Hello, I was driving home from work with my six-month old in the car and the engine stalled while on the Belleville Turnpike. It seized and I was almost rear-ended by a tractor trailer hauling lumber to the lumber yard just a few streets away. I couldn't move the car and was afraid of how to even attempt to secure my car as my daughter was strapped in her car seat. An extremely nice man pulled ov
... er and began to flag vehicle to go around me. By this time, I had only my hazard lights on. I was frightened beyond belief having gone through that experience. The car was towed to the dealership who confirmed it was catastrophic engine failure(misfire of a cylinder). They stated initially with my 3rd party warrant that it would be covered and in their words " it was a good thing I had a warranty". Fast forward to two weeks after I check to see what is going on. Things have changed. Now, because I am missing one oil change receipt, they need to be paid $1400, to further corroborate the cause of the engine failure. I haven't paid and honestly don't plan on paying them anything. To date, I have spent over $2,000 on car rental fees since my car is now sitting at the Global Hyundai Dealership.Read more

It felt extremely unsa

I own a 2018 Toyota Camry equipped with the UA80 8-speed automatic transmission. I have experienced the following symptoms: burning smell coming from the transmission, hesitation and jerking during acceleration, and previously noticed a knocking/clunking noise that eventually stopped on its own. These symptoms are consistent with the known UA80 transmission defect involving excessive heat buildup,
... premature fluid degradation, and torque converter failure. I am aware that Toyota has known about this defect since at least 2016 and has issued multiple Technical Service Bulletins without offering a permanent fix or recall. The transmission has not yet been inspected by a dealer. I am filing this complaint to add to the public record and support a formal NHTSA investigation.Read more

... time of failure, I was traveling approximately 78 mph in the fast lane of the interstate. The vehicle rapidly lost speed and dropped into what appeared to be limp mode, eventually slowing into the upper 50 mph range despite pressing the accelerator. I had to fight across multiple lanes of freeway traffic while unable to maintain highway speed. This created an extremely dangerous situation due to surrounding high-speed traffic and limited safe shoulder access in a remote desert area. The vehicle became unsafe to continue driving and required a tow of over 70 miles to the nearest Nissan dealership. The tow expense alone exceeded $600. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had already experienced a separate unexplained no-power/no-start event. At that time, the battery, starter, and alternator reportedly tested normal. The vehicle remains within the manufacturer’s 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty and currently has active recalls associated with the vehicle. A Nissan case has been opened and the vehicle is pending dealer diagnosis and inspection. After posting publicly about this incident in Nissan owner groups, I identified numerous other owners reporting nearly identical symptoms involving warning light cascades, sudden loss of acceleration, limp mode events, and highway safety concerns. This incident created a serious safety hazard involving sudden highway deceleration and loss of motive power during interstate travel. I am writing to report an unresolved high-voltage safety defect involving the Motor Power Inverter Module on my 2019 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid. The vehicle's high-voltage hybrid propulsion inverter is emitting a severe, high-pitched mechanical squealing noise during acceleration and regenerative braking. The high-voltage inverter serves as the foundational link regulating current between the lit
... hium-ion battery and the electric drive motor. A failing inverter module presents an immediate, unreasonable safety hazard. Internal failure, thermal runaway, or component degradation within the inverter stack creates an imminent risk of sudden high-voltage isolation fault. This will result in an immediate vehicle stall and a total loss of propulsion while driving at highway speeds, leaving the vehicle stranded in traffic with no power to accelerate out of harm's way, creating a severe crash hazard.Furthermore, an authorized Honda dealership—Visalia Honda (Groppetti Automotive) in California—has failed to properly diagnose, isolate, or resolve this high-voltage drivetrain defect despite the vehicle being brought in specifically for this issue. Despite the component being legally covered under California’s mandated 15-year/150,000-mile extended emissions and hybrid warranty, the dealership has taken no constructive corrective action, allowing a known, physically degraded high-voltage component to remain active on public roadways.Federal intervention and a formal technical investigation into Honda's clarity hybrid propulsion inverter systems are required to address this vehicle stalling hazard before an electrical failure results in a highway collision.Read more

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my Nissan Murano due to a recurring water leak caused by clogged sunroof/moonroof drain tubes. This problem has now happened for the third time, even after prior repairs by an authorized Nissan dealership. Water repeatedly enters the interior of the vehicle, soaking the carpets and interior areas. I am very concerned about mold and mildew developing undern
... eath the carpeting and inside the vehicle because of the trapped moisture. This creates potential health concerns for passengers and affects the safety and air quality inside the car. I am also concerned about possible electrical damage from repeated water intrusion near wiring and electronic components. The ongoing leaks have caused major inconvenience, repair expenses, and concern about the long-term reliability of the vehicle. The first repair was completed by a Nissan dealership at my own expense, yet the same issue returned multiple times afterward. After researching this problem, I found that many other Nissan Murano owners have reported similar recurring drain clogging and water intrusion issues. I believe this may indicate a design defect or inadequate drainage system that should be investigated further. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this issue for potential safety risks related to mold exposure, electrical failures, and recurring water intrusion affecting Nissan Murano vehicles.Read more
