identical symptoms have since returned. My vehicle is now out of its factory warranty period. The dealer has not provided a permanent fix despite following the manufacturer's own TSB procedure. The repair performed under warranty has clearly failed to resolve the underlying defect. SAFETY CONCERN: The jerking and loss of smooth drivetrain control during turns, particularly at low speeds in parking lots and during U-turns, represents a safety hazard as it affects the driver's ability to maintain predictable vehicle control. This issue is especially dangerous in situations requiring precise maneuvering such as parking, merging, and navigating tight spaces. ADDITIONAL NOTES: - Audi TSB #2059057 acknowledges this as a known defect affecting 2021-2023 Q5 models - The same repair has failed to provide a lasting fix - Multiple owners of 2021-2023 Audi Q5 vehicles have reported identical INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIO
The contact owns a 2022 Audi Q5. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle was started, and the message "Electrical System Malfunction – Stop Safely" was displayed. A red warning light flashed and then turned yellow. In another occurrence, while on the freeway, the vehicle accelerated independently, and the collision warning light flashed with a beeping sound, although there were no vehicles nearby. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure due to invalid data that was received. The contact was informed by the dealer to avoid driving the vehicle when the red light was illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000.
While driving my 2022 Audi Q5 on Interstate I-35 at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly applied braking while traveling on a wet roadway. The braking felt unexpected and the vehicle lost traction and control. The vehicle skidded and struck a concrete barrier. The side airbag deployed during the crash. Fortunately, my family survived the accident. I am unsure whether this event was caused by road conditions or a possible malfunction related to braking, stability control, or advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), but I am reporting the incident for safety review.

The contact owns a 2022 Audi Q5. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, there was a loud bang, and the sunroof glass shattered, with glass falling inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was determined that the sunroof glass had shattered on impact with a foreign object. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost and remained at the local dealer. Upon further inspection, there was no evidence that an object had caused the sunroof glass to shatter. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
Vehicle: 2022 Audi Q5 (VIN [XXX] ) Mileage at incident: ~20,000 Component: Powertrain – Engine / Turbocharger – Sudden Loss of Power NARRATIVE: On or about [XXX], my 2022 Audi Q5 experienced a sudden loss of engine power while driving approximately 60 mph. The vehicle began vibrating/shaking severely, jerking on acceleration, and displayed warnings including “Drive system: Please switch engine off” along with a check engine light. The vehicle entered reduced power/limp mode, creating a hazardous situation in traffic at highway speeds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Audi dealer in Wayzata BLVD Minneapolis who diagnosed catastrophic internal engine failure and documented metallic debris in the engine oil. Audi replaced the engine with a new long block (warranty repair). However, despite confirmed metal contamination in the oil system, Audi directed the dealer to flush and reuse the turbocharger rather than replace it. The turbocharger is supplied by engine oil and may retain embedded metal in its bearing assembly, creating an ongoing risk of turbo bearing seizure/failure and another sudden loss of power at highway speed. I am reporting this because (1) the vehicle already experienced sudden power loss at highway speed, and (2) the repair decision to reuse a contamination-exposed turbocharger may create continued risk of sudden loss of power and unsafe operation. Dealer repair: Engine replaced; turbocharger reused after “flush.” Current safety status: I do not feel the vehicle is safe for highway driving due to risk of turbo failure and sudden power loss. Requested action: Please log and review similar complaints for potential investigation related to sudden loss of power and contamination-exposed turbo reuse in warranty repairs. The contact owns a 2022 AUDI Q5. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V898000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed that parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
This car has an active recall according to Audi, but it doesn't show up in the NHTSA's system. After reviewing the vehicle history, this car was imported and the bond wasn't released until 4/29/2025, given that, the dealership listed the car for sale April 4th and sold it to me April 22, 2025, SEVEN days before the bond was released. I also believe the FMVSS compliance sticker is fake as it's able to peel off the car in one piece with ease. There was also an active lien on the car from the previous owner. This dealership operates not only as a dealership but also the RI, owns the car repair garages reporting to Carfax but is also an insurance broker! Being a Registered Importer, dealer, garage owner, and insurance broker gives one person/business total control over importing, certifying, repairing, insuring, and selling vehicles. This makes it easy to forge documents, fake compliance (like FMVSS stickers), wash titles, and hide fraud with little outside oversight.
A recall notice was sent on November 2024 informing us that the vehicle's high-voltage battery modules may experience a thermal overload possibly resulting in smoke or fire. In addition, we were notified that a defective high-voltage battery cell modules may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire. The recall notice indicated to contact the manufacturer, Audi, to remedy the recall. We contacted Audi multiple times starting on November 2024 for the manufacture to remedy this safety recall. We have yet to receive any information as to the timeframe to remedy the recall or have had Audi reach out setting an appointment for diagnostics or replacement of the defective battery. We have been concern for the safety of ourselves and the vehicle given the current recall.
I own a 2022 Audi Q5 Hybrid, and due to an unresolved recall (93AA), the vehicle’s plug-in hybrid functionality has been completely disabled since November 2024. The vehicle was designed to operate as a PHEV, but it can now only run on gasoline, significantly altering its intended use and efficiency. Audi has failed to provide a repair timeline or offer a loaner vehicle while the recall remains unresolved. Additionally, Audi of America has refused to buy back the vehicle, despite it no longer functioning as advertised. This situation raises serious concerns about the reliability of Audi’s hybrid and EV systems, as well as their ability to support affected customers. This recall effectively eliminates a core safety and performance feature of the vehicle, as owners relying on electric operation are forced to use gasoline instead. Given the uncertainty surrounding a fix, I am concerned about Audi’s ability to resolve this issue in a reasonable timeframe. Please see the attached complaint I made to my Utah attorney general's office.
I started the car and , put it in reverse and the rear back up camera never turned on as required when backing up today. Rear camera didnt activate but the parking light on the audi was red as usual indicating it was activated. However the screen just went to its default app page (settings, carplay, etc.) I was unable to see pedestrians as I backed out of the grocery shopping center parking spot. Yes. Audi dealership keeps telling me there is no update and that my software version 3606 is the latest software( I have told the dealer, I have a black screen without apps, only LTE and clock show up occasionally) they have done a factory reset and so have i without resolution. No warning lights came on, it just said welcome (user name) and went to the regular media screen. I have a 2mb 7 second video of the incident I took with my iphone if needed

The contact owned a 2022 Audi Q5. The contact stated that after completing an oil change at Jiffy Lube, the contact was informed that there was a minor oil leak coming from the oil pan to the top of the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the oil leak might have happened during the oil change and recommended the oil plug replacement. Additionally, the contact stated while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to make a turn, the driver depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle unintendedly accelerated and drove off at 40-50 MPH in front of vehicles that were stopped at the red traffic light. The vehicle then hit the curb and was propelled 4-5 feet in the air. The vehicle then hit a hill and drove on top of the hill in a parking lot. The driver depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped. The air bags deployed. The hazard lights were illuminated. The contact's wife sustained a back injury and could not exit the vehicle. The contact stated that his wife was extracted from the vehicle by the ambulance and was transported to the hospital, where the contact's wife underwent surgery for broken vertebrae. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and totaled by the insurance company. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

My car cut off while I was driving [XXX]. My family including my [XXX] was in the car when the car shut off mid drive. No warning nothing. Power was on but the steering wheel locked and the brake pedal was firm. I could not switch gears nothing. It's a Sunday so I had the car towed to my home. 10/7 I have the car towed to Bell Audi in Edison NJ and was told it's my alternator. I work from home, I barely drive 10 miles a week. I use my car to pick my daughter up from school which is close to home. I have researched and found this is a common issue with Audi cars that are not old. At 13k miles I should not have this issue. We could've died on the highway as that is where I was heading towards. I checked my vin and found this is a common issue which is not acceptable as we almost died in the car as it stopped short and scared all of us and locked up. There is some issue with emission system for Audi Q5 which results in Oil Warning light coming on. It looks like that this is a common issue as there are about 22 vehicles with same defect at one dealership. It looks like Audi dealerships and Audi themselves are aware of this issue and do not have parts to repair this. With the emission issue earlier with VW, not sure if this is a systemic issue. I have been told that the part No. is 7LO 906 243 F This problem came up one month back and this has not been repaired as of now being told that the part is on back order. The issue is still not resolved as part is on back order and I have to drive with the engine warning light.
3 times while driving engine stalled. Car will restart after coasting off road & restarting it. Been to two Audi dealers under warranty. Car displayed no fault code. Only happens occasionally so neither dealer has seen the problem to fix it. My wife has video of the last engine stall but still no fix. We don’t trust or feel car is safe to drive.
The charging cable and outlet the charging cable was plugged into caught on fire about 1 year ago. I had to replace the wiring and outlet and purchase a new cable which is now an open recall and apparantly still defective.

Vehicle had first oil change at 10K miles on 1/1/2023 In April of 2023 started noticing smoke and a burning smell coming out of the engine, took car in to dealership. They stated on 4/25/2023 that there was a "small oil leak," and that they repaired and cleaned up the leakage but they wanted to drive the vehicle once more before they released it to me. I have this all in a text message. 12/20/2023 took vehicle in for 20K service and they said there is a major leakage they said in a video they sent me: "found lots of oil on top of the engine, the bolts that hold the Cambridge (not sure if thats what he said/spelling) down are loose, so we will be pulling this all apart and resealing and replacing all those bolts to fix those leaks"
I hit 2 mailboxes and one car back but not warning no emergency brake work. I wonder why my car doesn’t have any safety features it should have
Crash
I was parking my car in a driveway on clear and sunny day. As I put the car into reverse, the engine suddenly accelerated. The car then spun around and moved sideways causing me to crash into the garage along the length of the car on passenger side. The garage was heavily damaged as were two other cars in the garage. I was not injured except for mild bruising and stiffness in neck and shoulders. Air bags did not deploy. My car had to be towed away. Three weeks earlier, the RF ACC sensor/module J428 was repaired by the Audi dealership in New London. It was out of alignment due to collision/damage to right front bumper from hit and run driver in a parking lot in June.
